Report after Sync

Hi, I'm a new iPhone 3GS user. In the past I used Nokia PC Suite on my computer. PC Suite produces a report after each "sync", showing all the items that were updated. Is there anything available like that for the iPhone?
Thanks in advance.
John

No, not what you are asking for. There IS a sync log, but it just reports parameters, and errors (if any). You can find the logs in:
*C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs* on Windows XP, similar locations on other platforms.

  • No music on iPod after sync

I've been having a problem with syncing music to iPod gen4 and and iPod gen3 for some time now.  There are similar issues reported in a variety of questions on this forum:  after syncing, apparently successfully via iTunes, you disconnect the iPod and the iPod appears to have no music on it.  However, I have not been able to find any that present to me a working solution, nor have a found a discussions which shares particular details of the situation that I am experiencing.
After a "no music on iPod after sync" experience, the iPod will no longer function properly after this, and you have to put it into disk mode in order to connect to the computer and "do a restore."    The first time this happened, I didn't know about restoring, and actually discarded the iPod (a gen 3) and replaced it with my first gen 4.  Now I have an additional gen 4 (my 2nd), plus I also purchased a used gen 3 to replace the one I threw away.   Each of these three devices has experienced the problem, and I can get the device functioning again after restore.   All the devices seem to be in good working shape and serve me fine; I do not believe that any of them has a hardware problem such as failing hard drive etc.
The problem of "no music on iPod after sync" can be created in a repeatable fashion by choosing the appropriate set of playlists to sync.  I visited an Apple Store genius bar twice now to discuss the issue, and the conclusion was that there possibly was a "corrupt file" that was causing the problem.  However, I can also reliably sync the music by splitting it into smaller pieces.  For example, suppose I have a group of 20 playlist folders, and I choose to sync the first 10.  This can be done without problem.  If I then choose to sync the last 10 but without the first 10, this also can be done without problem.   However, if I sync all 20 together, then I get the "no music" screen on the iPod after the sync.   So I can load and play all the music files involved with my problem.  What seems to be associated with the occurrence of a "no music" event is the volume of songs that I sync.
I am working with a large number of audio files organized into a large number of playlists arranged in a somewhat large number of playlist folders, some nested inside others.  I suspect that a cause of the problem may be the large number of files and/or playlists and/or folders.
For instance, in my latest experience, I worked with a collection of files that I have sitting all together in one playlist folder, that itself sits inside a higher level playlist folder..  In this collection there are 4358 "songs" (the audio files aren't actually music) occupying 1.68 GB of memory. So I have one playlist folder (level 1, let's say) that contains within it a playlist (sub)folder (level 2) that has within it 36 playlist folders (level 3), each with a set of playlists inside that together account for all 4358 songs, without any repetitions of the songs between playlists. Some of the playlist folders contain as many as 206 playlists.  The playlists vary in the number of songs they contain; I think there are some with just one or two, and I now there are some with at least 32 songs.
Anyway, with the above described collection, I can sync the first half of the set of level 3 playlist folders without problem.  I can sync the second half of the level 3 playlist folders without problem.  But if I sync all together, I have problems.
Any ideas as to what's going on here?

Verify you have the itunes/ipad music tab set to sync music and the correct playlists selected.

  • Events after syncing with Palm

After syncing with my Palm, iCal has spread many but not all one-day events over two days. For instance, Halloween in iCal is now a two day holiday from October 30 through October 31. My cousin's birthday is now two days long as well. BUT, Easter is still just one day, as is my father's birthday. It's really weird. The two day spread does not happen on my Palm.

Other users have reported this very same issue after updating to iOS 5.
If you are using iCloud, try changing a contact in your iCloud.com. Then see if the Edit button reappears in the Contacts App.
I can no longer designate a custom title for additional email addresses within a contact. I can edit contacts and add new ones, I just cannot designate an additional email address for a particular contact as home, or work, or any of the other titles that should be available. iOS 5 has caused some weird glitches for some of us.

  • IPod screen shows no songs after sync, but iTunes says they are there

After syncing my iPod to my iTunes, the menu on the iPod shows no songs. iTunes says they are there and so does Winamp, but I can't see them by navigating the menu.
The only things that changed since my last sync are some ratings and a new playlist.
This has happened to me before. Usually it is resolved by rebooting my PC to make sure the iPod drivers are loaded. I tried rebooting my iPod (holding down Menu and Select), but that didn't do it either. I would like to avoid having to wipe the iPod and re-copy everything. And since this has happened before, it will probably happen again.
I can't upgrade my iTunes to the latest version because Apple stopped releasing W2k versions. Thanks in advance.
    -Alan

I have that issue also. I ripped a few cd's, attached the ipod, synced it, but my libraries disappeared. "About" says there's 20+ gigs of something on there, but nothing in any menu. I scanned the ipod with Panda, no malware. I took the ipod to Geek Squad, and the Head Geek suggested reformatting from windows, and then reinstalling software with itunes. Did that, hour later, same situation. 20 gigs of nothing, even though itunes reported it had transferred over 6,000 mp3's. Ipod just isn't recognizing anything on it as music, but it worked fine up until the re-sync, and I hadn't done it for awhile, so I am now guessing there's a bug in the newest software, and it isn't a hardware issue at all.
On another note entirely, does anyone else find it strange that Apple's discussion page spell checker regards ipod and itunes as misspelled words?

  • After syncing with iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support uses 83-99% of CPU

After syncing with iTunes 10.4.0.80, everything becomes very slow on my XP Home PC with 2G RAM.  Apple Mobile Device is reported as using 83-99% of the CPU cycles.  Shutting down and restarting Apple Mobile Device solves the problem and reduces CPU cycles to 0%.  (I have written a small batch program to stop and restart the Apple Mobile Device to achieve this.)  Does anyone have any thoughts about why the Apple Mobile Device process won't release when the sync is finished?

i deleted itunes and mobile support and now when i reinstall itunes the mobile support does not come back with it as when it tries to install that it just says rolling back after it is almost done
The AMDS install roll-back (on XP) can be caused by old driver componentry "stuck" in the bowels of your OS. If that's what is going on, we can get past this ... but I'm afraid it's a bit of a performance.
First, go into "My Computer". Go "Tools > Folder Options". Go to the view tab.
Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
Make sure "Hide extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked.
Make sure "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in "My Computer", open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive your Operating System is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
    Open the "DRVSTORE" folder.
In there look to see if you have either of the following two folders:
    netaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
    usbaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
If you find either of them, drag them out onto the desktop. (Don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
Now go back into the "system32" directory.
    Open the "Drivers" directory.
Look for either of the following two files:
    netaapl.sys
    usbaapl.sys
If you see either of them in there, drag them out onto the desktop. (Again, don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
Now restart the PC. Uninstall iTunes again, and then try reinstalling it again. Does Apple Mobile Device Support install this time?

  • I just bought a new iPod 160GB (my iPod 120GB crashed).  After syncing my music from iTunes on the new iPod, the music doesn't nearly as good as on the other iPod

I just bought a new 160GB after my 120GB crashed.  After syncing my new iPod with my music in iTunes, I'm noticing the music isn't as clear or bassy as it was on my old iPod.  The EQ is off on the new one just as it was on the old iPod so that isn't the issue.  Anyone have any ideas why I'm having this problem?

Are you comparing it off earphones, iPod issued earplugs or Hifi Stereo deck?
The new 160GB iPod Classic, have been reported to have poorer audio quality than earlier 5th Gen models. Even using EQ Bass booster make it much worse, but not too sure about your 120GB model,
My thoughts - it was due to the Audio chip replacement, but then your 120GB Audio chip would be about the same as the 160GB 6th Gen, but maybe the firmware 1.1.2 codec handling was better. Your 160GB firmware would be 2.0.4
But some people has full of praise for the new 160GB, saying his music sound 'heavenly',
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17122334#17122334
so it depends on the genre of music you like, but some people are happy by just switching from low to high impedance headphones or vice versa.
    Have a nice day!

  • HT201272 I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else.

I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else. My phone is not syncing properly, I wanted to add another playlist to it that I created on my Mac. I pluged in my phone and made sure the playlist I wanted to add was checked to be on my phone when I synced.
The playlist I wanted to add was "Country." It is clearly checked. I also wanted to add the "Recently Added" playlist, which I also checked before sycing. Currently, my phone only has the "Purchased" playlist and my "All Songs" playlist on it. When I hit sync, iTunes added another playlist automatically added another playlist to the list above and checked it. It was titled "ALL SONGS 1" and had ten fewer songs in it than the playlist I had created, "ALL SONGS" had. This playlist, however does not show up on my phone after syncing, nor does "Country" or "Recently Added." (Every time I sync, another playlist is created as "ALL SONGS 2, 3, 4, etc.") One of the songs (I have not, yet checked the other songs) that I purchased from within iTunes Radio shows up in the "ALL SONGS 1" on this screen:
But does not show up anywhere else. This playlist does not show up anywhere but the two screens above. The ALL SONGS 1 or 2 playlists do not show up here:
When I search for those song in my library, it shows that I do not have them:
But if I go to the iTunes store, I get the play button and not the price of the song:
This is what things look like from my phone's side of things:
"Summertime Sadness," one of the songs I bought from iTunes Radio, does not show up in the iTunes store under purchased "All" or "Not on This iPhone"
But, it does show up under "Recent Purchases"
Also, this is what playlists are on my phone after syncing a million times:
Only what was on there before I started any of this. "Summertime Sadness" and the other songs I bought from inside iTunes Radio, do not show up in either of these playlists. Please, help me.

  • Caller id not working after syncing my iphone to my pc?

caller id not working after syncing my iphone to my pc?

Syncing with iTunes has nothing to do with this, especially when not syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer which very few Windows users seem to be inclined to do.
Caller ID is not working in which way?

  • I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

There are songs in my library that do not show up on my ipod after syncing.

  • Songs purchased on iPhone through iTunes Store will not show up on iPhone after syncing with iTunes

I recently purchased iTunes Match (about a month ago).  Since purchasing Match, any songs that I have bought on my iPhone 4S (32GB, Sprint) through the iTunes Store app will not sync back to my iPhone after syncing with iTunes on my computer.  I have iOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54.  The only way I can get them to show back up in my iPhone music library so I can play them is by re-downloading the songs through the iTunes Store app.  Which is super annoying because now it is about 10 songs that keep doing this, and they are in multiple playlists.  Is anyone else having this problem and have you found any fixes?  Really regretting purchasing the iTunes Match (which is not enabled on my iPhone, just on my computer).

How to create custom ringtones ...
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
    3. Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
    4. Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
    5. Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
    6. Click the "Options" tab.
    7. Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
    8. Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
    9. Click "OK."
    10. Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
    11. Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
    12. Click on the "Keep Files" button.
    13. Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
    14. Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
    15. Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
    16. Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
    17. Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
Oh, also to change a file extension. (not sure on Mac), but in Windows you need to go to "control panel" select "folder options". You need to uncheck the box "hide file extension for known file types". This will allow you to view and change the files extensions.
    Hope this is useful ...

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6.  In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings.  After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download.  There is not enough available local storage to download these items.  You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone?  Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:
