Replacment for Photoshop CS!

My Photoshop CS is no-longer supported. Adobe gave me a free download of Photoshop CS2. I have neede to re-install Windows 7 and I would like a replacement download  of Photoshop CS2 at no cost. How do I get it?

Hi Noel,
The first Photoshop I used was CS. No problems with that at all. When I needed a reload using CDs provided by Photoshop it wouldn't register the system because they had stopped supporting it. I complained to them and they provided a free download of Photshop CS2. That worked well until I needed to reinstall it because I had reloaded Windows 7. I have not found a way to obtain a free copy of CS2 because there is no-one to talk to a Photoshop. I can't find a telephone number!
Best wishes and thanks for your interest.

  • What is the best replacement for Photoshop from the App Store?

One of the things I miss is my ability to use Photoshop with earlier OS versions.  I do keep a MacBook Pro to the side of my desktop iMac so I can still use Photoshop.
My questions is....can anyone suggest a suitable replacement for Photoshop that I can use with the latest versions of OS?  I have already tried Pixelator but it does not have some of the features that I really beed (like drop shadow).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Viable Replacement for Photoshop Elements

I have really given up on Photoshop Elements 8. It lacks proper integration with Photoshop CS3 which is a major showstopper for me.
I have 5 years and 1000's of photos invested: tagged, version sets, stacks, albums, collections,....
My alternative is to go back to PSE 6.0 which is where I migrated from but not my optimal choice.
Any album organizer software on the market that can provide a smooth transition from Photoshop Elements. Mainly concerned about tags and version sets to be carried over.
    Thank You.

The only thing that can read your PSE 6 catalog as is would be lightroom (it can't read your PSE 8 catalog). Otherwise, you can write tags to files, as long as they aren't raw files, but there is no other program that can import a PSE catalog.
I don't know if even lightroom can understand your version sets as version sets, though.

  • Simple replacement for Photoshop Elements 4.0?

I'm a fine artist, oil painter and only need the most basic program to make minor adjustments to images. Brightness, contrast, rotate left to right, color adjust light and dark...all the basic stuff I use often but don't need all the bells and whistles on PS11. Isn't there something simple from the dark ages that WIN 7 can use?

Take a look at Nikon View:
    http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Imaging-Software/NVNX2/ViewNX-2.html
It's a free program and very easy to use.  For RAW files, it only reads Nikon NEF format, but it will read JPG files from any camera.

  • Year-old MacBook adequate for PhotoShop?

My friend is a bit of a computer klutz and has a MacBook bought over a year ago. He was ready to buy an expensive Mac Pro desktop machine today for Photoshop work but I told him his MacBook would probably be powerful enough, and if not, an iMac would be good. BTW his MacBook is the higher-end black version with 1 GB ram, 120 GB HD, and a single processor chip (2 Ghz?) - the faster Core 2 Duo version came out about a month after he bought.
He has a couple of nice Canon digital SLR cameras and shoots lots of images on vacations and wants to do minor PhotoShop touchups from RAW files and print them. He also has Aperture, a 22" Samsung widescreen LCD monitor, a 1 TB USB/Firewire external hard drive, an expensive new large-format Epson printer, and a USB stylus pad.
So what version of Photoshop would be good, and is this MacBook capable? Or would iPhoto be sufficient for this? I think all he might need is a USB hub to increase USB port capacity for the extra devices, but actually the 2 ports on the MacBook might be enough. We have tested the Samsung monitor (226BW) and it works fine with the MacBook on the DVI cable. I think he would be able to use the external HD for archival storage of his images, and take the MacBook with him on vacations for dumping the RAW images from the camera.
Also, what is a good book or online site to get him up to speed on Mac? He knows how to do a few basic Mac things. This is unfortunately a common problem I think - lots of people who were into film photography are having a hard time making the transition to digital cameras, computers, and software.
I don't have a Mac (will get one soon), so I can't properly advise him yet.

The "Core Duo" model MacBook still has two processors inside, that's the "duo" part of the name. If it only had one, it would be a "Core Solo". (There were never any "Core Solo" MacBooks, but there were some Mac minis.) The "2" in the "Core 2 Duo" just means it's the second version of the "Core Duo" processor.

iPhoto is NOT an image editing application. Although it does have a very limited set of adjustments you can make, it's not a replacement for PhotoShop. In fact, if your friend does have Aperture, he doesn't need iPhoto. Aperture is the "pro" replacement for iPhoto.
I would strongly suggest upgrading to 2GB of RAM and using PhotoShop CS3. It should run fine, that's what I have on mine. I use it, mostly, to touch-up pictures from my iPhoto, so I'm no PhotoShop power user. But, I do open it almost every day.

  • What is upgrade for Photoshop Element 2.0 to work with Windows 7 ?

What is upgrade or replacement for Photoshop Element 2.0 to work with Windows 7 OS?

Hi there, because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop Elements forum, where you'll get more specialized help.

  • Replacement for Adobe Photoshop 3.0 Home Edition

I hope I am in the right forum but I have a very OLD 1996 Edition for photoshop that does now work well with XP. I tried to replace it many years ago with elements 2.0 but found the learning curve was well beyond my capabilities. I have heard that the newer elements are easier to use. I am looking for a program to do repair of old photo's that I scan and good re sizing of ones I have and maybe even some fun stuff like putting picts in frames or added things from one pict to another etc. I am pretty good at the computer but found all the "layering' much to advanced for me. Can anyone reccomend a replacement for this great original old photoshop?

    >If I have the version 2 on my PC can I still download and install the trial
    >version of 5?
    Yes.
    >Will they show up as two separate programs/
Yes. Just let the installer do its thing and place the program in the
default location. Don't try to install the trial in the same folder as your
    version 2.
    >If I decide to get version 5 I assume I will be able to uninstall the trial
    >version before installing the full version with a purchased disc...
Yes. And, you will need to uninstall the trial version before installing
the purchased disc. However, since you also have version 2 on your
computer, when the uninstaller asks whether you want to uninstall shared
resources or programs, you want to keep them. If you remove the shared
items, you will have removed some of the things needed by version 2 and you
will need to reinstall your version 2 software to get them back.
Just a word in regards to layers. Don't let the complexity get to you.
Working with layers can be confusing at first, but once you understand how
they work, you will find they are actually easy to use. Start with the
basic things and then gradually move into the more advanced things as your
familiarity grows. I'm positive this is not beyond your capabilities.

I am looking for a free downloaod for photoshop cs2.  can anyone help me?  I had downloaded it previously and then I had my computer cleaned up and it was taken off.  Now, when I go to open it, it wants the license number.  Where can I find that as I know that I had downloaded it before.  The one website that has it for free must have a virus in it and my AVG will not allow it to download.  I am lost and need it really fast!  Please help me!

If you were a legitimate CS2 licensee, you'll find the link to the CS2 replacement download and new s/n in the above thread, despite its subject title.
This may explain it to you in a more convincing way:

Thanks for your reply. I was able to find help through a tech support chat session and the person helped me edit my /etc/hosts file and it solved the problem.
For anyone else experiencing this issue (Mac OS X):
Close all other programs and sign out from the Adobe Desktop App
From the Finder, Go > Go to Folder...
    Type /etc and hit enter
Find "hosts" file (only "hosts", there were similar files such as hosts.config but only open the one that says "hosts"
Open the file, and replace the entire content with ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface#
Close the file, sign back into the Adobe Desktop App
    Problem solved!

  • I have the serial number for Photoshop Elements 5 and need a way to download software.

My laptop was replaced at work with a new laptop.  I have the serial number but do not have the windows downloaders for Photoshop Elements 5.  I see where you can get the downloader for 7.  Can I still get it for 5 somewhere?

As far as I know, 7 is the furthest back that is available.

Is there a decent replacement for Mack The Ripper that works with Mavericks?

But this is not a plugin, it's basically Adobe's Photoshop lite - a standalone program.
The beauty of Intellihance was that is combined a few good native Photoshop adjustments into one menu which meant that you could perform a series of various adjustments and preview them all at once.
Don't want to leave PS to do this if I don't have to.

  • Best Mouse for Photoshop

    Hello,
New to this forum.  I appologize if Im not in the correct area, please point me.  Wondering if anyone knew which mouse is best for Photoshop. ie: using magnetic lasso, fine touch up/restoration work etc ?
I have a tablet but my hand shake to much to use it anymore.  So I need a replacement for it.  I used to use a trackball on my pc some time ago but now I use a Macbook pro laptop.
I appreciate any suggestions on mice and I thank you now in advance for your expertise.

    Hi.
I second Mylenium's emotion. I've been using Logitech programmable mice for 10 years. Currently I'm using the MX Revolution (wireless). Still working after 5 years of heavy use. My previous Logitech mouse was still working fine after 6 years, but didn't like Vista when I got a new computer.
I have big hands, and the MX is a good fit. Righties only, sadly. It's big, heavy, and stable. It has a built in rechargeable battery, which I was leery of at first. But the battery last a long, long time, and it has never been an issue. It recharges in a cradle, and fast, which is good.
It's programmable, the most important feature to me. It has more programmable toggles and buttons than I use, but the ones I do use are golden. In addition to the normal mouse functions in their normal places, I have Shft, Ctrl, & Enter under my index finger. My thumb accesses Alt, Ctrl+Alt, & Ctrl+Alt+Shft under my thumb. The result being my right hand never leaves the mouse, and my left hand works the keyboard. It's fast and efficient, even when I don't know where I'm going. If that sounds too geeky, just program couple of buttons. The new MX is still $100 and is supposed to work with Mac OS® X 10.4 or later.
I know some folks like to keep it simple. Even if you don't program it, it's still a big, heavy, comfortable mouse with great performance.
A critical element in my mousing nirvana is the gel filled wrist pad. It reduces fatigue and the chance of carpel tunnel and such. And just as important, it stabilizes my wrist so my hand movements are more sure. The speed of the mouse is a factor too. My mouse is set to "Fast", with moderate "Acceleration". This way I can reach the whole screen without moving my wrist or lifting the mouse. Saves time and fatigue. And of course a good chair set at the right height and the desk at the right height help.
    FWIW.
    Peace,
    Lee

  • Computer specs for Photoshop - help!

My wife needs to upgrade her computer. We plan to go to a 64 bit machine running Windows 7. She currently uses Photoshop CS2  and Illustrator and plans to continue with them for the moment but will upgrade the software eventually to either CS4 or 5. We're looking at a machine that features an ASUS P5QPL-VM motherboard with onboard video, 2 GB of PC2-6400 (DDR2 800 MHz) RAM and an Intel Core2Duo E8400 processor (3.0 GHz). We plan to increase the RAM. Questions: Do we need a separate video or graphics card? If so, what specs? What do you recommend as far as a motherboard? Thanks in advance - this spec stuff is a bit confusing to us.

I will wait for the Intel fanboys to chirp in (just kidding). But yes I would go with a seperate video card (Ialways have in my builds). There are a lot more driver updates for seperate cards then onboard. Plus if the onboard ever goes south you have to replace the whole motherboard instead of just a card. I use AMD/ATI stuff. There are several people on here that do use Intel/Nvidia that will give you some insight on their builds.
Get windows 7 professional 64 bit. A little more expensive but has more features that can be used on a daily basis. For photoshop 4 gigs of RAM is ok but 8 gigs is better. Photoshop loves RAM.
I would look at 2 internal hard drives. The second internal hard drive for Photoshop Scratch Disk and storage. 7200 RPM. There are some newer and faster 1 and 2 TB hard drives out now that beat the 10,000 RPM Velocity Raptor and a whole lot cheaper per gig.

  • Best PC to buy for Photoshop CS5, Premiere Elements and Proshow Producer

I am looking for a new PC to replace my 10 year old one.
This would be used primarily for Photoshop CS5, Lightroom, Premiere Elements and Proshow Producer.
I am thinking of going to Digital Storm to get one of their top line gaming machines with Sandybridge cpu, high end video card and at least 16 to 32 gb Ram
(although I do not play games on the pc}.
Is this overkill, or would a different kind of PC be better?
    what do you recommend?

I'm definitely going to look into it. Thanks. Have a great holiday.

Dell Precisions are great machines, you could look into their Studio or Studio XPS too. Not quite workstation qualtiy but I'm beating the snot outta one @home and it's holding up well for a 600 buck eBay chassis...

  • Replacement download PhotoShop Elements 12?

I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean in order to get rid of a virus infestation.  Naturally, I lost my copy of Elements 12.  I have all the registration information.  How do I get a replacement download?

You should be able to find a download link for PSE12 in your Adobe account online.
If not, go to the home page of the Adobe site and select the Search option at the top right.  In the serach field type "Elements" and in the results that appear choose the Try Now option for Photoshop Elements.  That should bring you to a page where you can download the trial version.  You can use your serial number to activate it to full use.
