I have following problem:
Ex-1
Table : A1 Table : B1
Query 1 Result Query 2 Result Difference
TYPE QTY TYPE QTY Q1.QTY-Q2-QTY
A 5 A 10
B 0 B 10
C 10 C 5
Q1 and Q2 (both refer to different tables) are linked with TYPE
column but the difference of QTY was tried thru FORMULA which
generated program execution error.Pls help me.

If you want difference in whole quantity of each query then
store the sum of each query at report level place holder and do
the subtraction in the formula column at the report level. Hope
this helps

    As u said that u want to show the results of the queries through report designer but i think it is used for formatted reports .
    If u want to see tha results of diffrent query then u can use workbook .
    In workbook u can also analyse reports easily by applying slice and dice techniques .
    from different queries result set will be displayed on workbook with formatting  and good look and feel.

  • Styling report rows using the query result

    Hello, is it possible to style a row in a report using the values returned by the underlying sql query?
    For example, if my query returns a column called ROW_CLASS I would like to use the placeholder #ROW_CLASS# to style the row, e.g. specifying the row class.
    Apparently such row attributes are not available to the apex developer. For each single column value I can set the "Tabular Form Attributes" and "Column Formatting", but I cannot set anything on the whole row.
    In other words I can style the TDs but not the TRs.
    I think this is clearly a "missing feature" that should be there, single the APEX engine that turns the query result into the HTML that displays the table can already access the column values via their placeholders. It would be sufficient to add some "row attributes" or "row class" field in the report.
    It could be used for lots of useful things, in my particular case, highlighting rows that contain errors.
    Also there is no way to perform that operation in CSS (e.g. get the TRs which contain at least one TD of class "ROWERROR"). I know it could be done in JS, but that's very messy for such a simple declarative problem.

    Per my understanding you are using the report builder 3.0 to design the report and when you click the query designer button to execute the query you got the error message above, right?
    I have tested on my local envornment and your issue can be caused by the user "SQLServer2014\Mubs"  and "mujb-HP\mujb"  haven't grant permission to the report server or the shared dataeource/dataset if you have used this.
    I would like to confirm if you have assigned both the Item-Level and System-Level role of the user above to sucessfully access the report server, If you haven't grant any access to the above user and when you connect to the report server in the report builder,
    you may got the error message:

    Please execute the query in the microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to see if you have permission to execute the query.
    If the query works fine in step1, please run the report builder as Administrator and if you are using the shared datasource/dataset the issue can be cause by the you haven't grant access the share datasource, Double click to open the Datasource

  • Getting query results from a PL/SQL procedure

    Hi! So, I’m a little stumped and I can’t seem to find the answer to what I believe is probably a simple question…
    So, here goes… I have a big ol’ union query that I use to create a report on a page, it’s about 25k – not over the 32k limit, but fails to be able to compile every time (I always get a 400 – Bad Request error). I’m not sure why this is happening, but I can remove a union statement and it compiles just fine – so it has something to do with the size of the query. ANYWAY – I’ve resolved that I should put this bad boy into the database as a stored procedure and just call it from Apex, my problem is I can’t figure out quite how to do this with variables, etc.…
    Instead of giving you my whole big query, I’ll use the emp table as the concept is the same:
    Say we have a query that creates a report on a page:
    select empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, comm, deptno
    from emp
    where job = :P_JOB
    and hiredate >= :P_HIREDATE;
    How would I take this query, create it as a stored procedure on the db, pass the variables from Apex and return the query result set from the stored proc as a report?
    I really appreciate any help on this!

    You should create the query as a View and use the view name and the WHERE clause in the report's sql source.

    Currently, it cannot be guaranteed that SIDs and master data exists for all characteristic attributes for the DataStore object to be read.
    There is a restriction on a navigation attribute of the listed characteristic in the query. This filters all characteristic values of the master-data bearing characteristic for which there is not yet master data out of the result.
    For performance reasons, this filtering is unavoidable.

    Hi,
    The warning is raised due to the following reasons:
      - you have a selection in the filter of a navigation attribute
      - in your DSO you do not use the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation"
    If the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is not flagged,
    you may get char.values for an Infoobject in the system not
    having any SIDs. As a result you may see in the report less data as
    expected.
    For example we have Infoobject A with its Nav.attribute B
      Infoobject A   Nav.attribute B
      12             13   ->> has a SID in the X-table
      11             10
      9              13   ->> has no SID in the X-table
    If you define a selection on B =13 in the query, you only get infoobject
    A with key 12 displayed in the result, since only B =13 has a SID
    in the relevant X-table.
    The warning refers to this behaviour and cannot be avoided unless you:
       - flag the option in the ODS-settings
       - or remove the filter defined on 0MATERIAL__xxxx

  • Saving query results to a flat file

    Hello Experts!
    We have a very specific issue on our current project and I would like to know if any of you have ever done something similar. We are taking query results from BW (after complex calculations, some based on SY-DATE) and saving them to flat files to transfer to a SQL database structure on the Enterprise Portal. From here, the portal team renders the information into more "static" dashboards that include mouse over features and even limited drilldown (i.e. no matter where a user clicks the report always drills down on profit center)
    There are many reasons why the model is set up as such (mostly training of executive level end users), and even though it doesn't mesh with the idea that BW could do this work on its own, we have to work with what we have.
    We have come up with 3 possible ways to save this data to flat files and hopefully someone can tell us which might be the most effective.
    1.) Information Broadcasting. If we broadcast XML files to the portal, will the portals team be able to read that data into a SQL database? Is there another way to use broadcasting to create and send a flat file to specific location?
    2.) RSCRM_BAPI. This transaction seems to not support texts.
    3.) Open Hub. In order to get the open hub to work, we first have to save all of our query results to direct write data store objects using APD. (calculations based on current date, for example, would require daily full loads to the underlying data providers otherwise.)
    What is the best way to accomplish this? Is information broadcasting capable of doing this?

    Hi Adam,
    Do you have to use flat files to load the information to a SQL database? (if so maybe someone else has a suggestion on which way would be the best).
    I try to stay away from flat file uploads as there is a lot of manual work involved. May I suggest setting up a connection to your SQL table in the DBCON table and then writing a small abap program to push data into the SQL database (which you can automate).
    1) Use APD to push data into a table within BW.
    2) Go to transaction SM30 > table DBCON and setup a new entry specifying the conncection parameters to your SQL database.
    3) In SE38 Write an ABAP program along the folloing lines (assuming the connection you set in DBCON is named conn1:
    data: con_name like dbcon-con_name
    con_name = 'conn1'.
    exec sql.
      set connection :con_name
    endexec.
    ****have a select statement which reads data from your table which the data is saved from the APD into an internal table**********
    ****loop on the internal table and have a SQL insert statement to insert the records into the SQL table as below******
    exec sql.
    insert into <SQL TABLE> (column names seperated by ,)
    values (column names of the internal table seperated by ,)  if the internal table is named itab the columns have to be specified as :itab-column1

  • No data in Crystal report created on SAP BW BEx Query

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to create a Crystal report on top of a BW query. I am able to login to the BW system and open the BEx query and the objects are coming into the crystal report.
    But when I drag and drop some objects into the details area and try to preview sample - it does not show any data (it shows accessing database but doesnt bring any data)
    I copied the generated SQL query in to the section in the BW system in transaction code 'MDXTEST' and it runs correctly and shows me the result below there.
    Just to try - I unchecked 'Use MDX..' check box by following the path SAP->Settings to check if that could bring back data ... and YES that worked which means data is not coming from the BW query with MDX connection but when MDX seems to be fine and retrieve result when I run the sql statement in tcode MDXTEST.
    Also when I do preview samples - I can see in SM50 in BW system that it is trying to run the report just that I am not able to see any data in my crystal report.
    Any help in this regards would be greatly appreciated.

    The order of display of attributes in Webi and Crystal report would be different.
    Collapse the infoobject and skim through the attributes, you should be able to find them.

    If you are using SQL*Plus 8.1.6 or later, you can also spool output to a file in HTML format, eg
    SET MARKUP HTML ON SPOOL ON PREFORMAT OFF ENTMAP ON
    SPOOL c:\temp\report.html
    SELECT DEPARTMENT_NAME, CITY
    FROM EMP_DETAILS_VIEW
    WHERE SALARY>12000;
    SPOOL OFF
    SET MARKUP HTML ENTMAP OFF
    In iSQL*Plus 9.0.1 (the browser-based interface to SQL*Plus) onwards, you can also send the HTML output to a new web browser window, or an html file -- much easier than the command line method.

  • Refresh characteristic texts in query result without logoff in Bex 7.0

    Dear Experts,
    I'm using a query in BEx 7.0 and switched off all caching parameters in RSRT. For instantly reloading values from Cube/DSO this is working fine.
    Some of my characteristics are shown as key + text in query result. Unfortulately these texts are not updated during the query reloads. I do not want the user to logoff / logon the report to get the updated texts.
    Interestingly, after a refresh the texts for those characteristics are updated immediately for all filter items, but not in the result area.
    Could you give me a hint, how I will be able to refresh those characteristic texts as same as the values in the infoprovider? E.g. using VBA makros or by customizing of specific workbook settings?

    The setting of this paramter I mentioned there could maybe help in your case.
       transaction "RS_FRONTEND_INIT" add the parameter "ANA_ENHANCE_REFRESH" with value "X"
       o Open the analyzer and connect to system to open WB
       o Click on the refresh button
       o New functionallity "Full Refresh Of Active Queries" is now available.

    The very first challenge; which I encoutered is that I want to transfer a Select query result, with multiple columns, into MS Excel sheet in a way that each field occupies a separate column in the sheet.

    oracle?Excel is capable of holding 65536 rows of data on a sheet.
    Oracle is capable of writing data out to files.
    Oracle does not know or care whether the file it is writing is for Excel or any other product, as the file you are likely to be writing is CSV (comma seperate format) which is an open format, not specifically for Excel. If you need to limit the number of rows per CSV file then you will have to code this "business logic" into your code that produces the CSV file from Oracle.

    Hi guys, I need to find a way to replicate below output. Unfortunately it cannot be done using the column group feature due the fact it will create not so many rows as I need. In the below case it would create
    only four columns. I need 10 columns. Basically for 100 m 6 columns would remain blank . 8 for 200 m .I'm using SRSS 2008R2

    As I understand, you want a fixed number (10) of columns and you want them whether or not there are 10 rows returned by your dataset for a given race.
    What is your dataset?
    What if your dataset returns 15 races of a given type? Do you want 15 columns then?
    Assuming your dataset is TSQL, you can use a matrix in your report if you tweak your dataset query. First, you need to add a "default" set of data that guarantees your 10 columns. This can be done with a set of UNION statements:
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 1 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 2 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 3 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 4 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 5 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 6 AS Ranking

    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 7 AS Ranking
    UNION
    SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 8 AS Ranking

    This gives you the 10 columns. In the matrix, set row group to Race and column group to Ranking. Set the intersecting detail cell to:

    This will give you 10 columns unless you have more than 10 rows returned for a given race.

    You can also insert records into an existing table:
    INSERT INTO TABLEB (colA, colB, colC, etc) SELECT valA, valB, valC, etc FROM VIEWA WHERE etc etc
    This can be done during a page process that runs "Before Header" and you can base your report on the TABLEB. Obviously, you will need to maintain that table to ensure that it is only truncated where necessary, that one user doesn't try to access another user's data on that table and that each time your page is loaded it doesn't try to repopulate the table when you don't need it to.
    Another possiblity is to use a collection - which is user session based

    I know that I can conditionally display a button based on the number of rows returned in a query entered in the condition. However, I have a report region button that I only want to display if any data was returned by a report query. Since I've already executed the query to generate the report, I do not want to execute it again to determine whether any rows were returned. Is there any way to detect whether any rows were returned for a report other than to reissue the query?

    OK, so it looks like it contains the rowcount of the report region rendered just before the variable (apex_application.g_flow_total_row_count) is referenced.
    Sort of like how SQL%ROWCOUNT contains the no. of records affected by the last SQL DML statement.
    Note that the pagination scheme affects the result. In the example above, the 2nd report region is showing 10 rows with a 'Rows X to Y' pagination scheme. So g_flow_total_row_count=11 because I guess the reporting engine has to fetch the 11th row (and discard it) to determine whether to render the 'Next' pagination link.
    If you select a pagination scheme that forces the reporting engine to fetch all the rows 'Rows X to Y of Z', g_flow_total_row_count will always be Z, not the number of rows actually rendered on the screen.

    If you meant a situation like: Page 1 has some items and page 2 has a report which refers page 1 itemsThen your report _query would fetch proper results provided the page 1 item values are available in the session_.
    That is, after submitting their values(using page submit,dynamic action,ajax etx) to session state , their values would be available in any page (anywhere in that session ) , until the page cache for the item page(page 1) is cleared.
