Replication of datasources

Hi
I am replicating datsources to BW from r/3. While replicating a popup comes having four options:
1. datsources
2. 3.x datasources
3. this and following 29 as datasouce
4. this and following 29 as 3.x datasouce
So can u tell me what have to be chosen and what are the significance of chosing this. Tell me the impact of chosing this also.
for some of datasources i have already chosen "Datasource". If i want to change this as "3.x datasource" then wht need to be done?

Replication of DataSource

Hi,
i have issue with the replication of DataSource 0CUST_SALES_ATTR.
when i replicate the datasource it is shown as replicated, but the
structure for the new fields are not getting copyed at the Bi side.
new Enhanced fild is found at r3 side fot this data source, and data
for this new field is found for this data source at r3 side in rsa3,
but when i am doing the replication at BI side the new structure
is not replicated .
Please sugest in this regard

Hi,
In ECC
Goto RSA6 in ECC and expand the SAP R/3 and find your datasource and then place cursor on that and click on Chnage Icon it will takes to you to RSO2 screen internally and if teh fileds are check with HIDE/FIeld only , then UN CHACK it and then Generate it and check in RSA3 for Data.
Then goto BW and then Replicate the DS and see it, if you didn't find then Right click on DS in BW and Change and then Activate it.

Mass Replication of Datasources in BW 3.5 system !!

Hi Experts,
Actually I want to do a mass replication of datasources in BW 3.5 system. I have searched through the programs and FM, but could not find any. Please provide me some details of how to write a program in ABAP to replicate and activate a lot of data sources and not doing it manually.

Hi....
You can do as Prashant had told.......if you have only 70 datasource in your system.......
But if there are many datasources....then also you can do that..but the thing is it will replicate all the datasources ......not only those 70.......
In that case you can do one thing........create obe Z table where you maintainr all the 70 datasources and the logistic system name for each datasource......
Then create a program in the following way ......
Suppose the tabke that you have created is ZDATASOURCE
T_ZDATASOURCE TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ZDATASOURCE,
W_ZDATASOURCE like LINE OF T_ZDATASOURCE.
Select * from ZDATASOURCE into table T_ZDATASOURCE.
LOOP AT T_ZDATASOURCE ASSIGNING W_ZDATASOURCE .
Here call the function RSDS_DATASOURCE_REPLICATE with all the parameters.
In the parameter pass the datasource name and the logistic system name as
W_ZDATASOURCE - DS (Suppose the technical name of the datasource you have given as DS)
W_ZDATASOURCE -LOGSYS (Suppose the technical name of the logistic system you have given as LOGSYS )
Endloop.

Replication of datasource in BI

From what i have understood , after creating a datasource in source system and after selecting the required fields from
the source system, it has to be communicated to the BI.
This is done by replicating in the BI system
My question is what exactly happens after replication
IF i have selected ten fields from the source system, will infoobjects looking similar to those fields will be generated in BI system

Replication of datasources causes other datasources to deactivate

Hi,
Noticed the following behaviour in 2004s which again is not good news:-
replicating datasources in the datasources causes other datasources to deactivate.

I am not sure if I copy you properly however ,I put my thoughts and analysis below-
Reason and Prerequisites
When you activate a DataSource (R3TR RSDS), the system generates the Dictionary objects, the transfer structure in the BI system and the source system, and the Persistent Staging Area. This is a fixed part of the object generation that ensures that data can subsequently be loaded to the Persistent Staging Area. A transformation does not have to exist for this purpose.
This type of process was not used for 3.x DataSources: With 3.x objects, data could only be loaded after a 3.x DataSource (R3TR ISFS) had been mapped to a 3.x InfoSource and the relevant transfer rule had been activated. This means that this type of process also required an explicit and manual step to generate the Dictionary objects.
If all replicated DataSources (R3TR RSDS) were activated automatically, the system would generate a large number of mostly superfluous Dictionary objects. In addition, the replication would take several hours, for example, when you connect a new source system with several hundreds of DataSources.
Solution
Before loading data or creating a transformation, manually activate the DataSources (R3TR RSDS) that are really required.

Datasource replication

Hi friends,
I have a generic datasource which i extended in the R/3 Dev side and have put all the required objects in a request and the request was successfully transported to the R/3 QA. Now i did a replication of datasource in BW dev and everything was fine in dev. How can i transfer the datasource changes from BW dev to QA dev? In my QA dev i still see the old data source. In order to refresh this, what r the steps i need to perform?

Hi Sriram,
Try this
RSA1-> Transport Connection -> SAP Transport
Under this folder you will find Object Types, Select Object types
Now in the adjacent column you will find all the Object types in the system. Expand ISFS (3.X Datasource) and select the Datasource that you want to replicate. This will be collected in the collected objects section.
Here you can select the Datasource , right click Display Object Directory Entry, Change Package etc.
Change and save it in a transport.

Hi Neel,
when you install (transaction RSA5) a datasource in DEV you have to put this activation in a change request. The same for Logistic Cockpit delta activation (LBWE).
So, to have the same situation (activated datasource and delta) in QA and PRD.
On the other hand, QA and PRD are not open for any modification, therefore a direct activation is not allowed.
Clearly, when you import your change request (with the related activation), THEN you have to do a replication of the source system in BW (in order to let BW see the updated situation).
Step by step for LO:
activate the datasource in RSA5.
adjust it in RSA6.
activate delta (green light in LBWE)
transport CRs in the other environment (and take care of everything in this case...)
replicate datasource in BW
(remember that setup job and delta init and collective job have to be executed in every environment

MD export datasource not shown in MySelf (BW3.5) datasources

A user-defined (simple) InfoObject (NUMC-7), characteristic, has selected 'With Master Data', but NO texts.
It also does not have any attributes, compound characteristics or hierarchies.
So, it is a simple 'table of codes' without any text.
The object is defined as an InfoProvider and the InfoArea is set (and exists). We can see it there.
Also, the 'Characterist. is export datasource' is selected.
The M- and P-tables are generated, the object is activated successfully.
After (several) replication of datasources with the 'MySelf' system and activating the structures (ABAP program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL which we always use after replication), we can not see the generated export datasource (default: "8<objectname>M") in the list when executing RSA3.
Who can help us with this problem?
Did we do something wrong? Or is it not possible because there are no attributes (other objects that have real attributes and no texts are visible in RSA3)?
We need to distribute the values of this object to other BW-systems (which therefore require this export datasource...).

Hi Dinesh,
Yes I did, but as described in the initial description: the InfoObject is visible within the InfoArea defined in the InfoObject (so not in the Unassigned), that is not the problem. Activating an object that is defined as 'export datasource' should, according to my knowledge, be visisble in the RSA3-list.

Change or Activate Emulated 3.X Datasource

I have added one new field in the source and generated export datasource successfully to BI7.0 system.I could replicate the datasource in target correctly but iam unable to activate the datasource as activate option is disbled ....I did tried finding OSS notes but i haven't find any ..,so could u pls help me in resolving this issue .

Replicating the datasource

Hello SAP Gurus,
I have a question on Replication of Datasources.
If I create a new datasource in R/3 Development system and replciate the datasource in BW
and create an Infosource and collect the objects of BW (infosource Communication structure ,Transfer structure, Cube) and R/3 (Data source).
and I imported R/3 datasource to Next environment (QA) ....and without replicating the datasource in BW.
I want to transport the BW objects without replicating the datasource.
Is it Possible?

what ever it may be the verrsion you need to replicate the DS. when ever you make any chnages(any technical changes to the DS i.e. adding new fields, changing the technical attributes of the field etc) or create new DS or install BC DS, you need to replicate in BW. When ever you replicate the DS, it copy logical view of DS in SAP BW(Means Meta data will Transfered). without replicating it's not pissible setup data flow.

Error Replicating DataSource to BW .....Urgent

Hi All,
During replication of DataSource from our CRM to BW we selected Replicate as DataSource somewhere and all the datasources except Hierarchies are save as DataSources and not as DataDource 3.x. Can someone tell me how to change all DS to DS 3.x, there are more then 600 of these so individually its impossible for us to do.

Replicating Datasource in BI7 when there is data in PSA

Hi all,
We are working on CRM opportunities item data with 0CRM_OPPT_I datasource. There is a change is the mapping in BWA1 and we are moving the datasource to quality. Now as of BI7 if we replicate the datasource in quality the existing datasource in BI will become inactive and we need to activate the datasource once again. If the datasource contain PSA data in quality, how do we activate the datasource without impacting the existing data. Is there any different approach in BI7 with which we have to handle the replication of datasource and activation of datasource while moving across quality and production systems.

I want to schedule replicate one DataSource just after automatically transporting today in the evening. Does anybody know the job (SE38) which is used for replicate DataSource so that I can execute this in the background later in the day?

Appended field is not available in BI

Hi Gurus,
I have appended a field in the datasource, removed a hidden tick so that it will be available in BI system but after replication of datasource I still could not get this field in transfer structure. When I was checking I found that in display datasource window under "Fields" tab for that particular field "Transfer" column is uncheck, due to which the field is not available.
Now my concern is that how should I make this available in BI.

I am on BI 3.5 system.
and I didn't mean that my datasource is not in ROOSFIELD table, it is there but what you are saying is not applicable in my case. in ROOSFIELD, for the appended field the OLPTSrc version is "A" and Field Attribute is "P" which is what the ABAP program stated above will do and I was very well aware of the program.
My, ROOSFIELD output is,
2LIS_XX_XXX A ZZXXXX P
This field was not hidden earlier as well, i could get this field for selection in RSA3 and even in infopackage also.
But, the only concern is what I posted in my 1st question.
How will I get that checkbox ticked?

Transport Requests

Hello Experts,
I am facing couple of issues in transporting the requests from Dev to QA environment.
Firstly when trying to replicate DS in QA, DS is replicated but it is in MOdified status (and Cannot activate because QA system is non modifiable status) . I just right click on the appln component & then replicated metadata . Is ther any step I'm missing or can be taken so that DS can be activated ?
Secondly when trying to move transport request for transformation between InfoSource & DS getting this error message "Message no. R7501"
"Start of the after-import method RS_TRFN_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) TRFN (Activation Mode)"
Also along with this message also getting message :-
Source RSDS ZQMNOTIFICATION_STATUS2 SD2CLNTXXX does not exist
Above mentioned source SD2CLNTXXX is dev DS and transport req is only for transformation .

I guess, this is due to different versions of support packs in DEV & QA.
After replication of Datasource, now u have to transport the same datasource from BI Dev to BI QA. So, that it should overwrite the replicated one.

Since the datasource is not actively present in QA, thats why transportion of transformation throwing errors. to transport Transformation, Datasource & InfoSource must present in QA
Now, in BI Dev u should collect Datasource, Infosource, transformation and transport them to QA.
