Replacing DV4T-1300se motherboard

I got the flashing caps/scroll lock three times.  I assume the video is dead on the system board.  I assume that I need to replace the whole thing to get back up and running.
I have been searching ebay and amazon for a replacement using the part number in the repair manual which is 496730-001.  They all show that they are compatible for the dv4t-1000 laptops.  Is that just saying the 1000 series (1000, 1200, 1300, etc) or literally just the 1000 iterations?  I don't want to buy something that won't work with my laptop.
I mainly want to make sure that I get one that will still work the TV tuner and the bluray player. I am going to keep it docked so I just need it to turn on and be able to run those things.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Where do you get part # from ? Based on the following link, it may not be the right one:

  • Is it necessary to replace the entire motherboard if the fan needs to be changed?

I recently sent in my MacBook pro (mid-2009) to a authorized service provider for repairs. I brought it in because of those weird noises coming from inside the MacBook and that it became very hot after running for awhile. The technician ran a simple diagnostic and it seemed to be a problem with the fan, and he advised me it would involve replacing the entire motherboard should there be a need to replace the fan. The question is that really necessary? I have visited a few forums and most indicated only the fan needs to be replaced. Does anyone have any comments on this? I am hoping I have not been taken for a ride.

fak838- Here is an instructional guide on how to replace the fan on a Mid 2009 MBP 13".  No mention of a motherboard replacement as a part of the process is mentioned.: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-MacBook-Pro-13-Inch-Unibody-Mid-2009-Fan/ 1338/1.  If you mac is a different size, here is the 15" version and for replacement of both the right and left fans, motherboard replacement is not indicated as being necessary in order to replace the fans: http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro_15%22_Unibody_Mid_2009

  • HP Envy 17 1050e HDMI port broken - do I have to replace the whole motherboard?

The HDMI port on my hp envy one day just fell out - I assume it has been pulled or pushed too hard. It looks like the ports are directly connected to the motherboard, can I somehow just stick it on again or buy it as a separate part or do I have replace the whole motherboard to make it work again? Any instructions are very wellcome!
    Thanks!

You need to bring that to a computer shop that has someone with a soldering station and good soldering skills.  The will also have to ascertain how much damage was done to the mother board.  Those things just don't fall out.  It have to be ripped out. If the pins just sheared, a new piece could be soldered back in after they unsolder the parts of the pins left behind.  If the mother board is damaged in that area, you may not be able to use HDMI. It will depend on them being able to repair the broken traces and you would have to be in a good shop for them to do that.  That may be time to search eBay.

  • Replace or not motherboard, water damage

my girlfriend just bought a macbook pro and water got spilled on it. The motherboard has a little bit of corrosion but the computer is working fine. If she waits to replace the motherboard can the corrosion creep onto other parts of the macbook? Should she try and replace it as soon as possible or is it ok to wait and see if it will actually affect the computer at all.

It is virtually impossible to fix a water damaged electronic device.  Replacement is the only logical choice.

  • I want to replace my own motherboard board on a Imac G5

It must sound cheap to want to save 800 for a certified apple repair. If its a dead machine, what have I got to lose? I have replaced memory and hardrives on different computers successfullly etc... The question is a 3 part one.
1)what guides could be reccommended for replacing a motherboard and is there any video help?
    2)How do i know if I have a slot loaded G5
3}AND Before I do it I want to make sure the power supply doesn't need replacing. How can I check that? We determined the capacitors on the motherboard were leaking and bulging. it turns on with a kernel exception.so inherently I didn't think to ask about power supply.. and I assume its ok.
3a)How about any guides to replacing the capacitors themselves? Thank you jon

Something in the links below might help you although you don't specify which model iMac you have:

  • Replacing imac 333 motherboard...help!

I purchased an iMac 333 for my mother last month and we just found out that the ethernet port is shot after many attempts of trying to go online. The guy I purchased it from told me that the motherboard needed to be replaced. Could someone give me tips on how to replace it myself or point me in the direction of a site that can help me out. Thanks.

  • Replacing K8N Diamond motherboard - Need advise

    Greetings
I would like to have some advise on the following:
    1) I have a K8N Diamond motherboard. Suspect to be faulty. If I replace the suspected faulty motherboard with another new K8N Diamond motherboard, do I need to reinstall the OS (Window xp sp2) as well? Or alternatively can I just do a OS repair when I replace the motherboard.
    2) If I replace the suspected faulty K8N Diamond motherboard with a new K8N Diamond plus, do I need to reinstall the OS (Window xp sp2) or an OS repair will be sufficient?
    Thanks
    Best Regards
    Harry

Activate Windows XP from Floppy Diskette Backup
Create the Activation Status Floppy Diskette
    Navigate to %systemroot%\system32 folder.
Copy the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files to the floppy diskette.
Restart the computer and use the F8 key to bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu.
Select Minimal Safe Mode using Up and Down Arrow Keys and press Enter.
    Navigate to %systemroot%\system32 folder.
Rename the existing wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files.
Using the floppy diskette, copy the previously backed up wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files to the %systemroot%\system32 folder.
    Reboot the computer.

Eh, don't know.  I never attempted to power up a board w/o connecting everthing back up.  I see your point, but not sure if there is a good reason why the intel board will not illuminate the indicator lights till it sees a minimum of components connected.  Did you get the intel board used?  Maybe it is doa.
I'd connect everything up to it and power it up before making that assumption.  Do you have the intel cpu?

  • Where can I find a replacement motherboard for MB 2.16 intel core 2 duo?

    Hi,
One of my bosses has a macbook 2.16 GHz that's been diagnosed with a fried motherboard. He'll have to get a new one. And he asked me to shop around for a replacement. I don't see anything out there other than one on ifixit.com site. How can this be since it's a relatively new computer. When I do a search on Google I am often directed to sites that sell all kinds of replacement CPUs/processors/motherboards, often saying nothing about being ok to use in macs. Can someone please point me in a direction or two, or give me some terminology so that I can see whether or not NewEgg etc, offers parts that I can use in a mac?
    Thanks much in advance,
    Sheila

I've always bought used mother boards on ebay. Sometimes it means buying an entire laptop with perhaps a bad display or other bad parts.
If you take this route you pretty much need to be able to replace it yourself because I don't think you are likely to find a service shop that will take your used parts to fix your computer. They would ot be able to guarantee anything if they are installing unknown hardware.

  • Motherboard fried -- replaced with new computer  -- now need to salvage catalogs from  old drives

Rather than replace the fried motherboard on an old box running Windows XP, I bought a new box running 64-bit Windows 8.1.  I have my two 11-year-old internal sata drives attached to the new box with USB enclosures, plus my old 300 MB usb drive.  I have fresh backups of 'My Catalog', 'My Catalog 2', and all the 12,000 photos.  I also appear to still have download rights to my original copy of Adobe Elements 9 (thank you for that, Adobe).
I copied the contents of the old C drive (now 'J:') onto the new C drive under AppData/Local/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs and Pictures/Adobe/Digital Camera Photos and then stopped, realizing I didn't know what I was doing.
What I DON'T have is the ability to 'repair' or optimize the catalog or to view the catalog to identify original drive letters for the second internal drive and the external usb drive (now they are 'K:' and 'L'), nor do I know what else besides 'My Catalog' and the photos need to be on the new C drive.  Or if I even have the option of moving to the new C drive, as opposed to continuing to run off what is now 'J:'.
So, I'm thinking that if I just install Elements 9 again, a)  it won't find any of my photos b) I will probably have empty albums, since I haven't found any 'My Collection' files and c) I will lose all my version sets.  Or  maybe I'm just being too pessimistic.
Ideally I would like to put everything on the new C drive and just get rid of the three old drives, but the main thing is to salvage the version sets and albums.
Can anyone advise me on how to set the drives up so that Elements will find my version sets and albums when I do a fresh install of Photoshop Elements?

I was indeed too pessimistic.  I purchased a copy of Elements 13; installed it; went into Manage Catalogs and pointed it at My Catalog; and then took the options to convert, repair, and optimize.  Lo and behold, within seconds it  had found all my folders and albums and everything was there as it should be.

  • Lenovo G550 Motherboard replacement

    Hello
The motherboard on my G550 malfunctioned and while I was looking for a new one on the internet I noticed that some versions of the same laptop come with a different graphics card. My laptop has a integrated Intel Mobile 45 Family Chipset, but some versions come with a NVIDIA GeForce G210M. So I was wondering if I can replace my old motherboard with the one that has NVIDIA GeForce G210M or do I have to get the same one as my old motherobard?
    Thanks in advance.
