Replacing SD-R6112 - which drives are compatible for Satellite A30?

Hi,
I would like to replace my old CD DVD combo drive SD-R6112 installed on a satellite A30 laptop into a newer drive. (another drive which could burn DVD faster and burn DVD double layer if possible.)
Do you know which model I could buy in order to replace my old defect SD-R6112?

Hello guys
Fact is that you will need a drive with the right master /slave or c-sel settings.
Not compatible drives with wrong settings would be not recognized by BIOS.
You should also know that these settings cannot be changed like on the external drive by switching the jumpers.
Therefore I would really recommend asking the ASP in your country for compatible devices.
I have investigated a little bit in the net and found these:
- Matsu****a CD-RW/DVD-ROM UJDA740,
- Matsu****a DVD-RAM UJ-810,
- Matsu****a DVD-ROM SR-8177
- TOSHIBA CD-RW/DVD SD-R2212,
- TOSHIBA DVD-R/-RW SD-R6012
Hope I could help

  • What optical drive is compatible with Satellite A30

    Hi,
My A30-104's builtin DVD/CDRW drive seems to be on the way out (fails to mount most disks, just clicks a lot and tries/fails to spin up) so I need to go about replacing it. I have two questions:
    1) The drive is listed as "Toshiba SD-R2412" and I found plenty of matches for this on eBay. However, some listings mention an additional 3-digit number (e.g. 202, 209 etc.) after the designation. What does this mean, and how can I find out the number for my drive (and is it i that important)?
    2) Is there a DVD-writer available in teh same form-factor, and would it be likely to work with my laptop?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
The additional notebook drives numbers are not know to me and I dont know the meaning.
However, you have to know that not all drives can be used in the notebook. The CD/DVD drive supports different master/slave/ c-sel settings which are not changeable and sometimes dont match with the notebook.
Therefore you have to use only the drives recommended by Toshiba! As far as I know the different compatible drives are listed in the user manual. Please take a look there!
I found a several supported drives. For example:
    TEAC DW-224E
    TEAC DV-W22-85
    Toshiba SD-C2612
    Toshiba SD-R2412
But as said above, check the user manual. All drives listed there
    Greetings

  • Which driver to use for Satellite A300 - Latest one, by date or by version?

For my laptop (A300-1HV) I am looking at the driver downloads available.
There are many drivers which have a LATER modified date but LOWER version number.
Or if you like, an EARLIER modified date and HIGHER version number.
How do I decide which is the most up-to-date driver?
    Thanks.

You can install your own operating system without problems. As you can see all necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page.
To be honest I do not understand what confuses you so much. Usually there is one driver for each hardware component and just one version for each tool or utility.
If you have question about some specific driver or tool please let us know and we can try to help you.
Please install all stuff following installations order. If you cannot find it let us know.
    Good luck!

  • What lightscribe CD/DVD drives are compatible with Satellite P300

    Very fast.
What optical lightscribe drives i can mount in my Toshiba Satellite P300.
At now i have pioneer dvr-kd08 but i wont lightscribe.

This is not that easy to say as compatibility depends on the slave/master settings and therefore you would need to ask an ASP.
Maybe check some lightscribe ODDs and ask the guys from ASP.
But honestly, would you really want to waste your money on this feature? I know, those discs look pretty nice when used ligthscribe on it, but is it worth it?
I have one in my other notebook but I have only used it once.
And you will need special blank CDs/DVDs with this surface to use lightscribe feature.

  • What DVD drives are compatible with Equium A60 PSA67E?

my question; what dvd drives are compatible for an equium a60 (psa67e-001001en)?
background; i did a very silly thing! whilst i was in japan and about 18 months after purchasing my a60 in the uk, the dvd drive packed up. i replaced it with a teac dvd drive and it worked like a dream! i threw the old drive away (i think it was a matsu****a, but can't remember the exact model). anyway, i came home and had a bit of spare time on my hands so i decided to tweak my machine and corrupted the windows xp registry.
Now the windows xp runs in a loop, i can't get access to it and i need to wipe the hard drive and start again basically. i put the recovery disk in, but the computer doesn't read from it and frustratingly finds its way to the loopy windows. i have determined that it is not recognising the teac drive that i used to replace the old one. i think if i put an original type back in, the firmware may recognise the drive and i'll be back in business.... or so i hope!
of course, any other advice would be gratefully received too! thanks.
work around??? ps... a work around i thought up... copy the contents of the recovery disk on to a hard drive (using my old computer) then swap the current hdd in my a60 with it... theory; when the computer finds the contents during booting, it will install xp on another part of that hard drive and i'll have a working machine again. could something like that work???????? any thoughts????

    thanks again friend!
as it turns out, that pioneer drive rung bells.
though my TEAC (DV-w28e) replacement looks identical to my previous drive and has worked ok with windows, at "the bios level" it is not being recognised... is that something you would have expected???? i must admit, with windows, the TEAC outperformed the original drive and was surprised it wasn't reading my recovery disk after my self infliction! i also tried using a usb hdd loaded up with the recovery disk and that didn't work.
but you answered my question so thanks a million for that.

MBP Retina, 15 inch, Late 2013. Intel Core i7.  OSX 10.9.4
Which External Hard Drives are compatible with Time Machine.
I plan to use one drive for automatic backups connected to an Airport Extreme.
The connection can be USB or Ethernet and should be expandable.
    OR
should I just buy the Time capsule and avoid the compatibility, connection and interference issues.
    Thanks

    Hi Kappy,
I just saw that on the Apple Support site that "Time Machine is not supported with USB hard drives that are connected to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme device", just as you have suggested.
Why is the newest model of the Airport Extreme, which is the model I have, an exception to the Time Machine compatibility?
The following information is from Apple website:
    Time Machine works with:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard drive (any model)
External USB hard drive connected to AirPort Time Capsule (any model)
An external hard drive connected to your Mac
Use the Time Machine pane of System Preferences to choose your backup disk(s).
    Additional Information
Time Machine is not supported with USB hard drives that are connected to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme device.

  • Which USB 64GB flash drives are compatible with Mac Mini?

I need to use a USB 64GB flash drive, formatted for both PC and Apple, with my Mac Mini. The largest USB flash that Apple sells is 32GB. Which USB 64GB flash drives are compatible with Mac Mini. If most are, are there any that I should avoid? Thanks.

I'm assuming that when I connect the USB to the Mac it gets formatted for Mac. Then I follow your directions and it gets formatted for Windows, in addition to Mac. I'd choose ExFAT since it is a 64GB USB.
No no. A brand new drive will be formatted as "something", most likely something for Windows, and that could be FAT (which a Mac can also read and write to) or NTFS (which a Mac can read but not write to).
So, you'll need to make sure it's formatted as ExFAT, instead of what it is. A medium can be in always only one format.
About the expense: Fry's is advertising a 64GB Patriot USB Flash Drive for $22.99. Is that considered expensive for a USB flash drive?
That'd be dirt-cheap, I'd say. Expect it to be very slow.
I've read answers that are somewhat related to my question, and some warn that USB's are slow. Maybe I should consider another option?
USB is not that slow (though there are faster buses). And USB flash drives come in different speeds, where especially the "write" speed can vary hugely.
The advantage of USB is that it's widely spread, and lots of media is on the market, making it very affordable. The only other affordable alternative is an external HDD, I'd say, where you get much bigger drives for less money than a small 64GB USB flash drive...
My main objective is that, in switching from Windows to Mac, I want to be able to access Windows files that I've backed up to a Seagate Free Agent. I bought a LaCie with the Mac Mini, but will still want to use the Free Agent. I need to reformat the Free Agent for the Mac (hopefully for Mac and Windows; while learning to use the Mac and Numbers and Pages I may have emergency jobs that I'll need to do with Excel and Word on the PC), so my plan is to move the files on the Free Agent to the 64GB flash drive, reformat the Free Agent so that, hopefully, the Mac will read the files on it after I move them back to the Free Agent from the USB.
Why don't you copy the content of the Free Agent meanwhile to the Mac's HDD? Then copy it back after re-formatting the Free Agent? Why would you need an extra USB drive?
Any ideas you have about how to achieve this objective will be appreciated. Maybe I should buy a third, small, external hard drive? Maybe there is a way to move the Windows files from the Seagate to the LaCie?
Exactly... you seem to have already extra space on the LaCie drive...
My understanding is that the Apple Store does not want to move files from an external hard drive to the Mac.
I don't know where this could origin, but that's as wrong as it is funny. What has the App Store to do with you moving some files from one drive to another?
I should add that I don't have enough remaining free space on the PC hard drive to hold the files on the Free Agent, so that is not an option.
No, but you have a Mac with a built-in HDD, and you got the LaCie drive. Again, the Mac should have neither a problem to read from the Free Agent, nor to write to the LaCie.
From what you're telling here, you have lots of space already with what you have, I can't see the need for the USB flash drive, at least not for the purpose you mention here.
It seems that your understanding is that (a) a drive comes in a particular format for, or not for Mac, and you can't change it, and (b) that for some reason (App Store?!) Macs aren't allowed to copy files from external files. Well, both is wrong...

  • Which hdds are compatible with hp pavilion dv6700t cto entertainment notebook pc (out of warranty)

I recently purchased a Seagate momentus as replacement http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591 thinking it would be compatible but when i tried to replace
the connections(interface) was not compatible with the laptop. Is there an adapter to resolve this problem?
if not which hdds are compatible?

    Hi,
If you have the original HDD, check that there is not a black plastic adapter that you can pull off the old drive and fit to the new one.

  • How can I determine what internal DVD drives are compatible w/ my G5?

I'd like to put a new DVD drive in my G5. It's one of the original 1.8 dual machines, with some extra RAM. I'm having trouble with the drive these days, and I'd like to figure out what drives are compatible. Thoughts?

I cannot speak for all drives but today I installed a Pioneer 710 ( same drive as 111 ) in place of the original Pioneer 106.
I have only tested it with Toast to burn a DVD-R and playing a CD and all is well.

  • Which upgrades are relevant for me?

    Hi all.
I am going to order the new iMac 21,5" 2.9 GHz and I need some help figuring out which upgrades are relevant for me.
I am going to use the iMac for the following:
    - Webdesign (my profession)
    - Photoshop and perhaps other Adobe applications
    - Lots and lots of multitasking and many tabs in browsers
    - Screen Flow application (screen recording software)
    - Dual boot with Windows 7
    - Time Capsule backups
    - Gaming (Sims 3 primarily - in Windows 7)
I want it to be "future proof", but since hyperthreading isn't widely used in applications yet and people write that the majority of people never go beyond 4GB of RAM i'm onsure whether I should upgrade the CPU and RAM.
Also, since the iMac 21,5" is not user-upgradeable after you get it, I want to make sure that I don't end up having a slow computer that I wish I would have made better/faster. I just want it to function fast and smooth. Today I have a MBP 15" medio 2009, 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, which I think performs overall well but is a bit slow sometimes.
The only upgrade I seem sure of for now is the 1TB Fusion Drive.
    Thanks in advance!

Although I am sure you have seen all this ... this is the formal description of that machine. Apple (United Kingdom) - iMac - Technical Specifications
I cannot answer you questions about the specific tasks you plan to use it for; they are simply outside of my knowledge base, but you do raise points about being 'future proof', as you describe it, and I am afraid Apple is no more future proof than any other computer.  It is a fact that the sales of Apple machines rely on upgrading at periodic intervals, often using upgrades that were designed and known about two years before.   That, I'm afraid, is business.
As far as the RAM is concerned you will have to decide between 8 GB and 16 GB when you order it as it cannot be RAM increased afterwards.   (The 27" can, I understand.
Very much based on talk within the forums but I hope this is of some help to you.

  • Which archivelogs are required for restoring database

I'm moving to RMAN direct to tape backups (via Netbackup). I'm hoping someone can clarify for me which archivelogs are needed for restoring/recovering a RMAN "hot" backup.
I will have two tape pools with different retention periods:
    - standard (kept for 2 months)
    - long term (kept for 7 years)
I plan to backup as follows:
    - archivelogs every 15 mins direct to the standard pool
    - daily backups to the standard pool
    - monthend backups to the long term pool
Month ends will either be a full or a full plus a cumulative (level 2) (depending on the weekday that month end falls on).
The bit I'm concerned about is archivelogs. After 2 months they will be expired on tape. But do I need archive logs in order to restore the month end backups?
At the moment I record the SCN before the backup begins and after it finishes (retrieved via select first_change# first_scn from v$log where status = 'CURRENT'). Before recording the post-backup SCN, I force a logfile switch.
For clones, I always restore to the post-backup SCN that I previously recorded (rather than using the tag I associated with the backup).
So a few questions related to restoring after the 2 month window:
    - do I need the archivelogs created during the timespan of the backup ran in order to restore to the post-backup SCN?
    - If so, is just backing up these archivelogs (to the long term pool) by specifying the range of pre-backup SCN to post-backup SCN sufficient or are additional archivelogs likely to be required?
    - if I restore the database and don't specify an SCN but just specify the tag used at the time of the backup, will archive logs be required at all? In this case what would be the state of the restored database - would it be as it was at the beginning or at the end of the backup?

    Hi user4835675,
do I need the archivelogs created during the timespan of the backup ran in order to restore to the post-backup SCN?Yes.
If so, is just backing up these archivelogs (to the long term pool) by specifying the range of pre-backup SCN to post-backup SCN sufficient or are additional
archivelogs likely to be required? Can you do a skip of the daily backup schedule duing the monthend backups run and run the "archivelogs every 15 mins" job to the long term pool?
Or temporarily stop the "archivelogs every 15 mins" job during the monthend job and run the monthend backup with the "backup database plus archivelog" clause?
if I restore the database and don't specify an SCN but just specify the tag used at the time of the backup, will archive logs be required at all?Yes, you need archivelogs to recover the datafiles to a consistent state.
In this case what would be the state of the restored database - would it be as it was at the beginning or at the end of the backup? You can only restore to a point in time which past the end of the backup.

Which tables are used for Quality Efficiency calculation of OEE report ?
According to I know, the definition of Quality Efficiency is (complete qty) / (start qty).
For this calculation, does OEE report just use qty_started and qty_completed of PRODUCTION_LOG table?
If any other tables/columns/logic are implemented, your information is appreciated.
