Reply arrow in message status missing

When you reply a message an arrow appears next to the message indicating mail has not only been read, but replied and if you click that arrow you can view your response.
This usually works fine, but I wrote an e-mail yesterday responding to one I had received and the message was sent, recipient got it, but the "reply arrow" never showed up. Message appears as read, but not as replied and I can not link to the response from the original message.
Is there a way of "linking" two messages (Inbox and Sent) to tell Mail, this e-mail is the response for this other e-mail?
Thanx in advanced!

I'm wondering if this problem isn't related to the number of messages within a single thread. In Classic Mode, as you suggested, the "replied" arrows appear for individual messages within the same conversation among many people. But in the Lion 10.8.5 OS that groups messages by conversation, then subgroups them by date received, only the most recently received message appears in the column for received messages. If you'd replied to other messages within the same conversation but not to the latest one, then no "replied" arrow appears.
Then I made a key discovery: the grey rectangle displaying the number of messages within that thread is clickable. I had always presumed that the tiny, white arrow pointing to the right was only indicating the right-most column as containing the body of the message. But clicking on the grey rectangle releases a drop-down list of all the names of the participants in the thread. The "replied" arrows display next to each sender's name on that list, if you've sent a reply to their email.
For me, problem solved. I hope that helps someone.

  • Missing icons (ex: replied arrow) in Message Status when I reply from an iPhone

Hi guys. My problem is very simple.
I've a Macbook Air with Mavericks installed, plus an iPhone and an iPad.
As email account I use Gmail in IMAP mode.
When I reply to an email from iPhone, I do not see the replied icon (arrow) in message status of Mail in Mavericks.
    In iPad all works fine.
I've experienced this issue after upgrade my OS to Mavericks.
And for an "intensive email manager" like me is very boring-problem because I've to remember if you're already replied/formarded to an email or not
    Can anyone help me?
    Best,
    Federico.

    Glad it helped.
Its one of those options that you dont need much but comes in handy sometimes. The only problem is they hide it away so good you forget where it is

  • Problem replying to emails: Message status "message included an invalid address"

Blackberry Curve 8310 on BIS with OWA on in-house Exchange 2003 (sbs 2003).
We have problem sending BIS email since last few days. The problem usually comes with replies to emails and when you open the unsent email (marked with a red cross) the status reads "Message included an invalid address".
    We have tried following so far;
    - Recreating account at Vodafone site
    - Resent service books
    - In Options->Language->Name Display set to ‘First Name Last Name’
    - The ‘Workaround’ from the end of blackberry article KB00035, except the ‘Generate new encryption keys’  part  as our version of Desktop Manager does not seem to have ‘Redirector Settings’ or ‘Email Settings’ options.
We are rather desperate at this point. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks

I have the same exact issue when replying or forwarding from the device. Did you ever find a solution to this?

  • Clicking curved reply arrow in status column produces blank message window

I have a bunch of messages in an On My Mac mailbox for which clicking on the curved reply arrow in the status column opens a blank message window with the wrong title. Something has obviously gone wrong with the links.
Is there a way to fix this?

Let it be recorded here that the solution is to quit Mail, remove the "Envelope Index" file from ~/Library/Mail, relaunch Mail and allow it to import all of your mail. The solutions posted elsewhere about rebuilding the sqlite3 database with the "vacuum" parameter aren't sufficient. I've also discovered that changing the return address associated with a particular mail account will break the links between messages and their replies.

  • Message status (reply or forward arrows) gone

All message status signs - arrows showing that I've replies to or forwarded a message - are gone. I can find my reply or forward message in 'sent', but I should be able to have a overview of this in my message display.

"Is this because I'm using IMAP?"
No. I have an IMAP account (MobileMe) and POP accounts such as gmail, and all show the message reply and forward arrow icons.
It looks as though it is not possible to de-select this message reply column.
The only other suggestion I have is to check your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced tab and see whether you have got the "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" set to "All messages and their attachments".
I was wrong about the flags column in my previous post. Flags only shows the priority I think, and is usually column 1.

  • Message Status Arrow not showing when forwarding or replying to mails.

When you reply to or forward a mail message the message status shows an arrow sign (straight or curved) to indicate that a particular mail has been addressed. When you click on this arrow you are taken to your reply or forwarded message.
I have a problem here: For most mails this works fine. But when I get mails from within my own organization sent through outlook and when I reply to them the arrows in the message status box do not appear. When outlook is not used and the mail is sent directly from the server.... then arrows are displayed on my replying to these mails.
    Presuming:
My id is [email protected] (user of Mac Mail)
My colleagues are [email protected] and [email protected] (both user of Windows Outlook)
    Pl advise

ditto same problem, although in my case its applied to ALL replied / forwarded emails. The replied message never comes up when you click the arrow.

  • TS3276 Apple Mail cannot find replies or forwarded emails -- the little arrows on the left of the list of emails: "Mail was unable to find your reply to the message '[subject of message]'. You may have deleted the message."  I did not delete the message.

Apple Mail cannot find replies or forwarded emails -- the little arrows on the left of the list of emails: "Mail was unable to find your reply to the message '[subject of message]'. You may have deleted the message."  I did not delete the message.  Bug in the program, or am I missing something?

Of course they're in my Sent folder.  Then why can't Apple Mail find them?

  • Exchange: forward/reply on iPad does not update desktop message status

When one replies to or forwards a message through Apple Mail, the original message gets a little symbol (a curvy or straight arrow) to show that it has been replied to or forwarded.
However, when replying through iPad or iPhone on an Exchange account, the message status is not updated on the desktop. Replies sent via iPad on a standard IMAP account correctly update the message status however.
Any ideas why it does not work for Exchange?
    Thanks,
    Simon

Oh well, I answered the question myself. The reason (although since not one other person seems to have noticed this issue except me, nobody will really care ) is that ActiveSync on the iPhone doesn't update the message status on the server.

  • No reply arrow/icon shown after replying to messages in Mail.

I've seen a number of discussions on this topic but I still have not found a solution.
When I respond to a message in one of my Google Apps (IMAP) accounts, sometimes it will show the reply arrow/icon next to the original message but most times it will not. The other weird part is that it only happens in one specific mailbox. Other than my iCloud mailbox, I have three Google Apps IMAP accounts, but this specific mailbox is the only one that has these inconsistencies. The only time i can get the arrow/icon to show is when i'm replying to one of my other two Google Apps accounts. The message always goes through, it's just that it doesn't show the reply arrow/icon and it's very frustrating to have to go to the sent mailbox everytime just to see if i have responded to a message.
I'm running Mac OSX 10.7.2. and Mail version 5.1
I've already tried the following to no avail:
    Rebuild the maillbox
    ReIndex the entire mail.app
Deleted the cache folder in /Library/Caches/Mail
Deleting the mailbox and readding it
Repaired disk permissions and restarted computer

Try actually opening message and clicking reply icon to respond rather than right clicking on message preview.  I have had same bug (which Apple should fix all the same), but have found that if you open the message as its own discreet window, then the "replied to" icon will appear.  Hope this is helpful

  • Sent messages missing 'Message Status' link

I have a problem and am curious if other Apple Mail users are seeing this issue.
I have just migrated from Entourage about a week ago and am confused by how message linking works. While I miss the 'Message History' available in Entourage, I assumed that the links that only appear in the 'Message Status' column in list view of a mailbox would achieve a similar effect in allowing me to connect incoming and outgoing replies in a conversation, no matter what folder they are contained in (Inbox, Sent, or a local folder for sorting).
I see links in messages in my Inbox as well as local folders I have sorted messages into, but for some reason there are no links in my Sent Mail folder. That column is blank, making a chain of conversation break as I try to traverse an email conversation.
Is this normal, or is my database somehow corrupted? If there is corruption can it be repaired?
    Thanks.

It doesn't mean the mapping is correct. If it's sent through the server and you have it set to store sent messages on the server, then the server is coping it to the folder. If it isn't showing in Mail, then it's probably not mapped correctly.
Check the exchange folder in the sidebar. If it isn't expanded, put the cursor over it until show appears. Then click show to expand the folder. If the Sent Items is listed under it, highlight it and choose Use This Mailbox For: Sent under Mailboxes in the menu.

  • Mail w/Exchange 2007 Account- Reply arrow appears, but reply not found

    Hello out there,
I'm really hoping someone can help with this. I have a problem, and it affects all three of the Macs I regularly use: an iMac at home, a MacBook on the road, and and iMac at the office. I have three mail accounts configured identically on all these Macs: Gmail, MobileMe, and an Exchange 2007 account, which uses the Web Services Edition. In short, everything is completely up to date all the way round. Oh, and I also use an iPhone which accesses my Exchange account for mail as well.
My problem is this: I reply to a message in either the MobileMe or the Gmail account and presto, the reply arrow appears and clicking on it instantly reveals my reply. Works as advertised. In the Exchange account, the arrow also appears, and shows up on whichever Mac I happen to be using. However, clicking on the arrow I get a message that says something like "reply not found, you may have deleted it." Which, of course, I haven't. If I search the Exchange account's sent mail folder I find it easily, so I know it's there.
I've tried all kinds of stuff, deleting the plist file, completely removing and reinstalling the Exchange account, rebuilding folders, all to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas? I would really like to resolve this and find it a major flaw, at least as it appears, in Apple's implementation of Exchange server support.
    Thanks in advance!

I have 10.6.3 running on my iMac and the problem still exists - all reply and forward status arrows are basically inert; clicking on they does not show my my reply or forward. I don't believe that there is any preference that affects this behavior so it can only be some kind of bug.

  • Message status "To_Be_Delivered" in MDT !!

    Hi ,
Our messages are stuck with the status "To Be Delivered" in MDT. Integration engine shows a chequred flag. However FTP adapter fails to process this message(IDOC to file scenario). Any idea how and where to troubleshoot ?
We went through the applications.log , defaultrace, trc & xi.log with no use. Followed sap notes(761921) and set the trace level to debug for the adapter engine, still no messages seems to be traced about this failure.
We followed this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/49/e3fb40ef74f823e10000000a155106/content.htm(Thanks to Michal for his weblog which talks about this) as well, but only this scenario(message status with "TO_BE_DELIVERED") we are facing is missed out in this link
    Any pointers ?
    Thanks
    Saravana

as you can find on the help.sap.com :
<i>TO_BE_DELIVERED occurs while the message is put into the Messaging System receive queue. This is done via the Messaging System receive servlet:
    http://<Host>:<PORT>/MessagingSystem/receive/<CONNECTION>/<PROTOCOL>
Only if this was executed successfully the MS returns HTTP 200 to the Integration Server. In this example scenario status TO_BE_DELIVERED should not appear since we presume that the IS has called the servlet successfully.</i>
so... if the messaging system can't return anything (instead of returning http 200) the status is to_be_develivered I assume:)
    1. try logging into SapGUI with two users:
    XIAPPLUSER
    XIAFUSER
to see if <b>they are not blocked</b>
    2. You can check those:
    AdapterFramework
    com.sap.aii.adapterframework.serviceuser.language
    com.sap.aii.adapterframework.serviceuser.name = XIAFUSER
    com.sap.aii.adapterframework.serviceuser.pwd
    ApplicationSystem
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.language
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.name = XIAPPLUSER
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.pwd
in the exchange profile to make sure they got the right passwords
    BTW
did this scenario work in the past?

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac - No Reply Arrow When Replying From A Delegated Mailbox

    Hello,
I previously posted this in the 'Outlook for Mac' forum but was asked to move it (http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/d8912456-1e00-4b30-af17-13d150a88ea5).  Perhaps someone here wouldn't mind trying to create the same behaviour in their environment...
Our Outlook for Mac 2011 users open shared mailboxes which they have Full Access to by adding them to their 'People I am a delegate for' list.  The shared mailbox contents appears and the Mac user can reply to emails but the expected purple
    reply arrow is not shown.
Checking the same mailbox in OWA the reply arrow also does not show.
Replying to a message from OWA will create the arrow and this will display in Outlook for Mac though.,
All mailboxes are on a single Exchange 2010 SP3 infrastructure.  We have tested with multiple Macs with multiple mailboxes and all seem to be effected.
Can someone else with a similar setup add a delegated mailbox and confirm that their reply arrow get's created correctly please?
    Thanks, Ryan.

    Hi Ryan,
I suggest double check the permission configuration.
And also check whether the reply button enabled.
    Thanks

  • XI: How to update the Message Status (shown by transaction SXMB_MONI  )

    Hi
My question might be stupid, but I need you help.
I would like to know how can I update the message status what we see while using trasaction SXMB_MONI  . The Scenrio is, I have a Custom Interface program build on the Abap Proxy interface method called EXECUTE_ASYNCHRONOUS.
If I am not wrong, transaction SXMB_MONI is on the XI system and also on the SAP Application system. ( But I am not sure in what way the same transaction differ in two systems )
My issue is,  when I receive the xml data into a structure in abap proxy, I am doing some validation on the received message data. If I found some error in the data , then I need to update the Message status of the SXMB_MONI to  ERROR flag. How to implement this ?   I have not done one before. And I am not sure, if any exception like error message is raised, will it stop the proxy from processing further and update the Message Status and this can be viewed using SXMP_MONI in the SAP application system to be ERROR flag?
Or is there a BAPI or function module to handle this ?
    Appreciate your help
    David

    Hi
I am not sure If I had understood you reply. But Would need your help to have a bit more insight to your answer. I am not completely into XI , but I am from ABAP side.
At the R/3 side , Abap Proxy object geneted has the INTERFACE and its associated  METHOD, in which I am building my own abap code to do any validation on incomming data. But If I want to Raise a Exception, I understand that this Expection has to be first defined .
But do I have to define a new Z Expection class  or can I just add a exception in the Proxy -Interface-method.
I have not understood this process.
All I need to do is, if I find any incomming data error , during my validation at the R/3 side, I need to stop the METHOD processing ( by any means ) and Update the Message Status flag show in SXMB_MONI to Error .
What is the trigger  that i can implement in myown code that will update the Message status to Error , from R/3 perspective of using SXMB_MONI.
    Thanks
    David

  • Message Monitor Missing Messages in Adapter Engine

    All,
I had over 200 messages in my adapter engine but recently I only see 115 for the same period.
Additionally, all of the 850 (PO) inbound messages are gone.   I see them in the Integration Engine but not in the Adapter Engine anymore.
I need to repeat processing for a particular 850 message and so I am wondering:
    (1)   Any suggestions on why these messages are missing ?
    (2)   Is this a retention period issue ?  If so, how do I control the period ?
    (3)   How can I retrieve these messages ?
    (4)   Is there another place where I can re-process the 850 messages I need.   Where and how ?
Thanks everyone in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Andy

    Hi,
    >>>(1) Any suggestions on why these messages are missing ?(2) Is this a retention period issue ? If so, how do I control the period ?
It may be caused coz of some adapter failure which you are using for that particular  scenario. Also for rention period you can check it in the particular communication channel, but i don't think it will be the issue. try finding it in moni, if it is not there go to RWB and then find it for you particular interface. If it is not there try to find the status.
    >>>(3) How can I retrieve these messages ?(4) Is there another place where I can re-process the 850 messages I need. Where and how ?
In RWB -> message monitoring you will find all the message, Try searching it for your interface and the you can select all messages and you can reprocess it.
For error message , in RWB go to particular adapter, and check if it is running or not. It must be in running status. so check and let us know about it.
