Reply all when CC List Truncated

Hi,
Some of us in our organization noticed that if there are more than 32 cc: addresses on a message received, that a reply-to-all message would only go to those 32 addresses (plus whomever was in the To: fields), and none of the original recipients beyond those 32 would receive the reply.  Is this officially the case, and if so, is there a way around it?
Thanks in advance.

I also have this problem.  I see your post is from 2008, so obviously this is something that has not been resolved or answered to.....  Very frustrating.

  • Reply/Reply All distinction not working

When I do a Reply instead of a Reply All when responding to a message from a mail list or listserv Mail responds to the list or listserv address instead of the address of the individual who sent the message to whom I want to respond privately.
Is there some way I can get this to work?
    Thanks,
    Eric Weir

The issue is caused by the list software setting the Reply-To: header field in the email. I run a lot of lists, and never enable the list software forcing replies back to the list, as it causes no end of accidental replies that were intended to be private landing on lists. I subscribe to some lists where people insist on setting this, though. Where possible I bring the emails in via systems where I can alter the emails before they get into a mailbox for retrieval, but that's not always possible.
So like you, I'd like a solution to this. Mail.app provides the necessary hook, insofar as mail rules allow the running of a script as part of the action upon match. I am looking for someone who has the skill with applescript to write a script that will remove the Reply-To: header from a message. If such were written, then using it from a rule would solve your problem (and mine too).

Hey, go to your <Messages>, then hit on <Menu> at tight top corner, then go to <Settings>, then go to <Multimedia messages (MMS)> then un-check where it says <Group Conversations>

  • How can I do a reply all? I have no reply all button.

I have no reply all button option. Thanks!

First question is where are you looking for one or expecting it to be?
If you right click a message subject line it will be in that menu.
If you are looking for it on the Mail Toolbar and it is not there, right click the toolbar and select Customize. Find the Reply All button and drag it on to the Mail Toolbar.
If you are looking for it on the Message Pane or a Tab header you will not find one. What you will find is a Smart Reply button that shows as Reply when there is only one addressee on the message and a Reply All when there is more than one.

  • No reply all option

I receive group messages from my family and I would like to do a reply all to send back to everyone that the text message was sent to.  I have a reply option but no reply all.  I don't text a lot but I think this option used to be available to me but I don't remember for sure.  Looking online at the manual it shows I should have this option available but I do not.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Apple mail auto cc's myself when I reply all after installing ML, how do I stop this annoyance?

I installed Mountain Lion and when I use apple mail now and reply all, it automatically will put my email address in the CC field.
My preferences have this turned off, but it still does this....
Any idea what to do to stop this annoyance ?
    Help me!

I think I'm having an "a-ha!" moment thanks to doug38.
But it needs a bit of clarification: You need to edit your iCloud account.
    Go to PREFERENCES.
    Choose ACCOUNTS
    Click on your iCLOUD account.
There is a dropdwon menu for Aliases- Choose CUSTOM.
Enter your preferred reply-from email address.
Note how that address should slide to the top of the account lists.
If Doug38 is right, that should do the trick!

  • When I "Reply All" on an email, it gets sent to me also

In any email program I have ever used, including the iPhone and Apple Mail on the Mac, when you click "Reply All", it takes your own email out of the reply list so you don't get a copy of the email you are replying to. But my iPad isn't doing that. Unless I manually take my address out, when I do a "Reply All", it includes my name in the reply and I get the email in both my Sent folder and Inbox.
I've looked for an option to disable this, but can't find one. Frankly, I've never seen an option to turn this kind of thing off and on. It's basically just doesn't happen and you can't change. But with my iPad, it basically does happen and it appears you can't change that behavior.
Any clues? If this is the way it works, this has to be a bug and not a design flaw. Thanks.

The company uses one email address as our default name for Exchange accounts, but people can send me emails with slightly different aliases: [email protected], [email protected] etc. If I reply to emails that reached me through one of these aliases, Mail does not recognize that all these addresses are actually mine. Therefore, when I "reply all", I end up on the CC list. I wonder if you have a similar problem.
I am not sure how that works on an iPad, but on Mac Mail program, I can add additional email addresses in Preferences -> Accounts -> "Account Information" tab -> "Email Address" entry, separated by one comma and a space each. This prevents Mail from replying to myself.

  • How to copy UserProperties from origin message when doing reply, forward or reply all?

is there a way to auto copy the UserProperties from origin message when doing reply, forward, reply all or any other operation? (if exists)

And to handle the Reply / Forward / ReplyAll events, you need to track the selected items (use Explorer.SelectionChange event) and messages displayed in inspectors (use Application.Inspectors.NewInspector event). Keep in mind that more than one message
can be selected or displayed at a time, so you will need to dynamically track the list of items that can fire the Reply / Forward / ReplyAll events.

  • When replying to a distribution list, my reply shows as empty to me

Someone sends an email to a distribution list of which I am apart of.
I reply (reply-all, because I think the person who sent the original is not on the list)
In the conversation view of my inbox, my reply shows as blank/empty (subject and to/from shows up, but message is empty)
My reply looks fine when viewing in my sent folder
Others on the distribution list tell me that my reply has the full text in the message body.
Quiting the Mail app and then launching it again seems to fix the conversation view (my reply shows up with text in the message)
Is there an easy fix for this? Or am I looking at a bug?

OK, so if a message contains images as part of signatures, it wouldn't necessarily be correct to delete them. So we're left with doing it on a case by case basis.
People who don't like graphic content use plain text; this would automatically dispose of inline graphics content (though not true attachments).

  • N Mail, when using "reply all" why does Mail automatically include my email address in the cc line? Whey would I want to include my email address in an email I am sending.  Anybody have any idea how to stop this?

Automatically cc myself is not checked.  I did find out that if you have multiple email address that all of them need to be associated with "My Contact" tab.  Thanks

  • Mail replying to me when using reply all

When I receive an email from multiple people and hit the "reply all" button to respond, Mail includes my email in the response. It didn't used to do this. How can I make it stop?

I'm having the very same problem. Mine is with an exchange account - NOT a Gmail account.

  • How do I stop Mail from cc'ing me when I "reply all"?

The latest update (10.9.2) has fixed nearly all of the Exchange server connection issues reported in Mail by quite a few people. Now I can send attachments over 200 kb. Wow! What a step forward in personal computing that is! However, there is still one annoying little glitch. When I "reply all", I receive a copy of the email reply. I don't want to get a copy of the email I just sent; that's why Sent Mail exists. In Preferences, you can check a box asking to be cc'd on everything, but I have not checked that box. Nevertheless...
    Apple, please fix this.

Not really. I have reduced the annoyance factor a bit by setting up a Rule that puts every email copied to me if it is from me into the trash. At least now I don't see them in my Inbox. I have a feeling, though, that this is related to something about the Exchange server at my work, because my Gmail account doesn't do this. So it is probably not a Mac Mail problem so much as a Microsoft Exchange problem, if that's any comfort.

  • HT2905 I have lost all my play lists from my itumes library, and all of a sudden i have 2/3/4 duplicates of the same song. when i look at when they were added it says all added on 11th March 2013! i added most of them years ago. please help?!!

All my plat list have vanished, and all of my library has been duplicated and triplicated and some have 4 copies. i looked to try and delete the copied ones and tried to delete by putting on when they had been added. the date came up 11th march 2013 for ALL of the songs!. my library is at least 4 years old, and i constantly add songs. so why would it come up that date? and why have all my play list dissapeared?(I think also on that date)  please help?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.
Reverting to an earlier version of your library may clean up the duplicates issue along with restoring the original date added values. If you still have real duplicates I have a tool that might be able to help...

This can be done easily with ethernet.
    Please follow the instructions strictly.
To make it easier I want you to do this overnight so you can turn off all your current connection to the internet.
Just go to the airport fan in to the top right and turn airport off.
Get ethernet cable and connect the laptop to the TC lan port.. ie <-> ones.
Press and hold the reset on the TC for about 10sec. until the front led flashes rapidly.
Open the airport utility.. go to manual setup and change the wireless to off. (so other people around you cannot join your network of one).
Ignore all the errors.. they won't stop the backup working.
Go to the TM and reselect the backup target disk as the TC.
It should start after 2min and run through to completion.
That is it.. for a backup of many GB it might take a few hours.. so make sure the laptop has power plugged in and the sleep is off.. (on early ones I think this is needed but I am a late arrival to the scene).. sleep doesn't affect later OS.

As expected, when I "Reply All" to emails sent to me, I'm not included in the CC.  I assume this is the scenario that the OP is referencing, except that he's included in the CC.  Perhaps he can explain in more detail.
When I reply all, I AM included, but it disappears if I tap the CC/BCC field.
