Replacing Safari when it fails to open

Question

I also have a similar problem with Safari on my G4 iBook. Safari will not start. It does not even bounce. I am presently using 10.3.9 on that iBook. I am using my Macbook for this transmission. There is no information except that it is 1.3.2. I suppose I have to download 1.3.1 and then upgrade. Right. This is the first problem I have had with this problem since I began using Macs (about 1984). I have never had to replace a "partial" application.
I have read your posts concerning 10.4.8 and have already downloaded the software you suggested. I just want confirmation that there are no other situations with the earlier system.
You seem to know your stuff.

Hi Frank
To reinstall Safari Panther
First, download a copy of Safari 1.2 from here. Next, apply the 10.3.9 combined update to upgrade Safari to 1.3. While the update is running, do not use the computer for any other tasks (good upgrade strategy). Once completed and the computer restarts, "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
Next, apply the 1.3.1 update, followed by the 1.3.2 update. Once finished, again "repair permissions".
