Replication failing on ids 5.2 update4

We currently have a multimaster ldap setup. All ldapserver's run solaris 10 and the replication was working fine till we had a power outage due to two power strips blowing fuses.
Now when we start ldap on the master server get the following

Have you enabled debug logging because you are seeing some problem? If so, what is the problem. Try stopping the master, removing the nsslapd-infolog-area and nsslapd-infolog-level from dse.ldif and starting instance again. This should restore logging levels to normal and you might be able to see any important error messages.

    Hello,
If you see error descriptioon it gives access denied so basically it is because of some access issue.I guess You must be using some domin account for installation make sure it is  added as local administrator also instead of using NT Authority network
service  as SQL server service account use local system account .
    Below link would help
    http://serverfault.com/questions/212135/access-is-denied-error-installing-sql-server-2008-on-windows-7
You can also browse to setup.exe file and RK on it and select run as administrator

    settings for Replication and Backup
I have followed this checklist: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8795 to make sure configs are ok.
    But still replication fails.
There is no firewall in between.
Both ACS servers running on MS Windows Server  2003, SP2.
    Can
anybody help me in the right direction what could be possible cause of
this or where else I can look for logging for further troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Hi,
Also check the port number TCP 2000 this is the replication port which needs to be opened between the primary and secondary ACS.
    Hope to Help !!

  • ACS 4.2.(1) build15 - replication failed with Cannot access file

Just upgraded from 4.0 - to 4.2 then to 4.2.1 15. As you may have seen with periovous posts of mine its not been an esay ride.
I have now managed to get it all working - backups AAA etc but for some reason i cannot get the replication to work! Its states the following...
Within the Database Replication active log - Error OutBound database replication failed - refer to CSAuth log file.
Other lines in the log state  its ok eg - Component logging reports was updated - being replicated to slave...
Looking at the CSAuth log file...
    .....DBReplication thread kicked..starting sync.
ODBC Operation failed with the folowing information: Message = [Sybase] [ODBC Driver] [Adaptive Server Anywhere] Cannot access file "D:$etworks\CiscoSecure 4.2\CSAuth\DbSyncSratch\users\users.dat~ -- Invailed argument, sqlStates=S1000, Native error = -602$
    SL:saveUserTable - execution Failed.
Please note that the $ is a symbol that i have used because the symbol in the log is strange and i  cannot seem to be able replicate here with this text, for example $etworks - should be networks...
Everything else seems to be working except this - any help would be great..
Oh Merry Xmas and Happy new year to you all!
    John

    Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem with the exact same symptoms - I can't get replication to work. The path name in the error message is missing the first letter, too.
PS: It has nothing to do with the firewall, the replication fails even before it tries to connect to the network.

  • Replication fail-over and reconfiguration

I would like to get a conversation going on the topic of Replication, I have
setup replication on several sites using the Netscape / iPlanet 4.x server
and all has worked fine so far. I now need to produce some documentation and
testing for replication fail-over for the master. I would like to hear from
anyone with some experience on promoting a consumer to a supplier. I'm
looking for the best practice on this issue. Here is what I am thinking,
please feel free to correct me or add input.
    Disaster recovery plan:
1.) Select a consumer from the group of read-only replicas
2.) Change the database from Read-Only to Read-Write
3.) Delete the replication agreement (in my case I am using a SIR)
4.) Create a new agreement to reflect the supplier status of the chosen
replica (again a SIR for me)
5.) Reinitialize the consumers (Online or LDIF depending on your number of
    entries)
That is the general plan so far. Other questions and topics might include:
1.) What to do when the original master comes back online
2.) DNS round-robin strategies (Hardware assistance, Dynamic DNS, etc)
3.) General backup and recovery procedures when: 1.) Directory is corrupted
2.) Link is down / network is partitioned 3.) Disk / server corruption /
    destruction
Well I hope that is a good basis for getting a discussion going. Feel free
to email me if you have questions or I can help you with one of your issues.
    Best regards,
    Ray Cormier

There is no failover in Meta-Directory 5.1, you can implement manual failover on the metaview by using multi-master replication with Directory Server. There are limitations and this is a manual process.

  • ACS SE Database replication fails

Hello, I recently upgraded our ACS SEs from 4.0 to 4.1. All appeared to go OK but I checked the logs recently and saw the the database replication is failing with the message:
ACS '[hostname]'is running a different version of ACS - aborting.
All ACS SE were upgraded at the same time and display the same versions when examining the Appliance Upgrade page. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am having a related problem but in my case I am using ACS for Windows ver.4.0. I am replicating from one primary ACS to three other ACS using scheduled nightly replication.
The problem is that the data is being updated on all three ACS servers, but in the database replication logs on the primary I get messages stating that "ACS-server-name replication failed possibly due to short time-out or dead". Moreover, not all three servers timeout. Sometimes one server timeout, and other times two servers timeout, etc.
On the replicated servers logs, the only log, in case server times out, shows that "replication cycle starting....". while when replication is successfull, it also shows Replication cycle completed successfully.
I have played around with the timeouts but the result is random. I have also checked if there are any bandwidth issues, but replication is scheduled at night with minimal network traffic and the servers are also not being used for authentications.
Don't understand why I don't see successful messages all the time, specially when the data does get updated on the replica ACS.
    Thanks.

  • Active Directory Replication failed

    Hi all,
I'm deploying lync server 2010 in virtual server.
My Domain controller is a physical server.
Windows update restart is done when almost 90% of deployment is completed.
During enabling users in Lync Server control panel
I have got an issue after server restart, is active directory replication failed.
    Regards,
    Arun.

The problem is more related with Domain Controller.
Please check the event log on Domain Controller.

You have a network issue. Make sure there are no firewalls
    between both
servers and your routing is set up correctly. If that doesn't
    work, we
need a dump of the route table, the interface configuration
    and the
overview of instances from the cluster manager.

  • DFS Replication failed to contact Domain Controller.....

I have seen this error since the inception of this stand alone AD PDC instance of Windows server 2012 R2 Essentials. I understand that Essentials does not support other Domain Controllers ; Member servers ; or trust between Domains of any kind. I also
understand that DSF Replication is a service that replicates files between other servers and other domain servers that Essentials dose not want to talk to.
So my question is why am I seeing this DFSR error 1202  in my event log, if Essentials does not support communication to other servers and domain servers? Maybe a better question is why does Essentials even try to implement this
service? Do I even need to try to resolve this issue or should I just disable it and move on?

    Hi,
Did you mean that you did not configure a DFS server in the new DC but you get the DFSR error 1202 in your event log? Then the issue is not related to the existing SBS domain.
Please try to turn off the Windows Firewall to check if it causes the issue. You could also refer to the articles below to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Trans. Replication failing -- "Cannot update identity column ..." -- unable to use sp_browsereplcmds to view statement

All, I'm trying fix an issue with transactional replication where replication monitor is showing the push to the subscriber is failing because of the error, "Cannot update identity column."  I've tried to use sp_browsereplcmds to pull up the
command that's failing based on the xact_seqno but when I try that I get the error:
Number: 102, State: 1, Procedure: , LineNumber: 0, Server: , Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
    Message: Incorrect syntax near '┻'.
I'd like to fix the issue without having to rebuild replication during a maintenance window.  I know you cannot publish tables with primary keys, but I'm wondering if dropping the identity column on this table might fix the issue.  I'm considering
that but I would prefer to be able to pull the command that's trying to update the identity column, throw in SET IDENTITY_INSERT ON and remove the commands from the distribution database, but if that doesn't work I'm open to ideas of just dropping the primary
key on the replicated table.  I think that should be fine.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to view the command that's failing?
Or if dropping the primary key on the subscriber table would create issues with the publisher (since it is also the primary key)?
Or, know of any other ways in which to address this issue?  Thanks.

Unfortunately, no.  The error was a bit of a red herring.  In the end the subscriber was missing all of the stored procedures needed to update data in the published tables (i.e., the procedures for performing inserts/updates/deletes were missing
for every table in the subscriber database).  Additionally, I could not recreate these stored procedures using sp_scriptpublicationcustomprocs
because another procedure which was required for that proc to work was also missing. In short, there were hundreds of missing stored procedures in the subscriber database on which transactional replication is dependent in order to replicate DML changes and
function normally and this includes system sprocs which would've been used to recreate the missing DML procs. In short, the subscriber was badly damaged and deemed to be unrecoverable within a reasonable time frame.
The solution was to tear down and start over, which we did successfully later in the evening.

  • Replica Planned Failover - Reverse Replication Fails

Replication was created successfully from server HV1 to HV2.  Both HV servers are domain members, with valid DNS.  I can add HV2 to the Hyper-V management console on HV1, and vice versa, so I can manage both servers from either console. (i.e.,
they talk nicely to each other)
When I run a Planned Failover test, the message shown below pops up saying "Hyper-V failed to enable reverse replication", along with additional info.
Before I needlessly get too wordy in this post, any ideas on what the problem is?
NOTE:  NO firewall is running on either machine.

Both servers answer on port 80 with telnet.  When any character is typed in, an HTTP response is given which demonstrates the service is listening and responding.  (BOTH servers give an identical response.)

    Connection to host lost.
Next comes the powershell test.  Running the powershell test on HV1 where the original VM is (looking toward HV2 where the replica is) a success resonse is given.   However, when running the same test on HV2, it errors with
    the response:
Test-VMReplicationConnection : Hyper-V failed to test replication settings for specified Replica server
'hv1.(domain).net'. Error: The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE).

In the event log tree you specified is the error:
EVENT ID: 29288Hyper-V failed to test replication settings for specified Replica server 'hv1.(domain).net'. Error: The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE).
So the event logs show the same error (connection was terminated abnormally) as was shown in the screenshot in my original post.  It makes sense that reverse-replication cannot be established when HV1 abruptly terminates the connection from HV2.
The question is WHY it's happening.  To reiterate, both machines are configured for replication from any authenticated server, both are members of the same domain, and all administration is done using the domain (not local) admin account.
    Any ideas?

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 | Database Replication Failing on from Child to Parent

I am having a very urgent issue. The symptom manifested itself as an inability to distribute content (this months software update package) to a secondary site server with DP role.
As we dived into it we see that the replication links are dead with "Link has failed".
Using the replication link analyzer it fixes it for about 1 hour but then fails again. On a closer look I noticed that replication is working from parent to child but not child to parent. Also check out the time stamps:
Parent Last Send and Child Recv are both up to date, only Parent Last Recv and Child Last Send are failing.
    What do I do?
None of the logs seem to tell me much other than the statesys.log on both secondaries are pumping the following line over and over again almost to fast for cmtrace to keep up with:
    total chucks loaded (0)
Oh final thought, we did restore a full offline disk image of the primary server a month ago due to a hardware server failure. The snapshot of the disk luckily was taken only 30 mins before the hardware failure but I suppose there could be something related
to that although the server seems to have been fine these last few weeks until now.

Nothing I can see right now, I started the link up again, ill try to check the log right at the time the link fails this time. Here is a snip of what the child rcmctrl.log looks like:

  • Replication failed only on one database.

    Hi ,
We are using transactional replication between 2012 and 2088 R2 servers.Replication is configured on several databases but it is failing  with below error only on one Database.
Replication-Replication Distribution Subsystem: agent I'job name' failed. The distribution agent failed to create temporary files in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\COM' directory. System returned errorcode 5.
Login has write permission on this folder. Are there any other reasons?
Please let me know if there is any solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.

Error code 5 means access is denied.
Try adding the Distribution Agent process account and the SQL Server Agent service account to the COM directory and grant write permissions.
    According to
Error message when you run the Distribution Agent in SQL Server 2008 or in SQL Server 2008 R2: "The distribution agent failed to create temporary files", grant write permissions for the account that is running the SQL Server Agent service and
ensure the COM folder is excluded from any antivirus scans.
Another approach would be to temporarily grant Full control to Everyone and pare it down from there.

  • Replication failing for BP Organization from ECC to CRM

When a BP type Organization is created in ECC the replication to CRM is failing in the middleware with the message R11 126 u2013 BP Category 2 does not fit in the category 1.
The BP type person replicates correctly and the replication from CRM to ECC is good for both types, Organization and person.
When I debug the middleware I can see where it is failing: in the function FM BUPA_CREATE_FROM_DATA line 655. The FM is comparing the person category with organization category which ends in program error.
Is there any table in CRM to map the BP types? Or is this an SAP error?
    Thank you,
    Aubrey Smith

    Hi Aubrey
Please refer to Note 1311313. It may assist with your issue.
    Hope it helps
If not I suspect you may need to log an OSS with SAP.
    Regards
    Arden
