Report Broadcasting in BO

Hi All,
Basically I'm a BI resource and exploring some if the BO functionality to be implemented nest project.
My Question is, like we can schedule broadcasting of work book or report in BI through e-mail in BI-Bex.
Is there any such functionality in BO?

Yes, BO has the facility to do all these. You need to configure some server settings. you should work on SMTP settings and report scheduling part to work this kind of stuff...

How to edit template for report broadcast

Hi,
my client publish the report thru information broadcast in PDF.
The report show the dynamic selection and variable selection information at the top of the report content and they want to remove it as it consume half page for this.
How can go to the report template they are using ? I see it has the company logo on page header so i guess it was already modified somewhere but I don't find this in SPRO...the fields there is blank.

Regretfully, you are correct that they have probably created a copy of one of the standard WAD templates that control the PDF print out - if it was a standard template you could go into the WAD and just do a search on anything starting with 0* and you would see something like QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70 - or one similar.
but what you will need to do now is find that template that is being used - it may be that they altered the standard 0 template - go review that first. If you find that template you will see that it will have some web items that you can change or adjust - this is where you will be able to alter the format.
either remove or filter those web items that you need changed on the PDF file print out.

Report Broadcasting error

I need help while broadcasting Collection Report region wise. I have created 21 variants for this report and saved it as new workseet in Roles AR. Then I have choosen Distribute on web and given all the variants and schedules and executed it. I dont think if there is any error in the selection on web. I think there is an error while there saving the work sheet.
Can some one explain me steps while saving the worksheet to distirbuting the worksheet. when to save it as new worksheet and to distribute
I am getting these errors when I have executed for the test run I have given smtp address but I never got any reply when my manager shown an example I got an mail immediately now when I have done for another report it is not coming

Report broadcasting design....

Hi all,
I have to send the report at every month end to our respective users useing information broadcasting in pdf format based on the authorization on cost center.
For example : I have to send the "XXX" report to three users based on the cost center authorization .(User A having the auth 1000 and user B " 2000" and C "3000).
I know how to use the information broadcasting and usage of authorization varibles.
My question is while sending in PDF format after execuating the report we are sending the result to user.So how system recognize the cost center authorization to execuate the report and sending to the respective users.

I developed the report in BeX ....it is fine...(I maintain the all auth objects ,roles ).If user execuate the query ,there is no problem. And also I am aware of the option s of sending the report to users.
But my question is i have to send the report result to user inbox based on his cost center auth .
Here no input from the user to execuate the report ,system have to take care the what ever the CC are have ing the auth by users (For ex User A ..Haveing the auth on 1000 CC) system have to execuate the report for the CC 1000 and then that report have to send to the user A inbox only.And continue for other users....

WAD report broadcasting as PDF error

Hi,
I am trying to broadcast a report in PDF format. The report is from a web template that has a table of 2 rows and 4 columns with 8 chart web items. But the PDF file displays only one graph in a row instead of the 4 defined in the template. What can I do to correct this?

As i understood that you have 4 Graphs in each row, and u have 2 rows.
The first row has a graph and Table of 2*4 matrix.
But the problem is u r getting only 1 Graph per row in the PDF.
If this is the case:-
I hope this might be the page cutter problem when converting from WEB page to PDF.
Please check the Page settings in the Wed item properties.
If possibel limit it to a sizw where you can see 1 table and 4 Graphs in your web reports itself, so that you have the same in PDF.
User the Insert table options befor putting any beb tiems on toi the Web designer page, it will help you in organize the web items in a proper way.

Report broadcast problem

Hi,
Daily we are broadcasting the reports through process chains and some reports through normal schedlues.today when I am trying to execute manually they are not broadcasting and in SM50 I cant see any log.
In sost also there is no reports available to broadcast and the broadcast server is keep on going om offline.Can you please any suggest what could be the problem.

The option of scheduling in some reports through process chains and some more reports we sheduled the time.those are not scheduled acording to the time and so when I try to execute manually ,I am not able to send the,.In sost also I can't see any emails to send.I dont see any setting problem In SE38 executing some programs but unsucessfull.

Broadcasting Error Reports

Hello Gurus,
We have few reports which get broadcasted on a weekly basis. The error reports are on the ODS objects and broadcasting was happening fine till last week. The automation is made using the Process chains where we are using the ABAP program RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER and the respective reports are the variant for each process type. Today the process chain failed at one of the process types with an error as "No log found(in main memory)". The failed step is in the last. I have few questions related to this:
a. If the failed step of the process chain is in the last, then can I have the remaining successful steps getting broadcasted as they went green in process chain
b. As I did not get any reports broadcasted, now how do I send the reports to the users as of now for this week
c. If I try to execute the RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER and give the variant as the report in SE38 manually, will it broadcast the queries(as the settings are already defined).
Please clarify.

Ideally, as the other process chain steps have completed succesffully, those would have broadcasted. However,If you could see the SOST monitor, you can get an idea of what reports have been broadcasted and to whom and when.
Yes, you can run the report in SE38 and manually execute the broadcasting with the right variants.

In BI 7.0 is it possible to run a report in web analyzer, change it around, save it as a view and then email busrt the view to users inboxes?
Also we used to be a ble to save views in analyzer 3.5 but I cant seem to find this option in 7.0, is this still possible?
Finally, I recently introduced broadcasting to my users...big mistake. Now they want every slight variation of there reports broadcast. This would of course leave us with enormous amounts of reports being broadcast which may not necessarily be value adding. Can anyone suggest a strategy / criteria to follow to avoid a maintenance nightmare and broadcast overload

---> obviously, there is would be workload to the system and maintainance won't be that much. If users are connected to the system, then you should teach them how to uses web reports.

Report distribution by cost centre

We would like to know if there are any threads or links that explain how to circulate a cost centre report that only contains values according to the recipients home cost centre.
That is, person A receives his / her respective cost centre data; person B receives the same report, but with only their cost centre data etc... automated circulation according to a common schedule.
We need this solution to email the reports (probably in PDF format) to each user automatically, according to a pre-determined schedule.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

File access/locking problems, most notably with AutoCAD

A number of sporadic problems of AutoCAD users who've been working away
suddenly not able to write to the file they've been working on. If
multiple people try to use the same Xrefs, often some will get that the
file is corrupted report by AutoCAD.
What is reproducible is one of the Xref problems and it has given us a
bit of a work around to keep working.
To Reproduce:
Start AutoCAD(2009), open a file with base(Xref)
Save the base (no change needed) without closing, and refresh
the base disappears from view, and when we look in the 'Xref Manager'
we see that the Base has a status of 'Needs Recovery'. This applies
even when multiple people had the Xref in read only view, that it is
now unavailable, but when the full drawing is shut down and reopened
by the one who had saved, the Xref is just fine.
Autosave is not triggering the problem.
This has been reproduced on the newest version of ACAD as well, just
slightly different wording of errors.
OES2 sp3 servers (in VMWare) with mostly XPsp3 clients but a few
Windows 7 ones as well. The clients mostly have the newest clients
installed, but there are some of the XP boxes with 4.91.4 still on
them.
Just migrated the main data volume from NetWare 6.5.8 to OES2 Linux and
immediately started having the problem. 100% of file access is via
NCP. no CIFS is configured, to the point we have cross-protocol-locks
set to 0 (Zero, i.e. Off).
I think I've been through every combination of file locking settings of
server vs workstation without any apparent change.
Still working out different tests to do to find what makes a
difference.
Observations that might just lead to clues toward the root cause:
- On NetWare, if a user left files open over night, we could still see
those being listed as opened in Monitor. Past history with these users
is that there was always several showing as open every night even when
we were sure they'd all been gone for hours. Now when we check the all
the volumes late in the evening, they've been showing no files open.
perhaps that is a clue to a problem in lock tracking.
- While still at OES2 sp2, the pilot team kept giving vague
descriptions of problems using ACAD against files on OES2, but those
all went away after applying SP3, so after 2 months of one small group
running ACAD against files stored on OES2-linux, we migrated the bulk
of the data as the last volume from a failing NetWare 6.5.8 cluster
(recreating SBDs was getting tiring).

Hi Hans,
i have just helped a customer to migrate their data from NW65SP8 to OES2SP3 and hit the same problem with the CAD group using AutoCAD 2004 on Windows XP with NC491SP3 + some Postpatches
Do we have a release date for the next OES2 SP3 Scheduled Maintenace Patch?
The last available is from May and has been apparently released the 31st of May.
Do we have a chance to get the ftf in someway?

Alternative to GarageBand for creating chapters in podcasts?

Now that GarageBand no longer has podcast-creation-specific features, I'm wondering if there's another way to create chapters in podcasts. Anyone know? I know I can just keep using the old version, but I'd like to find a solution that hasn't been discontinued.

Addressing your comments:
- Regarding pricing - unfortunately the podcasting and radio markets are not that big. Selling it for "a decent price and getting more customers" assumes that there are a lot of people that actually would buy software to make a podcast. Our analysis is that this is not the case - if we lower our price we will not sell significantly more copies of our software. $95 for a highly advanced software tool is not much compared to the price of a microphone or whatever recording device you use for your podcast, is it?
- "Your website is out of date, the registered trademark of your company site is 2011" - Normally a trademark date is the date a trademark is registered - it doesn't really change. I'm not quite sure what you are refering to.
- "I find it hilarious that you chose the company name to be Hindenburg Systems... Hindenburg crashed and burned" - A little radio history, the event of the Hindenburg crashing is one of the most important daes in radio/recorded story history. It was the first ever mobile news report and the first ever report broadcast coast-to-coast. Besides that, Hindenburg is a surname, so there are other connotations than the limited history of one event in Lakehurst in 1937.

Saving layout in query executed in the web

Hello Experts,
Problem Faced:
I am facing a problem when my key user is executing the report in BEX Analyzer. As there are very huge records the query is giving an error after long period.
Soultion Proposed:
Asked him to execute the query in WEB and save the report to excel.
He is fine with that to execute in web and save the file in Excel
Now the requirement for him is:
By adding or removing columns, changing subtotals, sorts, etcetera and then once that we have decided which information do we need and how it should be presented we want to save the definition of this u201Clayoutu201D in order to choose it the next time that we run the report and to avoid to do once again all those changes on the web.
He is able to do all thses things when executed in Analyzer.
Could you please let me know if thses options are possible when executing the query in the WEB.

Sol 1: save as view for that web report.
Sol 2: use broadcasing to send him the report (broadcast from workbook).
