Replacing the background in a cartoon movie

I have a cartoon that shows the famous Hollywood sign in the background, and I want to replace "Hollywood" with someone's name. Is this possible? I can easily do one frame in photoshop, but does that mean I need to replace every frame or is there an easier way? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thanks :-)
I'm posting this in multiple forums as I imagine this will combine skills in photoshop, premiere, and after effects, and I am familiar with all three.

As Mylenium said, you need to isolate foreground and background objects - i.e. you need to rotoscope them. It's much easier to do with Mocha (which is included with AE).
You may start learning it here or there. Tutorials are downloadable, so if you have some troubles with watching those tutorials online (sometimes Imagineer's server is down), just dowload the files. Or simply google 'rotoscoping with mocha'.
And yes, do it for the sake of your skills improvement, bearing in mind copyright issues.

How to replace the background in cs3?

I have had unsuccessful attempts to mask the subjects against the black background (following this to mask the subject: http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2009/archives/5384).
I couldn't select just the black background as subject's hair is also in black color.
How to separate the background in these situations?

Along with the excellent tips above, two things that might help you create your Mask would be to explore the Channels in Lab Mode (Image>Mode>Lab Mode), as there is different info in those Channels. Also, I have used Image>Adjustments>Highlight & Shadow on a dupe Layer (Ctrl+J) to get more separation between the hair and the background. Use that to "see" the areas that you need to include in the Mask, or delete from the Mask. When done, just Delete that adjusted Dupe Layer, as it's only for you to "find" the edges of the hair.
Good luck, and be patient. The time that you take will pay off with a great Mask. Those are part art, part science and an investment in time.

Rendered movie is replacing black background

I can't seem to get an exported movie to export correctly. It's a computer generated sequence with an all black background. It's almost as if Premiere pro tries to replace the background as a green screen effect. How do I fix this?

The fastest/easiest way to erase/replace photo backgrounds w/ Apple sofware

Hi,
I am taking mostly pictures of my family and most of the files are .jpgs. I like iPhoto '08 very much and its editing capabilities are enough for me. However, occasionally I have the need to erase/replace the background of some photos. I am not sure if / how this can be done in iPhoto?
I do not have the patience or interest to learn Photoshop or the like so I am interested in solutions that are very fast and easy (if they exist). If I cannot use iPhoto for the aforementioned task, would you please recommend something that is intuitive and gets results fast? I do prefer Apple software but I am open to your suggestions. The keywords are: intuitive, fast and not too expensive.

In Preview open the picture. In the toolbar at the topp of the picture window. pick Select a drop down window should appear and *Instant Alpha* is at the bottom of the drop down window.

How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned.If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:

Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results. That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option. Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.

On windows movie maker you could just select "fit to music" but this program isnt as easy to figure out! Any help?

Double-click on the still image in the project timeline to open the Inspector. In the Inspector, adjust the duration by typing in a new duration to match the length of your music. I think the limit for a still image is 10 minutes. If you need more than this, simply drag the image into the timeline again then adjust its duration. The two images will play seamlessly (no gap will be visible).

You can achieve more precision when entering durations by changing a preference in the menu item iMovie Preferences. Check (tick) the preference for Show Time As HH:MM:SS:frames. This will enable you to enter the duration of stills down to the frame level, rather than full seconds (NTSC is 30 frames per second; PAL is 25 fps). When entering times, type a colon between each time segment, such as 2:50:15, which represents 2 minutes 50 seconds and 15 frames. For 5 seconds 20 frames you would enter 5:20 and so forth.
Note that the music will only run to the length of the video in the timeline (in your case, the still images). So, after increasing the stills duration you will need to drag the end of the music track as far as required. The stills can be dragged inwards to reduce the duration if necessary.

Create a new PDF with the updates. Open the old one and use Document>Replace pages. That will replace the background while leaving the current form fields intact.

How can I insert an image into an mov file in iMovie while keeping the background music?

I have a short MOV file movie clip that has background music but one of the images (it's a static element with text) is incorrect. How can I replace the image but keep the backgroup the same? Also what size would the image need to be to properly fit?

Whenever I need to create a matte I tend to look for the easiest solution first. In most cases involving the sky you can create what is called a procedural matte using the color channels, color controls and matte tools. It's called a procedural matte because we use a procedure instead of doing it by hand. In many cases the camera is also moving in the shot so some tracking may be required.
This tutorial shows how to use Set Channels and Colorama to create a luma matte and Mocha to track camera movement.
My technique for creating a matte from the sky is a little different. Take a close look at this screenshot. It demonstrates the creation of a procedural matte from your shot in under 5 minutes. The black solid is just a garbage matte for the foreground. Pre-compose this and use it as an alpha matte for your shot and you should be good to go.

I need to run cogi in background with CORUAFWP program , but I need that the system replace the movement date.
Exactly replace the error date to the system date during the movement creation.
I know to do this when i manually run COGI.
How can I do this in the background job ?

I had two files named graphics and I replaced one graphics file with another which was the wrong one. Can I undo my replacement? I move the wrong one, which was on my desktop into another one and that is when it as me if I wanted to replace the file.

I had two files named graphics. One was on my desktop and another was within another file called solitarie. I move the one on my desktop (wrong file) into the solitarie file and was asked if I wanted to replace the graphics file in the solitarie folder (the correct one). I said yes accidently and then remembered that I had made a mistake. If I use undo, it only move the wrong file back to the desktop. Is there an undo of replace?

Sorry, but's that's why you get the warning. "Replace" means just that - the new file over-writes the old one. There is no undo.

Having a problem with mini dvi to hdmi. Can see the background, but must move all screens all the way to the right to see on tv. Any solutions?

I'm having an issue with setting up mini dvi to hdmi. I can connect and see the background picture from my macbook (approx 4 years old) but in order to see any screens or video, I have to move the screen almost all the way off the macbook display to the right. Any ideas why this would happen? Also, there is no audio, although when I bought the adapter and cable at the Mac store, they assured me it would handle both.

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Displays on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will makethe second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in ClamshellMode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.
No Mini-DVI adapter can carry audio. The only MacBook that sends audio is the Mid 2010 model 7,1 through a Mini DisplayPort.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

You need to combine all the links to one HTML file.
You only need a file with Anchor links like this:

If you export bookmarks to an HTML file then you create a copy of your bookmarks and you edit that copy and you do not affect the original bookmarks.

Try running Pandora in its own tab and leaving that tab open (Safari 7.1.5, OS 10.9.5). I don't have Pandora to try this, but it works for me otherwise.
