Replication of a data source from multiple logical systems

Hi experts,
In our ERP wie run many different clients with correspondong logical systems. When I'm changing a data source in ERP, then I have to replicate this datasource for each single logical system.
My question :
Is there a way to replicate a data source for all logical systems belonging to an infos source at once ?
We are on BW 3.5 SP19.

Hi,
Go for the generic data sources.
1. first create the view on all the tables.
        You can only use join conditions but not Union.
        you can specify one table as primary table based on your requirement.
2. build the data source based on the view.

Data from multiple data sources which are logically related and technicall have the same key can be combined into single record.
For example, if you have Sales order item and sales order item status .
These both have the same key - sales order and item and are logically related.
The Sales order item - provides information on Sales order item - material , price, quantity, plant etc.
The item status - povides information on delivery status, billing status, rejection status....
These are two different data sources 2LIS_!1_VAITM ad 2LIS_11_VASTI.
In case you have few master data attributes coming from different systems ie tow data sources in different systems say completely defines your master data. Then you could use a DSO or infoobject to combine the records.
If you want to see aggregated data you use a cube.
ie say you want to analyzae the customer revenue on a particular material and a particular project.
The project details would come from Project syatem and Sales details fom sales flow.
The data is then combined in the DSO with key cutomer and sales area say.
Then it is aggregated at cube level...by not using sales order in the cube model...so all sales order of the same customer would add while loading the cube.. to give direct customer spend values for your sales area at aggregated level.

Replication of Data Source from APO to External BI

I want to create a data source on DP/SNP planning area & replicate it directly to External BI instead of APO BW. Is it possible to replicate data source from APO to directly External BI? If yes then How?

Hi Sujay,
If you would like to replciate a particular Data source then Go to BW -> TCode RSDS ( Data source Repository)
Data Source = ( specify which you would like to replciate )
Source system = Specify source system name.
Go to Menu option Data Source -> Replicate Data source or you can use CTRL + SHIFT + F2
These steps will replicate only the data source which you would like to replicate.

Replication of generic Data Sources

Dear experts,
I am asked to create a generic data source in the Application component Specific to a set of Generic data sources.
To meet this in RSA6 I have created a node with XXXXX name of Appication component.
Now I have created my generic data source in RSO2 with this XXXXX Application Component and the data source creation is successful in the source system ( So, In RSA6 I see my data source under my newly created Apllication Component XXXXX)
Now when I try to replicate my data source in the BW system:
I do not see my ApPlication Component in my source system tab.
Also I tried replication of the data source at source system level.
I am unable to replicate my data source.
Is there anything else I need to do to see my XXXXX application component in the BW system and to replicate my data source.
Could anyone please help me how can I do my replication.

Hi,
you did't specify which source your extractiing the data from, you should find it inthe specified folder, for example if your SD data you could see it in the underlying folder of SD, check it once under SD, MM components or still if you do not find , refreash the window, come back to DWB(RSA1) and then go to specified folder/Appl Comp,
when you replicate datasource some times you could't see it untill unless you refreash the window, if you still do'nt find it replicate again the datasource
here is the step for replication
1.first install wat r the cubes u want.
2.go to data source.right clik the data source.
3. it will show replicate the data.
4. replicate the data.
5. before u use rsa3 and check whether that data source having the data or not.
6.use rsa5 and check the data source activated or not.
7.create infopackage.
8. upload the data.

Error in generating data source from planning area

Hi experts! I have an error while making data source from planning area:
after the screen when i fill in the data source name (Window name: Generate export data source) i have the SYNTAX_ERROR Message:
Syntax error in program /sapapo/cl_im_extract_ex======cp
the main reason: the type /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD is unknown
what you can suggest to solve this problem?

Dear Andrey Kudriavzev,
The reason is the program is trying to use the datatype '/BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD' which does not exist in the system.
Go SE11 to cross check if it exists. Check dataelement radiobutton -> enter /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD -> Choose display option. You would need to create this datatype in the system. I feel there must some OSS Note related to this.
Search for an OSS Note. Raise one if you cannot find the relevant notes.

Share Data Source between multiple report projects in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services

I have a reports solution in 2012 which contains multiple report projects one each for target deployment folder and we use TFS 2012 for report deployment.
We have a template project which has a bunch of template reports and all the datasources used in different reports.
When I develop a report, I cannot "Preview" in TFS but, for deploy this used to work fine util the reports solution was in TFS 2010 & Visual Studio 2008 R2. Since we moved to TFS 2012 & SSRS 2012 not being able to deploy till I create all
the necessary datasources for each project and now all the developers complaining that they cannot develop reports in TFS itself as they cannot preview (this problem was existing previously) and now not being able to deploy as it errors for each report "Could
not find specified rds file". I tried messing around with the .rptproj file DataSources tag that did not help either by modifying it like below.

<ProjectItem>
<Name>DB.rds</Name>
<FullPath>Template\Data Source\DB.rds</FullPath>
</ProjectItem>
</DataSources>
Is there a way I could share a Data Source between multiple projects in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services?

Hi ione721,
According to your description, you want to create a shared data source which works for multiple projects. Right?
In Reporting Services, A shared data source is a set of data source connection properties that can be referenced by multiple reports, models, and data-driven subscriptions that run on a Reporting Services report server. It must be within one project.
We can't specify one data source working for multple projects. In this scenario, we suggest you put those reports into one project. Otherwise you can only create one data source for each project.

Transporting migrated data sources from BID to BIQ

All,
I have a 3.x data source which I have migrated to 7.x. Now I want to transport this from BI-D to BI-Q. when I replicate the data source in BI-Q this is likely to be 3.x data source. Will it be overwritten when I transport the data source from BI-D to BI-Q. Is there any thing that I will have to do before moving the transport. Please advise

If you transport the DataSource on R3/ECC from development to QA that's connected to your BW QA, and then transport the DataSource from your BW development to QA environment, there is no need to replicate the DataSource. It may, however, come into your BW QA environment in a deactivated state. If that happens, just activate it in the BW QA environment using the SAP delivered ABAP program RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL.

Yes you need to create one DSN connection and you have to use DSN name and login details at the time of building/loading of the outline.
Create DSN
Goto Administrative tools -> DataSources (ODBC) and add the DSN name and specify the Server name of SQL and login details and database.
goto data prep editor and click on File Menu and Click on Open SQL option Next window opens.
There you have to enter the details of the DSN connection and SQL query to build/load.

Access odbc data sources from PL/SQL

Dear All,
I would like to know is there any way where i could access odbc data sources from pl/sql (i.e i would like to insert, update records into MSAccess table from pl/sql procedures, triggers). Would appreciate any help regarding this.

The only way I know of how is to write and external function library and use that to access ODBC datasource ...if someone else knows something else I would be interesting in hearing about that also.

Need a Data Integration for multiple ERP systems

We are doing some research into a data integration layer to our BW 7.3/BOBJ 4.0 from multiple ERPs. Of course we are looking at Data Services and Information Steward in the BOBJ suite but just looking for anybody's recommendations on the topic.
What technology platform do you use to do the extract, transform, load processes from multiple backend sources into BW? Any you would advise us to avoid?

The answer depends on multiple factors.
Some pointers:
Volume and growth of db in scope planning (Federation vs replication )
If data federation is where you want to move data services / BO tools will be ideal
If your data is coming from multiple ERP systems you can utilize there delta queue to load data via data services (in case of SAP)
Use native DB connect/UD connect functionalities in BW as with BW 7.3 its delta capable.
Moving to BW 7.4 you will have SDA to solve that problem of integration to Non - SAP data into your EDW landscape
These are pointers but I would say talk to enterprise architects and look into the foresight of wheyare you want to move your EDW platform.
