Replying to Posts

Why is it that you can only see the post you are replying to when replying to a post?  This seems different than most other forums where you can generally see all the post on a particular page.  It makes it more difficult when you want to respond to more than one post.
Latitude 14

ya know... that's been bothering me for over three years and i never thought to make a case about it.   sounds like now is a good time.
we'll add it to the list and see what can be done about implementing it.
thanks!

What's wrong with this Forum? Why does Adobe take so long to reply to posts?!
This is actually "specific" to this Photoshop Forum.
I typically get responses back from other Adobe forum promptly.
    Chime in.

The Adobe engineering folks DO duck in here from time to time - and that's a BLESSING!  Please name any other big company where you get to interact with the engineers AT ALL.  I can't.  But I suspect the engineers actually have a lot oof real work to do, and their time here is necessarily limited.
Your comments are more along the line of "I pay a huge amount, for that I expect better support".  These are very valid comments.  But reality is different from what we may expect, and this forum is not the place to expect Adobe support participation AT ALL.  In fact, the technical support people at Adobe often direct users to come here (something I've always found amusing).
At the higher level, Adobe may simply not be spending enough on support for literally millions of users.  Is is greed or smart business to try to minimize support cost?  That's up for individuals to decide.
I suggest you write a snail-mail letter to the Adobe president if you're not getting the support you need.

  • OT: Replying to posts on an iPad

Has anyone visited these forums from an iPad? I can't seem to reply to posts from mine. I'm properly logged in. When I hit the Reply button in a thread, I'm taken to the text field for my reply, but when I click in the field the onscreen keyboard doesn't appear (as it does when other text fields in Safari, Mail and elsewhere are selected). Does anyone know how to solve this riddle? Thanks.

  • I'm unable to reply or post new discussion via firefox - Help :(

I'm unable to reply or post new topics.
the text window will not load.
I'm under firefox 3.0.12 and I post this msg via safari.
    also,
everyday it will log me out, or every few hours. why is that?

No problem here with FF 3.0.12 on Windows XP.
There are definitely issues with the cookies and coordinating logout between Adobe and Jive servers. I've tried to remember to always log out and then back on again first thing each day.

  • Cannot reply to posts

Since the move to Jive 7, I have been unable to post a reply to anything when I am on my laptop or using the desktop version of the forum.  I CAN reply to posts when using the mobile version on my phone.  But I much prefer to read and respond to posts when I am sitting at my desk, using the laptop.  I have heard from others that they can post a new discussion, so I am posting this here, and hoping  there is a solution, or some setting I may have that is preventing me from posting.
Windows Vista, Chrome up to date, or IE9 makes no difference.

The basic problem is I can use my screen name and I can log in to the community forum, however it does not accept my cell number as a login. With my password.
I can login through my verizon web site and select support-recent activity and it again asks for me to login.
No problem before the so called improvements to the forum just after they messed it up. I see I am not the only one with this issue.
Also posts are down I suspect due to folks that could reply before cannot do so now.
However I can log on as just a community member with different screen name and password and I can post, do status updates and reply with no problem what so ever.
So it is an issue with customers not being able to reply. And I am not changing my posting handle after all these years because the programmers at Verizon Wireless don't know how to fix what they mess up.
    Good Luck

  • Over a week, still can't reply to posts...

Like many, I've been unable to reply on my laptop (Dell PC) since the introduction of the new format.  Chrome, IE, Firefox ... makes no difference.  I can start new discussions, so until this gets fixed, I will keep starting new discussions to reply and hope the ones I am replying to will see.
In response to The specified item was not found. (japetty) - You stated " It looks like VZW has struck back at those that they don't like what is being posted by that individual.  VZW should not be so hateful towards its customers"  I highly doubt this is the case.  I think it's simply a matter of launching a new platform without fully testing it out, and some of us got caught in the misfires.
@john51  - I feel the same frustration - and I don't think it had to do with changing your screen name - I've use this same one since I joined the forum several years ago, and it made the transition from Lithium to Jive, but from Jive 5 to Jive 7 it's been bumpy.  I would hate to have to switch names now...  and I don't think you can delete an account.  An admin or moderator can deactivate an account though.
mdxdx - I can still log in and reply to posts on my phone (Android OS) on the mobile version, but I don't like it.  I much prefer to participate in this forum via my desktop.
Perhaps if everyone who has problems replying can start a discussion here, we'll be able to figure out what the common factor is that's preventing us from replying, yet allowing others to do so.

Ha ha the common factor is Verizon screwed up and never tested the site before they put it out as "New and Improved"
Nothing should be changed with the forum posters, it has to be fixed by the Technology Unit at Verizon. However I highly doubt they are going to figure out the problem in any quick hurry.
Replying from Apple iPhone 5S is the only way I can reply to a post.
    Good Luck

  • Ah Hah! Now 5:30 pm PST & I CAN Reply to Posts!

Apparently, it just took a few more minutes/moments for it to change/update or something, because now I CAN post Replys!

  • I can't reply to posts on any forum, website, or blog. I can open a reply window, but as soon as I click "post" the window closes. Any suggestions?

Started happening today, after the newest version of Mozilla downloaded (automatically on restart). Never happened before. It's not the mouse.
For instance, if I go to my favorite forum, open up a reply window, I can type a response just fine. When I click the "post button" the window closes. I can open the same reply window, but it just won't let me post my reply.
Just tried clicking on a response in the "This happened" window below, and guess what? I can't click on any of them......

No idea how to fix that. Try preview first, you will still have to post though.
If you can post sometimes before it fails, I would recommend --- forget the if, you'll need it anyway for mozilla sites, and occasionally for other sites.

  • Cannot Reply to posts Continued part 3

However SuzyQ I have never used my cell phone number to login. I can login after I login to my verizon select support and then recent activity. And presto i am here.
account I can go to https://community.verizonwireless.com and login with the username and password and I am in, presto.
However if I were to use my cell number it does not accept that. Strange indeed.
I can log on as a community member only under a different user name and password and I can post, and reply with no issues. This is why I am and was thinking it has to do with customers who log in under the wireless account versus just community user names.

However I just logged in with my cell number and password and on the iPhone it let me right in.

  • As of 5:25 pm PST, I still cannot Reply to Posts

I will continue to check on it, as Topher mentioned he was able to Reply again.
Being that Apple posted that it will be doing maintenance at 6pm PST, I don't have much hopes.  The server I use at the Apple Discussions must still be in "maintenance."

Guess it just took a few more minutes, because at 5:30 pm PST it started working again.  I changed nothing on my machine.

  • Still cannot REPLY to Posts & Posting formatting not available

I can Post new Discussions.  Although, I do not have the Enhanced part of the Posting page available. -- I do not have any the Text formatting bar or the quote tool or Smilies or anything like that.
I have tried every thing that Topher has tried, see his Post -- https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4059650
It is NOT our machines or our browser set up.  It just started happening, was able to Reply before, and have not changed my setup.
Topher and I both appear to be in California - maybe that's a clue.  Apple posted that they will be doing maintenance on the main page::
Scheduled Maintenance: June 26th, 10:00PM PT Hide Details

    Hi,
It's not possible to do that.
    Patricio.

  • Problem replying to posts on craigslist, mailto puts to much info in address

When I try to reply to an add through Craigslist using yahoo mail. the mailto is set to yahoo mail opens fine, but in the recipient address (to:) to much information is place in there for example: "mailto:[email protected]?subject=_____2oo5 Buick Lacrosse CXS_____ - $2900 (pittsburgh)" I have to manually remove everything until it reads this
"[email protected]" for email to send properly.

I have the same stinking problem. I fixed it once on my other computer but don't remember what I did.

  • Anyone else seeing this? Possible bug deletes reply before posting?

I'll spend ten to twenty minutes writing a carefully researched post. No more Save function and I forget to copy it to the Clipboard and, poof, it's all gone. I don't know how.
I'm using Firefox, but maybe it's happening to others using different browsers. I don't hit the delete button, nothing gets highlighted first, but something I do --  usually down at the bottom of the keyboard that I can't reproduce -- wipes everything out but a few letters. Edit>Undo doesn't bring it back. Is this some bug in the new software based on some weird key combination?
I know this is all very vague, but any idea what key combinations might produce this, so I can avoid it? Maddening.

Not sure if I didn't express myself correctly or you misunderstood:
I am typing here in this window. I want to insert a link or look at another thread, so I open/move to another tab and keep this window/tab active because I can't do a save any more. So, if I'm doing research in a couple of different places, I'll have a couple of extra tabs open. And, every time I go to another tab, I'll do a "copy to clipboard". In the meantime, while I'm elsewhere, I pray that my post has not gotten wiped out when I come back to it. After losing a "masterpiece" (very long post), I've also started to copy and paste whatever I've got into a Text Edit document if the post is going to be longer.

Error codes 60xx (6025, 6030 and others) on the BT Sport website video player
    on ‎03-08-2013 17h36
    Hi all
We’re seeing a lot of posts about error codes displayed when trying to watch live content on the BT Sport online player.
The video player on the BT Sport website requires a Microsoft Silverlight plug-in because we use Microsoft PlayReady DRM to protect video content from piracy. If you receive an error code on the website video player that does not begin with the letters 'VC' (eg. 6025, 6030), this means Silverlight is not working with your computer. This may be for a number of reasons, such as the specification of your machine or the version of the browser that you are using. It is possible to download the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight from here:
This site also offers guidance on system requirements and support for getting Silverlight working on your computer.
    Thanks
    Nigel ' unquote.
The above is only partially correct. I and hundreds of others have all the correct equipment and software which works perfectly on the above MS site but refuses to work on the BT Sport page.
A quick check on Google would show Nigel and his cohorts that the fault lies fully with the BT server side and the inability to manipulate the licences.
As for protecting from piracy, your naivety is beyond belief. I do not wish to pirate any thing and I am no expert but even I know that anything that plays on my PC screen can be recorded no matter what BT does.
