Replacing the bottom case on my 1.33 PB

I just replaced the screen on my PB.I just picked up a mint condition bottom case
{My bottom case is in bad shape} I checked my iFixit.com and cannot find a guide on how to replace the bottom case.Any ideas? Thanks

I forgot to say that usually I put full links because it's easier for people to see that what's being posted is a link that they need to go to. Also helps them visualize what the link is for future reference. I know you've seen some of my old posts where I do utilize embedded links instead of putting the huge/long web addresses.
For instance, I could easily say, "Go look at this LINK for more info." They'd click on the word thread and never make a connection. Some may miss it altogether, overlooking the fact that it is a link. Those that notice it won't have a reference point going into the page. It'd be better to have something to look at.
Like, go to this link for more information:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6454427
Or even, see the following link, "Thermal Paste Thermal Tape Question Logic Board" for more information.
You can see that in this, case, the link doesn't really present an issue because it's not long. And I don't think, for the times I haven't used the HREF method, that I've put drastically long links that wrap the page. (Also, I e-mailed you earlier about something, in case you don't check, if you know what I mean).

By the way, that thread may be of help when replacing the bottom case, since you'll need thermal paste and Kapton tape on hand, even a spudger--Apple "black stick"--during the installation process.
(And we might be reminded, you and I, of going off topic. And we wouldn't want that now, would we?).

  • Replaced the bottom case on MBP (2006)...now screen is blank!?  Need help ASAP...please!

I just replaced the bottom case on my 2006 MBP (model A1211). I previously replaced the top case, optical, and disk drives and all has been running as good as new for months. I used the instructions on ifixit.com to replace the bottom case, following the instructions exactly. Now when I go to turn the computer on, the screen doesn't turn on. I thought maybe a connection or screw was loose, so I disconnected and reconnected everything. All connections are tight, no screws are loose or missing. What am *I* missing??

Nothing at all, guys? This has to be fairly common and I'm just missing something obvious?

  • How long does it take for the Genius Bar to replace the bottom case of my Macbook?

I bought this Macbook on Christmas Eve '09 and by last year summer, the bottom casing was peeling off and I now know that Apple is replacing macbook bottom cases free of charges regardless of warranty status. What I would like to know is, if I take it to the Genius Bar, would I have to wait for more than a day? Or would it take as much as one hour?

I would say that it depends on the store.  I would give your local Apple store a call and ask them.  If they have the parts in store I believe you'll be in an out as long as you make an appointment.

  • Replacing the bottom case

I just noticed last night that the grey bottom case of my 13" Macbook just started to come off. My 1-year warrenty just expired in May, so I wanted to know how much it would cost for them to replace the part?
By the way, I'm currently living in Japan. Does that change things?

  • Replacing the upper case?

I had some problems with a bad tech about a year ago on my MBP (mid 2010, unibody), where one of the rubber feet came off, and I took it into the apple store.  They decided to replace them for free for me, but in the process dented the unibody lower case so that the bottom does not fit perfectly.  Well, they didn't record this, and then told me I would have to pay to fix it and my computer was out of warranty.
In any case, I have just delt with it since, but now, I was thinking that I may just replace the bottom case myself, but can't seem to find anything to tell me the right way to take it apart so that I don't damage anything.  I've found some of the cases, online, for around $100, and when I went to the apple store, they told me it was several hundred dollars.
Besides all of my frustration in this not being my fault, I am trying to decide what is my best course of action here.  To buy a case and install it myself, or just to sell it (computer works fine, has Mountain Lion, no damage to screen, just some scratches on the bottom of the case, and the dent mentioned), and buy a newer one.  Just not sure how much I would get for it, now.

  • I had the bottom case of my MacbookPro replaced and now I can't print help?

Hi I had the bottom case to my Macbook Pro 2.33 Ghz intel core 2 duo replaced. Prior to this the machine worked perfectly. Now it can't connect to the internet using DHCP and it won't print either over the internet or with the printer plugged in directly. I can connect over airport to the internet if I manually put in the IPv4 address, the Subnet mask and the Router address. These are the only things I have found (so far) that are affected. I dowloaded and reinstalled the printer driver and it still doesn't work. Any ideas as to what they have done to my machine ?
    Thanks

When the ethernet cable is plugged in it does show as plugged in. The interesting thing is that the self assigned IP and Subnet mask address is the same as the self assigned IP and Subnet mask address is for Airport and they don't work. I have to manually enter them and the router address in order to go on the internet. There are 4 other computers using this network and no other computer on the network is having this issue nor did this laptop prior to the bottom case replacement, so I don't think it is the router modem or airport extreme base station.
    It shows:
    IPv4 address: 169.254.197.177
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
These numbers are quite off from what they should be. Also this doesn't show a router address and it should.

  • Putting the bottom case back on my ibook

I just replaced my hard drive in my 14 inch ibook G3 with a 60 gigabyte seagate hard drive.the new hard drive works great., now I am trying to put the bottom case back on, everything connects fine, but the only problem I run into is the case doesn't seem connect near the battery area of the ibook. Does anybody have any tips for installing the bottom case properly, everything else closes nicely, but just the area near the battery won't latch close. It's that whole area. Thank you.

The correct set of directions can be found here:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/iBook-G3-14-Inch/Lower-Case
Unfortunately, the instructions concentrate on disassembling the iBook, and tell you to simply reverse the steps to put it back together, but maybe that will help.

  • If i want to replace the back case for an iphone 3g and i provide the back case, will Apple do the actual replacement for me?

The black back case on my iphone 3g is cracked. i would like to replace the back case with a new white one. I saw the video on how to do the replacement on youtube and found it complicated. if i take the new back case and the phone to Apple, will the replace the broken back case for me?

Regarding the iPhone 3G, the only repair that Apple Genius does on that device is the Front Screen Replacement. So they could help you get the front assembly back on when you are done with the repair. To give you a better idea, the Genius do not even replace the battery on the iPhone 3G. Apple will not help you with this repair.

  • Why do we have to replace the top case to replace a keyboard?

I see replacement keyboards sold all over the place online which means they must be able to com apart from the case. If this wasn't possible then why are these parts for sale and who are they intended for? People keep saying that you must replace the top case but you can buy just the keyboard from many sources. Can someone clear this up please? There wouldn't be a market for just the keyboad if you couldn't do it, so it's hard to believe it can't be done.....

Found two places on ifixit that explain how to do this... for anyone that may be looking for the same answer. You do NOT have to replace the entire upper case

  • The left hinge has an odd gap and the bottom case has clicking noise.

I just noticed that my 19-day-old macbook pro has an uneven hinge gap.
    And the bottom case has squeaky noise when I lifting the macbook pro with one hand;
as well as when I pressing lightly where the spots near the batteries that under the trackpad.
Should I go to retail store to get repair or do something?

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Any have an idea of cost to replace the gold case on a 5s?

Anyone have an idea of cost to replace the gold case on a 5s?

Apple doesn't replace the case or sell the parts.  Your only option with Apple is to replace the phone.  The out-of-warranty replacement cost with a refurb unit for the 5s is $269 (in the USA)
