Reply-to addres is faulty.

Hi all,
I can't seem to find this problem anywhere else, sorry if this error has already been discussed elsewhere.
I'm using mail, and am running 3 accounts off it (two for work, one private). The last few weeks all of a sudden, all replies to my private e-mail are sent to my work account.
I can't seem to find where I can set the default 'reply to' address in Mail & I don't want to have to manually fill in the (correct) private address each time I send an e-mail from that account.
Is this a know bug & is there a way to 'reset' the default reply-to addresses?

You could try deleting (temporarily) the work smtp server listing from Mail Prefs (pick an account, edit smtp server, and delete work smtp server). Just remember to write down all the smtp server name and port number before you delete it, so you can put it back later. Then reboot, then try sending an email from the home account to yourself at the home account. Then look at your long mail headers. See what server you are using. If that cures it, then try adding the work server back in. Also, consider checking the "use only this server" checkbox with the appropriate server checked for each account.
Next thing that I would try, if it is still purportedly coming from your work server, would be to launch Terminal.app (in /Applications/Utilities), switch user to an admin-privileged user if necessary (type "su {adminShortUserName}" then type "sudo tcpdump -i en1 port 25". Use en1 if wireless, use en0 if connected by ethernet cable. In this example, I also assume that the smtp port of your personal mail smtp server is port 25. If it is 587 or 465 or something else, use 587 or 465 or something else in place of where I had 25. Now, leave that window open and send a mail from your personal account to you at your personal account. A bunch of stuff should start streaming by in that Terminal window showing the source and destination host names or IP addresses, with either a numeric port number or the acronym smtp. So, let's say you get something where one of the terms is "8.14.193.123.smtp". Switch back into Terminal, type a ^c (control-C) to interrupt the tcpdump, and type one or more of the following (following along my example here): "dig +short -x 8.14.193.123", "dig -x 8.14.193.123", and/or "whois 8.14.193.123". Of course, you will substitute the IP address that you see in place of where I have 8.14.193.123 in my example. That should tell you where your computer is sending your mail.
Post back with the results of the first or both of these things, should you decide to try them out. Then we can try to go forth from there.

  • Reply-to-all mails not going into discard folder in IMAP mailbox  oracle 11i

    Hi All,
    DB Version : 11.2.0.2
    App version : 11.5.10.2
    OS  : Solaris 10
We have a running prod system on which IMAP is configured in the workflow mailer. It has been observred that some users do a reply-to-all  (or attach images as attachments )when they receive the email from IMAP and these emails are accumilated in the IMAP mailbox inbox and are not moved automatically to the discard folder. This caused mailer to hang and stops the mails from going forward. We then manually check for such faulty emails and then move then to discard folder and bounce the workflow mailer.
We have scanned the metalink and google notes but have not seen anyone facing this similar issue. Also referred to the metalink note 275182.1 which suggests to set the expunge settings in the inbox but they are already in place.
    please suggest.
    Regards
    KK

    Hello Asif,
Thank You for your response. I did review the mailers logs but did not find anything significant. Also we guys are new to workflow so we are stuck. I am adding below the log file from the last 20 mins. please have a look and share your opinion on the same.
Also , please tell me exactly what is supposed to go in the DISCARD folder. ? Or do we need to create any rules in the outlook mailbox to care of the replies.

  • Faulty line for over a month now but BT says it is...

Has anyone got any suggestions, please?  I reported a faulty line on 22nd April - it had an increasing amount noise on it (which it has had for ages but had become unbearable) including clicking, and my broadband kept dropping.  I had done all the usual checks, disconnecting my home equipment and reconnecting it individually, and so on, and had checked my router which was fine.  My ISP insisted that it was due to a faulty line and said that I should report it to BT.  We have already had a fault repaired on the external line this year and one or two last year.
BT sent out an engineer on 24 April who traced the fault to 143m out from the junction box on our house.  He went to junction box two halfway down our drive and found an absolute mess of old cabling which had been patched and cut into and bundled up and patched again, in the 50 pair cable feeding our telephone service 35 pairs were unuseable and the cable very old and damaged.
He put in a report saying that the manhole in the street needed investigating and also drew up a plan to have the cable from the street supplying our property to be replaced as it is really unviable it is in such a mess, including the JB2 cabling which has various unused and dead cables involved as well as those supplying our house).  He contacted me to let me know that his manager had approved the cable replacement.
On April 30 two engineers attended and found the cable lying in water at the bottom of the manhole with our wires all corroded.  They cut the wire back and recrimped it and then tied the cable up out of the water with a bit of blue nylon rope that was already down the manhole.  They also looked at JB2 and agreed that the cabling needed to be sorted out.  The engineers told me that someone would be out to sort out JB2 and left.  After their recrimping our wires in the manhole our voice service has improved - there is still some hissing but no clicking - but the line is still unable to carry data consistently and our broadband continues to drop.
However on my BT online account later that day the fault was shown as having been fixed.  I confirmed that the line was still faulty, however the case was closed anyway by 5th May even though no further work was done.  I rang customer services (again - another hour or two on the phone!) and they were very apologetic and said they would reopen the case.  However they did not - instead they opened a new case on 6th May, even though it is the same fault as reported on 22nd April.
Later on 6th May my account showed that the line had been fixed and the case closed, which I saw on the 7th and reopened it.  On the 8th it showed that BT was going to investigate the fault and an hour later they shut the case again, saying it had been fixed.  On the 9th I reopened it again.  I rang customer services again, and they said that as the case had been closed I would have to start all over and have an engineer come out to check my equipment and line at my property.  We were going away on holiday for a week so I booked the appointment for the first working day after our return - 20th May.
On the morning of 20th May I checked our online account and it showed that the case had been closed again.  I rang customer services and sure enough the engineer's appointment had been cancelled.  So I made a new appointment for 23rd May.  The engineer has been today and tested the line from the junction box on the outside of our house (which is a good distance from our master socket) and said that while the line could carry voice it was not good enough to carry data properly.  He looked into JB2 and the manhole in the street (which of course he is not allowed to go into to do anything so he can only look) and said that the cable was old and damaged and need to be replaced!
I watched him type up his report and upload it to BT Openreach, stating that the fault was not repaired and that the cable needed to be replaced.  A couple of hours later I looked on my online account and found, with no real surprise, that the fault was showing as having been repaired and if I agreed they would shut the case down!
The engineer and I have worked out an inexpensive way of replacing the cable which requires a minimum amount of excavation along the tarmac'd drive (which we only have a right of way over anyhow), instead of which the cable could be continued along the wall down to the pavement and then taken down and into the nearest manhole which is two feet from the wall.
He has sent the A55 form in to his manager stating that the cable should be replaced in this way, (just as the last engineer did), so how can this fault be showing as fixed?
In the meantime my broadband provider Demon can see that the broadband keeps dropping, but they apparently can't do much about it.  They buy ADSL provision from Cable & Wireless, who rent the line from BT, but Cable & Wireless can raise a fault with BT if the case is closed.  But the BT Openreach engineers are all in agreement and reporting the line as faulty, yet BT is pretending that it has been fixed.  Meanwhile my BT bill has arrived as usual and I am being asked to pay both BT and my internet provider as normal for a faulty service.
A month in and I am really at my wits end as to how to get BT to make the necessary repair.  BT has claimed the fault has been fixed and closed the case several times since I first reported it on 22nd April, and shows no intention of doing what the engineers are all recommending which is to replace the old, faulty cable.  In the meantime I am being hotly pursued by BT to buy BT Infinity Broadband, yet the line isn't fit to carry it, since the copper which runs from the cab in the street is unfit for purpose.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions - we have been suffering with this old faulty line for some years now and it is just getting worse and worse.

Thanks for your reply John, but while the immediate problem is with the broadband the actual voice fault when it was reported was old damaged cable.  All we have been given is a temporary fix, which is what yesterday's engineer put in his report.  He showed it to me before he submitted it so I know that is true.
Both engineers who have attended in the last month have come to the same conclusion - that the cable is in a shocking state and needs to be replaced.  We may not have a voice problem currently but we have had two repairs for voice this year alone and several over the past few years as our line keeps breaking down.  The engineers are working their way through the cable as it corrodes and degrades trying to find clean pairs of copper wire to use.  In the meantime we have ongoing problems with our broadband dropping - all because BT won't just get on and replace the cable.
It may be expensive for BT to replace the cable - although the engineer and I have worked out a cheaper way to do it by continuing the wire along with wall down to the street rather than trying to dig up the whole run of cable under our neighbour's newly laid tarmac on the shared drive - but actually since we have to go through this performance of BT engineers followed by Openreach engineers attending our property every few months it seems a false economy to me!
The broadband is just 'hitching a ride' with the copper line, and two engineers have agreed that the copper line is shot to bits.  Once again the A55 has been cleared by the local team and passed to planning, because Openreach thinks that the cable needs to be replaced.  But the BT computer system keeps shutting it down.  I don't think on this occasion that it is reasonable for BT to refuse to deal with me as end user and just hand the problem on to my ISP - there is nothing they can do until the cable is replaced except reiterate what I have already told you.  If we are forced to go there, that will simply necessitate another bunch of engineers coming out and looking at the problem all over again - extra expense to BT - why not just get on an fix the problem that we all know is there?
We have considered changing to BT Infinity as our area has fibre, but until the copper between us and the fibre has been replaced there is simply no point in giving even more money to BT for a service that will not be able to run at a good speed.  If BT mans up and treats us decently by agreeing to replace the cable we will certainly be looking at Infinity again.

  • TO Find out which DIMM is faulty in server.

    SIR/mam,
we have V480 server at our Data Center.AND it shows only 6GB out of 8GB RAM in printdiag command. Now is there any command by which we can identify particular DIMM NO which got faulty?
Please reply .its urgent for me.

Is this question related in any way to your other (very recent) forum posts about RAM?

If there are entries, you will see them specify the individual cpu/memory boards as well as the specific DIMM slots. If the fault has existed for some time before you noticed it, you may need to go through older files as well (messages.0, messages.1, messages.2, etc).
If you cannot find any information that way, you will need to schedule a maintenance window, bring the system down to the OK prompt and then reboot it through a diagnostic POST. Keep in mind that a proper fully diagnostic POST on a V480 can easily take 30 minutes or more.
Once you have narrowed it down, you can power the system down and reseat the questionable memory modules. A normal POST after that will tell you whether all the RAM is working again.
When all else fails, you can grab your service contract number and open a SR to Oracle support.
That should have been your first action when you noticed this, not post a forum question.

  • I think my hard drive may be faulty

iI recently purchased a second hand iMac - 27" mid 2010. Things have been going well, I 'defaulted' the machine, re-installed OS X from the original DVD and purchased/upgraded to the latest version (OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5).
After 'tinkering' with iTunes yesterday evening and shutting down - on reboot this morning I have had all sorts of problems. I have used disk utilities, verify disk and subsequently disk repair from the original OS DVD. I got a message saying "Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk ... re-format the disk and restore backup files. Since there was no reformat option I chose the local hard drive, and erase option.
5 - 6 hours later and numerous attempts to reboot (with and without the OS DVD) I believe my hard drive has failed. The final 'symptoms' are - unable to see a local hard drive (only the DVD drive) in disk utilities - clicking sound from the disk and a 'flashing' folder sign with a ? on screen (without the OS DVD). I am 'fearing' the worst and assuming I need to take my iMac to the nearest authorised Apple dealer?
    Any advice gratefully received !!!

By means of an update and reply to my own question it appears that my hard drive was in deed faulty. I was 'lucky' in that the drive was covered under the Apple extension program (thank you Apple!) and has since been replaced very satifactorily by an authorised service provider (Western Computers in Cheltenham who provided an excellent service!).
I now have my treasured iMac back and am busily upgrading to Mavericks. My faith in Apple has been fully restored!
By the way, the 'Out of Warranty Repair Cost' would have been £230.84.

  • Who will assign the prices for refurbished & faulty & on which basis

    Dear Friends
    while implementing this refurbishment process
the pricing for c2 repaired & faulty c3 who will decide & on which basis
since every time we cannot have same fault for c3 (sometimes winding burn ,sometimes bearing faulty then for all how it will have same value as c3)
& in case of c2 what about depriciation
    can you focus more

    Dear Vinay & thagrajan
    Thanks for your reply
Now it is clear that faulty c3 has the value low which pm person will assist to mm&fi people
Regarding c2 which we be repaired but it has depriciated value as copmare to new .

  • Faulty MS Word file crashes entire system

So I do not expect a fix, I even doubt that anyone here knows how this is possibel, but I'd like to put it out there. How is it possible for a faulty MS Word file (which works fine on my Win7 system) can bring down my entire OSX system? Symptoms are as follows. Word hangs, all other apps start hanging, OSX looses server connections, OSX hangs and does not relaunch when choosing to do so under Force Quit forcing me to press and hold the power button to shut down the computer. In my opinion this should not be possible. It is after all just a word processing file. It can also happen by just selecting the word file in Finder. So it can even crash OSX just by asking for a file preview.
    Best regards
    Guy Rosset

  • Friend installed lightroom cc and now cannot run Fishsim 2 (for general use and competitions)as it comes up with faulty picture files any work around to stop lightroom doing this He needs lightroom for his photo work and cannot uninstall it

Can anyone solve this problem as this is a world wide community (Fishsim) and its a shame that this person cannot fish our competitions

    Hi Thanks for your reply
he did reinstall other program with no results
I do know that sometimes installing 1 program does interfere with
other programs and just because lightroom has not done it before
does not mean it wont do it.
The main problem is that fishsim has faulty jpeg files in it only
since LR installed and it wont load.
Thank you for your advice and help

  • IPod Nano - LCD Faulty?

    Hi,
I purchased an iPod Nano for my finacee for Xmas. She has just called me to say she thinks it has broken.
The iPod is playing music. However, the screen appears to have broken, as all she sees is the backlight come on and dim as it usually would, but nothing is displayed on-screen. She has tried resetting the Nano, but to no avail. Also, she says there is a black "splodge" on the screen.
The Nano was working fine yesterday, and was left overnight on a table in it's case, face-up, so nothing has fallen on it, been dropped on it, or basicaly touched it in any way until my fiancee picked it up this morning and discovered the problem.
I've had it less than a month, so it's still covered by warranty. Is it reasonable for me to expect to be able to take this faulty Nano to an Apple store and exchange it for a working one?

Well, that's an aboslute joke. Despite your sarcastic reply, it would appear that yes, somewhat surprisingly, the LCD screen ahs failed with no form of human intervention.
I flat-out refuse to believe that an LCD screen can fail within a month of the Nano being purchased, without any form of human intervention, and it isn't covered under warranty. As I said, it wasn't dropped, had anything spilled on it, screen prodded, or anything like that, in fact, it's pretty much been treated like the thing was made of glass due to all the reports of how fragile they are.
It's amazing to me that this is not covered by the warranty. Should this go back to the Apple store this evening and Apple NOT give me a replacement, a refund will be expected as this is completely and utterly diabolical.

  • Pictures hazy with flash on. (Faulty back cover?)

Hi, I recently bought an n900 and I'm having a problem with the camera.
With flash on the pictures I take are hazy on one side.  Now the funny part is if I take the WHOLE back cover off the picture (same conditions and with flash) comes out looking rather normal.
Here is a thread on maemo.org with people having the same issue.
Also it seems like not everyone has the issue....
    http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=36675&highlight=pictures+hazy
If you look on page 3 of the thread someone shows an example with his christmas tree.  He got a new phone and on page 4 he takes the same picture on his new phone with flash and with cover on and the problem is gone....
Obviously its not software related because taking the back cover off fixes the problem.
Is it a faulty back cover?  Faulty camera cover?  Assembled wrong?
Should I get my phone replaced no knowing for sure if it will even fix the problem? Does Nokia know about this issue?
Not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

well thats what the guys in the maemo thread were thinking also.  It's actually on the right side when you are viewing the picture on the phone.
Any one else with this problem?

  • Faulty pixels appearing on imported raw photographs in Lightroom 3

    Help please,
Some of my photographs are showing faulty pixel colours e.g. small random clusters of pixels typically purple against a blue sky.
I'm using a Nikon D700 camera in raw mode.
These faulty pixels only occur in Lightroom and on my new Sony VPCL13S1E desk top touch screen computer.
This does not occur with the same photographs and software on my other machines.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem and is there anything I can do to rectify the matter.
    Thanks Robert

    Sean,
    Thanks for the reply.
I'm new to Lightroom and photography for that matter.
The raw files have a NEF extension.
The attached photo shows the faulty pixels at the bottom right hand corner and inbetween the wings of the bottom left hand seed. (These defects are not to well shown on this photograph however on my computer screen they are everywhere.)
Camera calibraiton does help i.e. adjusting the slider bars but does not eliminate the problem.
I've tred alter the slider bars in the noise reduction panel and it has no affect whatsoever.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  • IOS 5 problems [reply all problems HERE]

Please reply all iOS 5 problems here so Apple can read them and fix.
my iOS 5 problem is that I can't listen my music on iphone.
when i click play nothing happens.

Yesterday, I wanted to update both my iPhone 4 and our iPad to ios 5 and boy this turned out to be a 5 hour affair with only the iPhone successfully installed. Initially, I had to update my iTunes to 10.5 which requested a PC reboot. Coincidentally Microsoft also had 8 updates requiring installation when I rebooted - already 45 mins lost. With iTunes 10.5 successfully installed, we then proceeded to install ios 5 on the iPad. The software downloaded OK (700MB plus and lots of activity on the Apple servers), the download speeds were slow. OK, an hour later and now ready to install, except there was an error after error after ........error message, all completely meaningless and then something about not being able to make contact with the Apple servers to verify ..... whatever.
Against my better judgement, now tried to install ios 5 on my iPhone 4. And again, the 700MB download (another 60 mins), backup of the iPhone and then installation and then for some reason the restore was interrupted/continued three to four times. Sometimes the Apple device lost connection with my laptop (was the cable faulty? Never before...., sometimes an uninitiated reboot was required (and not requested) to keep things moving along.
Apple, are you there? What went wrong? We're just as devasted as you all are that Steve is no longer around but is this a tribute? This kind of performance is what Microsoft provided a decade ago! Is this good enough?
A slightly less Apple enthusiast today!

  • Nokia 770 power off probs - is it faulty?

    Hi,
I've just had my 770 for a few days and keep bumping into a problem:
when the device 'sleeps' it can ony be rebooted and doesn't just wake up on screen/key presses.
This is causing flashdisk corruption if apps are running on suspend so i'm pretty convinced it's a fault.
If the screen cover is used then it wakes up first time but subsequently doesn't.
If it's running on external power then it wakes up ok.
An overview of the power states, transition events and indicators (eg sounds) and seep/suspend/hibernate/off modes would be most useful.
Please advise whether you think this is a fault or 'operator error' so i know whether to return it for replacement.
    TIA.

Thanks for your reply. I'm having it replaced as faulty.
If the 800 was a bit cheaper I'd be tempted but it's nearly 200GBP more, isn't that much more functional and doesn't have screen protection. I really hope the 2007HE OS update comes through soon but it is a shame flash8+, skype etc can't be included.
    Cheers,
    sparky.

  • How do you adjust the earpiece volume on my 5s, the   button has no effect? Is it as I suspect, the phone is faulty or am I missing a trick somewhere?

ctrl B makes the top bar (File. Edit. View. Controls. Store. Help.) appear and disappear.
ctrl S makes a side bar appear on the left side of iTunes. It shows the library which has Music. Movies. TV Shows. Apps. Playlists. Ect.
When I did the steps you suggested, my iPhone did not show up in that list.
I checked my firewall settings again, and they seem to be okay. My firewall is the only thing that I am not 100% sure of. If I go to Control Pannel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Allow an app through Windows Firewall. It shows that iTunes is allowed. I'm not sure if something else might need to be allowed as well though. I have a few Remote options that are not allowed such as, Remote Event Log Management, Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Shutdown, Remote Volume Management, and Routing and Remote Access. I'm not sure if any of these need to be allowed or not, or if they are even affiliated with iTunes.
