Reply format?

Hello
Is there any method in Javamail that changes the format of a message to something that is being replied to? Something like when you click reply on yahoo mail and the message gets a vertical line on the left side of it and a horizontal line on top of it. And than you can write your reply on top of that.Basically I'm writing a mail client and working on the reply feature and not sure if there is already a built in method for it. Please let me know.
Best Regards!

  • Defaulting the Reply format

I need a way to force all user's reply format to be the same (use of the expanded reply headers with Subject, From, To, etc...). I was thinking to write a Formativ Applet that launches on Compose and sets the reply format for the user, or something that sets it at the post office level. I've been looking through the token and object APIs but haven't found anything. Is there some way to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Jason

I'm assuming that all those users are from the one Lotus Notes system or
your GroupWise system. Does this happen in WebAccess as well?
I would look at GWIA logs to check there aren't any errors generating
when receiving those messages, perhaps increasing the logging level along
the way. I would also take a close look at the "Message Source" of those
messages as it sounds like there is something not quite matching the
applicable standards that is messing things up. Compare to messages that
    are coming in normally.

  • Email Reply Formatting Issue

I am having an issue with my Droid Charge when replying to an email using an Exchange account.
Normally, when someone receives a reply, the email is formatted like this:
    Great!  Thanks!

  • Can I set up Entourage-like reply formatting in Mail.app?

    Hi all,
I just switched to Mac Mail.app (and iCal, etc.) from Entourage. In Entourage, I liked using the "Reply & Forward: Mail Attribution" preference that states:
"Place reply at the top of message and include From, Date, To, and Subject lines from original message".
I greatly prefer this formatting to the "on [Date], [Name] <Address> wrote:" style that seems to be the only option in Mail.app (10.5.1)
i.e. I prefer the messages in my e-mail thread to be separated by headers that look like this:
    From: [email protected]
Subject: It's Easy to Manage Your Referrals
    Date: December 29, 2005 7:38:41 AM PST
    To: [email protected]

Not sure how much use this will be or if it's different in Leopard, it might help get you on the right path.

  • Forcing a reply format

    Hi everyone
I was wandering if there is a way to have a part of the body of a message to be auto-generated for the receipent of my e-mail as such as he would only need to fill in the blank?
As an example, I would send a welcoming message to my new employe and when I come to reply it automaticly hads the text " Good day Francis" at the beginning of his message.
I know there might be some compatibility issue if there is different different version of outlook used but at first I was looking to know if such an option existed

    Hi friend,
You can create your own Outlook template and can apply a rule on it for auto reply. It helps you to generate pre-written text (as you said
    “Good Day Francis”)
in Outlook email reply for your recipients.
In a template, you can add images, contacts, company logo, etc., which makes it more attractive and useful.
Follow this link to learn “How to create
    automatic reply in Outlook”:

  • Mail v2.1 reply format

First an apology: I have asked this before but now cannot find the answer no matter how hard I search, thus conforming a) my stupidity and b) my carelessness.
When I reply to an email, the existing text and information on the incming email start on the line immediately below my own reply text so i have to remeber to add a couple of carriage returns to "tidy" it up,
No real sweat but I am by nature lazy so I'd like those couple of carriage returns automatically inserted when I am typing. I'm also senile and often forget untill the split second after I've hit send!
Someone has previously given me the edit hack to do it but, as I say, I have stupidly lost the advice.
    Can anyone help?
And if you were the original responder, please accept my apologies for my stupidity and failed filing system.
    Thanks.

Hmmm, I'd start by using Font book and check for bad/duplicate Font's .
Have you viewed the Raw Source of these problem ones for clues like... Content-Type: text/plain?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.

Hi, just update your extensions ( "Change quote and reply format 0.8.1" has to be installed an to be active) by using the updating-function for extensions integrated in Thunderbird.
Or - if the extension is removed - install the latest version from the devellopers website: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/changequote-en.html

    Hi,
sorry if I missed that in help or docs but is there a way to set default reply format (when I click Reply button or right-click on message and Reply) to "Reply to All (Include Message)". I know I can always click on "to all" option after replying but sometimes I too fast... :-)
    regs S.

Whenever you right click on the message and choose 'Reply" the option prompts if you want to reply to all or reply just to sender. So maybe slowing down is the best. It is generally considered bad to reply to all in every case. To my knowledge, there is no setting for this, at least in any past versions.

  • How Hit Reply, then switch the To: and CC: recipients via keystroke?

    Hi,
    SITCH:
I use Apple Mail. I work at a company where my boss will OFTEN CC me in a reply to someone saying, here's my guy, he'll' take it from here.
I hit Reply to All and , of course, He's in the TO field and the actual people I wish to be replying to are in the CC field still. I have to manually switch 'em, which is easy, but after 1,001 times makes me wonder...
Does anyone know a quick keystroke or Script that could switch the contents of those 2 fields (CC: and To:) ba da boom?
    Thanks

there is definitely no built in way to do this. it might be possible to sort of do this by an apple script but you'll loose the reply formatting of the body of the message and it might not work well with html formatted messages or messages with attachments.

  • Gmail and IMAP mail accounts no longer work in the mail app since iOS 6

I'm getting the User information or password is incorrect message.  Or it takes 10+ minutes to send a message.  It will no longer allow me to sync with my IMAP mail account from work.  Everything worked correctly, then iOS 6 is released and it's hosed.  I've looked online elsewhere and a few people from google are aware of the problem and are trying different things.  I tried enabling two-step id with google and providing an app-specific password to no avail.
Highly frustrated in this, and also in the fact that there are no useful workarounds.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi, just update your extensions ( "Change quote and reply format 0.8.1" has to be installed an to be active) by using the updating-function for extensions integrated in Thunderbird.
Or - if the extension is removed - install the latest version from the devellopers website: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/changequote-en.html

  • Can I prevent emails with zip attachments?

I keep getting junk emails sent to me on a daily basis which contain .docx.zip attachments. I want to somehow exclude them from my inbox and filter them out. Is this possible?

You can't "exclude them from your Inbox" because Thunderbird can only work on what is in the Inbox; so by the time it can do anything, about such messages, it's already too late.
My filter dialogue offers me an option to filter on attachments. It goes away when I restart in Safe Mode but I haven't yet been able work out which extension is doing it. Such a feature might allow you to automatically filter and dispose of such messages.
It will be one of these:

  • Possible to add Global Siganture to end of Personal Sig.

Is it possible to dictate where the Global Signature is placed? Currently the Global Signature is placed at the bottom of all outgoing email. For new email originating from our domain, it is not a problem. However, when replying to an email, our the Global Signature is being place at the very end of the email, making it appear as if our global signature is part of the original sender's signature.
Changing the Reply Format option "Type my reply" to bottom instead of top would fix the issue, but would be a change that my users would not approve.
Is it possible to prevent the Global Signature from being added to replies and forwards? This is how I thought is was supposed to work.
    Any suggestions?
