Replying to text messages - issue !

I've only had my iPhone 3GS 2 weeks but twice when I have opted to reply to a text message the send button has not been activated. By that I mean that the text does not show as white and the message will not send. Service is fine, does anyone have any ideas as to why ???

I called after work today and they suggested I go to my local VZW store to get a new SIM.
So I went. I explained the situation we're having and the guy also said he had never heard of it before. Before we started any troubleshooting, I told him I would text him and show him the issues. I had rebooted at work and had not sent any texts until I got to the store.
I sent the guy a text, it went through.
He replied.
I typed a reply, failed.
Rebooted.
Repeated first 3 steps. His face was like
We went straight to a replacement SIM. Phone went through activation and all that jazz.
Uninstalled Handcent SMS to eliminate a 3rd party app being the problem.
Problem remained with stock Messaging.
Was asked if I was rooted, I am and on a non-OEM ROM, but the issue had never come up before. He didn't have an issue with it, he was pretty knowledgeable about ROMs too.
Was asked if I used Google Voice for calls/texts, said no as I only use it for voice mail. Verified GV is set to not do any calls.
Was asked to try Google Hangouts for SMS, I've never used it for that, so we enabled SMS. Problem remained.
Rebooted a couple of times, a couple of times was stuck on 3G but eureka! SMS went through.
Eventually the phone locked in to 4GLTE
So it *seems* that it was the SIM all along. So far so good, let's see how it goes over the next few days. Try going to a store and getting a new SIM.

I have had text messaging issues. The messages disappear or never show up

I have had my Samsung ATIV SE for over six months now and have had it replaced to resolve a text messaging issue but the problem still exists and no one has been able to help me. Text messages randomly disappear. I just had a two week block of messages disappear for no apparent reason. I need a resolution and not sure where to turn. I was sent to Samsung and Microsoft and no one has been able to help me!!

It doesn't have to be any one in particular. I suggest going into the app store and doing a quick search for SMS. Pick one that seems reasonable to you. Our main interest is seeing if this has something to do with your line of service in general or if we can narrow it down to the phone/app.

Text Message Issue

How in the world can receiving text messages just stop? How? I can send text messages, but I can't receive them. Online support could not solve the problem. Repeatedly pulled the battery, power on/off...nothing brings it back. Any ideas before I either throw this thing against a wall or do the dreaded factory reset?

I know it must be frustrating when you can't receive text messages. I would like to ask you some probing questions and offer some recommendations.
Are you using the standard messaging app or a third party app? Where is this happening? Is it in one specific location or is it in multiple locations? Is it happening with all of your messages or with just certain numbers? Can you receive calls from these numbers or any numbers?
I recommend deleting the messaging threads for starters and creating a new message to see if you can reply. If it is a third party messaging app, try to delete it and then re-download the app.
You can also run the device in safe mode for a while to determine if other apps may be causing the issue. I recommend doing this prior to a hard reset.

Cannot reply to text messages from certain contacts after iOS5 upgrade. Anyone able to help?

I upgraded to iOS5 on my iPhone 4. Since the upgrade, I have not been able to send text messages to certain contacts, I receive messages from them ok, but when I reply, it is unable to send. Any help appreciated - thanks!

Apple offers a ridiculous "solution" for a problem they created.
I recently switched from iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S5. It became clear shortly after activation that I was not receiving texts from other iPhone users.
After a quick search it became clear that the issue was with iMessage. That is, otheriPhone users were sending me texts via iMessage. While this problem appears to be widespread and my search revealed a class action lawsuit against Apple for this issue, there were no viable solutions.
In a nutshell, Apple support told me the ONLY fixes to this issues were to 1. Have all of my contacts delete our text thread and 2. Wait 45 days for iMessage to expire. This is outrageous and not a solution at all.

LG Env3 text message issues

My mom uses a LG Env 3 phone. Recently, she is having issues receiving some text messages. She used to receive a group text message sent from my iphone to her and my sister who also has an iphone. This seems to have stopped worked since my sister and I upgraded to IOS 8. Also, when I send her a picture message now, she gets a message that the retrieval failed, but the message does go through. Because of the failure message, the normal message ringtone does not alert her of the new message. She is also receiving messages that just show as all small squares but I believe this to be messages that contain emoticons. I'm just wondering if upgrading to the LG Extravert 2 or LG Cosmos 3 will make any difference or if she will still have problems receiving messages from newer phones/operating systems. She does not want/need a smartphone at this time. Any advice/insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I apologize for the inconvenience this might be causing. Is she able to recieve messages from other phones? Try deleting old messages to make room for new ones. This will help clear memory on the phone which can be preventing the text messages to appear. Keep us updated.

Calendar, Contact, Text message issue after upgrdading to 10.2.0.415

Dear BB expert,
During using after upgrading to os 10.2.0.415 (1767), I've met some following issues, they make me uncomfortable, and I think everyone like me. Please help to resolve or inform to Blackberry in order to fix in next release.
1. Calendar:
1.1. Calendar always chooses BBLink as default:
When I create an event (by: open Calendar app, pick a day and add an event), app always choose BBLink as default, while I want event is Home (Local Calendar), though I had gone into manage and chosen ‘Home (Local Calendar)' before. I always must choose again. Please help to resolve.
1.2. There are some/a lot of events that I've added before but current I don't remember them, so I must go through each month to look for, this make me inflexible. I want Calendar app has a menu called 'All entry' that When I pick it all events will show as a list. As you see, this thing will be very comfortable.
2. Contact:
2.1. Search field does not show x (clear) when I do not focus there, mean that, When I enter text into search field, press Enter, then pick a contact, after that I go back, text box of search field will not show (x), I must pick it, then (x) icon will be visible. This make me inflexible, uncomfortable, I want search field always show (x). It seems previous os had this thing.
2.2. I don't understand why facebook contact always show in Contact app, though I set it off in Settings, I set again again again, and then everything does not change, It is still showed in Contact, just it. I have Google contact, BBM, BBLink, and they are in off setting. There is only Facebook contact that is always showed.
2.3. How to create group contact in Contact app, this function is a basic function in old device, sometime I send message to a group of contact, how to do it. I want it appears in next release.
3. Message:
As you known, Text message has issue when conversation becomes long (a lot of message in conversation). When I pick a contact in Text message, some time, it is hang/freeze, no message is showed, cannot send new message,…Please fix issue in next release.

Thanks to both of you for your helpful insights. Oracle Support confirms that the OCR has been corrupted. We can start the db using SQL*Plus, but SRVCTL will not start the db. I did a SRVCTL CONFIG and noticed that the cluster database was not listed, so I tried a SRVCTL ADD DATABASE. That failed, too.
We are going to try to restore the OCR from an OCR backup prior to the upgrade. Oracle Support, after analyzing our logs and other configuration data, recommeded Metalink note 371378.1 as a guide to restoring the OCR backup. Other Metalink notes I found in my research, that were helpful, are 259301.1, 275919.1 and 330358.1.
Again, thank you for your insights and suggestions. I will update this thread after we restore the OCR tonight from backup.

TS2755 when is the text message issue going to be fixed?

I am very frustrated with my iphone. Texting is a huge part of my business and communication with children needing to contact me. The texts do not come through, only send sometimes and I am sick of this. The "fixes" dont work, I have only had this phone 6 months and have had my carrier replace it because I thought it was a phone issue. I am very ready to throw this phone into the garbage where it belongs and go back to android. Any suggestions?

SMS is a carrier feature, contact the carrier to troubleshoot.
There is not messaging issue with iOS.

Can't reply to text messages, help?

I can receive text messages (sms) but I cant reply. It just comes up with an error and says try again, which doesn't work. Anyone know why? Thanks.

A lot of times this has to do with the network.
Have you tried hard resetting the device?
Press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until the apple logo appears and then let go and see if that resets things and then try it again and see if the problem presists. If it does call apple and get tech support.

8350i Replying to text messages

When you reply to a text message, it adds the message that you are replying about in your field. Is there a way to turn that off so that is does not put the old message(s) in the field. If I reply to a text I have to clear the field in order to get a blank texting area.

In your Options > SMS, you can set the "number of previous items" to zero, I believe that will do what you wish.

Iphone 4s 5.1 text message issue

i am currently using a factory unlocked iphone 4s that i got direct from apple back in november. i had no problems until i updated to the iOS 5.1 and now i dont receive text messages at least 10 minutes up to 4-5 HOURS after the person sends it. the time stamp that comes in with the text says the time they sent it, and so i can tell i was supposed to receive it hours ago. also, the phone has been acting up, it will pick up some calls but not others. i tried calling from my mom's phone and it rings three times then goes to voicemail, but doesnt show up at all on my iphone call log or missed call log.
help? its BEYOND frustrating when you dont receive texts for 4-5hrs after the other person sends them. is anyone else having this issue? i believe its a bug with the iOS 5.1 because my phone was PERFECT before.

No, T-Mobile is not a supported carrier in the U.S. It's possible that the update makes the phone somehow less compatible with T-Mobile's system. If so, there may not be much you can do about it. However, you can try the standard troubleshooting steps of resetting your phone by holding down the power and Home buttons until the sliver apple appears. If that doesn't work, try restoring the phone as new.

Siri doesn't let me reply to text messages via bluetooth anymore.

When I'm using SIRI via bluetooth while driving, I can ask her for my "text messages" - she is very happy to read me my new text message. After she finished reading a message, she used to say "You can reply or read it again." She doesn't say anything anymore after she reads the text message, so I cannot reply to a text message anymore. If I re-activate SIRI by pressing the button on my bluetooth after I listen to a text message and say "reply," she says "There is nothing to reply to."
Any ideas?

Sending Text Messages Issue- Tampa

Is anyone having problems sending text messages? I can receive text. Data and voice are working. I am in the Tampa bay area. (Brandon/Riverview to be specific)

Hi mufasawc. Let's get to the bottom of these messaging troubles right away. When you say the green arrow is there for a while, how long is a while? Depending on the message length, if there's any attachments, and the signal strength on your phone a message can take anywhere from a few seconds up to 2 minutes to send at times. I'm glad the messaging on Facebook and Chatheads is working out alright, but those will go through your data network a little differently than text. Did the errors on your Droid 4 start after a particular application was installed? If you haven't already, try deleting some of the messages and threads http://vz.to/18APRgp on your phones to help clear up message memory. If you still have the error, please reply with the exact error your getting too.

Cannot reply to text messages

Hello All,
So I bought my wife an Apple watch sport and she loves it except for one thing. When I send her an iMessage she can reply from the watch but if she receives a text message (from her sister or another non-iphone user) then either she doesn’t get the notification on the watch or she gets the notification but no option to reply.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

try turning imessage off on your iphone. wait 30 seconds then turn it back on. that may help

4.4.2 RAZR Maxx HD Battery life and Text messaging issues

So I finally got the update to Kit Kat (4.4.2) over the weekend. After installing I've noticed a couple of problems.
1. The battery life plummeted. I went from lasting about 2 days on a charge to having to recharge after about 12 hours (went from 100% to 32%). Also, the phone was running hot (battery). I checked the apps that were running and found some that I had not used since the update were running and my RAM usage was much higher than normal. I force stopped them and have been running normal for the past 3 days, so I think this may have been a one time thing.
2. What happened to the text message app? I'm getting notifications that I'm getting text messages (the "Messaging" icon will show a orange square with the number of new texts) but it doesn't show me any new text messages. I also get no notification from the Circles widget (in the circle that displays the time) and nothing on the black status bar at the top of the screen, just the Messaging icon. Going into the Messaging app doesn't show any new messages, but the notification on the app remains. If I wait long enough (anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours so far) the message will finally come through (as well as the other notifications). It's like the phone knows I've gotten a text but won't download it for an extended period of time. This makes carrying a conversation via text next to impossible. This is going on as I type. For about 20 minutes I've got a notification on the messaging app that says I've got 1 new text but when I check it there is no new text displayed. The last text showing up is from a few hours ago. What the heck is going on?

I'm sorry you're having issues with the battery on your device bljusn. I know its frustrating and thanks for trying all those steps to correct the issue. The hard reset would be the last step towards fixing some of the issues with your phone. When you perform the hard reset, make sure you don't restore your apps because they could be causing some of the issues with your phone if their not compatible with the new software. We recommend adding them on one by one to check for issues. Keep us posted.

Text Messaging Issues between my family members.

I have one Apple ID that is used between my iPhone, my wife's iPhone, and my son's iPhone. Without knowing exactly what iCloud was, we all turned it on. We quickly learned that all of our contacts were merged together, contact names were changes, etc. So we turned it all off with the exception of "Find My Phone".
Now, when the three of us text message each other, the message from my wife, for example, says it's from me. Or, I will respond to a message to my son, but it will no only go to my son but also to my wife.
How can I get this cleaned up? It only happens betwen the three of us. All other text messaging works properly.

Our message balloons are blue. Quick question: if I turn off iMessage, then it sounds like I would lose the benefit of iMessage (i.e. free messaging to any users using iPhones).
If I were to create separate Apple ID's for each of us, how that effect apps that were purchased? For example, between the three of us, we all have purchased different apps that we all use. If I were to create a totally separate Apple ID, would I need to re-purchase any apps that I already did? Or... what if my wife purchased an app, then I want it as well, would I need to pay for it twice?
