Replying to a post

I am afraid that I cannot work out how to reply to a post? I would like to thank someone for their help and I cannot work out how to!

When you read another's post, you should see "Reply" in bold letters in the lower right corner. Here is how your post looks on my screen:
I clicked "reply" to right this answer.
If this is not showing up, it could be due to the system maintenance last weekend. Many of us noticed glitches that cleared up when we emptied our Safari cache:

  • For the past week or so I no longer see the toolbar in the Comcast Help Forums to reply to a post made in that forum.  Has there been a change made to my iPad 3 settings and how to fix it?

Has something changed in the iPad 3?  I Go to the Comcast Help Forums daily as a Volunteer Moderator and for the past week or so when I open a post in the Forum and attempt to reply to the post, ai no longer have a toolbar which contains different options that should be
available to me.  Such as quote, font. Font size, inserting a link or image, etc.
Now- I do not have a toolbar at all!  I already contacted Lithium who is the company that creates and maintains the Comcat Help F or umps.
What has happened and how do I resolve this?  I would not be at all happy if Apple has done something that is now preventing me access.
I use my iPsd 3 daily for monitoring and helping in the Comcast Help Forums.
    Thank you,
    CCC.

If this is what you are used to seeing in the Comcast forum, you need a browser that can identify as a desktop browser. Safari does not do this. I am using iCab Mobile and this is what the forum looks like when I sign in.

  • How can i allow certain people to reply to forum post?

Hi all, how do i allow certain group of people to reply to forum post instead of everyone can reply? Any help would greatly appreciated.

    Hello
You can secure the forum and subscribe group of people to the secure zone , by this only the subscribers will be able to view the forum and reply on posts.
You can also enable moderation for topics with which only approved topics will be visible on your site.
For details please refer to this document :

  • HTML Editor and reply to discussion post

    Hello,
I am using Discussion Group provided by KM. In a discussion, when I reply to a post, the HTML Editor is opened. In the HTML Editor, not all the functions are available. The Editing functions (display, cut, copy, paste) and some of the Formatting functions are displayed. Other functions such as Inserting Objects (Insert image from KM, Insert link from KM, ...) are NOT available.
Is it possible to make these "missing" functions available ?
    Thank you.

    Hello Amit,
    Thank you for your reply.
The HTML Editor is set correctly. I checked with the KM explorer. When I used the menu New - HTML File..., the HTML Editor is opened with all the functions (including the Inserting Objects and Tables functions) .
Is there any other configuration that I need to check?
    Regards.

  • Can't find "Quote Original" button for Reply to a Post

When I went to reply to a post I wanted to use the same quoting format that I saw others had used. So I went to "Help & Terms of Use" to learn how to do this. The info given is: "If you want to quote specific text from the original message, click Quote Original to add all the text from the original message to the Message box." I could see no such button. So I replied without using the desired format and at the same time asked the person I was replying to about this. That person's reply back was: There's a '"' icon in the compose window when you type a reply. If I'm doing a lot of quotes (as I did here) I use that, then edit out the bits I don't want. Otherwise I copy and paste the text and add a > before the line to get it to appear in the special format.
I'm still mystified! I see no such button, icon or anything about "Quote Original" in the "Reply", "Compose" window. I also tried adding a > before the line, but nothing happened.
I was originally attempting this using the Firefox browser. To make sure the problem was not a Firefox glitch, I switched to Safari, with the same result.
How is "Quote Original" done? Where is that button?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks, Limnos (again!!). I wonder why the Help info doesn't just say what you now did. .... Click on the " in the formatting panel just above the compose window (rather than click on "Quote Original").
I do though feel a little stupid for not having clicked on everything that could possibly be clicked on. I'm now wondering what I was thinking those " marks could possibly be for since I do have the " key on my keyboard if I want to quote a phrase that I'm typing. I just was thinking that all those formatting items are for the typing of my reply and I didn't hold my cursor over each for the info box to appear. Oh well, thankfully, all my present posts are now solved. Thanks to you again Limnos.

  • Sometimes no reply to the post, neither no reply to the user replied.

sometimes i am fed up with hp support forum where no one replies to the post. There are few post were not a single user has replied to it.  Even there are few user who have replied to my post and when i have further replied to their reply and still no reply at all from anybody.

    Hello Varadar,
I'm sorry  you are not having the experience you were looking for.  Please remember that the HP Support Forums are  a peer-to-peer community of HP customers, and not a venue to contact HP directly. Most of the users here are consumers like yourself who are offering solutions because they like to help others, and any HP employees you see are here on their own capacity and not representing the company.

  • After I reply to a post the post says updated and is dark blue

This morning I noticed that after I reply to a post initially the resulting discussion is in light blue with no updated showing. However, after I refresh the discussion list, the discussion is in dark blue with the updated showing.
    Anyone else seeing this?

  • Reply versus Reply to original post in Adobe Forums

    Hello Everyone,
    1. What is the difference beteween "Reply" and "Reply to original post" in Adobe Forums?
    2. What will happen if we Click on the Reply option?
    3. What will happen if we Click on the Reply to original post option?

    Creative,
This is what you get if you just Reply to the original post using the Quote button (top left with the "):

  • Clicking reply on a post should auto quote said post

Liz T (Spiceworks) wrote:In my opinion, quoting posts isn't necessary all the time. We have different ways of keeping context. Some people refer to use the tagging,Kotlx, while others can quote. I don't think it's really necessary to force everyone to quote post. I guess if I could compromise, it would be to allow users to have a setting where "Quote Post" is done by default and they can opt in/out of that setting. I don't know if that is actually feasible to code in, but it's an idea.Only going on anecdotal data here, but my observation has been that more often people do not quote (for whatever reason, but mostly I think it is that quoting is a bit unintuitive) when they should than the reverse. Most forum systems have a reply button and a quote button. You can hit the quote button for each prior quote that you want inserted into your...

Simply clicking reply on any post would quote that post in the bottom text box. Multiple quotes wanted? Simply click 'reply' on the post. And down here, I can disagree with wanting an auto-reply.Once you have the reply in there, there's no way to get text above it....

  • Cannot reply to forum post without being registered; but can't register without creating a new thread

I wished to reply to a forum post with new information that will be of relevance to anyone searching for a solution to a particular problem. I did not have a support account with Mozilla. I found that the site would not allow a reply from an unregistered person. Fair enough, but it gives you no way to create an account then reply to the post. The only way you can create an account is by creating a new thread - which is what I am doing now! Crazy or what? It then took about 10 minutes thrashing about on the site to find out how to create an account. Frustrating or what? Thank goodness Firefox itself is built to much higher standards.

Suggested fix for an admin to apply:
Replace the text that appears at the bottom of a thread while signed out - "You must log in to your account to reply to posts. Please start a new question, if you do not have an account yet."
...with one that reads "You must log in to your account to reply to posts. Please [https://support.mozilla.org/get-involved sign up to contribute], or start a new question, if you do not have an account yet."
This little seeming catch-22 gave me a chuckle, but I'm glad this thread was already here so that I didn't have to waste space. Someone needs to fix this soon though, lest it put more people off contributing.

  • Can't reply to the post about my not being able to reply

I had a problem with the reply button not working after I tried to reply to a solution to an earlier posted question about Final Cut 7.
I got an excellent reply from ChitlinsCC describing the problem with possible solutions, basically adding automatic reloading tabs to my browser, Safari or Firefox. Unfortunately the downloads led to deadends although I appreciated the description of the problem. I wanted to offer my reply, made within two minutes of receiving notification in my Mac Mail. Unfortunately there was no reply button when I clicked on the link to take me to the forum. However, I did log on to the forum all over again to reply to Chitlins only to discover that the reply button once again had no effect.
Is this happening to anyone else or is this just a case of my astrological good will being mucked up by that spaceship that landed on the comet. :-)
Any ideas about how to reply to a post?
And in any case, this is my attempt to thank ChitlinsCC for the help even though the solution appears to be beyond the browser add-ons that didn't seem to work. :-)

wasn't ME the thread was broken for, but the OP of this one (#2 continuation)
broken = Cannot post - User ' ' is banned from posting. -- it was about asafhan (or whatever the name is)... remember, only broken for user 'CBFilms'
I do not know what efforts CBFilms made to solve the issue, BUT it has happened to me as a replier on at least two others. It is clearly associated with the user AppleID.
Another anomaly recently is 'disappearing posts' - one gets an email notice, navigates to reply, shows the post as "last post" at the top, but no post present. I have had this twice today. And yes, not being my first rodeo, I tried all clearing, restarting, etc. - still no joy. As a Guest, post is present, as ME, it is gone. The solution I found is to post any reply to any other post and voila!... missing post magically appears! I think the JiveCoders have fixed some things and inadvertently caused some new ones. As a coder from way back, it is not uncommon for that to happen.
I, like bob, have come to the conclusion that we are stuck with a system so 'seasoned to Apple's taste' that it will never work completely right. JiveSoftware provides enterprise community solution to lots of big outfits, in a much more robust way (the way it was designed) - as we are not privy to their communities, we'll never be able to compare.

  • Since the latest download the soft keyboard lags BAD when typing, especially if I' m in a browser and trying to reply to some post.  It's lagging as I type this, though not as bad as usual.   Most of the time it is effectively useless it drops so much.

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.
