Replacing RTC battery on DV3-2350EL

Hi,
is it possible to replace the RTC battery on HP Pavilion DV3-2350el without make warranty void?
How can I get the replacement battery? Can I use a standard CR2032 or does the battery come embedded with envelope and cables?

Hi,
The replacement procedure is detailed starting on Page 84 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
I don't believe this will effect your warranty, but you can always check with HP using the relevant link below.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

    Hi Paolotia,
Replacing the RTC battery in your notebook does involve rather extensive disassembly. You will have to disassemble it down to the system board.
See page 77 of the Maintenence & Service guide for your notebook series.

  • Portege M100 - How to replace the RTC battery?

Hello, the RTC battery of my Portege M100 is flat. I manage to order one from the internet but I can't locate it. I dismantle almost every part of the computer, but if someone could just guide me and give the procedure du replace it, it would be great. Thanks in advance!!

    Hi friend,
its easy to replace the RTC battery on your machine. I did it already and I had no problems during the replacement, I mean it was a little bit tricky to find the batt. but I will give everything from my experience. ;)
Look first at the wireless lan card, theres a slot an under the slot is the minipci-wlan-card located. Near the wireless lan card slot is some little cover, this cover must be removed (gently). The RTC battery is located in some white insulator, but before peeling that little battery out, you must disconnect the battery from the mainboard. After disconnecting it, just lift the RTC up and place the new one there.
Thats all, unfortunately I cannot serve you with some pics, so you will have to imagine it by yourself. ;)
    Good luck and greets
P.s.: If you feel uncomfortable in replacing the batt, then ask some techie to help you.

  • HP DV3-2350el - system clock loses time

    Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion DV3-2350el, just returned back from a repair by HP in warranty.
Now I've noticed that the system clock loses time when the notebook is off.
I think it should be a CMOS battery issue, but I haven't found any information about it.

    Hi,
How old is your machine ? Normally a CMOS battery can last for 4 or 5 years. Anyway, you may want to try yourself or bring it back to the repairer to reseat the CMOS battery. You can download this manual, page 4-22 shows you how to work with the RTC (or CMOS) battery.

  • CMOS / RTC Battery for Satellite A100-326?

    Hi,
    I'm after a replacement CMOS/RTC battery for my A100-326
I've got my machine open and located the battery but it has no model number on it.
I have contacted a Toshiba assistance center and they replied that the battery is part of the board and the whole board has to be replaced. However, if I can find the reference for the battery, I have a friend in a computer store that will replace it with a new one.
Any help would be great. Thanks!
    Regards
    Srgio

    Hi
Why you want to replace this
    Such battery is reachable
To charge the RTC battery you have to connect the AC adaptor to the notebook.
The main battery should be inserted too and the notebook should run for 20.24 hours.
Anyway, as far as I know its a Lithium Ion RTC battery 3V and 14mAh

  • Satellite A65-S126: Cannot find the RTC battery

I have my machine turn down but cannot find the batteries to replace them. Based on Toshiba support the P/N are P000444350 but there is no such item in the case that I can see. Any ideas..?
Even the disassembly manuals online do not show them.
I know there must be something in here.
Also according to the operation manual these batteries take power from the main battery.
Since my main battery is completely dead, would this account for the time snyc issue I'm having with the RTC batteries; since they are not getting power to recharge??

Sorry for my misunderstanding but what battery do you mean exactly.
Do you mean the main battery or the tiny RTC battery which is fixed on the motherboard?!
    > Also according to the operation manual these batteries take power from the main battery.
    This is not exactly right.
The RTC battery provides power to the motherboard therewith the internal clock and the BIOS can run 24/7.
It does no matter if the main battery is empty. The RTC should provide the power to motherboard for several times also if the main battery is empty.
If the RTC battery is empty the motherboard cannot be provided with power and the internal clock, BIOS will be reset.
In such case you have to connect the main battery and the AC adaptor to the notebook and let the battery charge for about 12 hours.
For details please check the user manual -> battery chapter
    best regards

  • Replacement CMOS battery for Equium L40

My CMOS battery is dead, can anyone advise where I can buy a replacement from one.
    Thanks
    Adrian

    Hi
Im afraid the RTC battery is soldered to the motherboard. Dont think you could remove it easily.
What you can do is to charge the battery.
In order to charge the RTC battery successfully, the main battery and AC adaptor have to be connected to the notebook. Additionally the notebook has to be powered ON for about 18-20 hours.
By the way: its a NiMH RTC battery supports 3V output voltage and 14mAh capacity

  • Tecra M5 RTC Battery

I suspect my RTC Battery is dead. I use my laptop on AC most of the time. Recently, when it goes into hibernation it loses time...
Is this a consumer replacable item? Directions available?
    Part # for Toshiba M5-S4332
    Model: PTM51U-12001P

    Hi guys
Generally this problem appears only if the CMOS battery (real time clock) is empty or corrupt.
The real time clock battery provides power for the internal real time clock and calendar. It also maintains the system configuration. If the RTC battery becomes completely discharged, the system loses this data and the real time clock. In such case the message RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent appears.
So I see only two options:
Either you will charge the real time clock battery or you will ask the technician for the replacement.
Usually the battery should be fully charged after 8-9 hoers but try to connect the notebook to the AC adaptor for a longer period.
If it will not help to solve the problem so you have to contact the ASP for the RTC battery replacement.

  • RTC battery & Sat Pro 6100

    Sorry for my bad english.
If the battery cmos of a notebook (I have a sat Pro 6100) is damaged completely, the portable one is ignited equally?

    Hi Biagio,
The RTC (or CMOS) battery is installed on the mother-board and is used to maintain the BIOS settings when the notebook is powered off. If the RTC battery is faulty then the date/time and other BIOS settings will not be maintained when the notebook is powered off for any length of time.
The normal notebook battery will be unaffected by the failure of the RTC battery and will still recgarge as normal when the notebook is connected to a mains power supply.
The RTC battery can be charged by connecting the mains power supply but leaving the notebook powered off for about 24 hours. If the date/time is still being lost after this then the RTC battery will need to be replaced by an authorised Toshiba Service Agent.

  • Rtc battery in dv3505

The rtc battery in the DV3505 has wires attached with a small connector on the end. Anyone know 1) if it's possible to replace just the battery and re-use the connector and 2) what sort of battery is it (they are usually 2032)?  I'm hoping just to have to take the laptop apart once to fit a new battery, rather than one time to find out what the battery is and then again to fit the replacement.

Yes you can & we do this all the time as cheaper than buying purpose cabled batteries & we can buy better quality cells & they are very new & not very old stock which is case when buying complete in many cases.
just remove the insulation carefully then pull the cable from its spot weld points noting polarity then remount to new cell. You can solder it if you have a nice hot iron & do it really quickly applying little heat to the cell.
Check cable connector for voltage reading before wrapping assembly.
Use some shrink wrap for first insulation wrap of cell & cable & hot air gun to shape it nicely to cell & taper down to cable.
Use some electical tape for a second wrap & make sure back end is sealed with tape then do a nice neat wrap around the assembly & all should be good.
just make sure you buy a quility 3V lithium cell (2032) & not china rubbish. Also use a good quality amalgamating insulation tape.

  • RTC battery problem A215-S7437

    Hi all,
I have been having problems with my Satellite A215-S7437 laptop getting a "CMOS checksum bad" error upon startup for the past couple of months. This error usually occurs the first time I start the computer up in the morning. I press F1 to load defaults and windows starts as normal. No bigs. I tried to charge the RTC battery by leaving the computer plugged in (charging) and on for 24 hours. This didn't seem to help. I also recently updated the BIOS to the latest version. This hasn't helped either.
In addition, sometimes, especially when I haven't turned the computer on for a while, it will fail to boot. No splash screen, just lights and normal HD powering up sound but nothing else. I power-cycle the machine about 10 times and eventually it will start, give me two system beeps and the checksum bad error. I hit F1 to load defaults and Windows starts normally. Today I got a new error "ERROR 0250: System battery is dead - replace and run SETUP. ERROR 02B0: Diskette drive A error. Press F1 to load defaults, F2 to setup." The machine did not respond when I pressed F1 or F2, so I power-cycled it and got my familiar CMOS checksum bad error and it started as usual.
All this to say that I am convinced that my RTC battery is well and truly the cause of my problems and should be replaced. Now, the question is whether or not it can be done without sending my ~3-year-old laptop to a ASP 3 hours away and paying an arm and a leg. I do have a kind friend who I am confident can perform laptop surgery to replace the RTC battery without killing it.
Does anyone know what kind of RTC battery this model takes? Is it soldered to the motherboard? How much would it cost to have the ASP take care of it?
    Thanks for all your help.
    Regards,
    T

    Hello
Googling around I found info that for Satellite A210 (similar to your US A215) you can use follow RTC batteries:
    RTC battery (Maxell ML1220T10) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 14 mAH
    RTC battery (Maxell ML1220HT10) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 18 mAH
    RTC battery (Sanyo ML1220T28) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 15 mAH
    RTC battery (Panasonic ML1220/B) Lithium-Ion 3.0V 17 mA
Replacement procedure is pretty complicated and the whole notebook must be disassembled. If you are not familiar with this stuff you should not do this to avoid some hardware damage.
I dont know how much you must pay for replacement by ASP. Call and ask them.
    Bye
