One Day i was In my room looking at my Twitter when my aunt asked me to see if i would let her use my ipod 4 the rest of the night. I sayd Sure! and then the next day when i asked her 2 give it back to me, she sayd she Has Lost It. And she Also lost some Diamond Necklaces the same day!!!

I lost my ipod touch 5th generation(32GB) at a club yesterday, its registered in my icloud and I have put it in lost mode but it really doesn't help me, problems are its dead, well it died the very last time I had it on me, it needs a passcode to access it and since its an ipod it needs wifi to connect to any internet in order to track it from icloud... now if someone found it and tries to sell it or pawn it how can I report it stolen, I still have the box with the serial number, would I have to tell the police the serial number?

You can't track it with the serial number. If you had an iPod Touch running iOS 5 later AND set up Find my IPod on it, then there is a chance you might be able to locate it by going to www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID and clicking Find my IPod. Of course, the iPod still needs to be on and connected to a Wi-Fi network in order for it to be located.
If nothing else, report it to the police and change any and all passwords to any accounts you set up or used on the iPod.
Apple otherwise cannot help you.

Dara, I'm sorry to hear your iPod Touch is gone, but there is no such place to report a loss to Apple. If you believe it was stolen the only place to record such theft is with your local law enforcement.
Its serial number can be retrieved by logging in to https://supportprofile.apple.com/ with your Apple ID - same one you used to log in here.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

I am not sure what you mean by "too late".
Just visit your nearest police station and report it, or report it to the facility where you lost it.
You don't report it to Apple at all.

No. Apple does not look for lost or stolen devices. Call your local police.

There is nothing you can do to block it.February 2009 was a long ways away even if there was something to have been done. I hope you have another iPod to enjoy by now.

Apple does not get involved in things of that nature. Not too much different than GM and Ford not getting involved in locating stolen cars. That's why we have police.
Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

I believe that someone else on this board stated that Apple does not track stolen iPods. However, you can report that an iPod was stolen to the police. Considering your situation, you may want to contact Apple though, and tell them what happened. They may give you some sort of reimbursement/help due to it being lost in shipment. However, as always, don't expect anything.
If you ever need to contact Apple, you can call this number: 1800-MY-APPLE. When you do, they'll list off several options from which you can choose for the specific type of help that you need.

Hey fashion fix97, Sorry to hear you lost your iPod. Knowing the serial number is of little use. Apple will do nothing to help find your iPod. Report the iPod lost / stolen to the police. Try looking at lost and founds if lost in a public area. You'll have to go physically look for iPod like it was a lost wallet. To protect your personal information and limit a thief's access, change all account info and passwords associated with this iPod. Good luck. Cheers.
