For some reason, my phone will only log into my .mac email, which I dont use because it keeps getting hit with spam.  I want to use my @me email on my iPhone but there is no option to use my @me account.
Fix anyone?

How do I force the iPhone Mail app to reply in plain text?

If I take the above preferences and change them from Arial 14 to Arial 144 I can get the body in about half of my current messages to display in 144 pt font.
It varies by mail client of sender and to which mail box it goes to on my Mac.  Haven't found a commonality yet.
Someone here will have a brilliant answer, however.

  • Suggestion: iPhone mail should automatically select reply-to email address

I don't know if this is the right forum for suggestions, but here it is anyhow:
When replying to an email in Mail.app, the reply-to address is automatically set to wherever the email was sent. It would be nice if the iPhone Mail client did the same instead of defaulting to the address associated with the SMTP server.

So this is an alias email address associated with a primary email account/address? All messages addressed to the alias email address are received by the primary email account and delivered to the Inbox mailbox for the primary account?
The iPhone's mail client supports receiving messages from an alias email address associated with a primary email account but not replying from the alias email address for a message that was addressed to the alias address.

  • IPhone Mail app is pulling replies from Gmail

Any help would be appreciated but my iPhone Mail as well as the Mail app on my Macbook have been showing replies in the inbox from Gmail. For instance, I will receive an email from someone and it will show up fine, then when I reply, my sent message will show up in the thread.
This has started about 2 days ago and is making it tough to manage my mail. I am running the newest version of the iPhone software and Mountain Lion on the Macbook.

    Anyone?

  • How do I change the address used in "Reply to" permanently in Mail?

    Hi there,
I use OS X in German so I am not sure exactly what terms are used in the English version and I hope I translate this correctly.
    I have the following issue:
I use differnet amail addresses for business purposes but I want to be able to use all iCloud advantages and work on my emails to keep all 4 devices I am using in sync. Therefor I reduced my old business domains to forwarding emails to one iCloud account. The problem is that I still want the person I write to see the email address from my domain as the "reply to" address. What I did was to add more accounts in Mail for outgoing emails, while all answers are redirected to my icloud account. This worked pretty well but it has a downside. My outgoing mail is only available on the device I sent it from. Sometimes I do have to look what I have written to a person and that can be a pain because I would have to remember if I sent it from the iPhone, iPad, Air or iMac.
The only real sollution I can think of is to only use the iCloud address to sent emails and to change the "reply to" while I write. This of course is quite annoying to do manually for every email if you write many emails every day.
I have used diffrent email programs in the past and most of them had the possibility to permanently change the "reply to" for outgoing mail. Is there any way in Mail to do so? If not is there a mail client for OS X and iOS that can do so?
    Thank you!

I also did a similar thing and just found out this no longer works in Mavericks.  This completely destroys my workflow and I am not in a panic to find out how to remedy it.
Basically, I have a "catch all" single incoming emailbox for my domain and then send messages with various "reply to" addresses depending on the context.

  • Iphone mail (ios6) replies from default account instead of alias recipient

    Hi.
Since upgrading to ios6, iphone mail replies from my default account instead of the alias address that the email was originally sent to.
Prior to this upgrade, iphone mail would reply to the address that the email was sent to.
All alias addresses are present, and i can change teh sent from address to the alias manually.
If i reply to the same email from icloud.com, the email is sent from the alias address it was sent to, not the default account.
I tried turning mail off and back on, but the problem remains.
Please let me know if there is a new setting i have to look for, or if anyone else has solved this problem.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem, and was about to start a discussion on it when I saw your post.  I'm assuming that you're using iCloud, like me.
Things changed in iOS 6 regarding Mail settings, but I still think the behaviour you and I are seeing should be considered a bug.  Under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud > Account > Mail, you should see that there's a new setting that allows you to:
Choose a default address to use when sending from your iCloud account.
To confirm that you and I are experiencing the same problem, can I ask you to confirm that the default address chosen here is the default address that is being erroneously used as the "From:" address when replying to emails sent to aliases? If it is, you should probably make doubly sure that this setting is the cause of the behaviour you're seeing by changing it to one of the aliases you've created, and seeing whether this becomes the "From:" address for new replies.
Please post back with the results of this, and we can go from there.  If you're seeing this behaviour too I think I'll report it as a bug to Apple.

  • Prevent iPhone Mail from loading images in HTML e-mails

    Hello there!
Is it possible to prevent iPhone Mail from loading images in e-mails?
If yes, where can I change those settings?
    Cheers,
    Thomas

Ian, thanks for your quick reply.
I just hope Apple is going to build this feature into one of the next firmware updates, since from my point of view this is not only a security concern, but could turn out quite expensive if you are on a bad price plan.

  • Setting a Custom Gmail "From" Address in iPhone Mail

I'm trying to set a different "From" or "Reply-to" address in the iPhone Mail app when using my Gmail account. I want the messages I send out to look like I've sent it from another e-mail account and not my gmail account. I tried the way Gmail recommends: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=81375# but that doesn't seem to work. It might be a different function with the iPhone 3G/iPhone 2.0 software.
    Anyone know of a workaround?

Jrags, you can do this by setting up your email on your iPhone not using the "Gmail" option under "Add account" but rather the "Other" option." You can then specify the "from" address you want. You then also have to enter all the settings yourself for the Gmail incoming and outgoing servers.
While in general it works just fine, there is one quirk you should know about. When you set it up this way, and you also choose to have the copies of the messages you have sent saved on the Gmail server, it can take up to 24 hours for them to appear there. If you save the copies of your outgoing messages on your iPhone they are saved instantly.

  • IPhone Mail Bug

I have an imap account with 2 different email addresses.
In my iPhone mail settings, both email adresses are typed in the address input field: email1,email2
If I get a message to my email2 address and click reply, the mail app uses automatically email1 address. So the email address first in row is always used instead of the address the email was sent to.
    Can anyone help?

In settings>mail>default mail account What is selected? That's the account that will be used.

  • Reg iPhone Mail App (downloading of emails)

    Hi,
Does iPhone download the entire email when we check for emails?
    Scenario:
    - Open iPhone mail app
    - receive 10 emails
    - open the email to read the contents
    - get ‘loading’ icon..seems as if that’s when it’s trying to get the email
    - the contents received in few seconds depending on the email
    - move on to next email…and see the same loading icon
Is it that mail app downloads just the headers and the content is downloaded when you actually open that particular email? Ideally, I would like the email to be downloaded completely to my phone…this way I can quickly check my emails and move across the messages.
I believe Blackberry works differently where the entire email is downloaded and only attachment is downloaded when you try to access it.
    Thanks,

I have just received the new iphone 4th generation. I have a data plane for 200mb per month.
My question is wether iphone downloads the whole email message or if it downloads only the headers? If it downloads the whole message, can I opt for only the headers?
It seems from the first day of use it downloads all messages including the attachments and thus my data usage is huge. In my old Nokia phone only when I required to read the email it will go ahead to download the whole message-is this possible with iphone?
    Marios.

  • Mail app does not sync "Sent" or "Read" messages with my iPhone mail app.

I just started using a new Mac Mini (running 10.9.1). I have the Mail app connected to a handfull of different email addresses, and my iPhone mail app is connected to the same addresses. If I send a message on one device, the other device will not show it. If I read a message on one, the other will not show that I've read it.
I assume the two Apple devices, both running up-to-date operating systems and using the native Mail app, should be communicating with each other in a way that allows me to work between the two seamlessly. Am I just incorrect in my assumption, is there something I can fix, or is this a bug we're waiting to have repaired?

Actually, my Gmail is the one that does work appropriately. I have a few IMAP addresses I use that do not sync between devices.

  • Mail app receive my mails always late comparing my iPhone mail app why ?

mail app on my new MBP haswell on mavericks receive my mails always late comparing my iPhone mail app why please ?

There are issues with Mavericks Mail but only for some people. Worst on Exchange, but remember this is not "push" mail.  It will never be as fast as Active Sync push.
For $1.99 try Airmail app, see if it is any faster. For me it is faster. If you rely heavily on 'On My Mac' folders then Airmail needs another release (in Beta currently) to support them properly, otherwise it is a very good app..

  • IPhone Mail App not showing all messages

I have set my iphone mail settings to show 500 recent messages, but it only shows 10 messages - how do i get past this problem?

What Kind of email account is it.
If the account is Gmail or Yahoo, those are IMAP accounts which all messages can be retrieved from the server over and over again if you remove the account and re-add it.
Now if you are using like a SBC-Global, ATT.net, Bellsouth, Anything that is a POP3 Account it will only download new message and not past ones.

  • IPhone Mail.app does not sort mails by date

I've just copied about 3000 old mails from a POP3 account to my Gmail account (IMAP). This was done through OS X mail.app, which just works perfect both in the OS X Mail.app and in the Gmail web interface.
The problem is that the Mail.app on my iPhone seems to sort the mails by some kind of mail ID so all the copied mails appears first in the Mail.app. I can't find any way to sort the mails by their date, which I guess will solve the problem.
If there is missing importing information about the problem please let me know so I can supply with more information.

This is a known issue with gmail. I found this in their FAQ:
"Messages uploaded or copied into Gmail using IMAP may display the wrong date in your inbox or other labels."
    See http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=82365&topic=12922
Apparently "The correct dates should appear in conversation view." applies only to web browsers and not the iPhone Mail app.

  • IPhone Mail App cannot connect with gmail iMap server

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.
So I changed my gmail password.
No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)
Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too)
    BUT
I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.
Any suggestions before I call Apple for help?
    Thanks
    Barry

    I think so.
Actually I think I need to get the App Password for Mail on my phone. It generates the app password and I enter it into the password in the gmail setup for mail.
The problem is that when I hit next on that page, I get the message:
"my name" is already added" and I cannot proceed.
Before doing this setup I deleted my gmail account by tapping the email address and hitting delete in the Mail, Contact and Calendars setup..
but, there is something hiding in my iPhone that remembers my old gmail password (I guess) and doesn't let me proceed.
If I enter my gmail iChain password I get the same thing.
If i do this in airplane mode (no connection to google) i also get the same.
I talked to an apple care person who had me reset all my settings... still the same thing.
I am trying to avoid a gull reset of the iPhone, but that may be in the cards.
Going to go to the apple store and ask there, but i am not hopeful.
