Report builder doesn't connect

Hi All,
I ran into a problem where I can not connect the report builder and forms runtime to database.
I am using oracle 10g 10.1.0.2.0 and forms and reports 6.0. and I am trying to connect through NT 4.0.
I am able to connect to database through forms builder and able to run the forms froms and calling reports from within the forms. But whenever I try to connect through forms runtime or report builder I received ORA-12203 error.
Actually I just shifted the database from on machine to another high specs one, and since then I got this trouble...earlier it was ok...
I tried to recreate the tnsnames.ora file through net manager ver. 9.0 but it still the same.
Any help on this please. Best Regards.

Please check for another existence of the tnsnames.ora file.
As you are using Forms 10 and Reports 6 you may different Oracle Homes and each will have a separate tnsnames file unless you defined a central one.

  • Reports Builder doesn't start in Windows 2000

    Hi all,
i've installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 2000 Pro (SP4). Installation procedure ends succesfully, but when i try to launch Reports Builder the process rwbuilder hangs up.
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks. Matteo.

Hi Jon, thank you for your support.
I've stopped my scan virus, but the process rwbuilder still hangs up...and my path name doesn't contains any spaces!
    Other ideas?
I've installed Developer Suite 10g and Enterprise Manager 10g in the same machine, but in different Oracle Home and the only Reports Builder doesn't work...the other applications (SqlPlus, Forms Builder etc..) works fine!

  • Report Builder Can't Connect after IP Change

I can write the queries that I need to but continually run into issues with SRS and its Report Builder
Someone moved the report server onto another LAN and it has a new IP.  All the reports can still connect to the data source and so work just fine.
When I launch Report Builder 2 from the Report Server/Report itself, it pops up that "connection failed" and follows up with "Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL"
Basically I need to configure it to point to itself I guess but that seems to not be happening.  The changes were already in the report manager when I went to check them.  I have no idea how long it's been this way.
I've attached a pic to show the successful connection to report server, but bad from report builder.  Also the configuration of the report server.
I found posts related to proxy but that can't possibly help b/c the thing is looking for an IP that doesn't exist!  It's own has changed.

    Hi Kirkee,
According to your description, after someone moved the report server to another LAN and a new IP, all the reports can still connect to the data source and work fine. When you launch Report Builder 2 from report manager or report, you got the error message.
The error message "Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server specified URL <Report Server URL>" means we are not able to connect to the Report Server. We can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Open the Web Services URL (known as Report Server URL) in the Internet Explorer (IE). Make sure it is able to open it.
Try to use IP to access the Report Server from the Report Builder.
Run the Report Builder under the domain account (Press key SHIFT and then right click the Report Builder, click 'Run as different user').
Check the Reporting Services error logs (by default, it can be found from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles).
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • ColdFusion Report Builder and RDS connection

I'm trying to build report in CF report builder 8. Under the RDS server connection I have
    Description: TEST
    HostName:  ColdFusionServerHost
    Port:            8001
I don't have the RDS PWD.
When I hit Test connections it gives me the following message:
The RDS server was successfully contacted, but your security credentials were invalid...
If I hit OK and go to Query builder I don't see and DB. Is there a way around this....
    Any help is appreciated...

    Exactly the same problem here

None of the obvious steps works.

  • Report Builder - Unable to connect to data source

When I attempt to connect to the data source in Report Builder 3.0 with CM 2012, I receive the following error message: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: SSL Provider,
error: 0 - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted.)
Any suggestions on how to help?

You also need it on the client machine running report builder.  Here's the instructions I sent my DBA:
    Start>run>mmc>file>add/remove snapins>certificate>Computer Account>Local Computer>Certificates>Personal>Certificates>Issued to: Name of server
Look at each cert.  On the 3rd tab (Certification Path) it should say “ConfigMgr SQL Server Identification
    Certificate”.  Export that cert.
Then on the machine running report builder, import the certificate to the local computer trusted root.
Perfect ... Finally following this instruction solve reporting connection error and reporting services is now running perfectly.

  • Report builder connect to datasource outside of the network

    Hi,
Locally, we installed report server on Machine (A) and the sql Server on Machine (B).
My machine is also in the same network and via Report builder i can connect to report server and create shared dataset.
but outside of network, when i use report builder i can connect to report server but i cannot create shared dataset : there is window appears titled "Enter data source credentials" demanding to enter login/password.
I entered the same login/password defined in datasource created in report server but i obtained this message:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
how i can resolve it ?

Disabling the windows firewall doesn't mean that there isn't a network firewall.  Try using a port scanning utility from outside your network to see if the port is being filtered (behind a firewall), listening, or being blocked.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24009
You'll need to scan the port have configured for your report server URL, found through reporting server configuration manager in the advanced settings. Typically this is going to be port 80 or 443, but it could have been adjusted to something else, like
    8080.

    Hi,
    1. Please make sure you can browse this URL http://servername/reportserver in MS internet explorer.
    2. Please make sure the URL is of SSRS 2008 report server, Report builder 2.0 can not work with SSRS 2005.
3.If the operating system is Vista or window 2008, please use "Run as administrator" to open your Report Builder 2.0, or turn off the UAC.
By the way, open the MSReportBuilder.exe.config file (by default, it is stored at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Report Builder 2.0) to configure the report server url.
    Hope this help,

  • How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database

i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
know the exact syntax. I've tried :
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
    it worked perfectly.
However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
    appreciate your assistance

    Hi Gorgo,
According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

  • Report builder TfrmconfiguredHSDRS error

I am getting an error when I try to create a RDS Server on my laptop version of report builder.  The error is in a pop up window and says: Object: TfrmconfiguredHSDRS  Exception: List index out of bounds (2)   See error log for stack trace.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.  I have a desktop running same op sys and CF versions and all is well.  Compared the CF settings for RDS with the laptop and no difference.
Any idea what to do to get past this?
    Thanks!

    Hi nikp11,
According to your description, you recently updated SQL Server 2008 R2 to SP3, Report Builder doesn’t work since then the error occurs: "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue".
This is an known issue in SSRS 2008 R2 SP3 that Microsoft has published an article addressing this issue. It is not planning to release a fix for this issue. But we could implement one of the following workarounds:
Install and run Report Builder 3.0 of SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM.
Install and run Report Builder of SQL Server 2014.
Uninstall Service Pack 3 then uninstall Service Pack 2 and then reinstall Service Pack 3.

  • Report Builder RDF, XML, REP and Version Control

I'm looking to convert our existing RDF reports to XML format to better support version control and have a few questions.
    - Are there any issues with converting these RDF files to XML and developing them going forward?
    - When it's time to deploy to the server we'll convert them to RDF or REP. Any issues?
    - This question was asked before, [Thread: Oracle Reports Builder - RDF vs XML|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=721959], but that was over 3 years ago. Have the issues been resolved?
    - Is anyone currently following the workflow I've outlined with success?

    Hi Michael,
Per my understanding that you want to find a solution for version control when you design the report using the Report Builder 3.0, right?
As you know that Report Builder is a tool which can only work on one single file instead of a project , so the current version of Report Builder doesn't have these capabilities. You can submit a feature request about it on the  Microsoft UserVoice site
    here:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/category/53187-sql-bi-tools-srs-ssis-ssas-
Generally, visual Studio Team System and Visual Source Safe integrate with the Visual Studio/BIDS shell and third-party source control solutions like SVN managed from the file system play well with version control. So I would suggest you to consider use
    them instead.
In conclusion, one possible workaround for you is that you can save all .rdl files in third part tool’s(TFS) workspace folder for version control purpose (check in, check out with the Windows Shell Extension), and you can use Report Builder to edit these
report files. Then use Report Builder to deploy the .rdl file to Report Server.

  • Querying Excel file in Report Builder 3.0

I set up an ODBC connection in Report Builder 3.0, connected to my Excel sheet as my data source, and I can set up a data set that queries one sheet at a time fine. But can I join two sheets in a data set query? I always get "Syntax error in FROM
clause." I thought I could use basic SQL syntax in the query and it would be fine. Is there a certain syntax or trick, or can this just not be done?

    Hi (datasci),
You can create a linked server in SSMS, then create a procedure to join three sheets. Then you can call the procedure in a dataset.
As we tested in our environment, we create a linked server and the procedure like below:
    --linked server
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
    @server = 'ExcelServer',
    @srvproduct = 'Excel',
    @provider = 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
@datasrc = 'c:\Book3.xls.xlsx', -- the path in the server where SQL server locates
    @provstr = 'Excel 12.0;IMEX=1;HDR=YES;'
EXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'ExcelServer', 'false'--, 'sa', 'Admin', null
    go
    --procedure
    CREATE PROC proce2
    as
    SELECT a.Name,a.Amount,b.PtNo,b.value,c.Gender
    FROM ExcelServer...[Sheet1$] as a
    left join ExcelServer...[Sheet2$] as b on a.Name =b.Name
    left join ExcelServer...[Sheet3$] as c on c.PtNo =b.PtNo
Then we call the procedure in the dataset, we get the expected result:

  • SQL 2012 Report Builder + UAG

Quick description of setup:  I have 4 total SharePoint servers, 2WFE's, 2APP's, and a SQL Cluster.  I am using SQL 2012, + I have installed the reporting services add-in for SQL 2012 and have gone through the entire setup.  Everything works,
KCD, stored credentials, I am able to create reports within report builder, launch report builder and so on... When I publish the site using UAG, report builder fails to connect to the report server, in this case either of the WFE's in the farm.  I thought
initially it was "body parsing" since looking at the diagnostic logs I noticed that the request coming in looked as if the /_vti_bin/ReportServer/ portion was missing and all I saw was "sitename.something.local:443/ReportService2010.asmx".  I added some
entries to skip body parsing and that didnt seem to work at all.
Running FIDDLER - I noticed that when I launch report builder, there is a 302 redirect to the main trunk, or the trunk to which the site is published on.  I see a bunch of 302's, and it just stops.. never connects.  When I try to connect from within
report builder, I get an error saying "cannot connect to https://sitename.fqdn"  make sure the url is correct and or you have permissions.
It seems to me that report builder does not work through UAG.  Can anyone suggest a fix?

    Hello,
I have a same issue, after search, they are saying to make delegation if you are using Kerberos but it didn't work either, so is there any configuration needed.

  • Can Coldfusion Report Builder Lock .MDB Files?

I have been seeing an issue where an .mdb file will be locked into a read only mode state. There is no .ldb lock file on the object, but when I open the DB up a banner pops up at the top stating it is in read only mode. While it is in this mode it cannot be queried by CF pages and nothing on the site works.
If I rename the same file to soemthing else it works find. If I rename it back to its original name it says it is locked and will not respond. I have been trying to figure out what has a hold o f the .mdb file when this is happening.
Yesterday afternoon I was working in the coldfusion report builder and was connected to the datasource .mdb through the rds server. I am now wondering if it is report builder that is locking the DB.
Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone ever seen issues like this?

I have never found a solution. It is a problem specific to report builder and PDFs. If you output to flashpaper it will work fine. If you output in coldfusion directly to pdf, it is fine as well with Cyrillic. I have just given up and used flashpaper for a little while longer though would prefer going to pdf for longevity and ease for the users of saving the documents.
May not hurt to post a bug report specifically for this one. I didn't know this tool existed. It does seem like a bug because the fonts that I have tried to use have Cyrillic available, it just can't deal with them.
