Replica Migrate Physical box to VM

Hello All,
1) We would like to migrate our aging physical OES DHCP box to our VM environment.
2) The current physical box has a replica of all our partitions and they are R/W.
3) This box is using Failover Peer protocol with another DHCP box.
4) Is it OK do to a live migration over to the VM with that box having a replica of all our partitions?
Thanks
-Hans

Hi.  My new computer had Acrobat on it.  Suddenly, I was unable to open any PDF's.  and then I tried to update and was forwarded to the Adobe site that said I had to buy a monthly subscription.  I do not have the physical box with a serial number and was going to buy the one advertised on the website until I discovered it's only for students and teachers, which I am not.  What should I do next as I need to use PDFs on a daily basis.  Thanks!  I would like to be able to download this and pay online.  Possible? I currently have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.  I have a Windows 7 system.  Please help!

As long as you know your serial number you can download PSE from here:

  • Sharing iTunes libraries from two accounts on the same physical box

I have two users set up for fast user switching on a single box. both users are active. each has its own copy of iTunes running, each with its own library, each set up to share. the firewall has iTunes sharing enabled.
from a separate copy of iTunes on a different box, I can see both libraries posted for sharing. if I try to open one of them (belonging to the administrator account), sharing works as advertised. if I try to open the other, loading times out, and the share fails with error code 3359.
is the problem that only one copy of iTunes on a physical box can be shared at a time? or is there some other configuration issue I've not taken account of?
    thanks
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   iTunes 6.0.3

    thanks for your response.
if you've submitted a feature request, it may be a lost cause for the moment. what I find, however, is that if both are logged on and active, it's the one that started first that's available.
    regards.

  • Can one installation of SSIS be shared by multiple instances on the same physical box?

    Hello everyone,
I hope I'm posting this question on the correct forum.
We are short on money this year and we decided to purchase one physical system to represent Development and QA.
I am designing an architecture around my systems where I would have a two SQL Server Instances (2014, Enterprise Ed), one for each environment:
    DVSV-ODS01\DEV
    DVSV-ODS01\QA
The only possible problem is SSIS, which I cannot have multiple installations of SSIS on the same box.
Is it possible to have the SSIS service serving the two SQL Server instances installed on the same physical box?
    Thanks for your help.

Not on the same physical box, but you can go with running say the QA environment on a Virtual Machine.
E.g. the very free VirtualBox should do it. And then you can install two SSIS instances.
You can even access them simultaneously this way.

  • Shipping question regarding lightroom physical box

I am yet to recieve my physical box of lightroom. DHl Tracking number say it will arrive on Feb 26. The wierd thing is it say "Alaska-DHl Express" instead of "continental usa-DHl Express". In past shipments from Adobe, all of my orders originated in California. This order originated in Kennesaw, Ga. Can anyone please verify where their physical shipment of lightroom originated from? It is listed under you Adobe order history. Just click on the order number. I appologize in advance for asking such a bizzare question.

I know this is an odd question but it will save me a lot of time if someone has the answer.

  • Replicating a DROP BOX ?

I have a series of 30 photos that I want to simply scroll from right to left across the screen.
Each photo is 720 pixels wide, ie: one is the width of my screen. So I need to start the animation off to the right obviously.
Is there any easy way of doing this?
I thought of *replicating a drop box* and changing it to line and then changing the points to 30 etc. But how can I drag a separate photo to each drop box?
Do I have to resort to going through each photo and renaming them p001.jpg, p002.jpg etc...?

I found your method to be more than useful and I think I found a post that might help..

  • VMware Fusion 3 Migration Assistant to migrate physical PC onto existing VM

I posted this on Twitter: VMware announces VMware Fusion 3 details for Mac OS http://bit.ly/43BLHJ
Good to see Fusion 3 coming. I have a question about its Migration Assistant and wonder if anyone can answer based on their use of the assistant in version 2.x
I wonder if it means installed applications on a physical PC are also copied over fully functional to the new virtual machine or just user settings and documents from the PC?
I have an HP Pavilion 17" laptop I despise (noisy hard drives and fans actually can bring on headaches). So this would be good to migrate to my MacBook Pro.
The problem then is, is there a way to migrate the external physical PC onto a VMware based set up I already started using or if that set up will become redundant? Anyone have ideas?
    Imran

According to the Migration Assistant dialog, programs, computer settings, and documents will be copied. It requires that both the Mac and the PC be on and connected through the same network.
For your info, VMWare also offers a free stand-alone utility that does what I think you're looking for. It's called VMWare Converter, and it can be found here:
    http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/
(For all I know, this is what the migration assistant uses.)
It can be run from the system you want to convert or (more ideally) you'd run it to copy the system that you want to convert, without the operating system actively running (basically, run the converter from another computer and have the hard drive with the OS to be virtualized mounted). It takes a while, but it ultimately produces some virtual machine files that can be used by VMWare.
I've used it once before, when I was switching my fiancee over from a terrible HP Pavilion laptop (15") to a Macbook. It was rather incredible - her entire system was cloned perfectly, and easily accessible through VMWare Fusion. Some useless utilities could be removed (things like special keyboard control software and Intel's wireless client manager, as the hardware that those programs utilized was no longer there) but otherwise all data and programs were copied perfectly. You'd never know that it was a copy of a real machine, it was so perfect. Really fantastic stuff.

  • Migrating from Local Database to OpenDirectory, and Migrating IMAP Boxes

I have a Xserve G5 running 10.4.11 and using a local (non shared) directory with all of my users on it. I'm planning to install a new Xserve (10.5.2) to use as a Fileserver and Filemaker Server, essentialy leaving the mail service to the G5. However, i want to use the OpenDirectory on the 10.5 server in order to maintain only one user database. I'Ve tested out the functionnalities and it looks like that there is no problems using the 10.5 OD with my 10.4 server, however, since 90% of my users are using IMAP mailboxes, i cannot migrate the database to the new users
    Example:
On the local directory of the 10.4 server, i have a user called Wiggum using IMAP mailbox, working fine. I tell my 10.4 to use the OD on the 10.5 server (user Wiggum already configured over there with the same settings, passwords) and when i remove the user from the local directory, leaving only the OD, the user is working OK, mail is working fine but i loose all contents of my IMAP box, i get only the new mails.
Is there a way to migrate the IMAP boxes from the users on the local directory when i migrate them to the new OD.

I would think the first shortname is different in OD vs. the local user. Thus, creating a second mailbox and this is why you see only new incoming mail.
Check if you have "duplicate" mailboxes. If yes, you could copy mail from one to the other and reconstruct the mail database.

  • Migrate Physical NW6.5 to VM ESXI with Portlock

I am looking to consolidate my windows and Netware servers on one box
running VMware ESXI. Does anyone have experience moving physical to virtual
using Portlock. They claim to make it simple as pie. Will the source
server stay up and running? Will Netware automatically reconfigure for the
new machine? The server hardware boxes are matching. Running NW6.5 sp5

Thanks, I give a try once the new server comes (old one really bought on
ebay) I'll sell once the process is done

  • Lessons Learned Migrating from BOXI R1 to BOXI R2

    Post Author: tmiller
    CA Forum: Deployment
Some notes from our upgrade from Release 1 to Release 2 to, hopefully, prevent headaches in other users:
Make sure you have your Release 2 license keys, Release 1 keys won't work (check with your vendor if you are an OEM purchaser)
Make sure you have notes on all your server configurations, including which Destinations are enabled (and their configurations) for the Job Server.  Screen shots are a big help here.
If you are an OEM user, you have to install at least SP2 (which requires SP1 be installed first) or your licensing will be, uh, how to put it delicately, invalid
During upgrade, add your license keys in the console BEFORE doing the datasource upgrade.
If you are upgrading in-place, what worked best for us was to restore our pre-upgrade backup of the CMS database (we use SQL Server) to a new database and import from there to the bobjecms database.  You also need to have a different ODBC DSN setup for each of these databases.
Once your datasource import is done, make sure you run the UPDATE OBJECTS process from the Central Configuration Manager, otherwise, you'll get an error if you use Windows AD authentication: Error retrieving info for Windows AD authentication: Unable to get SI_SSO_VENDOR property value.  (Windows AD authentication won't work, you'll get this error when trying to configure it through CMS).
Enable servers that you noted in step 2
You'll need to update Crystal Reports for your report developers to Release 2, also - especially if you use Windows AD authentication.  Do a COMPLETE UNINSTALL of Crystal Reports release 1, reboot, and then install a fresh Release 2.  If you don't uninstall R1, you will most likely have an annoying "Please wait while Windows configures Crystal Reports XI Release 2" window every time you load Crystal or any VB developed app or Visual Studio 2005.  This might be limited to only clients with VS 2005 installed, but might notu2026
Those were the major (and minor) hurdles we had to clear to get this upgrade done correctly u2013 and this is also an excellent example of why we have a test and a production server.
Hope this helps someone else out there.

    Hi Tom,
Great notes, I'd like to add a few details that many people don't know as well.
    1) Many times an upgrade from XIR1 to XIR2 will not be possible. This due to complexities in the DB structure that just don't migrate properly. In these cases there will be many errors during the CMS DB copy stage and the update objetcs stage. If this is the case then you must "migrate" via import wizard instead of "upgrading".
    2) I know you mentioned that you were working off a backup of the original XIR1 CMS DB, but I'd like to add in NO circumstances should this be attempted against a live CMS production DB. If it is most likely your production server will go down and the upgrade will fail. This is due to tables being locked while the CMS copy utiltiy is trying to migrate them.
    3) Regarding Crystal XIR1: You can still keep CRR1 but if you have AD or LDAP auth you will need to patch the client with the Server's SP3 or later.
    4) Also to note CRX1 should NEVER be installed on an existing XIR2 server. CRXIR2 is available for download for free via ESD and will use existing CRXI keycodes.

    Tim

  • TREX 7.0 with ECC6 (A+J) on same physical box

    Hi,
We are building a eREC6 landscape. With below details.
    1. EP7 system
    2. TREX 7.0 and ECC6 (A+J) on windows 64 bit physical server with MS SQL server 2005.
This is for the eRecruitment 6.0 software solution landscape. This is just for demo and training purpose.
I will do the RFC and HTTP connection between ECC6 and TREX 7.0.
I will connect ECC6 system in portal for Single sign on.
Will you please tel me steps for TREX connectivity with ECC6.
Will you please tell me is there any other specific configuration we need to do for eREC 6.0 configuration in this landscape.
I am having setup guide for ECC6 and TREX 7.0 and even some material for eREC 6.0 but in this they have not given specific detailed document.
If possible please let me know any other steps I need to take for this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ripal

    Hi Ripal,
as soon, as you have a search-specific issue, I might be able to help.
As long as you ask about eRec in general, please post to the appropriate ERP or HCM forum.

  • Is there a way to segregate the SAP WAS into 2 physical boxes

in a traditional J2EE architecture, I can have one physical machine running the web server and another physical machine running the J2EE server.
With WAS, can i actually do that? If I'm using Webdynpro, is it even possible? That's because WebDynpro theoretically is java code, which i guess might be tied to the EJB container.. therefore, I'm wondering if you can actually split the web server and J2EE server portions of WAS into 2 seperate machines? Typically, that is done so that the web server lies outside the DMZ.
    Any advise?

    Hi,
no, I don't think you can split the Web AS Java to run the web server part of it (e.g. Web Container) on a different machine. If you desperately need such a configuration, you can configure the IIS or Apache web server to run on a separate host and the Web AS Java on another. Here is documentation about how to configure that: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b5/814d28e7b16d418917ca08b85a9921/frameset.htm
Another point - Web Dynpro is not a web server itself (if that's what you meant in your post). It is rather a framework for developing UIs. For more info, see documentation about Web Dynpro architecture: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a5/1a1e3e7181b60ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Hope that answers your question?

  • Migrating from BOXI R2 to R3 - Need URL information for CreateNew/Modify.

    Hi,
Ours is a web application  deployed on websphere and we connect to business objects  from the application for reporting.
We are using BOXIR2 and are in process of migrating to BO XI R3.
Within our application we have the functionality to create, edit adhoc reports on business objects.
For this in R2 we are using the following urls.
To create new adhoc report     --
    http://machinename:portnumber/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/InfoView/CrystalEnterprise_Webi/new.do
To modify adhoc report          -- http://machinename:portnumber/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/InfoView/CrystalEnterprise_Webi/modify.do
These URLs do not work in R3.
We are looking out for the corresponding urls to be used in R3 for the above functionality to work.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank You.

You will need to figure those out on your own (or if you are lucky someone else on the forum has already done it and will post).
Essentially we do not have those urls documented and to access those pages you should be going through Infoview itself and not directly to them.
    Good luck,
    Jason

  • Left outer join BO5.1universe-migrated to BOXI left outer join missing(DB2)

Two tables are joined using left outer join in BO 5.1 universe which is using DB2 database. When we migrated this universe to BO XI R2, the same join is existing at universe level but missing at the report level .
Before migration, query from BO 5.1 report is as follows:
    SELECT
      NUPB.TPBMCFOS.SYSTEM,
      NUDW.TDWDAGY.AGY_ACCOUNT_SOURCE,

After migration, query from DeskI report is as follows:

    WHERE

I've found similar behaviour but with SQL server database (also migrating from 5.1.6 to XiR2)
You can also add the parameter EXT_JOIN_INVERT = Yes to your parameter screen in designer
Maybe this wil help? (it did the trick for me)
    If this doesn't work...
Also check your appropriate db2 PRM file  for the same parameters:
    <Instal location>\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\db2
I'm not sure how what is used when or maybe both but it has got something to do with those 2 options(parameter screen in designer vs. PRm file on server)
