Replacing purchased songs after a house fire destroyed everything?

I had a house fire a few months back and it destroyed everything that was electronic. I had around 320 purchased songs from itunes on my desktop, laptop, iphone, and I had my documents and songs backed up on an external hard drive. The fire destroyed all of those items. I was able to re-download purchased apps for free but I'm running into trouble with replacing my purchased songs. Has anyone had any luck arranging this? I did everything I could think of to protect my files but the fire won.

You're drilling down to the wrong thing, then.
Go into the part about itunes music and then choose lost or missing purchases.
THere will be an email button near the top right when you get to the correct place. They don't make it easy.
Bummer about the fire!

  • New Purchased songs after replacement...

I had to replace my iPhone 4, and looking in the iTunes app this morning at the "Purchased" section, I see a bunch of songs that I know I never purchased.  in some cases they are completely wrong (e.g. artists that I don't listen to) and in other cases, they seem to just be a little off (e.g. right artist, right album, but wrong song).
Has anyone else encountered this?  Any ideas for how to approach fixing it (at least in terms of the right-artist-&-album-but-wrong-song situation)?

I forgot to add whenever I ask it to sync it pops up asking me to: erase & sync or transfer purchase songs like I did before so I always transfer purchased songs but it doesn't do anything and im afraid if i select erase and sync it will erase everything...i dont know what to do !

  • IPod skipps all purchased songs after a reset

    Hi,
Since I upgraded to version 7 of iTunes I have had the problem where after a reset my iPod mini will skip all purchased songs and only play songs ripped from cd's
(this did not happen at all with v6 of iTunes).
The only way around this is to hook it back up to the pc and let iTunes connect. Once it is connected and it says ok to disconnect I can disconnect my iPod and the songs will play until the next time it is reset.
Where can I go or who can I contact to see about getting this bug in the software fixed?
    Thanks,

  • Losing I-tune purchased songs AFTER  using "system restore"

I beg someone to help me. I will get to the point asap, but please be patient with my ramblings since the problem eventually gets to I-tunes.
1-I constantly get this message when launchig yahoo messenger or watching DVD on computer or wanting to listen to my I-tunes purchased/downloaded songs" "The computer's audio output is already in use by another application". Sometimes, I get a message which states that my audio configutation is not correct. This just happened recently. ANYWAY.
2-I decided to do system restore....and restored my system to an earlier version. THIS WAS great.....my audio configuration went back to normal. NOW, THE MAIN POINT:
3-After doing a system restore...I totally lose my I-tunes registration. Even though I restored back to an earlier time...I should still BE able to log back into my i-tunes and store and EXPECT to find my songs. But..boom the songs are gone..it is as if I-tunes never recognized me as a user/purchaser. AND yes, I restored my computer to an earlier time BEFORE I purchased songs from I-tunes. But I do not see how this can be an issue..since....I have alread purchased the songs..and I-tunes or Apple.com has me in their system.
So, my need is: getting my songs back, even though I did a system restore to an earlier date. Yes, I can use system restore again and go back to my recent restore point when I had I-tunes and I can find my songs..but....then...MY AUDIO configuration problem exits, again.
    sorry for rambling.
Any help...would be be more than appreciated.
    thank you

  • No album art on my Purchased songs after I got the new iTunes 10

uggh... iTunes always does the worst things to me...
This all started yesterday when I decided I would treat myself in trying to get the new 4.2 software on my iPod Touch. To prepare for the update, I backed up my iPod a couple times to make sure I wouldn't lose anything. I went to get the update, and I got a pop up saying I needed to transfer my Purchases. I didn't really see the point in this, but I did it, just to find all my Purchased songs off of my iPod and only stored on my computer. I had to wait awhile to get those back onto my iPod (I don't even know why they were taken off in the first place!), and when I went back to the Music library on my iPod I had no album art on my purchased songs. On iTunes, it shows the pictures on there just fine! Even on landscape, the picture is just that stupid gray music note that taunts me in my dreams... ok maybe that's exaggerating a bit... or not really...
anyways, I'm pretty mad about all this and I've had it with iTunes doing crap to my iPod that even GOOGLE can't help me with! (hence the purpose of me joining this forum: try searching "no album art purchased" in Google. Nothing!) I mean I guess I could go onto Google Images and download EVERY SINGLE cover art again, and manually put them onto "Get Info", but I have like 60 Purchased songs! I don't want to go through that only to find that it made absolutely no difference.
Anyone else got this problem or have any idea why it's happening to me?!
watch it be something as simple as a unchecked box in Preferences...
btw, sorry for how lengthy this got... haha

The iOS 4.2.1 seems to have corrupted the artwork database on your Touch. I had some artwork issues too, but the solution is to simply Restore the iPod and re-load your last backup. Of course, make sure that everything on your iPod is also in your iTunes library (which is why your purchases were transferred before the OS update).

  • How do you get back your purchased songs after you have restored your ipod?

hi my name is meagan i just restored my ipod and all my (purchased songs , videos , etc.) are gone and i just called the apple hot line and they told me this would be the best way and that you guys can help get my purchased songs back this would be greatly appreciated:) please let me know as soon as possible

    Hi Meagan,
If you have sync'd / transferred the songs to iTunes prior to the restore (they would be listed under iTunes Store or within your library if so) then you can easily sync these across. If, however, you don't you will need to get in contact with iTunes Store Support so as that they can look at possibly reauthorising a download of them for you.
As an aside, with any purchases you ever make regularly backup and transfer the purchases from your device to your computer. That way you shouldn't lose them

    Hi Aloha Imagery,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  With iTunes 12, you do have the ability to download all of your purchased songs at one time.  Click on the link below for step-by-step instructions from the iTunes User Guide.
    http://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/12/#/itns36a8f323
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click your name to the left of the Search field and choose Purchased. If you don’t see your name, click Sign In.
In the page that appears, select a category.
iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download.
If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click its Download button .
To download all available items, click Download All.
The download All button is at the bottom-right corner of your screen:
    Play on! :)

  • My iPhone can only display and play purchased songs after updating to 8.1.3

After updating to 8.1.3, all of my songs refuse to even show up on my iPhone if they were not purchased on the iTunes store. I should have about 5 gbs of music on my phone but I only see 7 songs I purchased from albums in the iTunes store. I tried synching to iTunes, re-adding music, restoring it. This was not a problem until I updated the iOS. How do I get this fixed?

did u ever find an answer?

  • Lost purchased songs after sync.

I just synced my ipod touch to iTunes on my computer to update my playlists and my library. I haven't been on iTunes on my computer for almost a year, due to before my computer has had constant problems after installing iTunes, and I would then have to uninstall the program. Recently I've wanted to update my playlists on my iPod and update my library, so I downloaded iTunes, signed in, authorized the computer, and synced like I did before, which was awhile ago. My iPods battery was low when I first synced, so I left it hooked up to my computer and went to do other things while it charged. Now I'm back, and my iPod is a complete disaster. *_Now I cannot find about 100 songs that were on my iPod before I even hooked it up to the computer in my iTunes library, on my computer, or even on my iPod, along with random songs' cover art now messed up!_* I've been looking through all of Apple's support solutions and have not found anything that could help me. The songs that are missing I've purchased within the past 2 months. *_If it helps, 6 or 7 songs that I've purchased in the last week though are still on my iPod and in my iTunes library, with their cover art also messed up._* I don't really understand how my iPod could have everything fine before syncing, then have around 100$ at the least of songs completely missing and nowhere to be found, along with the cover art messed up! Please if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.

When you sync your iPod for the first time (at least with a new iTunes on the computer, you should stick around and customize your ipod options. Does the songs you purshed show up in iTunes. To fix the album artwork problem see if the songs with the bad album artwork has the right album name. If so goto the menu bar: store>get album artwork. What does it look like? Also if the iPod artwork is messed up after that just reset after you sync.

  • Have BOTH .m4a and .m4p versions of same purchased songs after re-import

    Hello,
I recently had to reconstruct my iTunes library (new machine, new installation) and so I did an "Add to Library" of my library folder into an empty iTunes library. After import, I've discovered that for about 215 songs which I've purchased from the iTunes Store, I have both .m4a and .m4p versions of each of these songs. If I view the "Kind" of each song within iTunes, the .m4a shows a "Kind" of "Purchased AAC Audio File", and the .m4p version shows a "Kind" of "Protected AAC Audio File". If I show the Bitrate, each copy of each song is the same, 256 Kbps. If I view each song file in the Finder, the .m4a is about double the size of the .m4p. I have a few questions surrounding this:
    1. Why are the sizes of the song files so drastically different?
    2. Some time ago I took advantage of that DRM-free promotion, so I am suspecting that this may have had something to do with me having both protected and non-protected copies of these files. However, I am curious why both files now show in my library, whereas before, they did not -- only one copy showed. Does anyone know why both song copies are now showing?
    3. Should I keep both of these files?
    4. Is there a way to manage these files in iTunes so that only one copy shows? They both show when duplicates are hidden, because they are different, or iTunes doesn't know of the association I suppose. But of course that messes up trying to play an album -- every song plays twice.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
    Brad

No--nothing gets deleted when you convert. You get two copies of the song in your library. (On Edit: I haven't done this with the latest version of iTunes. I assume nothing gets deleted just like before. To check--maybe you should convert ONE song and see if you get a duplicate in a smaller version, or just a smaller version! I've always gotten duplicates!)
I did leave out a few steps on how I do this--but if you're interested here's how I do it. Make the playlist. Then go to Edit>Select All. Then I go back to the top line: Advanced>Convert Selection to AAC. (To be able to do this you have to have your import option set to AAC 128 kps under the advanced tab in your Preferences settings. After you do the conversion make sure you set this tab back to your preferred lossless import option!)
You will get two copies of the songs in your library. Your original playlist will contain the lossless songs, so you'll have to pull the AAC songs back out into a play list. You can find them easily by sorting your library by "Kind" and then pulling the AAC files into a playlist. You can label this iPhone--or whatever.
After you load the playlist onto your iPhone, uncheck it so the songs are not duplicated in your library. If you ever want to delete them, you have to do this inside your library or the file will remain on your computer. (It does take a while to run the conversion--so I rarely delete things afterwards if I think I'm going to use the file again.)
Post back if you still have other questions.

  • HT201209 Why was my credit card still billed for purchased songs after my gift card was correctly entered?

I recently entered the information into iTunes for a gift card.  All information was entered correctly, and I got a message confirming that.  After this point, I purchased a song from iTunes, but I still received an email today to inform me of my purchase and to let me know that the 99¢ had been charged to my credit card.  Can anyone help me with this?

Assuming you were not buying a gift for someone else - gifts cannot be purchased using a credit balance - another user in the forums posted this as the reply from the iTunes Store when this issue was brought up. Perhaps it will help you. Regards.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make a purchase using your store credit. To purchase items on the iTunes Store with your store credit, your account information in your user profile needs to be corrected. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
    1) Visit the My Apple ID website at:  http://appleid.apple.com
    2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
    3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
    4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
    5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
    6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
    7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
    8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner.  When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Once you click Done, you should be able to purchase on the iTunes Store using your store credit.
