REPLICAT CREATE TABLESPACE USING GG

Hi All,
We have GG setup for 2 schema`s between the databases.
I have extract parameter for the both the schema as
DDL include mapped objname schema1.* &
include mapped objname schema2.* &
And we use to create tablespace frequently on this database as sysdba.I want that to be replicate to DR as well..
i tried
include mapped objtype TABLESPACE objowner SYS and it is erroring..
Can someone provide correct parameter to include only create tablespace of sys

  • Create tablespace using RAW device

    Hi,
When you create the tablespace using RAW device, you no need to specify the size parameter in the sql. It works in Solaris but not in Linux.
I dont know why, can anyone experience this issue before? please let me know
    Thanks
    Veera

My advice for you would be to always include SIZE parameter when you create tablespace, redo log file on raw device.

  • Tablespace used percentage

We normally keep tablespace used at 85% (3 terabytes database).
Our Boss want to lower to 50% ,say it will be more efficient.
What's optimal percentage ? is lesser the better ?

We normally keep tablespace used at 85% (3 terabytes database).
What does USED mean to you?
How did you compute the USED amount and percentage?
What process do you use to 'keep tablespace used at 85%'?
Are you using tablespace that autoextend?
Are you frequently deleting/dropping/creating large amounts of data?
What's optimal percentage ? is lesser the better ?
    ABSOLUTELY!
There are many research papers from reputable firms showing that ZERO data is BY FAR the most efficient for queries and reports.
Systems with ZERO data have been found to have a MUCH LOWER latency time from query to results. In fact the time it takes to return ALL rows for a result set is, unbelievable, the SAME time it takes to return the FIRST row.
Naturally those results REQUIRE that statistics be kept up to date so that the optimizer KNOWS that there is NO DATA in ANY of the tables.
There are additional benefits that are often overlooked:
    1. The SUBSTANTIALLY reduced amount of memory needed when there is NO DATA.
    2. The UNDO tablespace can be much smaller because DML is NEVER needed
    3. The REDO logs are much smaller
    4. Backups and restore are lightning fast
    5. You can easily, quickly and reliable replicate the database IN REAL TIME to as many other instances as you wish with NO LOSS OF DATA!
    6. Security is greatly simplified
    7. Auditing is NOT even required - I read one recommendation from a leading CPA auditing firm saying they fully support the use of databases with NO DATA as providing (this is an EXACT QUOTE): the HIGHEST POSSIBLE LEVEL OF SECURITY.
I suggest you modify your processes to begin the transition to a  NO DATA database as quickly as possible.
Although you can do this mostly online there will be a brief period of time when you will need exclusive access to the database.
    Good luck with your project!

You state you have dropped the tablespace (which does not necessarily automatically drop the datafiles in version 9i); and
You state you are trying to locate the tablespace's datafiles in a new file system where no files should exist.
    Please post response to
    ls -ld /server47/Bankareas/CFC/oracledatafiles

    Thanks,

Your real problem is that PSAPUNDO does not exist. For an unknown reason you are using PSAPUNDO1. so, you must fix this:
    shutdown your DB.
rename tablespace PSAPUNDO1 to PSAPUNDO. this can be done with:
    brspace -c force -f tsalter -a rename -t PSAPUNDO1 -n PSAPUNDO
you will also need to change parameter undo_tablespace to PSAPUNDO
if using initSID.ora, change this manually. or else, do this:
    alter system set undo_tablespace=PSAPUNDO scope=both;
you might need to restart your database.
    good luck.

  • Createtablespace.sql is creating tablespaces in wrong sid

    Hi,
We are in the process of performing system copy of EHP4 for TDMS shell creation using standard system copy process as suggested by sap.
During export while SAPInst asked for Import Migration Directory we provided the export dump of target system ( modified as per TDMS shell creation)
During system copy we are getting the error during create table space phase. SAPinst is creating the tablespace with source system SID. .i.e instead of T02 it is taking P02.
    create tablespace P02#USER1D
in nodegroup SAPNODEGRP_T02 pagesize 16k  extentsize 8 prefetchsize automatic
      no file system caching
Because of that we are getting following error during import phase.
    ERROR      2009-08-10 07:24:33.154 [iaxxinscbk.cpp:260]
MDB-01999  Error occured, first error is: <SQL0204N  "P02#DDICD" is an undefined name.  SQLSTATE=42704>
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
I have recently expierienced a very simialr sort of error doing a EHP5 upgrade.
(it's similar because I did a standard system copy (export/import) and got the same error )
It's not realy a solution but guidance:
If you check this table DDSTORAGE and search for the incorrect sid:
eg (assuming P02 is the incorrect SID):
select * from <your_schema>.ddstorage where text like '%P02%
you'll probrably find the erronous entries.
Since this a rare occurance, the best advice would be to open a message to SAP.
They would probrably want to remotely connected to the system and have a look.
I don't think there is a gerneral fix and each occurance would have to be handle at an individual level.
Since I use DB2 I used this component when creating my OSS:
    BC-DB-DB6-UPG
I know this thread is old but
I've answered here as hopefully it may benifit anyone else that finds this thread.
    Kind Regards,

  • Create tablespace in Oracle 10g Express

    Hi,
I've been playing around over the last few days with Oracle 10g Express and I need to create my own tablespace and therefore create user associated with my custom table space.
I tried with the command create tablespace, but I am not successful with configuring the parameters such as the datafile location and such. I did go through the Oracle Concepts Guide which was very helpful, but I must be missing something.
Also assuming that my db scheme will be part of my application and therefore released to my client as script so they can re-create my database how would the table space integration work on their end.
I would I have to place my first line of the script to create the table space and ask them for database file location?
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you.How about checking with the fine SQL Reference manual for the syntax of the CREATE TABLESPACE command?
Learning where to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com. Drill down to your product and version.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are reference manuals. Just get familiar with what is there to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

You could use import option show=y to capture import run statements and find CREATE TABLESPACE statements. Keep in mind your target database already has undo, temp system, etc. tablespaces so you do not need to precreate them. Then rerun import.

it is recommended to have small sized blocks for OLTP, and big sized for DSS. The reasons:
You can try different block sizes in tablespaces...
On OLTP, a smaller block size reduces contention:
    1. Reduces the possibility of concurrent transaction and locks on the same block.
    2. Provides a better locking mechanism
    3. Less transacction locks possibilities at the block header.
DSS benefit from big blocks mainly because of IO:
    1. Retrieves in less IO operations more data, which is critical for FTS and index scans.
    2. A higher row density means less IO
    3. Indexes retrieve information on a block per block basis, with big blocks indexes are retrieved with less IO
    4. Reduces the chances of chained rows.
Check the following link for examples and details information. If johnpau needs a 50G file he has no choice: 16K blocks is the only option.

  • Creating tablespace in Timesten

    Hi,
I am trying to use Timesten as stand alone database. When I try to create tablespace from sqldeveloper, it is failing. Can anybody please
let me know whether it is possible to create tablespaces or not.
    Thanks

No, TimesTen does not have the concept of tablespaces. These are not relevant for an in-memory database. While TimesTen is similar to Oracle DB in many ways it is also very different to oracle DB in many other ways and has different concepts and terminology (and in some cases the same terminology but meaning something different to Oracle DB).

  • How to exclude UNDO and temp tablespace using monitoring template

    hi,
as per MOS note id 816920.1 undo and temp tablespace is excluded from monitoring starting version 11G onwards. It says that thresholds will need to be explicitly set if undo and temp needs to be monitored
we have grid 12C implemented now with monitoring templates which sets thresholds for all tablespaces. does it apply that thresholds to undo and temp too?? we are receiving alerts for undo and temp tablespaces and we wish to disable them. We have undo tablespaces with different names in many databases as per naming conventions for that line of business.
How can i exclude undo and temp tablespaces from monitoring using grid 12C monitoring templates. is there a way through templates where i can set thresholds of permanent tablespaces only???

In EM12c, go to the 'Enterprise' menu, then 'Job', then 'Library'. There should be an out-of-the-box job called "DISABLE TABLESPACE USED (%) ALERTS FOR UNDO AND TEMP TABLESPACES" that you can run against your database targets, and that job will disable database-generated alerts.
If a previous admin has set up EM12c-generated alerts for undo and temp, then yes, a monitoring template will take care of disabling them. Either remove those alerts from the existing monitoring template and apply them to your targets, or create a new monitoring template based on one database's current settings, remove those warning/critical thresholds for your undo and temp tablespaces, and apply it to your targets.
