Replication for Sharepoint SQL Server
First, let me explain the situation: My company is planing to use Sharepoint for intranet and as replacement of file servers, so there will be lot of data inside the SQL databases. I'm the DBA and so I'm responsible to implement and administrator the SQL
servers of the Sharepoint. There is one SQL servers (for Sharepoint and content) and my task will later be to implement a transactional replication to a second SQL server. We're using Sharepoint 2013 and SQL 2012 standard edtion.
Because I never implemented a replication before, I've tested this out in a test environment today. I was surprised there was so much drawbacks or at least obstacles:
* Every database need a own publication
* New tables will not be include in existing publications
* Only tables with a primary key can be replicated
So I've asked the sharepoint administrator if there are later many additional database once sharepoint is installed, because I've to create a new publicatoin for each database. The answer was, only a new 'sharepoint site collection' would need an additional
database and this would occur seldom. Sounds great. So I also asked if there are newly created tables during operation, because I would have the add those articles to existing publications. The sharepoint administrator wasn't sure about this. So:
1. Question: Are there many additional tables creating after sharepoint was installed during normal operation by users?
Since tables without primary key can't be replicated:
2. Question: Have all sharepoint tables a primary key?
(For those who like advice me to implement mirroring or AlwaysOn AvailbilityGroups instead, our company has already discussed this point and decided to use replication)
Thanks
Hello,
Sharepoint does not support transactional replication, but it supports SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Mirroring.

There some products that provide this functionality too:

Activate Reporting Services on My Sharepoint SQL SERVER Databse ?
Hi,
I have small sharepoint farm (1 FW and 1 SQL).
I can't find if it's recommended or not to activate and use Reporting Services on the SHAREPOINT SQL SERVER Instance ?
I wouldn't want to decrease my global farm performance.
Thank you for helping.
RegardsSSRS integrated must run on a server that has SharePoint installed and joined to the farm. That will have a significant impact on the SQL Database Engine server from a memory contention and CPU utilization perspective.

Using DB Adapter for MS SQL Server 2005 SP in OSB 11g.
Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a DB Adapter for MS SQL Server Stored Procedure in JDeveloper and export the Adapter file to OSB 11g. I have Created the Adapter and imported it into OSB 11g successfully. Created the Datasource and Connection pool also in console.
The problem is while trying to execute the created business Service, I am getting the error as below,

I believe NVARCHAR is an unsupported type...
The following document lists the supported data types for SQL Server stored procedures and functions... NVARCHAR is not in the list... :-(

Cannot establish connection - JDBC driver for MS SQL server 2000
Hi,
We are facing problems in connecting to SQL server 2000.
We have installed the latest version of the driver from followin link and following
https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/msplatforms > SQL Server > JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)
We have given the following entries in our communication channel:
JDBC Driver : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Connection: jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserver IP>:1433;databaseName=production_info
Please let us know the procedure to find if the JDBC driver for SQL 2000 is installed from our SAP XI.
ERROR DETAILS:
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserverIP>:1433;databaseName=production_info' using the JDBC driver 'com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserverIP>:1433;databaseName=production_info': SAPClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver'
Please help.
Regards,
RehanHi Chris,
We have used the same because we have downloaded the driver from following location
https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/msplatforms ; > SQL Server > JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)
I have tried with both "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"; and "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver";, but still I am facing the same error.
Service market place has given the driver as "JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)", is there a way to find out if it is for 2000 or 2005?
Thanks for your reply.

Need help trouble shooting Database Gateway for MS SQL Server setup, getting ORA-28546 error
Dear All,
I am trying to setup Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server(I don't have admin access to the MS SQL Server). When I try to test the dblink connection, I get the following error.
I issued select * from dual@xyz;
ORA-28546: connection initialization failed, probable Net8 admin error

Obviously, I would like to get this setup to work, but I also have couple other questions regarding this setup.
1. When installing the gateway, it asks to run the root.sh script. the root.sh script as for the following.
Enter the full pathname of the local bin directory: [/usr/local/bin]:
The file "dbhome" already exists in /usr/local/bin. Overwrite it? (y/n)
[n]: n
The file "oraenv" already exists in /usr/local/bin. Overwrite it? (y/n)
[n]: n
The file "coraenv" already exists in /usr/local/bin. Overwrite it? (y/n)
[n]: n
is the above answer correct?
Thanks for reading.Dear Klaus,

Hi,
I was having the same problem and to solve it u have to point your classpath to
mssqlserver4v65.jar in the lib directory of your wl installation, in my case i
did:
set classpath=%classpath%;%WL_HOME%\lib\mssqlserver4v65.jar
I hope it helps.

Connection problem in Crystal Reports for Eclipse(SQL Server Express 2008)
I tried to connect into a local SQL Server Express 2008 database in Crystal Reports for Eclipse (CR4E), but always got the Ping failed message(TCP/IP connection failed) even I tests completed successfully using my Window XP Adminstrators Tools (SQL Server ODBC Data Source Test). I can connect successfully to a remote network Oracle database in CR4E. I would like to know
that is there any one who connect SQL Server Express 2008 local database successfully in CR4E?Don,
Thanks for your suggestions. I will follow your instruction to connect to SQL Server Express 2008 database latelly. I can connect successfully with different Oracle databases (10g) in CR4E. I will try to connect MySQL database and Postgres database in CR4E to see if they can be successful or not. My project involves international entities with emphsizing in using OPEN SOURCE softwares (which means FREE - no license fees) in .NET platform for Oracle, SQL Server Express, MySQL and Postgres database servers. I am responsible for reports generation. I hope that CR4E can be connected successfully to SQL Server Express 2008 database server, otherwise I have to use JFreeReport/JFreeChart tools to do reports generation . -
Full Database Backup in DB13 for MS SQL Server databases
Hello,
We have some SAP systems using the MS SQL Server database. I want to know if it is possible to setup the Full Database Backup option in transaction DB13 to store the files in a hard disk space.
I already did this type of configuration in SAP systems in Oracle databases and for this I used the init<SID>.sap where we can put all the configuration, for instance the disk path where we want to save the backup files! But for MS SQL Server databases, in DB13, I don´t know how to do that, when I add the "Full Database Backup" option in DB13, this show me some options but only for tape, but I don´t want to store the backup files in tapes, I want to store/save the files on the server disk itself or else to an external disk but I don´t see where I can set this way of storage!
This is what you see in DB13 (when using a MS SQL Server database) in "Full Database Backup" and as you see I only have options for TAPE not for a disk or other type of storage! How can I do that? (if that is possible):
Can you help me please?
Kind regards,
samid raifHello Raja
Sorry for the delay of my answer! Many thanks for that tip, it helps a lot and it solve the last error/problem that I reported here, in fact, the problem was we had named the device with two words containing a space. So we removed that space from the backup device (in SQL management studio) with one word only and the job runs successfully without any errors!
It works in Development and Quality systems but in our Production system (AM1) the Full backup option in DB13 stopped with the following error, in fact the error is on verification of backup, it means that the Full backup finished with success, but when it does the backup verification, the job in DB13 stops with an error, the following one:

we have Oracle Database Appliance.
OS: Oracle Linux 5 x64

Communication with remote DB is OK, but CPU load is too high without any reason. CPU waste, useless HW load, energy waste.
Enterprise manager console:

Please can you help me how to solve this issue? How can I restart these procesess? Any ideas?
Thank you

Oracle Transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server
Hello,
I successfully installed the Oracle transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server for Oracle 8i. Now I am doing the same for Oracle 9i.
Does anyone know how to 'create a new gateway service' on 9i???
This is how you would do that on 8i on the Windows box...
1) At the MS-DOS prompt, enter:
> set GTW_EXE=TG4MSQL.EXE
2) To create a new gateway service name, enter:
> GTWSRV73 sid -CREATE | MORE
-where sid is the gateway sid.
Does anyone know how to do those steps for 9i Oracle Transparent Gateway?
Thank you.Hi
I need oracle Tranparent Gateway for Microsoft Sqlserver (tg4msql) for oracle 10g on linux x86-64 bit. I have searched for it on otn.oracle.com and on edelivery.oracle.com. But couldn't find it.
Can any one help me in this regard.
Regards
