Replying to ical invitations with comments (notes)

How can I reply to iCal invitations but with the addition of notes ?
I can do this on my iPhone / iPad but I cannot see any possibility on the OSX calendar.
I am using iOS 6 and OSX 10.8.2

I experienced this issue as well.
Background:
I had opened an ICS attachment for a repeating event on my iPhone, which added the item to my phone's calendar. I did not have the option to delete the calendar entry from my phone, and the item did not appear on the calendar on my Mac. My phone is currently running iOS 7 (but the problem began quite awhile ago; I don't recall which version of iOS was installed when it started).
Solution (summary):
Create a new calendar, move the items that you wish to delete to the new calendar, then delete the new calendar
Solution (detailed steps):
Create a new calendar
On your phone, open the calendar app
Tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the "Add Calendar..." option
Give your new calendar a good name, such as "Delete me"
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to save the new calendar
Tap "Done" in the top left corner to finish editing the list of calendars
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars
Assign all calendar entries that you wish to delete to the calendar you created in step 1
Tap a calendar entry that you wish to delete
Tap the "Edit" button in the top right corner
Scroll down until you see the Calendar field (on an iPhone or iPod it's usually just below the bottom of the screen), then tap the Calendar field to bring up the list of available calendars
Tap the name of the calendar that you created in step 1 (e.g. "Delete me"); the screen should return to the main calendar entry page
Tap "Done" in the top right corner of the screen. You may need to then tap the "< Day" button on the top left of the screen to return to the main calendar view
Repeat the instructions in step 2 for each of the calendar entries that you wish to delete
Delete the calendar that you created in step 2 (this will delete all calendar entries assigned to this calendar)
From the main screen in the calendar app, tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Tap the entry for the calendar that you created in step 2 (e.g. "Delete me")
Scroll to the bottom of the scren and tap the "Delete Calendar" option. You should be prompted with a warning that explains that "All events associated with this calendar will also be deleted."
If you're sure that the only items on this calendar are items that you wish to delete, tap the "Delete Calendar" button
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to exit the Edit Calendars screen
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars. You should now be back at the main view of the calendars app
Rejoice, your pesky repeating calendar events have been deleted
At this point all of the items that you assigned to the deleted calendar should be gone
Repeat the steps above for any entries that you missed
Post another message to this thread if this did not resolve your problem

Sending iCal invites with Scripts

Hello,
I have created an Applescript to open a website for an iCal event and invited my boss. However, when he receives the invite, he does not receive the script (nor does his iCal show an alarm if I have set one on my end either). Is there a way that iCal can automatically set the alarm for both myself and the invitee (in this case, my boss)? And, can I have the invite sent with the script attached? Without having to send a separate email, then going onto his computer and setting up the invite he has accepted?
In this example, I created an iCal event to open ebay at a certain time in order to bid on an item. I want him to have the script (or the event alarm) sent to him when I send him the iCal event invite. Hope this is clear.

No. The invitation does not include alarm details.
Can I have the invite sent with the script attached?
No. You have no control over the contents of the email sent to the attendees.
Why not just send him an email with the url at the appropriate time? You can use Andreas Amann's Mailscripts to schedule a message for delivery - and since now it is your message, if you really want the complexity you can send him an applescript attachment.

Replying to an invitation with a message??

Does anyone know if it's possible to decline an event invitation with a message? I recently switched my office over to Macs and it's driving all of us nuts that we can't decline (or be declined) an invitation with some sort of reason why!
This is especially maddening to my secretary who gets decline after decline with absolutely no input as to why! What is she supposed to do? Just keep guessing with new invitations until she hits the time slot that works for someone?
I realize that a separate email could be sent for this purpose, but what a pain! Any input is greatly appreciated.

I can't use iCal invitation with personal domain-mail

I use iCal on iCloud with my personal domain mail [email protected]
When I invite another user that have an email address with the same domain like [email protected], the email invitation doesn't arrive!
Why??
I try the same thing with google calendar, and the invitation arrive correctly...

You have transported all your old copies of those applications onto your Mavericks system. You can't do that nor do you have to. Please do a proper reinstall:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

Accept iCal invites with different email addresses?

Hi there
I receive calendar invites through a variety of different email addresses. I can only accept/save the invite to iCal (not a Google calendar for instance). Invites won't save to a stipulated calendar, only the default one.
I cannot notify acceptance of an invite unless it has come to an Apple email address, so work and personal email addresses show that I have been invited but the caledar does not recognize alternative addreses and as a result I cannot confirm acceptance.
Is there anyway to configure iCal to recognize multiple adresses or is there another application that you can suggest that works with multiple addresses?

At what stage does it change? What happens if you start the email with a capital? What happens if you select the address from the pop-up? What happens if you drag the address across from Address Book?

Diff tool - Bug with comments not escaped

Diff tool in version 3.1.07
I have a new table that includes comments on the columns. Some of those comments have single quotes in them like in the words "don't" or "user's". The diff script is not escaping those quotes in the CREATE TABLE DDL so the DDL fails.
Another issue is that semicolons are not placed at the end of CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW statements.

Found another issue:
Forward slashes not placed at end of statements to create/replace packages or procedures. This caused several of my procs to run together and was pretty obvious once it happened but easy to miss when reviewing the script and obviously caused problems.

Why don't some apps sync with comment not authorize for computer and go authorize computer at store. The computer is an authorized computer. What to do?

I sync my iPad to computer and get the following message: "some of the purchased items on the iPad, including 'Angry Birds', could not be transfeered to your itues library because you are not authorized for them on this computer. to authorize this computer for items purcchase from the iTunes store, choose Store>Authorize This computer.
I don't understand because the computer is one of my authorized computers. What am I missing?

I have had this problem and after some time noticed that the apps that i couldnt put on my new computer were downloaded with a different ITUNES ID.
e.g.
I downloaded about 50 under [email protected] which was my account.
There were about 10 under [email protected] which is my daughters account (she used a $20.00 itunes card)
And a couple were from my sisters account [email protected]
i logged into those accounts and authorised the computer for each ID and it worked fine... You just have to remember what ID's downloaded each item. (app, song, etc) Log into each ID, authorise, then Sync....

Anyone know how to create an iphone invite on your phone? Or if apple is planning on adding this feature anytime soon? any other apps that do the same thing?

Possible currently only with an MS Exchange account on the iPhone. Else, you'll need to wait until Apple implements such a feature - and no one here can say if or when they will. You can request it.

I've deleted all other email services. But still did not resolve issue. Any ideas?

reset the server, re enter your e-mail. go online and find the server title and then enter it in your phone and you should get e-mails. What do you use for e-mail, hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail?

Accepting iCal invites with iOS 4?

I read that this is available for certain types of calendars (server based?). Has anyone figured this out.

Hi there. I've stumbled upon a workaround! No rewriting code or any such nonsense.
Here are the steps I take, using Outlook 2002.
1) open calendar invite message in Outlook
2) save the *.msg file _that is attached to the message_ somewhere easy to locate, like your Windows desktop
3) copy the saved file that now sits on your desktop
4) open the Outlook mail window again
5) paste the file from your desktop into your list of messages.
6) locate the pasted message
7) open the pasted message. *You can now accept the message and it will appear in your Outlook calendar.*
Please circulate this workaround!

How to respond to invitations with text

in outlook it's possible to reply to an invitation witha comment, such as 'i can't do that time but will try to duck out', or 'please offer another time slot'. i don't see the ability to do that via mail and ical. does anyone know if it's possible?
Same question about 'counterpropose' as in outlook one can offer another time when invited to a meeting. does that feature exist in ical?

If workflow creates new instance, you can not pass workflow container to new workflow instance.
If comments are stored in application table, you can retrieve it from application table. It is a job for workflow template side.
Your situation:
App comment -> Workfloe Container -> rejected and workflow instance is completed.
New event -> New workflow started -> New container does not have comments.
Solution:
App comment -> Workfloe Container -> workflow step saves comment in app table.
New event -> New workflow started ->workflow step reads data from app table -> pass to workflow container.
or
You can edit the workflow template for loop until approved. So new workflow instance won't be created and workflow container is available in the loop.

Wrong "reply to" with iCal invite

Hi,
I've got a MacOS X Server running 10.6.6.
Everythings works fine with iCal except one thing.
When I send iCal invit. to the outside world, the reply-to that my mail program is getting is just a junk of numbers and letters like :

Okay, so after spending several hours with Apple tech support I was able to resolve my problem, hope this helps. The user had manually synced their Address Book contacts with their iPhone and a Google contacts list. Both of these syncs as well as manually adding new contacts into the Address Book on their iMac caused the Address Book to get completely scrambled. The user had cards with no title, but as many as five (unrelated) email addresses assigned to the card. This same Address Book contained multiple address cards like this, yet each one was slightly different. The user also had cards with titles containing special characters (&;?-_/ etc.), the quick answer for me was, the user had o go through their Address Book on their iPhone and their iMac and completely descramble the bad data. Then before a fresh sync they had to turnoff sync with Google contacts within iTunes. Once the bad data was removed the invitee field with iCal immediately started to perform as expected without fail. What a relief to have this issue resolved.
