Hello experts,
I have a 7.0-DataSource in my BW-System. But now I want to get a 3.x-DataSource again.
I tried to delete the datasource, but as soon as I replicate I always get a 7.0-DataSource.
I thought, if I delete the DataSource, the System has to ask me again if I want to replicate the datasource as a 7.0-datasource or a 3.x-datasource...
how can I get back to the 3.x-datasource?

Question to Datasource transport

I repulicate one datasource from R/3 to Production BI system using 3.5 version. However I used this datasource as 7.0 version, also created transformation based on the datasource in BI development system. Quesiton is if I transport request from BI development to BI production system, does this datasource with 3.5 verison will be changed automatically to 7.0 version? Are there any risk on it. Thanks!

Once u migrated Datasource to 7.0 in Dev, after transport it will appear as 7.0 datasource.. No need to migrate there in Production...
in prod system, after replication datasource will have the inactive status..
Now U have to transport same datasource from BI DEV to BI PRD... And this will overwrite the replicated inactive datasource

Cannot replicate a datasource in BW, System asks for deletion

Hi All,
When I ask for "Replicate Datasources" in our BW system after an upgrade of R/3, it displays the "Deletion of Datasources" window specifying if we would want to delete the datasource since it cannot be replicated.
In what circumstances, do we get this message ?
Is that because BW is seeing new datasources in R/3 which has not been activated ? Then, why would the BW see the new datasources even if they are not active.
Is it safe to say YES to delete all the datasources that cannot be replicated ?

Hi Alain,
as explained in the OSS Note 589361 'Deleting DataSources in BW during replication',
"DataSources that cannot be found (perhaps only temporarily) when a certain component is being replicated are considered obsolete and are deleted...".
So, probably your upgrade process in R/3 deleted some datasource in your source system (no longer in use or no more supported or no more active and available only in D version...).
Try to verify that every datasource used by you is still in RSA6 in R/3...then click YES, I think with no problem...

BW APO Transport steps (also please look into the error).

We have created data marts from BID to APOD and the loads are fine, I am ready with the trasports from APO dev to APO quality. I captured the replication (datasources), Transfer Structure, comm structure, update rules and infopackage, process chain .. everything is on APODev side..When i trasported orderly,we are getting this error.
Object 'DM' (APCO) of type 'Application' is not available in version 'A'

You wanted to generate an object with the name 'DM' (in transport request APCO) of type 'Application' (TLOGO). This is, however, not available in the BW Repository database. It does not exist in the requested version A. If the version is 'D' then it is possible that an error arose during the delivery or installation. If the version is 'A' then the Object was either not created or not activated.
Please give me the resolution with the above error, please tell me what all i need to capture when i trasnport the datamrts.Do i need to cature anything on BID also...or only in APO DEv.

They are on different appliction servers, I have done the steps in APO QA some time back..i replicated the data source on APO QA side.. and i tried to move the transports , still i get the error..
I am confused at one point and need some help in clarification. I have ODS on BW side and Cube on APO side, so when i do the generate export data source on BW side. should i send the ODS activation from BID to BIQ as well, My point here is should i transport anything on BW side (BID to BIQ) apart from APO DEV to APO QA,
i have all transports ready on APO Dev side and i am getting the error,

Replication of DataSource

Hi,
i have issue with the replication of DataSource 0CUST_SALES_ATTR.
when i replicate the datasource it is shown as replicated, but the
structure for the new fields are not getting copyed at the Bi side.
new Enhanced fild is found at r3 side fot this data source, and data
for this new field is found for this data source at r3 side in rsa3,
but when i am doing the replication at BI side the new structure
is not replicated .
Please sugest in this regard

Hi,
In ECC
Goto RSA6 in ECC and expand the SAP R/3 and find your datasource and then place cursor on that and click on Chnage Icon it will takes to you to RSO2 screen internally and if teh fileds are check with HIDE/FIeld only , then UN CHACK it and then Generate it and check in RSA3 for Data.
Then goto BW and then Replicate the DS and see it, if you didn't find then Right click on DS in BW and Change and then Activate it.

Datasource activation in BI 7.0 after replication

Hi Gurus
we have SAP BI 7.0 and we are extracting data from SAP ECC 5.0.
We have few custom datasources created on R3 side which we have replicated and activated( Manually) on BI Dev side.
Now the problem is when we transported the datasource from R3 Dev to R3 Q and replicated to BI Q , the datasource was replicated correctly ( as BI datasources ) but it is in M version. Would you please advise how can I activate that datasource?
I heared so many ways of activating the datasources but nothing confirm , would anybody please advise me how many ways we can activate the datasource in Q and P after replication? ( for all 3X version we didnt have this problem as datasources were replicated in active mode only ).

Have you transported the BI mappings also (Transformations or Transfer Rules) and even then the data sources are still in 'M' version.
If not -
I would suggest to transport a BI mapping from BI dev to Q.
Make sure to collect the R/3 active data source in this BI transport.
I assume the 'Import' & 'Method execution' steps in the transport might activate the data sources also.
(P.S: In stead of transporting all the mappings, transport only a test mapping)

How to change datasource type 3.x or new after replication?

Hello,
after the replication of a datasource i got a popup, if i want an old 3.X datasource or a new datasource. I clicked new, but i need an old 3.x datasource. Now i don't have a chance the change this.Where can i do it?
I deleted the datasource in sourcesystem, but after new replication i don't get the popup to choose the datasource type.
The problem is, i can't change the technical name of the datasource in sourcesystem because of the naming convention.

it's a generic datasource i created.The problem is that i create a 3.x Infosource too and i want use my generic datasource. But after replication i choose the false type (new datasource and not 3.x datasource) and now i can't assign my datasource to my 3.x infosource.I see the datasource in the sourcesystem-tree but not in the infosource-datasource-assigning-Popup.
How can i change the type of datasource from new datasource to 3.x datasource in BI 7.0???

Table names for Datasource mapping and Replication details in BI 7.0

Hi All,
I need the table names for InfoSource to Datasource mapping as well as table containing replication details of OLTP sources in BW. I need these for BI 7.0 datasources (object type RSDS).
I know that tables RSISOSMAP and RSOLTPSOURCE give me the above information, but only for 3.x datasources. I want the corresponding tables giving same information for 7.0 datasources.
Any pointers to these tables would be well appreciated and suitably rewarded.

Datasource replication

Hi friends,
I have a generic datasource which i extended in the R/3 Dev side and have put all the required objects in a request and the request was successfully transported to the R/3 QA. Now i did a replication of datasource in BW dev and everything was fine in dev. How can i transfer the datasource changes from BW dev to QA dev? In my QA dev i still see the old data source. In order to refresh this, what r the steps i need to perform?

Hi Sriram,
Try this
RSA1-> Transport Connection -> SAP Transport
Under this folder you will find Object Types, Select Object types
Now in the adjacent column you will find all the Object types in the system. Expand ISFS (3.X Datasource) and select the Datasource that you want to replicate. This will be collected in the collected objects section.
Here you can select the Datasource , right click Display Object Directory Entry, Change Package etc.
Change and save it in a transport.

I deleted 0PROFIT_CTR_TEXT- Datasource, as it was showing some errors in transformations mapping, but again for installation purpose, when i search da same Datasource thru Business cntnt, it shows Object Not Found. I hv checked in RSA5/6,Here the DS is in Active version, but im nt able to Find the same in Business Content? So I hv thought of replicating again from Source system,please advice against this,,

Hi,
Replication basically means making the timestamp of the DS same. Now lets say we have a DS x and y in R/3 in the same application component in which your DS is there. now if somebody made some changes to it but the changes are not yet moved intentionally might be becuase of any testing or some other reasons now if u replicate the ds in your application componet all the carried out changes will be replicated to the system where ever u are replicating.
If its dev system it might not have any impact but be sure to ask someone in any other system.
This is a case which can happen if this isnt the case u can go ahead and replicate

Actually I want to do a mass replication of datasources in BW 3.5 system. I have searched through the programs and FM, but could not find any. Please provide me some details of how to write a program in ABAP to replicate and activate a lot of data sources and not doing it manually.

Hi....
You can do as Prashant had told.......if you have only 70 datasource in your system.......
But if there are many datasources....then also you can do that..but the thing is it will replicate all the datasources ......not only those 70.......
In that case you can do one thing........create obe Z table where you maintainr all the 70 datasources and the logistic system name for each datasource......
Then create a program in the following way ......
Suppose the tabke that you have created is ZDATASOURCE
T_ZDATASOURCE TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ZDATASOURCE,
W_ZDATASOURCE like LINE OF T_ZDATASOURCE.
Select * from ZDATASOURCE into table T_ZDATASOURCE.
LOOP AT T_ZDATASOURCE ASSIGNING W_ZDATASOURCE .
Here call the function RSDS_DATASOURCE_REPLICATE with all the parameters.
In the parameter pass the datasource name and the logistic system name as
W_ZDATASOURCE - DS (Suppose the technical name of the datasource you have given as DS)
W_ZDATASOURCE -LOGSYS (Suppose the technical name of the logistic system you have given as LOGSYS )
Endloop.

Problem in activating datasource after replication from source system

After replication of data sources from source system ,I get all data sources inactive. I tried to make it active manually but every time I get

Hello,
You do not mention your source system release but can you execute the check report
described in the SAP note 493422 , if this does not resolve the problem can you goto
RSA1, right click on the relevant "source system" and choose the "restore" option,
then please try and replicate and activate the datasource again.
If you have BW release 7.0 please check that the note 929751is applied in your system
or that you are on a higher support package level.
If there is still a problem please le me know your BW Release and Support package level.

Replication of datasource in BI

From what i have understood , after creating a datasource in source system and after selecting the required fields from
the source system, it has to be communicated to the BI.
This is done by replicating in the BI system
My question is what exactly happens after replication
IF i have selected ten fields from the source system, will infoobjects looking similar to those fields will be generated in BI system

DataSource replication error

Hello experts,
when running a process chain I get an replication error.
it says
"..the DataSource 8Z_ODS_1 (its an ODS-Object) has a different timestamp in sourcesystem than in Business Information Warehouse ..."
I have no clue what this is supposed to mean!
any suggestions?

Hi Linda,
1. You can use the below program to activate.
RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL porgram (se38) -> give the infosource name and activate.
2. Or search the Infosource in RSA1 and go into the Tranfer rules and click on activate button.
If you do not have authorisation in your Quality or Production server for the above two steps, do the step 2 in Development. You will be prompted for a transport request creation. Create the TR and release it to the target server.

I am not sure if I copy you properly however ,I put my thoughts and analysis below-
<b>Reason and Prerequisites</b>
When you activate a DataSource (R3TR RSDS), the system generates the Dictionary objects, the transfer structure in the BI system and the source system, and the Persistent Staging Area. This is a fixed part of the object generation that ensures that data can subsequently be loaded to the Persistent Staging Area. A transformation does not have to exist for this purpose.
This type of process was not used for 3.x DataSources: With 3.x objects, data could only be loaded after a 3.x DataSource (R3TR ISFS) had been mapped to a 3.x InfoSource and the relevant transfer rule had been activated. This means that this type of process also required an explicit and manual step to generate the Dictionary objects.
If all replicated DataSources (R3TR RSDS) were activated automatically, the system would generate a large number of mostly superfluous Dictionary objects. In addition, the replication would take several hours, for example, when you connect a new source system with several hundreds of DataSources.
<b>Solution</b>
Before loading data or creating a transformation, manually activate the DataSources (R3TR RSDS) that are really required.
