Creative,
This is what you get if you just Reply to the original post using the Quote button (top left with the "):

  • CS6 and EDGE : the SUITE question (originally posted in CCM forum)

    sorry I copy paste from CCM forum as the question ir related (?) to both subjects, and I may have better answers here or there
    Alright, sorry I posted a quesiton this morning and found the answer, i have to have CS6 to use lateste Edge Animate.
    What bugs me is that here it says (document created in May but updated lately it seems)
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/enhancing- your-dps-folios-with-edge-animations.html
    it also takes
    "Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Professional or Enterprise account"
    Do you confirm ?
    If taht is, it's really painful, we can't afford it fdor now...
    We sold a project with previous version made under CS5.5 and Edge Preview (we could use Egde stuff by then) so we're a little bit trapped.
    Do you confirm it takes a paying suite to be able to use EDGE ANIMATE in CS6 ?
    If we pay for the CCM soon (we think about it) will we have to pay both then ? CCM and the PROFESSIONAL EDITION ?
    thanx for the answer

    If you have CC you get Edge and you are free to use it any DPS work you do, including Single Edition.

    Loading data from a file

    Hello,
    i want to load my data to oracle from a rdf file and can consult it later with sparql.
    so, I construct a Jena Model, then I store it using this program, but how can i consult it without loading the file again. thanks
    Oracle oracle = new Oracle(jdbcUrl, user, password);
    // read a data file into a default Jena model.
    Model model = ModelFactory.createDefaultModel();
    InputStream is;
    is = new BufferedInputStream( new FileInputStream(filename));
    model.read(new InputStreamReader(is), "", "");
    is.close();
    ModelOracleSem modelDest = ModelOracleSem.createOracleSemModel(oracle, modelName);
    GraphOracleSem g = new GraphOracleSem(oracle, modelName);
    g.dropApplicationTableIndex();
    if (method == 0) {
    psOut.println("start incremental");
    modelDest.add(model);
    psOut.println("end size " + modelDest.size());
    }else if (method == 1) {
    psOut.println("start batch load");
    ((OracleBulkUpdateHandler) g.getBulkUpdateHandler()).addInBatch(
    GraphUtil.findAll(model.getGraph()), tbs);
    psOut.println("end size " + modelDest.size());
    } else {
    psOut.println("start bulk load");
    ((OracleBulkUpdateHandler) g.getBulkUpdateHandler()).addInBulk(
    GraphUtil.findAll(model.getGraph()), tbs);
    psOut.println("end size " + modelDest.size());
    g.rebuildApplicationTableIndex();

    Hi,
    Chapter 1 (section 1.8) in the documentation has a quickstart on these steps - creating a semantic network, a model, loading the data using INSERT statements and so on. For faster load of large amounts of data you can use the bulk load functionality, documented in chapter 1 (section 1.7).
    For Java code, you could use the Oracle Jena Adaptor, and the best place to start is with the documentation of the Oracle Jena Adaptor, at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/semantic_technologies/htdocs/documentation.html

    Hi,
    Well, I think the issue might be due to using Flash Forms so
    I *think* you need to look into the files that are in the /cfide/
    directory. These files get called I believe and are responsible for
    those alert messages, I have heard of others modifying the various
    .js files in these directories.
    If you need more info, let me know I will try to help if I
    can.

    I am new to this.  If I try to post a question in response to another post on Adobe Forums, I get an "unauthorized" notice.  Searching Adobe Community Help with jp2, I get several returns, but none is helpful.  I would like to post a question about opening jp2 files with CS5 Extended.
    Thanks,

    In order to not affect other things, just open AR9 before you start IE8. You will likely get comments about AR and AA not being compatible and that is an issue you have to be careful with. Also, note that if you delete either, you will have to repair the other. They will work together, but issues like you are having will continue to be an issue.

    Why did my post get deleted ??
    Will you also just delete this question ???

    If your post was found to violate the Terms of Use (link at the right of this page), you should have gotten an email notice from the Hosts. That should explain the reason.
    If you weren't notified, your post may have been removed along with an offensive one from another poster, usually because without the one that was removed, it may not have been clear what you were talking about. In that case, you were an "innocent bystander," and the Hosts don't send you a notice.
    As long as you were being helpful and polite, and didn't get a notice from the Hosts, don't worry about it. Happens to all of us, now and then.

  • Replying does not show original message

    After upgrading to Safari 4 (final release not beta), I started to notice that when replying an email the original message would not always show. I have selected all the correct settings in preferences. Does anyone have a suggestion?. As a side note, when I tested the Safari 4 beta, I had to go back to Safari 3 because some rules in Mail stopped working.

    The only emails that I've noticed the problem with are from a Mac user who uses the Mac Entourage.
    User-Agent: Microsoft-Entourage/12.10.0.080409
    I have emails from other users that show:
    Content-type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"
    and when replying or forwarding those emails, all the text from the original appear in the new email.
    I only noticed this problem after upgrading from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. I also upgraded Safari from v3.x to v4.0.3. I noticed in another thread someone mentioned that they had problems with some rules in Mail when running Safari v4 beta and they went back to v3 and the problems went away.

  • My original post, locked by this forum. Display problem related

    Hi G5 Gurus,
    The display problem first, we all know when screen savers display, a click on the mouse will bring you back to the active desktop, this was how it worked., but now, sometimes a click cause the G5 to sleep!
    As for the sleep, I dare not to put it to sleep these days, because I am afriad it may cause a fire by over heating. Sometmes, actually four times in the past few months, my G5 could wake up by itself, followed by a extrem high speed running of the cooling fan, it sounded like a hair dryer running in the same room. Sometimes the sreen could light up, just like real wake up, sometimes, it was black. No clicks the mouse or keyboeard could bring it back to normal, I had to press and hold the power button to turn it off.
    This crazy problem happened for the first time last summer, a dead hard disk was the cost. Apple replaced it, but failed to detect the cooling or power or display problem. I was given one month extended free service, but right after its end, the problem was back and happened even more often.
    Please let me know if any of you had the same problem and please advise what to do.
    100s Gs of thanks.

    I have the EXACT same problem. In fact, I could not have described it better myself. What gives? I brought it in to the "genius" bar and they repolaced the power supply free of charge but the problem is still there. I noticed they ordered a new logic board but did not end up replacing it after all. Did you have yours replaced and did it work? Is this a known issue?

    Hi La teller,
    Thank you for your reply. The 'genius' here in London only replace the dead hard disk, which I belive was a victim of this problem. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the power supply or the cooling system.
    Now at lest I know I am not the only bad luck guy. Let's wait and see if others are having the same problem. I am not sure if this is a known issue to Apple, even if it is, it may take years before they can offer a recall or free repaire. I noticed that some G5s have already been suffering from power problems and a free repaire was offered.
    Thank you again and hope Apple can take our concerns into their consideration soon.

    Hello,
    I'm also having this problem (fan running, won't come out of sleep), just spoke with an apple care rep. He confirmed my suspition that it was software, not hardware as I have just had the logic board and power supply replaced.
    His suggestions were to:
    1. Run disk repair from the startup CD
    try running OS X from a firewire drive and see if the same behavior happens or
    perform and archive and install.
    When the fan starts to run like that it means the OS is not communicating with the hardware properly. The OS could be somewhat corrupt if you were having hardware issues beforehand, hence the need for a reinstall. I will be performing an archive and install after the disk repair, I'll let you know if it fixes the problem!

    Hi Stopha6,
    Thank you for your message. I never imagined it could be a software issue, cos it looked so hardware.
    Please keep me updated with your progress.
    By the way, as I said in my old posts, a hard disk went dead when this happened for the very first time, how do you read this?
    Thank you.

    Hi Stopha6,
    After reading your reply again, I realized that the system had already been reinstalled. As I said when it happened for the first time, the hard disk died with it, which was replaced, of course with a new OS X, but the same problem is still happening. May this suggest that it is not just a software problem? Thank you. Songyan

    The Fans going at full is only because you have an application that is using a lot of cpu power and therefore causing the imac to heat up so it turns the fans on. The screen-saver and sleep problem you describe sounds like something that may just happen on accident. But this sounds mostly like a software problem. Try making sure to always quit all non-apple products and see if anything changes.

    Thank you, Ag-Nate. I will try as you adivised but I con't think the fans were activeted my intensive CPU using. In most of the cases, the problems happened when the Mac was sleeping, when the minimum CPU were being used.

    "The Fans going at full is only because you have an application that is using a lot of cpu power and therefore causing the imac to heat up so it turns the fans on."
    That's only partly right. A hard-working process will make the fans run at high speed, of course.
    But, the OS is in touch with the firmware of the iMac, telling it how to run the fans, based upon information the OS X kernel is getting about the state of the hardware.
    If the firmware loses touch with the OS for some reason, and is not getting instructions on how to run the fan, it will default to running them at full blast, to be on the safe side (and this "full blast" fan mode is way louder than anything you'll generally experience during normal usage, I know from experience).
    So it may not be so simple as a hard-working cpu process kicking the fans on.

    Hi I have a 20" G5 imac it's about 18 months old and I am having the same problem, It freezes and the fan runs really loud. It's nothing to do with software as my I.T. guy has done a complete re-install. All of our admin people have imacs of differring ages and the flat panels are all OK but every one of the G5s has had a booting problem. Some fell into the recall for replacement logic boards but the one I have at home is the newest and doesn't. I'm waiting for my apple reseller to get back to me, but it looks like it's the logic board and as none of the serial numbers fall into the recall, I'm expecting a big bill. I'm really disappointed as I've been a professional apple user for over 15 years and have grown to expect a certain amount of honesty and integrity from them. Looking at all of the discussion boards and the amount of people complaining of the same problem the logic boards are defective and apple should be replacing these free of charge.

    Kensall,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    As in the other thread I wrote:
    Being from England, you may find the repair program under these pages:
    http://www.apple.com/uk/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/
    http://www.apple.com/uk/support/imac/powersupply/repairextension/
    Check both of them as they refer to different models.
    If neither of yours is under the program, please start a new topic thread so someone can help you.

    First off, you'll get a wider audience who may be able to solve your problem. Secondly, responses to you won't confuse the original poster with solutions that don't apply to them. And thirdly, you'll know for certain whether or not a response applies to you.
    iMac C2D 2.17/20 inch/iMac G5 1.8 1st gen/iMac G4 800 Mac OS 9 Mac OS X (10.4.8) EyeTV 200, Canon PS A530 , Epson P-R220, iSight, Airport Extreme, 5th Gen iPod

    I am having a very similar problem. My G5 imac has already had the logic board replaced from the leaking capacitor problem. 8 mos. later the power supply was replaced under the second recall program when it failed to start up.
    It had been working now for almost a year, when about 3 mos. ago I started to experience the sudden dimming effect - if the display was untouched the screen would dim about 30% similar to a laptop in energy save mode. I checked and none of these types of options were set in the pref panes. At the same time I would have the iMac go to sleep after a while from non-use, and then when I tried to wake it it would stir for a few seconds and then go right back to sleep. It took 2-3 attempts to wake it up.
    Then last week, as I tried to wake it, it just shut down instead completely. I had to hold the power button down to recycle it to get it to come back to life (3 times).
    Today was it - I found what I thought was a sleeping iMac, but it will not power up at all. I opened the back cover and the power supply is working, but I cannot get the board to energize, I reset the PMU, but the #2 LED won't even blink. It is completely dead.
    Basically every time I used this computer I held my breath that it would not work. After 2 recalls I still only get 9 mos. out of it? Apple is really starting to show it is like the "big" computer makers, the quality is going right down the tubes.

    Why is it that Adobe has over 6000 posts on this web site and obviously Adobe(who has taken my computer hostage}, has done nothing to rectify this situation. They have placed a botched up piece of software out for distribution and have done absolutely nothing for the consumer who unknowingly tried to use it. I for one would like to see some sort of response from Adobe. Are they working on this? Are they going to send us something so the can get 9.3 uninstalled? What?... And by the way, I think you have some program developers that should be looking for another field of work... just a thought..... this was neither developed properly nor was it tested thoroughly. So, maybe we can all calm down here, explain the problem you are having (be sure to include all details even if you think it doesn't matter) and maybe one of us "users" can give you a hand?

  • External Hard Drive Questions... (original posting by Nile36)

    Original Post:
    I just installed a Western Digital 500GB External HD. I partitoined the drive (one side 150 GB to be a little larger than my iMac hard drive) using Disk Utility. Now, the icon of the External Drive is still listed in my finder as 150GB but I do not seem to have access to the additional 350GB on the drive.
    The initial thread has been marked as 'Answered' although there is one more thing that can be added. While I posted a resolution in the original thread I've added it here in case those interested/affected ignore the first one.
    You can download and try VolumeWorks. I found it at:
    http://mac.majorgeeks.com/download4983.html
    I ran in trial mode to see what it was capable of and it did allow me to take a partition of 'free space' and format it as HFS+ without affecting my other, data filled test partition. Contrary to what I previously thought (and unlike the iPartition demo), it wrote the changes to the drive.
    The new partition is HFS+ only. To add journaling, use the Disk Utility from Apple.

    There's something missing in your explanation. If you're getting the "original file..." message, that would indicate that you may have had all your music files on your laptop drive at one point and them moved some of them to the external drive without using the proper procedure.
    If you don't have a lot of playlists, star ratings, and that sort of information that you're trying to preserve, then Mike's suggestion is an easy way out. If you do have a lot of that kind of information, then you may need to see if you can restore your setup to its former condition, when it was all working, and then use proper procedures to move files to the external drive or whatever it was that you were trying to do.

    Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
    Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
    Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.
