Replacing verizon router with my own

Hello,
I want to replace my current verizon router with my own, the issue I have is I can not logon.  I know I can do a full reset but all the info will be lost. (gateway, verizon password, ect).  Is there any way around this?  I only have fios, no tv.  Incoming connection is a cat 5 cable from fiberoptic converter.  Or will I be stuck calling tech support?
Any help would be appreciated, I have small to fair knowledge with these devices.
Geo1cran

since your hooked up with cat5 your good to go. Now if your DHCP verizon would need to help or if your PPPOE then all you have to do is hook up your router and your good to go.

  • Pages templates how replace given info with my own?

Question: I'm trying to use a business card template. Have replaced the 'holding info' with my own wording in upper left section: now want this info to be repeated in all other sections on page: how to do this?

    Pages 5?
You copy the first corrected business card and paste it in the other cards. You can use Cpoy and Paste, Option  + drag or use Cmd + d to duplicate the first card.

  • Creating a Script to Replace Supplied Swatches with Our Own...

We have a client that provides us art with their own swatches. We in turn have to load the corresponding swatch from our library for that client and merge. Would there be a way to script this?
They are not named the same but usually part of the name is the same. For instance, a supplied swatch is called 'White_S06_001A_white' and we replace it with 'WHITE_we_rgb'... or 'Red_SLD_A1MH_186' is replaced by '186_RED_we_rgb'
Wondering if this might be possible. Thanks.

I think it's possible (although it's beyond my scripting prowess) but
... usually part of the name is the same ...
usually is not going to work. Only if you have one of these:
a list of all usual name differences (and all of them)
or, an exact list of all of your clients' names and yours.
then a script can do it.
For (1), it needs the differences to discard and replace the bad name bits with the good stuff. For example, the "_we_" can be added right after the first underscore, and eh (thinking about your 2nd example ...), well, something like "if there is a number at the end place it at the start and replace the word before the first underscore with capitals and throw everything else away and add "_we_rgb" to the result" -- you get the idea. Is there any rule to this at all?
    For (2), it just requires a simple "a -> b" translation list.
By the way: how do you know it's safe to change the name? Are the RGB values of your and their swatches identical?

  • Replace old router with WRT110 and now I can not see shared printer on network

Replaced a BEFW11S4 with a WRT110. Now I can not see a shared printer on the network any more. I have not changed anything on the computer that has the printer shared. I can see the internet on all the computers, but not the shared printer. can you help?

First which you need to check, is your printer is working Offline on your computer. In this case you need to Re-map your Printer on your Computers back again. First check if you have any Firewall or Antivurs Installed on your computer try to disable it and check if you are able to print from your computer. If not then try to Remap the printer on your computer.
Go to Network connections window and if you are able to see your computer name on which the printer is installed, then right click on the Printer and click on "Connect" or "MAP" once done you will be able to print from your computer.
Note down the IP address of the Computer on which you have Installed the Printer. (Click on Start - Run - CMD and click Ok, now in the command prompt type "ipconfig" and note down the Ip address, Then go to your other computer and Click on Start - Run - CMD and click Ok and now in the Command prompt type "ping (IP address of your main computer) and hit enter and check if you are getting any replies. If yes, then again click on "Start - Run - type ( \\ip address of your main computer) and click Ok, and now you will be able to see your printer name then right click on it and click on "Connect" or Map, once done, now check if you are able to print from your computer.

  • Help! Replaced Verizon router and suddenly my 2 Apple TVs won't accept my Apple ID

I have two Apple TVs that were working just fine, but I replaced my 11 year old Verizon FIOS router today, and I have everything connected and working, except the Apple TV's which refuse to accept my Apple ID as correct.  I have Home Sharing turned on on all my computers, but on the Apple TV configuration screen I cannot get past where it wants the Apple ID put in.  I even went online and CHANGED my password, restarted iTunes, turned off Home Sharing and then back on, restarted computers, router, and have been using the remotes to type in my Apple ID and new password literally dozens of times and it says my password or user ID cannot be found or is incorrect; I know it is not incorrect....Help!  One thing I noticed is the Apple TV in the configuration screen seems to have a strange IP address.....169. something or other instead of 192.168 >>> like everything else.  I even tried changing that manually to what was showing for the Apple ID on my router screen but that didn't work either.  We have not changed any connections on the TV, Apple TVs.....just the router replacement.  Because it's a new router, it has a new network name and password, but I can't get to the point where I can put that in (tried selecting network automatically), because everything I try to do I get stopped by the Apple ID screen.

  • I would like a image swap filter, like adblock but it replaces blocked images with my own choice.

A web site I visit has large and ugly icons I would like to display my own image in their place
Is there an addon for FF25.0.1? or could I set a custom swap filter any other way?
    Thanks for reading.

    Both these addons did
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-art/
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/my-image-here/
    Neither work with FF25.0.1
Both of which are extensions that build on adblocker's filter, I'm still looking.
I am not conversant with scripts etc I was hoping it would be simple like if uglyImage.gif replace with C:/desktop/myimage.gif

  • Can I replace my router (9100EM)?

I have the 9100EM router and would like to replace it with NETGEAR - N750 Dual Band Wireless-N+ Gigabit Route. Is this possible and if not what can I replace it with that will give me better wireless coverage in my house?
    Thanks, Mark

    Thanks, Mark
If you replace the VZ router with your own Netgear router you will lose the stb guide, dvr remote access etc.  If you don't have tv service then sure it's OK.
Otherwise look at these links for other options.
What are the tradeoffs between the various router configurations
Can I use my wireless or an extra router along with the Verizon provided router?
Do I have to use the supplied router with Verizon FiOS?
Personally I just connected my own router from a lan port on the VZ router to the wan port of my router in a different part of the house and run all my in house machines on the gigabit and wireless-n subnet that it provides.

  • Connecting wi fi to a verizon router

how to hook a printer to a verizon router with the lion program

Two different things. Connecting the printer is either with wire, Ethernet cable, or Wireless to the router.
Once the printer is connect to the router then you need to set it up in the computer as a networked Printer.

  • Slingbox, Time Capsule and Verizon router setup

    So here is my setup:
Verizon router with wireless ON.  Time capsule set to share an IP address(not in Bridge mode).  This gives me the double NAT error message.
Sling catcher hooked into the Time capsule on one end and to the Slingbox on the other.
So, I hooked the slingbox up to the verizon router, configured it.  Then hooked the sling catcher to the TM and ran setup again.  Set up port forwarding per the instructions.  Things seem to work fine, although under the slingbox directory it says that I am not set up for internet viewing.
However, i CAN connect via wifi and over 3g on my iphone fine.  With WIFI, I am using my Time capule for wireless not the verizon wifi.  The last time I tried to turn off the verizon wifi i don't think the slingbox worked.  The last time I tried to set up the time capule under bridge mode the slingbox did not work.  If I am in bridge mode there is no option to setup port forwarding.
So I know that my setup is not correct but it is working.  The problem is the speeds.  I have a slingbox pro- getting about 1200-1400 kbs over the internet, and about 500-550 over wifi on the iphone.  I'm getting about 450-550 over 3g on the iphone.  This seems too slow.
    Any suggestions?

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Insure that the setting for Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update and allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart
    Very important......
Power off both the Verizon modem/router and the Time Capsule
    Wait a minute or two
Start up the Verizon modem/router first and allow it to run a full minute
Then start up the Time Capsule

  • How To Use Your Own Router with Out Loosing Verizon's FIOS Services

How to use your own router with Verizon’s FIOS Service
First, you need a basic understanding of how FIOS works but unfortunately there are two types of FIOS systems out there. All of the systems utilize a fiber optic cable to bring TV, phone and internet to your location over one optic cable. In addition these systems provide interactivity including widgets, remote DVR, movies on demand and so forth via an IP (Internet Protocol) signal.  Your STB (Set Tip Box) requires both a video and IP signal. The IP signal is necessary for all of the aforementioned interactivity.  The fiber cable terminates at the Optical Network Terminal or ONT for short.  The ONT converts the optics into a digital signal that can be utilized by ones equipment.  From the ONT your video, phone and internet are provided to the location.  This is where things can differ as the internet signal can be provided via a coaxial (MoCA or Multimedia over Coax Alliance) or RJ45 Cat5 (Ethernet) cable.  It is important to identify and understand the differences of these two setups.  In my case I have my internet entering via Ethernet cable, which in my humble opinion makes things a heck of a lot easier.
How does one tell the difference? In most cases it’s rather simple; just look at the Verizon’s router WAN (Wide Area Network) Port.  Does it have a RJ45 (Ethernet) or Coax (TV cable Cord) going to it? If the router’s WAN port doesn’t have a coaxial connector then one will need to convert the MoCA signal into a usable Ethernet signal that routers understand. The easiest way is to use Verizon’s router as a bridge. In this method the Verizon’s router simply converts the signal and passes it along to your own router. The challenge is to try to maintain the interactivity that FIOS TV provides. Because of this one needs to supply the IP routed signal back to the FIOS router.  There are multiple methods for doing this and I would recommend investigates which one make the most sense.
In my particular case the IP signal was provided by Ethernet.  Again there are various ways of installing one’s own router. The hardest is to utilize Verizon’s router as a bridge.  This setup requires configuring Verizon’s router as a bridge and also creating a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Networks). In addition one needs to set up their own router so it will work with the various routing tables and networks. For me this is too complex for the average person and it can be difficult to trouble shoot if something goes wrong. Please consider that Verizon will not support utilizing third party routers.
The easier method is to request an Ethernet signal (if you don’t already have one) from their ONT.  I would highly recommend getting your hands on a NIM or Network Interface Module. This device is used to convert Ethernet to Coaxial so it can be fed back to your STBs.  These can be purchased online and Verizon technicians can be a valuable resource with these sorts of acquisition.  At the very least they can point you to the right direction.  Once you have a NIM the rest is rather simple.
Log into the current Verizon Router.
Located the router’s MAC address and copy it down.
Go to the port forwarding section and copy down the Applied Rules.
    Example:
    Network Computer/Device: 192.168.1.100:63145
Application & Ports Forward:  Application UDP Any -> 6347
Note: There may be up to three entries for each one of your Set Top Boxes.
Look at your current device list, typically found on the home screen. Copy down your STB MAC and IP address.
    Example:
    IP-STB1
    Connection Type: Ethernet
    * IP Address: 192.168.1.100
    IP Address Allocation: DHCP
    *MAC Address:                07:73:fFe:ad:8b:3f
    * Things you will need to write down
Go to the network section and look for the main Ethernet connection.  Select this and then select more setting, typically found at the bottom. Release the current lease.
    Remove the Verizon router
    Install your router
Connect the NIM by plugging in an Ethernet from one of the routers LAN (Local Area Network) ports to your NIM. Then connect the coax cable, the same cable that was used by Verizon router.
Set you DHCP routing IP pool to accommodate Verizon’s STB IP’s  (note their IP’s start at 192.168.1.100)
Go to DHCP section and reserve the STB IP’s by inserting the IP’s and MAC addresses. This shall ensure that nothing else utilizes the same IPs as the STBs thereby preventing IP address conflict.
Add the port forwards from Step 5 above.
Clone Verizon’s Mac Address utilizing the info from step 2
Finish setting up the router in typical fashion.
Unplug and re-plugin your STB’s and test functionality.  It’s best to try using a widget or Movie on demand function.
Note: if the new router can net get an internet signal contact Verizon’s support and have them release the IP and reset the ONT.
EVERYTHING should be working at this point.

3 Go to the port forwarding section and copy down the Applied Rules.
    Example:
    Network Computer/Device: 192.168.1.100:63145
Application & Ports Forward:  Application UDP Any -> 6347
Note: There may be up to three entries for each one of your Set Top Boxes.G
Your display obviously is not like mine as mine does not dosplay the port associated with the ip address
whatever, the STB's start at 192.168.1.100 and icement by 1 for each
the port addr's will be 63145 alo incrementing by 1
there is 1 entry for each in my pf list
however each ip addr also has a port entry starting at 35000 also incrementing by 1 for each ip addr
For some unknow reason these are duplicated e.g I appear to have 11 entries exaactly the same for each stb and as the fios services rules have no action switc there is nowhere to delete the extraneous garbage.
Why do you clone the mac addr??

  • Why is the wifi reception on my iPhone 5 so poor. I'm not talking about in my own home with my own router. I'm talking about AT

Why is the wifi reception on my iPhone 5 so poor. I'm not talking about in my own home with my own router. I'm talking about AT&T hotspots, public hotspots, etc. I can hold my 3GS and my 5 side by side, the 3GS picks up more signals with more strength. The 5 seems to have a weaker wireless network than its predecessors. It's very frustrating because I can be 20 feet from a wireless router, and still only show 2 bars, if I don't end up losing the connection. What gives??

I've done the resets...no real help at all.  Im Also on my 2nd iPhone 5. The first was replaced because of a faulty external speaker module. Both phones wifi reception pretty much suck. ESPECIALLY if the case is on. I'll luck out a little bit by taking the case off...but not much.

  • How do I replace someone else's Mac ID with my own? Bought iPhone second hand. Previous owner re-set the phone but his ICloud account stayed on now my phone. He uses his macID on his new iPhone now?? Any ideas, as this issue is blocking my access to iTune

How do I replace someone else's Mac ID with my own?
Bought iPhone second hand on TradeMe.
Previous owner re-set the phone but his ICloud account stayed on now my phone. He uses his AppleID on his new iPhone now and, understandably, does not want to give me his password. Any ideas?? Please.
This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.
    Would appreciate any suggestion ????
    Thanks
    SamSings

    Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

  • How can i use a second router to replace verizon fios router?

Okay so just as the title says how do i use a second router? I got a cisco valet router... I don't know how to use it because the verizon router/modem is wierd i know how to use a router if i only had a modem but fios gives router/modem so how can i use my 2nd router? The current verizon fios router/modem is b/g mode and i wanna change to b/g/n so i can get a better speed from my internet... SO how can i use my 2nd router? I tried this http://www.dslreports.com/faq/verizonfios/3.0_Networking#12506 but i don't get it can someone guide me better or make a video explaination on how to use a 2nd router? I have it connected with see as in pic i connect from my router Internet port to wan port and the ethernet lan port to the ethernet lan port on verizon fios and no work please help...

OK, so with this, we have a few options. You appear to have a MoCa connection to the ONT, hence the coaxial cable being present.
1: The ActionTec can be bridged to the Valet router. This will not require any additional cabling, however it will require a small amount of work to have working. You will also require the ActionTec still in the mix, even though it will not be acting as a router anymore with this configuration.
Visit http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16077 and look at Option 4. There is a thread linked that will allow you to set up the ActionTec as just a MoCa bridge, and will pass the Public IP to your router. You will, in order for this to work once the ActionTec is bridged, need to connect the cable from your Valet router's Internet port, to the ActionTec's LAN port and nothing else goes to the ActionTec. From this point, your Valet should run as your primary and everything should connect through your Valet. If you are adding another router, a Netgear N300, you should perform the LAN to LAN setup, which we will talk about once you've got the Valet working correctly. LAN to LAN configs require a custom setup, so do not set up the Netgear for now.
2: This is my preferred method, which would be to run an Ethernet cable to the ONT. Option 6 in the FAQ. This will require spaking to Verizon to have them move your ONT to Ethernet, but once they do this, you can disconnect the Coaxial Cable from your ActionTec router, and plug in your CAT5/CAT6 cable from the ONT to the ActionTec's Internet/WAN port. Use the ActionTec to ensure everything is working after the switchover, and once off the phone, log into the ActionTec, perform a DHCP Release, and then prompty power off the ActionTec. Once this is done, plug the CAT6 cable into your Valet router's Internet port. You should from this point, be able to connect to the Cisco, and if the DHCP Lease was broken successfully, the Cisco should begin serving up your Internet connection. If it does not, leave the Cisco powered off for a few hours to break the DHCP lease, and then power it up. If the Valet does not work, still, give the Valet a factory reset and set up this router again, with the Ethernet cable from the ONT connected to it.
I would just take a good luck at the FAQ linked above again, and see what would work the best. Easiest thing to do is to get the ONT moved to Ethernet, which allows you to eliminate the ActionTec unless you need it in the future for TV service, and also allows you to use any router with ease.
Once the Valet is up and running and holds your Public IP address from Verizon (use http://whatismyip.com/ to determine this) , and also serves up IPs to devices on your network, post back and we can help you set up the Netgear. If you have any issues while setting this up, fall back to the ActionTec. It's factory reset will work without configuration needed, regardless of you being on Coax or Ethernet.
