Hello all:
I have an idea for those who are looking to add album art:
I have yet to see if it works with the Vision:M (mine will be here next week), but I used mediamonkey to add album art to my mp3 catalog (,200+ songs). Its easy to do and you can add art to an entire album of songs at one time. It uses Amazon's database for album art. As long as you have things properly tagged its completely automated (It took me ~.5 hours to ad album art to my entire collection). It will also ask you if you want the picture to be embedded in the id3 tag (which as far as I know you do for the Vision:M). Finally, mediamonkey is a great Mp3 management tool. Its free and you can get it at www.mediamonkey.com.

  • Divx 6.1 support for Zen Vision

    Greetings all
I bought a Vision M and I am very happy with it, however there is something I'd like to confirm; does the Vision M support Divx 6. I am in the process of enconding my entire anime DVD collection using Divx 6. and I would like to be able to transfer it to the Vision M when I am done, if version 6. is not currently supported will Creative release a firmware patch to make it compatible in the future?
    thanks!

before you draw conclusions, why don't you do some small tests with 20 second videos?
I don't have a ZVM, but I figure that if you use only basic functions of DIVX6., then it will work just as well as divx5.
Of course, if you use the features (file format, subtitles, menus) that were added specifically to divx 6. , that's another story... But I would think there's a good chance you don't (generally speaking).

  • Zen Vision: M and .AVI Fi

So, the official site says it cannot support it but it is odd that the Zen Vision can support it whereas the Zen Vision:M can't. So I would like to know if DivX .AVI files are supported by Zen Vision: M and if I am going to use my Zen for a mix of Music but also for video what yould you reccomend, Zen Vision or the Zen Vision: M.
    Thank You,
    The Demanding Consumer

    Vision or Vision:M
Yes, the vision:M plays DivX files:
Supported video formats: MPEG/2/4-SP, WMV9, Motion-JPEG, compatible DivX 4,5 and XviD
The Vision is designed primarily with video in mind, with its 3.7" screen. If you plan on watching videos (30 minutes+), then I suggest the Vision. The 2.5" screen on the Vision:M is good for watching short clips but, even with my eyes, it is hard to watch it for long amounts of time. Granted, the Vision is a bigger player with a bigger price tag, but has features the Vision:M doesnt. For good reviews of both, check www.cnet.com. Both are great players, and youll be fine with either.

  • Exporting song lists to Excel, etc. with Zen Vision:M 3

    Hello-
Is there any way to export my songs from the Zen to Excel (or any other similar program)? I have researched previous requests, and all pointed to the previous version of Creative Media Explorer, along with a 3rd party program called Notmad. Unfortunately, Notmad will not work, as it does not support the Zen Vision (though it does support the non-vision Zen series). Please note I did download it and attempted to use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Steve C

Never mind, I found a very easy method:
    1. Download Media Monkey, FREE at www.mediamonkey.com
    2. Media Monkey will find the Zen. Select the Zen so the songs appear.
    3. Go to File:Reports, and choose export as Excel.
    4. Choose the location, and there you go!!!

  • Serious Issues with Creative Zen Vision M 3

This all started when I was fast forwarding through a track and it freezes. So, I did reset and it's in recovery mode, whereas usually it will just restart again. So I tried turining it on and off and was still stuck in Recovery Mode. Tried plugging it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. I did everything the website told me to, but my computer will not recognize that it is plugged into the usb. When I have it docked it will not let me do anything at all. I tried to clean it up and it stays in "scan disk" for hours,I tried to format it, knowing it would erase everything but hoping it would fix, and when I tried to format it, I got a message saying "harddisk problem", when I rebbot it simply reboots back to Recovery Mode and the other option I have is reload firmware, and it prompts me to start updating firmware, but my computer won't even recognize that it is plugged in , in the first place, so I am at a loss with what to do next. The best help Creative can give me is email support. As most of you probably have found out there is no technical support phone number, only for returns/exchanges. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference, which it probably does since nothing seems to work on Winows Vista, and when I look at My computer, it shows that the device is present, but yet I can't access it through any media source or when trying to install this firmware? garbage. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sarah

  • Problems with the Zen Vision:M 6

I'm experiencing a lot hangs and lockups with my Zen Vision:M 60GB,
the newest firmware that is viable for the Zen Vision:M 60GB already
on my Zen Vision:M 60GB, firmware version .2.02e, sometimes the
clean up in the service mode works fine, had also a situation
that everything went so bad that it lockedup when I turned my Zen on,
had then to refresh the firmware and lost all my music on its hard dri've,
costed me hours to get everything back on it.
Please, Creative do something about these lockups bring new firmware out
    that solves these problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please start supporting the Zen Vision:M 60GB again.

I use Widows XP Professional SP3 and Windows XP Professional x64 SP2 with medially .
I can't see why this matters because the problems are located at the player itself, I've got no
problems with moving files to the player or any problems with connecting the player with the computer,
I'm experiencing a lot of freezups of the firmware of the player, harddisk keeps running, it does that
till the battery is low or till I push reset, sometimes this doesn't help at all, the operating system at
the harddri've gets somehow damaged by the instability of the filesystem, reflashing the firmware helps
the. Problems appear to be a software problem with the firmware, the player went away for repairs once,
with this problem, they have checked the harddisk, harddisk was fine but the os crapped up it's self
somehow, know this because I asked them to tell me every thing what was wrong and how they solved this,
asked them also how I could fix the player myself? if it was no hardware problem.
They told me to reflash the firmware and format the dri've from the service mode out.

  • Zen Vision M DOESNT support MP4 (Mpe

I recently purchased a Vision M, and when I started to put MP4 files on it, it would come up with the message saying The MP4 filetype is not supported on your player. Now I've tried MP4 movies that I've downloaded, and converted myself, nothing will work. Anyone know what the problem is?

.MP4 is actually MPEG-4 Part 4, which is basically the illegitimate child of Apple Quicktime (hence its use in itunes)
The mpeg4 formats supported by the Vision (and M I'd say) are Xvid (best) Divx (Pretty much as good, but commercial).
What you want to do is convert your movies to Xvid (or get them in Xvid in the first place, as most movies are. MP4 smells bad)
You'd do that by getting Xvid (probably Koepi's binary) and then probably VirtualDub to convert to it. This isn't the place for a full instruction set, so just do a little research and find a tutorial for converting to Xvid.

  • Creative Zen Vision M - does it support mac os

Am thinking of getting one, but I need to know if it supports mac os first as my primary computer is a mac.Can anyone help me out with this query? Many thanks.

No, sorry, It doesnt have support for it. But there is a link that may make it work:
"Can a Creative player work on an Apple Mac?
It isn't officially supported, but some kind folks out there have written freeware applications to get your Creative player working with Macs. XNJB provides support for the Zen players, and requires OS X 0.3 or 0.4 (check the site for full details). MuVoHelper solves some problems with getting the MuVo to work optimally. The iTunes Zen plugin should support all Zen players. Note if the link to the plugin is broken just Google "iTunes Zen plugin" to find other sources. Also note there's no guarantee that these programs will work with the Mac, so if you have issues you should address your problems to the developer(s) of the relevant program."

  • Creative Zen Vision M Media Explorer does not work on Vi

I plugged in my device, all I can see was the name of the device under Portable Devices.
When I access Media Explorer, it said my device is not connect but in fact it actually is.

You should be able to use WMP 2 to sync your files to the player . As long as the files have album art it will transfer. You can not add the album art to files that are already one the player .You would have to delete & then sync the files that have the art. Also You may be able to use the Zen Vision M Explorer for Vista on the Win7 just install using compatibilty mode for Vista (if Win7 has that as an option) there was one written for 64 bit systems as well as 32 bit. You can tell which is which by the file name. 64 is in the file name for a 64bit system/ 32 in the 32 bit system file name.http://support.creative.com/Products...VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_433,VARSET=CategoryID:23 Click on View all Downloads

  • An extensive look at the Zen Vision:M for those considring buying one (plus my firmware wishli

<SPAN> Well first, I want to say that this is the 0th mp3 player that I have owned. This is definitely the best and most powerful player I have ever owned. With that said, its not perfect either, hence the purpose of this review. As I did on this board with the Zen Micro, I write this review in hopes that Creative will listen. Hopefully, creative will read this and take it to heart.
    SOUND QUALITY:
<SPAN> This is what any music device should be about right? Nothing else matters if the sound quality stinks. I used to own Creative?s Zen Micro. The sound on it was great but the bass was lacking. The best sounding mp3 player I?ve ever owned was Iri'ver?s old H20. With its customizable SRS settings, it still stands out against all others I have encountered. If that Iri'ver was the best, I am happy to say that this little device is a very close second. Creative included a bass boost function, and paired with the customizable EQ settings, the sound is amazing. It knocks the micro out of the ballpark.
    MENU NAVIGATION:
<SPAN> The menu on this thing is very familiar to that of other Zen players, including the micro. That?s not a bad thing since the navigation system is the most popular among most mp3 players of this class. I used to own Phillip?s HDD 6330, and that player and the 5th generation iPod have something that the Vision:m lacks. I have all of my music specifically organized by genre. I would like to go into the genre folder, and select a song by title, not by artist, then title. On the 5G iPod, and the HDD6330, the first menu option when going into the genre folder in ?All Titles?. So, all you had to do was select genre / all titles and you had every song in your library from that genre. This player lacks that ability.
<SPAN> I will give praise to Creative for its side alphabetical bar. This has made scrolling my library very much easier. This is a very innovati've feature to use. I also give them props for making the main menu customizable. If Creative will add that one thing, its menu system would be unmatched and close to perfection!!!
    FEATURES:
<SPAN> Creative has built a host of features in this thing as they do with a lot of their players. The FM radio is good and the voice recorder is good. Now lets get to the good stuff. The Vision:m actually lets you choose your own background. Not only that, but for the picture you do decide to use, its lets you edit its brightness and color tone. This feature definitely comes in handy. I selected a nice picture of me and my son at the town fair, and it was way to bright. The letters on the screen were hard to read no matter what theme I used. Upon selecting a picture to use as background, the player gives you the option to raise or lower its brightness and color tone. I lowered the brightness and changed the tone and now, the background looks great. Creative should have gone that extra mile and gave the player the ability randomly select a new background every day.
<SPAN> Also, I am liking the content password feature that gives you the ability to hide video and picture folders. Basically, if I wanted to, I can create a folder on my Vision:m, put some porn in it (come on, that?s what this is really about), and on the player, set it the folder to ?protected?. On the players System settings, set the option to hide all protected folders to ?hide? and you are all set. To unhide the folders, go back into System Settings and select it. Upon selecting it, you will be prompted for the password. I also like the fact the Creative include a calendar and organizer into the player. It?s nice however unnecessary it may be.
    USER INTERFACE:
<SPAN> I have got to give creative its pro
    ps.
Those who criticize Creative for copying iPod really have no idea what Creative has done! Its ergonomic design is the best I have seen since the iPod!!! It is designed for one handed thumb use. One of the problems with the micro and other players like it is the fact that its touch pad was too sensiti've and by simply holding the player, it was a good chance you would accidentally access a function, when the hold switch wasn?t on. The only thing that?s touch sensiti've here is the scroll pad. Creative brilliantly included two side buttons along the thumb pad, which you can easily press with your thumb. This is not copy-catting. This is innovation! Add to that, the other outside buttons that surround the thumb pad are NOT touch sensiti've. They are clickable buttons. The chances of accidental button pressing are greatly minimized. My only problem with the setup is that Creative foolishly assigned the scroll pad buttons to song skip access. That?s fine and dandy when you are in the ?Now playing screen?, but when navigating the menu, it'ss a slight discomfort. The side buttons would be extremely useful when navigating the menu system. Especially with one handed use.
    VIDEO and PICTURES
<SPAN> Well, the one feature that sets this player apart is its ability to play video right? Well, when I first got my player and through my content on it, I threw some videos (less porn) that were on my computer on the player. They played flawlessly with no video conversion necessary. They included a downloaded episode of ?BattleStar Galactica?, ?Boston Legal?, and ?Prison Break?. They all played beautifully. I don?t know if the player?s CPU can handle it, but I would love the ability to fast forward or scan through long video files a lot faster. Selecting ?Seek To? from the menu helps a lot, but its not fast enough. Also, I would like for Creative to add quicktime or .mov<SPAN> support if its possible (legally). My digital camera and cell phone records video clips in .mov format. I also have lots of trailers on my computer in quicktime format. It would be nice if I can simply drop some of the clips on the player without converting them first.
<SPAN> The Pictures show great on this player. You can't scroll through them as quickly and as crisp as with the iPod but there is a reason for that. The ipod scales down and convert photos so they can be shown on the screen. The Creative doesn?t do that. Simply drop the picture on the device and it will be displayed. The benefit to this method is that the player allows you to zoom in on the photos which is a very nice feature and an adequate trade
In. It makes transferring pictures faster also.<SPAN> Add to that, you can switch the folder view and thumbnail picture view to vertical scroll. Speaking of which, where is the USB OTG? This would be a big plus if you had it.
<SPAN> The AV out works great also. I don?t have a/v cables that connect to the player on hand but I did have red and black audio cables that would connect. I stuck the jack in about half way and connected the red on to the video in port on the TV and it worked. I still highly recommend purchasing the a/V cables for it.
    PLAYER DESIGN:
<SPAN> What can I say. So, it looks like the iPod. But should we really fault Creative for that? iRi'ver?s H300 was the first mp3 player to have support for photo?s. When the iPod photo debuted, you could very well have accused Apple of ?copying? iRi'ver. The only way this player copies the iPod is the fact the screen is the same size and dimension. Oh, and the controls are on the bottom. Kind of like the same way Apple ?copied? iRi'ver. I emphasize the word copy because both of theses players were in development at the same time. Creative released their player a short time after Apple. There is no way Creative could have thrown a player this functional and feature heavy together so quickly. The fact that the players look similar is mere coincidence. Other than that, like the 5G ipod, it'ss a beauty. The fact that the buttons glow gives it an extra coolness. I give creative props for its new interface which rocks and what I like to call? The Thumb Click?<SPAN> Oh, and Creative, the next time you release a player, you can keep the so called ?sync adapter?. I don?t like it one bit. Find a way to build the outlets into the player without compromising is size!!! Its just one more thing I have to keep up with.
    SOFTWARE / COMPUTER INTERFACE:
The last time I dealt with Creative?s software is when I had the Micro. It was clunky but functional. I like what they have done this time around. Still the familiar software but more organized. My only problem is when syncing. I edited an id3 tag on my computer and synced the library again. The software failed to sync the song, listing it as an error. The only way to correct this was to delete the song from the player and re-sync it.
    ZEN CAST ORGANIZER NOTE:
<SPAN> Creative, I say this with the best intentions not to be taken the wrong way. You guys need to scrap the current beta software and go back to the drawing board. Do you guys even realize the potential you have with ZCO? First off, when using the sync organizer, it works, but it can't handle video. It is ridiculously slow when handling video. The syncing software in explorer works a lot better. And then ZCO doesn?t show all of the podcasts available on ZenCast. It brings up internet explorer. What you guys need to do, is go back to the drawing board and design software that expertly organizes my entire media library with extreme simplicity. Have a section for music, pictures, video, and zen/pod casts. The Music section can have the option of connecting to an online music store, the video section can have the option of connecting to an online video store, and the ZenCast, to to the Zencast website, where you can easily subscribe to any zencast<SPAN> without bringing up the browser.
<SPAN> Lets say you guys strike a deal with?.say?..NBC. and NBC makes its episodes of ?Book of Daniel? available on the Zen video store. I should be able to purchase a season pass, and every time I sync my player, it will automatically download and/or sync the latest episode.<SPAN> The possibilities are endless!!!
    BUGS:
I have only noticed two bugs with this player. It seems that the Vision:m has an obsessi've compulsi've need to display album art for every song played. Even songs with no album art associated with them. Since my library is organized by genre and not by album, the player simply picks another album art from the folder ad displays that art for a song with no album art. Creative please fix this because its annoying. Also, one almost unnoticeable bug. The ?song time? count at the bottom of the progress indicator in the ?Now Playing? screen seems to have a hard time counting seconds in some songs. Its too slow and eventually catches up. Then counts regularly, and speeds p again. At first I thought the problem was with VBR mp3?s but it does it with regular 28 kbit rates.
Overall Creative has built a very good player and is currently the best out there. I was a fan of the micro and am now A HUGE fan of this one. This player has yet to crash since I have had it, considering that the micro crashed 3 times by this point of my having one. In fact, this looks to be the most stable player I?ve owned as well. I want to personally thank the Creative development for making a player so superior to anything else out there and at such a competiti've price. I will stomp for your company and brand every chance I get. But You have to meet me half way. Outside the Geek world, your brand is barely recognized. You need to set up a huge base of operations in the US and heavily promote your brand. Not just in magazines and one or two city billboards, but on constant TV commercials, get some music artists on TV promoting your player. Come on guys, really show Apple that you are serious about taking them on. I realize that this costs money to do, but you have to spend money to make money right?
Below is my Firmware Wish List I prioritized them starting with the most important thing. Please try to get to some of these issues.
    <SPAN>-<SPAN> fix album art bug
<SPAN>-<SPAN> make a main menu option for Zen cast. This shouldn?t be in the video folder.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> Add the ability to browse by title in the Genre folder.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> Add support for .mov format to video please.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> USB On the Go would be a nice addition as well
<SPAN>-<SPAN> Add the ability to randomly select a new background from a pre selected group of photos every time the player is turned on or each day.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> SRS if possible.<SPAN> It sounds wonderful on other players.<SPAN>
<SPAN>-<SPAN> Make side scroll pad buttons to be used for navigating menu system.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> A small game or two wouldn?t hurt, but add more coolness to it.
    Thank you for listening

wow, very nice review Makes me want to get a vision for myself.

Add the ability to randomly select a new background from a pre selected group of photos every time the player is turned on or each day.
I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! (i might have to go out and buy one then :P)
I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
    Once again, great review

  • Zen Vision M Hanging Is

I have a new Zen Vision M I picked up in Singapore last week (June , 2006). It seems to hang quite a bit. When this happens it will repeat the last perhaps 6th second of audio over and over....kind of a long stutter and not respond to any buttons. I have had to reset the device using the hole at the bottom. I had to do this several times on the Singapore -> Melbourne flight (6+ hours). In the last week I have had to reset several more times. Once when powering it up it hung. It seems I have to keep a pin taped to the device to regularly reset it. Looking around on this site I see references to this problem happening with Firmware version .2x, but this device came with .30.02 on it when I purchased it. Just in case I tried downloading .30.02 and installing it anyway, but all I get is a message that says: Your player is not connected, please connect your player.
I would love to see this problem go away and I look forward to any suggestions on how to fix it.

I had similar problems with a Zen Vision M purchased less than two weeks ago.
I was running firmware .40.x at the time, so that was not the problem.
I did the Rescue Mode Clean up of the dri've. But the problem recurred. So that was not the problem.
Thinking it might be some form of electronics or hard dri've problem, I just let the player play music continuously trying to exacerbate the problem and get it to reproduce the problem.
After a week of owning it, the player became so wedged that not even a reset would resolve the problem. Literally the unit would not reboot and I had to let the battery completely run out as there was no way to do a hard power reset (i.e. pull the battery).
Last night I returned it to BestBuy and exchanged it for a new unit. So far no problems withn the past 20 hours. (The first unit had some UI sluggishness and non responsi'veness the first day out). While the unit booted fine at the BestBuy exchange department, by the time I was signing the paperwork for the exchange, the technician on duty said the player had hung itself.
I'm letting the player play music continously to see if player was a bum player or of player 2 is part of a manufacturing batch problem.
I like my wife's Creative Zen Microphoto so am disappointed by the experience with this first ZVM and the fact that I only got an automated reply from Creative Customer support and no other responses after 0 days.

  • Zen Vision:M Defect!! No response from Customer Suppo

I owned zen vision:M for only two days but it gave me hard time. the buttons does not work at all. I've contacted the creative customer support but there is no response, here is the original message that I sent to the customer support:
<EM>This is very weird but please let me know if this is just the defect of one product or this is the common defect of Zen Vision M. The problem is like this:</EM>
<EM>I was lying on the bad while watching video on the player, I felt tired and turn around to the right side and I accidentally pressed a button on the player. Suddenly the light on the button became very dim(usually it is bright blue but it was dim dark blue at the time) and all of the buttons stopped functioning correctly!! The verticle touch pad did not work, the buttons went crazy and totally misfunctioning!! Luckily I bought a wired remote and when I tried to use it to control the player it worked. Seemed that it was the player itself that was not working. I tried to fix it and after I put the player in different directions and shaked it and randomly pressed the buttons, it went back to normal. The bad thing is, the next day this situation happened again -- when I lied on bed watching video and turned around and pressed some buttons, the player went nuts!! The only difference was that this time it took me much more time to get it back to normal and I don't know why and how I got it bad and got it work. </EM>
    <EM></EM>
<EM>That is the description of the problem, God I owned the player for only two days and it gave me twice the weird experience, which I never want to experience again!! My guess is there might be some welds on the circuit that are not properly soldered. </EM>
    <EM></EM>
<EM>Please give me a solution on it as soon as possible, so that I have time to decide if I am going to keep this player or return it. It is 3:30 in the morning and the player made me mad.</EM>
    <EM></EM>
I do not comment on this but if anyone sees this message you can think it yourself. Anybody give me an advise, should I exchange for a new one or should I consider for an ipod.

The same thing has happened to me. I have not called Creative yet because I wanted to check here before to see if anyone has had the same problem. I turned it on this morning and none of the buttons were working correctly. Let me know if you get a response and what the solution is.

  • Zen Vision:M Problem (Firmware + Recovery Mode) (please un-sti

(apologies on the sticky, i misclicked!)
I've had my Zen Vision:M 30GB for over a year now, and I absolutely love it! Unfortunately, while on my New Years vacation this past week I accidentally dropped it after it tangled in my headphones. Immediately afterwards, I started getting the "recovery mode" problem that seems to crop up. Unable to get past this(it booted only once every million-or-so tries), I decided to use the "MP3 recovery tool" from Creative's site
Unfortunately, it froze up halfway through, and now is giving me a "Hard Disk error". I tried to reformat, and it seemed to wipe it clean...but now it wont even recognize it when I plug it into my USB port to put in new firmware! (The PC recognizes it, but not the Firmware installation)
    I don't know what else I can do....any ideas/help, please?
(I looked at Creative's support pages, but they only deal with Warranty repairs, which I don't have as it was a gift.) Can they repair/replace a broken non-warranty player, and if so, for how much?
Or is there another solution I haven't tried yet?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks in advance!Message Edited by leova on 0-02-200805:06 PM

Customer Support can also arrange out of warranty repairs, and can advise on the price.

  • Zen Vision:M 60GB firmware: NEEDS 'Disc Number' tag supp

The Creative Zen Vision:M 60GB firmware (.20.02e) does not recognise the 'Disc Number' part of ID3 tags.
This is VERY annoying as albums made up of more than one CD do not play in the correct order (they play in order of 'Track Number', e.g. ",,,,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,4,4,5,5" etc). I do not want to go through my collection separating these large albums into a messy bunch of single discs.
This seems like a simple firmware issue: please update it!

    jjwood,
Although I can understand the situation, please refrain from using bad language which is uncalled for. In any case, if the player is still having problem despite attempt at rescue mode, then contact Customer Support for service. If the store where you purchase the product allow exchanges, it maybe faster to be done through them.

  • Zen Vision M: Unable to charge. Nearly to give product back (forev

    Hello,
I purchased a Zen Vision M two weeks ago. When I arri've at home I installed the software successfully and then connected the Zen Vision M to my USB poert on my laptop (Win XP Pro SP2) to charge it; no sign of life. No display activity and NO LED CHARGE ACTIVITY. I letf the ZVM an entire night to see if things changed, but no success. I've tried the following:
    - Disable power saving on usb port: no sign of life
    - Gave everyone permission on usb port: no sign of life
    - Push reset button and the recharge: no sign of life
    - Tried on a different PC: no sign of life
So I retuned to the shop and:
    - We checked with a differnt cable and with a desktop on the shop: no sign of life.
I asked to change the ZVM with another one. Yesterday, after TWO WEEKS of delay (because the shop had to order since it was the last ZVM they had), I had the new ZVM. Result: NO SIGN OF LIFE once again.
    Note that:
    - my USB ports (of both laptop) works perfectly with other devices
    - my usb ports have power: I have a USB PC Lamp, and a USB Optical Mouse and they works perfectly.
    - I let the ZMV connected to the USB port always more than 8 hour. The Laptop power option was set to avoid hybernate or suspend status
    - No application was running during charge
I tryed to find a phone tech support, but - despite the statement on the creative site - in italy there is no phone support, just via e-mail.
If the customer support will not able to resolve the problem I'll give my ZVM back (forever) and I will ask my money back.
My percption of the problem is that the ZVM have battery completed depleted and USB is not able to provide enough power to charge. But the fact that not even the LED id flashing let me with no clue.
I kindly ask the community if someone had the same problems, and if there are any suggestion that AT LEAST let my charge led flashing.
Sorry, for the long post, but I'm really upset with the whole situation.
    Thank you in advance.

I am new to these forums. So bear with me. I am in the Oz outback.
In a possible answer to your problem IlRiccardo I purchased two Zen Vision M units this past week with the same problem. I returned the first unit and got my money back. I purchased a second unit from a different supplier in a another town. Same problem again The second time I did read the supplied booklets in more detail pouring over every word. I found what the symbols in the top right of the screen was suppose to mean. I did purchase units with the Creative supplied powerpack. I was able power the unit up on the external power pack.
    Q. Do you have a symbol that looks like a plug with two prongs on it's
Q2. What is the version number of the installed firmware?
I had that symbol on the top right of the screen. I found through a small Product Information booklet that it was to indicate a fully charged battery and operating on external power. RUBBISH (to the charged battery) as it was a brand new unit. The firmware version installed in both ZENs was .30.xx (cannot remember the last two digits).
I checked the Creative FAQ pages at my daughter's place (in town where I purchased second unit) and found a page listing most of the same symptons as I was experiencing. The download page was talking about a version .50.xx. The link was for a downloadable version of .6.0.
Subsequently I did download the update file and installed it. Low and behold my ZEN Vision M now showed the symbol for a charging battery. The unit did charge up and is working on the battery. Firmware Version .6.0
Check with your supplier/shop where you purchased your ZEN to see if this action will void the warranty? My supplier is suggesting it has!!!!. I hope I don't have to go down the warranty path for any reason.
Hope this helps you and others.
I have post an almost similarly worded reply in another thread about "not charging" SO it is a firmware version issue in my view.
