Reply to email using gmail help

So I have gmail setup on iPhone. 1.1.3 iPhone. In my account setup on Gmail using the computer to setup, I've added my personal email address (a pop account) as the reply to address for gmail. And set Gmail to get my personal email address email. All that works fine on the computer.
On the iPhone, which only has the gmail account on it, when I send email from the iPhone is there anyway to have this email I send to people to ALSO have my personal email address as the reply address?
As it is now the email sent from iPhone is replied to my gmail email. I want the reply email to be my personal.
When I send email via gmail on the computer, this works correctly. But not the iPhone
Thanks

Try this:
I actually have no idea if this will work or not.
Go to Settings>>Mail and the account. Change the outgoing information to the account you want to send from.
Worth a shot.

  • After upgrade iPhoto will not email using Gmail.  Message " Your email did not go through because the server did not reply."

After upgrading on both computers at work and at home, iPhoto will no longer email using Gmail (or for that matter any email program I can find).  I've tried the fixes of deleting all accounts in iPhoto and re-entering.   Still doesn't work.  Any other ideas?

    Hi Scooter,
I'm reposting my response to a similar question here.
Try this, assuming you're using iPhoto 11 and Mountain Lion:
Within the iPhoto application, click on iPhoto in the menu bar
    Click on Preferences
    Within Preferences, click on Accounts
Your Gmail account should be present. Click on Gmail under Accounts.
Put in the proper information. Your full gmail address is your username (put this under Email address). Outgoing Mail Server is smtp.gmail.com   Port is 465   Password is your password.    Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should be checked.
Upon making these changes, click on the red "close" button in the top left corner of the pop-up window. Choose to Save Changes.
    Close iPhoto.
Reopen iPhoto. You should now be able to share photos.
I hope this helps. One suggestion for you, by the way. It's always best to include the application version and the operating system version you're using when asking for help. The above solution will not apply, at least exactly, to anything other than iPhoto 11 and Mountain Lion.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • Setting a different "reply to" when using gmail via exchange on the iPhone?

    Hi Guys,
I have been using gmail via IMAP for quite a while on my iPhone, but decided to switch to gmail via exchange. It's really great - instead of polling for emails, they are pushed to the phone - this means a saving on data costs as it's not polling every 15 mins!
The only problem I am having is that I currently have my own domain name, so my "reply email address" is different to my gmail one.
When using IMAP, there was the option to set a return address. Under Exchange, the first field is "email" - I thought this might be the return address (as it doesn't seem to have anything to do with my gmail account details) but when I send an email from it, the return address is just my standard gmail one...
Does anyone know a solution to this?!
    Cheers and thanks,
    Mike

    Hey Graham,
    Thanks for the reply!
If I do want to stick with gmail, though - is there any way to set up a return address on the iPhone's Exchange, or is it just not an option?
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Can't download POP email from GMail - HELP!!!!

Just upgraded to a Macbook Pro from a 1.67Ghz G4 Powerbook.
I've set my Macbook up from scratch with a completely new install and no matter what I do I CANNOT get Mail to download my POP email from GMail.
I've deleted and completely reinstalled the account, set up a new user account and tried that, stopped the POP in GMail and renabled it and all I get is the lightning symbol for a problem with the account.
    Outgoing mail goes fine.
I'm tearing my hair out. I fired my Powerbook up and it worked fine so it's definitely something on here....

I'm embarassed to say that I had put the SMTP server port number in as the POP server port which explains why it didn't work.
After 3 years of supporting people using macs I should know better but it just shows that if you think you've done everything right you can stare straight past something....
Thanks for the help and sorry for being such a dimwit....

  • N95 delete email client (gmail) help?

I have difficulties with the email client of my N95 8gb. I'm using Gmail via IMAP. It worked great, until I decided to enable all mails instead of the standard 30 emails. No my phones keeps crashing. I tried to delete gmail, but somehow it is still on my phone. Not when you check the mail boxes (it is not there), but I still can select it via personal settings in the standby modus.... and it still uses the memory of the phone.
How can I delete it properly??
    Thanks...

Hi - I've just tried doing this on my N95 and in Active Standby mode, I don't see the Gmail link ... it gets deleted when I delete the account.
I'm not sure what file you're referring to when you talk about the "existing" mailfile, but as long as you take a copy so you can put it back if it doesn't work then there shouldn't be any harm in deleting it to see if it solves your problem.
The last thing you can try, although it's a bit drastic, is to take a backup of your phone via the Memory Card program on your phone, then wipe it using the *#7370# code, and then restore the backup from your phone - note that you should also take a backup of your phone using the Content Copier program in PC Suite as well as a double back up. After restoring your data you will have to reconfigure bits of your phone like the security code etc. as they will be reset to the default.
I've done this procedure several times and have had no problems - but it's always best to be safe ! Also depending on what firmware version you're running, if you do the memory card backup it won't save your calendar information so this is another thing to be careful of. You can configure PC Suite to sync this information to Outlook or Outlook Express and then transfer it back though ...
However you need to be aware then essentially when you type the *#7370# code in you are wiping the phone back to factory defaults - so you'll have to reinstall any applications you have installed from the phone etc.
Hope this helps - let me know how you get on.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • Reply/answered flags using Gmail IMAP

Does anyone know if Apple Mail now syncs reply/answered flags when using GMail IMAP? I know it was an issue in the past. Has it been resolved? If not, does anyone know of a workaround?
Also, is anyone aware of any guides to optimizing the use of Apple Mail with GMail IMAP? I know there are some quirks. Just wondering if anyone has worked through them all.
    Thanks

Just to be clear, gmail does not support the \Answered flag on its IMAP implementation, so there's little Apple can really do to fix it. Here's the gmail page explaining what features are missing:
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78761
I'm not aware of any guides, but my #1 suggestion: use the Google Labs feature which allows you to turn of individual mailboxes on IMAP, and turn off the All Mail box (and possibly Starred, etc.) Having these in Mail will cause some serious confusion, as searches will return two copies of emails, changes in one box will affect another, and so on. Note that the All Mail box will still be available through the web interface, which is nice.

  • Problems with replying to emails. Please help???

I currently have 2 email accounts set up within Mail.
When I receive an email to the first address (email 1) and reply to it, the email is returned to the sender as if it has been sent from the second address (email 2) and when they reply back to me it is sent to the second address (email 2).
I have tried making sure that the original reply is sent from the first address but no matter how many times I try this it always sends and returns to the second address.
This problem only happens when I reply to emails and not when I create an email from scratch.
Can anyone please help as this is driving me nuts!!!!!
    Thanks in advance....

    Just to clarify.
I currently have 2 email accounts set up within Mail.
The first account is for business use and the 2nd is for pleasure.
Whenever I recieve an email to the business address and reply to it, the recipient receives the reply from my pleasure address and when they reply to that, it returns to me via my pleasure address.
I have tried making sure that the original reply from me is sent from the business address via the drop down "FROM" tab but this makes no difference.
This is my first iMac and this problem is driving me insane!!!!
Any advice will be greatly welcomed...
    Thank in advance...

  • Failure to send email using gmail server

I am using gmail account and I use thunderbird to download all the emails and to compose my emails. Now I'm trying to write a java application that will send out emails. Since I'm still in school I am using gmail account for the class project.

  • IPhone 5/iOS 6 - replying to emails using "Outlook Style" Format?

    Hi all:
I've googled around for the answer to this, but haven't found anything particularly helpful, so I'm reaching out to the community here in hopes that someone has a solution.
My company is offering us the choice of continuing with a Blackberry, or switching to an iphone 5.  The main thing holding me back from switching to the iPhone is that I don't see a way to change the format of a reply email in the default Mail.app so that it is using the "Outlook Style" format.
That is, when replying via the Mail.app on an iPhone, you will get this email format:

Does anyone have any suggestion for how to change the reply email format so that it follows the Outlook style?  I do not want people to know that I am replying from a mobile device, and it is readily apparent that you are doing so via the iPhone.  (The blackberries do not have this problem as they conform with the Outlook format by default).  I also think it looks very unprofessional in the business environment where the vast majority of enterprises use Outlook as their email client.
    Thanks!

Hi gdgmacguy, thats so much for your reply. Currently this is only happening with one email address, not all. I also asked our exchange admin and he didn't have any ideas... any clues as to what to have him look for?

  • Scan to email using gmail as SMTP

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8600 N911g printer.  I have this currently setup with the scan to network folder working great.  I would like to set the scan to email.  As the corporate office uses exchange I have to use another service for SMTP.  I setup a Gmail account and puched in the appropriate settings, but the unit fails to connect to gmail.  I've tried multiple ports without success, I've also tried setting up the email server settings, again trying multiple ports without success.  I've tried using every combination using SSL and SMTP authentication, but nothing seems to connect.
Does gmail actually work, I've seen some say yes, others say no.  Is there another service that would work outside my corporate network or do I need to setup an internal email server, just so I can scan to emails?
    This question was solved.

  • Cannot send email using Gmail after iOS 5

Since updating to iOS 5, I cannot send email from my Gmail account on my iPhone. I receive email fine, but when trying to send I get the error:
    Cannot Send Mail
Check the settings for the outgoing servers in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
I have erased my Gmail account and re-set it up numerous times, and restarted my phone in between doing so. The wizard works perfectly fine, my password is accepted, and like I mentioned email comes in perfectly. I do not have this problem sending mail from iCloud on the same phone.
One thing I did do is attempt setting Gmail up as an Exchange account so that I could use push, but it killed my battery so I erased it. This might have been when the problem began but I'm not positive.

I'm not sure what exactly I did that finally fixed it, but I erased my iCloud and Gmail accounts, restarted the phone, and added Gmail first. But I removed Gmail so many times who knows what actually did it.

  • Problems Setting Up University Email (uses Gmail) in Mail

I have a student email account that runs through gmail, but it doesn't actually say gmail in the email address anywhere. I think this might be the reason why when I try to set up that account in Mail (tried both POP and IMAP) it's not accepting my login information. Is there a way to make this work?

Not an exact solution for you, but our University has a computer store on campus that was all kinds of help when setting up University email to operate through Mail, remotely.
Give the IT Help desk or (if one exists) the store a try.
