Replacing title of movie

Normally when I have a movie, the file name shows in the title bar of Quicktime.
However someone sent me a movie and it has a set title, so even if I save as something different, the original title remains .
In Show Movie properties I can see the name there and can remove it by selecting the text and hitting backspace, but then the movie just has a missing title in the QT Titlebar or shows a greyed out QT icon, whereas I want this to show the filename as usual.

Many people seem to think that "file container formats" and "compression formats" are the same thing. They aren't. "File compression format" refers to the manner (or codec) in which the file data was compressed while the "file container format" refers to the type of file in which the data is contained. Think of this as water, milk, coffee, tea, etc. as compared to the glass, cup, mug, etc. in which it is contained. H.264/AAC data is normally stored in M4V, MP4, or MOV file container on a Mac. The M4V file container normally, by default, automatically opens in iTunes and normally contains H.264/AAC media data with optional AC3 audio, chapter, time, etc. tracks possible. On the other hand, an MP4 file can contain either MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC data along with additional track data but is not multiplexed with AC3 audio. The MOV file, however, is a generic file container and may contain up to 99 tracks of any valid form of compressed data (to include MPEG1, MPEG2, or third-party compression formats) which may or may not be supported on any particular platform.
So much for the background. By default, any time you use the "Save As..." option, the main audio and video tracks are automatically stored in a separate MOV (generic) file container. Other data tracks may or may not be copied depending on their specific nature. This action does not, however, "re-compress" the audio and video data which remains in its original compression format--i.e., it has only been "poured" in a different container. This is opposed to the "Save" option which may save minor changes in the file properties in the original file container without having to write the data to a new file container. If the changes cannot be supported in the original file container, then the application will automatically be switched to the "Save As..." operation.

Yes, you have to create a Project first. In iMovie's menu select File>New Project. Now drag clips (or portions of clips) to the Project from the Event. Drag titles from the Title pane on the lower right of the iMovie window (Click on the T icon to activate the Title pane). The title can be dragged onto a video clip in the Project or to a gap between clips. In the latter case you will be able to select a background from the pop-up "Choose Background" panel.

I updated to IOS7 and now I can not see the titles of movies on ipad

I can no longer see the titles of my movies on my ipad once I updated to IOS7 .... Is this a bug or is there a way around it?

In iOS7 the titles of movies are NOT below the films. I have 24 work demo films that I have made on my iPad and and now I have to search through them one by one to find the title in the current design. How do I get the titles back?
They all start with the name of my company ... and then the subject so a "The" has to be accounted for.
iOS7 is not shown below as an option!

I'm right there with you guys. Same problem. I'm repairing permissions with the disk utility to see if that helps. I'll let you know.

Many users have solved the problem by syncing several times; and if that doesn't work, perform a simple restore. Your titles will come back.

Titles Freezing Movie Clips in Premiere 9

The video portion of my movie clips keep freezing when I add a title to it in Premiere 9. The audio portion continues playing without issues, only the video portion seems to be affected. Any thoughts?

I just spent another 2 hrs. + trying to still resolve the problem. I have started a new project, I uninstalled and reinstalled with their people, and when I was told a higher lever technician would get back to me in 3-4 days, I started to politely demand some kind of explanation for taking my valuable time. I have used Premiere Elements for years and now, after being told by their techs to upgrade to PE9, I am have a time-consuming issue.
So now, as it has been explained to me, they are going to look through the system log and try to discover from the "errors" what is causing this to continue. It has been established twice there is nothing wrong with my computer. Everything is upgraded, etc.
So, we shall see. In the meantime, I will review the information you sent. Thanks again!

Replaced title name track with "check"

Last year, my MacBook internal drive crashed. I had backups with the earlier version of Backup by Apple. I installed a new drive, did a clean install, and retrieved all the files I needed from Backup. I went back now and then to find other files, and was pleased with being able to recover them.
When I finally could replace the MacBook, I bought my current MBP. The older MacBook was not C2D, and I needed to run Lion and then Mountain Lion for some reason I can't remember now. I can't remember because I have been trying to recover from upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion, and Lion to Mountain Lion.
Since the update, MBP does not recognize previous Time Machine backups. I have performed clean installs about 4 times, following the advice from the support forum here and cross-referenced several online sources. I have performed:
--Migration Assistant
--Taking all steps of MA, including trying to initiate Time Machine's recognition of my backups there.
The main trouble I am having is with iTunes. After the migration from MacBook to MBP, iTunes had an upgrade. Somehow, a few tracks from many albums appeared, but not entire albums.
I downloaded iRip and transferred my iPod music to iTunes. All went fairly well, encouraging. Now, however, I have almost 300 songs, books, and other media with the name "check" (without quotes). I had over 800 immediately after the transfer, but I was able to recover over 500 song and book titles by pressing the control key as I clicked on a song title. When one worked, I selected all items named "check" and created a smart playlist named "check." I control-clicked, and many titles were restored.
Now, I am struggling with two additional problems:
1. The 300+ titles are mostly music I purchased on iTunes. Is there a known problem with iRip and purchased music? I dread going one by one to change the titles. Is there a more efficient way? (I've been working at this for a year, have not yet gone to the Genius Bar, but tomorrow might be the day I make that long trip.)
2. While I am pleased to have my iPod music, podcasts, books, iTunesU and other files from my iPod, I am missing a lot of music that I had unchecked last year. All of my holiday music was unchecked, and that started my attempt again to recover my entire collection. I do not understand why my purchased music is not available for me to re-download it, but I've so far not been able to work with the purchased files, other than to see the lists of all purchases since 2004.
I hope someone/s has/have worked through these issues and might share some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Thanks again for your kindness and good support. I had some trouble with deleting the first Source file from the Assets box because the source file was connected to two menus. Since my friend built the menus, I was not sure how to disconnect the first Source file from the menus. This meant that, while I could delete or move the PAR files, I was not able to delete the first Source file from the Assets.
So, I tried a slightly different approach. I changed the name of the first Source file in the original FCP Quicktime file to a completley different name. After doing this, I made a duplicate of the second Source file and renamed the duplicate the same name as the original Source file. Of course, I had to re-import the new first Source file with the same name and different video content into DVD Studio Pro. I used only the changed first Source video file and things worked after a lengthy delay building and encoding the recognizably different first Source file (with now different content).
Does this make any sense? Also, if you are reading this, would you mind explaining how to disconnect an Asset that is connected to the Menu in order to delete the asset file?

I had two files named graphics and I replaced one graphics file with another which was the wrong one. Can I undo my replacement? I move the wrong one, which was on my desktop into another one and that is when it as me if I wanted to replace the file.

I had two files named graphics. One was on my desktop and another was within another file called solitarie. I move the one on my desktop (wrong file) into the solitarie file and was asked if I wanted to replace the graphics file in the solitarie folder (the correct one). I said yes accidently and then remembered that I had made a mistake. If I use undo, it only move the wrong file back to the desktop. Is there an undo of replace?

Sorry, but's that's why you get the warning. "Replace" means just that - the new file over-writes the old one. There is no undo.

Replace one swf movie with another

I have a flash movie on my web page and I have made some of
the text inside the movie into buttons. The movie only takes up a
portion of the page. I would like to replace the movie with another
movie when somebody clicks the button.
I'm sorry if this is a really basic question but I have spent
ages trying to find out how to do it and I keep getting an error

I have a swf file (sunnyserv.swf) that contains a pre-loader
and then opens another swf file (downturn.swf). The downturn.swf
contains the buttons that I want to listen to, and swap out the
movies.
If I open sunnyserv.fla in flash and test the movie, it loads
downturn.swf, listens to the mouse click and runs the
communication.swf movie (although it doesn't clear all of the
children from downturn.swf).
However, if I export all three movies and open my web page
nothing happens! If I change the xhtml to load downturn.swf that
works ok. Any idea why it would work in test movie but not when
loaded into an xhtml page?
Also, can you see a reason why all of the children are not
being removed in the commClickHandler function?

Replace title with contents in h1 tag

I am using the find and replace function with regular
expression to update the text between <title></title>
with the text between <h1></h1>.
I have the regular expression
"<title>(<%=PageTitle%>)((.|)((.|\n)*)(<h1>)([A-Za-z0-9.\s]+)(</h1>)" which can find all the code from the
<title> to the </h1>. I used the following code at the
replace textbox: "<title>$5$2$4$5$6"
Because some of the content are template and nothing happens
after the replace.
Anyone has any good ideas to help me implement that? I have
thousands of pages need to do.

the title text with $5, and the rest keep what they were.

How Can You Slow the Titles in Movie Trailer Down?

I love the new movie trailers in iMovie, but I need to slow the title slide down. Does anyone know how to do this?

You can do it by converting the Movie Trailer to a Project. However once converted, you cannot go back to the Movie Trailer interface and continue to work using the Movie trailer tools. So what you might want to do is get everything, Everything you can get accomplished using just the Movie trailer tools. Then at the very end, the very last step Convert to Project and stretch out the duration of that title slide.
To Convert to Project go to the File Menu > Convert to Project. iMovie will then move everything into the iMovie Project Browser as clips, background sound tracks, titles, etc.

I know this is probably simple -- how do I change the title of my movie without doing a save as...it's stored on a LaCie external hardrive and I just can't figure it out but I bet it's easy?

Do you mean without making a full copy? You will have to save the project to link it to iDVD.

i am trying to add a title to a movie i am creating. however i want the title to be just black with white writing but when i add a title it applies to the first clip and its not its own separate "scene". Replace sound on .mov files?

Hi all,
I have some .mov-files from a portable video camera. I want to remove the sound and replace it with better mp3 recordings.
I've tried a lot of programs and formats etc.. but I always end up with bad picture quality.
Does anybody have a solution?

As you can see these should play in Quicktime 7.5.5 which you presumably have?
As for the missing audio:
Your audio settings may have been changed.
1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
2. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
