Hi,
I have a multiple value parameter, with four specified default values (integers). When opening my report in Edit mode in the Report
Builder, and then pressing "run", I can see the default parameters in the upper section on the screen, and they are acting fine on the report. However, when opening the report from the Report
Manager (by double clicking it from there), the default values have disappeared and I have to fill them in manually. However, the values are not 100% forgotten, because when opening the "manage" section using the drop down
menu in the Report Manager, my default values are there, shown in the list.
Did I do something wrong? Is this a bug? What can I do to solve this?
Nb.:
I'm using SSRS 2012
Dataset created by the query "select parameterID from table group by parameterID"
The full set of parameters are collected by using the above dataset as input for "get values from a query" in "available values"
The default values are set by using the option "specify values" in "default values"
Hope one of you can help me out here!
Sietske
Nb.: For the time being I'm now using a hard coded workaround by adding "where parameterID ='4' or parameterID = '15'" to my select query.Hi Sietske,
According to your description, there are several suggestions for your reference:
Based on the workaround query that “where parameterID ='4' or parameterID = '15'”, it seems that the parameterID and parameter is a string type field. So please make sure the default value of the parameter is Text data type, like below:
When you go to the Parameters tab after clicking the Manage option over the drop-down list, please enable ‘Has Default’ checkbox, and make sure the values in the ‘Default Value’ drop-down list are correct, then click Apply option.
If the report works well when you open the report in Report Builder, please click Save or (Ctrl+S) button to save the report to report server.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Regards,
Katherine Xiong

11g Report behaves differently in Application Menu than Report Builder !
Hi,
I m working in 11g Reports and noted some objects, which shows different/no results when run from my application menu (through Web.Show_document & Run_Report_object), but these objects are OK when run in Report Builder (paper layout).
(1)
When I run report from my application menu, Formula Column shows no result i.e. 0 ,
but when same run from Report Builder (Paper Layout), formula column shows the right result.
Below is my Formula Column;
function RATEFormula return Number is
rt NUMBER(10,4);
Mt VARCHAR2(8);
begin
Mt :=TO_CHAR(:FROMDATE,'RRRRMM');
if :RATETYPE='A' THEN
LOOP
SELECT (sum(nvl(amount,0))) / (sum(nvl(rect_qty,0)))
INTO Rt
FROM trhrect h,trdrect d
WHERE TO_CHAR(h.v_dt,'RRRRMM')=Mt
AND d.item_code=:ITEM_CODE
AND h.unit=d.unit AND h.v_ser=d.v_ser AND h.v_no=d.v_no ;
EXIT WHEN RT >0 OR MT='201003';
MT:=TO_CHAR(TO_NUMBER(MT)-1);
END LOOP;
end if;
RETURN NVL(Rt,0);
end;
(2)
Vertical Lines i.e. these lines are visible when run through Paper Layout in Report Builder, but these lines are not visible when run through my application menu.
Kindly advise me, its urgent.
Thanks/Regards
Dev.1> Please check whether the same parameters are being passed to the reports(while running the report using the report builder and through the application). Apart from this there will be no issue.
2> Please check for any format triggers on the lines. -
Report Builder Question: Printing PO's from E-Business Suite - POXPRPOL
I'm hoping there's someone who has the time to help me: We are using Report Builder 9, Oracle 9i, and E-Business Suite 11.5.10.
I am a new developer using Oracle, and need to make some changes to the seeded (default) POXPRPOL (Purchase Order Print - Landscape) report, using Report Builder.
I have two problems:
1. When I print PO Releases from E-Business Suite, and specify I want releases 1 through 2, I get those fine, but the first page is my "Purchase Agreement". The question is: Is there any way (programatically or otherwise) to say "When the "Release" fields are filled out, don't include the Purchase Agreement?
2. Somehow, after making a few changes to the POXPRPOL report, my quantity has disappeared. Is there any suggestions on how this could happen? I look at the query where they are using "POL.QUANTITY_TO_PRINT" for the working and the non-working reports, and they look identical.
I'm hoping DESPERATELY that someone can help me - I'm really in a bind...
Thanks!
SteveSrini,
Thanks so much for your reply!!!
1. Ok, but how do I hide a whole page? I noticed the conditional formatting, but I want to "not print" a whole page when this page is a "Purchase Agreement".
2. I've checked the source - it's coming from POL.QUANTITY_TO_PRINT - POL is a view that is unpopulated. I assume it's populated at run-time. So now I am trying to track down where it's populated, but can't find that in report builder. The quantity is being taken into account, because I put a total at the bottom of the page, and that number matches price * pol.quantity_to_print. Very strange...
Finally, here's another question, if you don't mind:
3. When I print a purchase order that is set up as a blanket, as I mentioned before, I get my "Purchase Agreement" first, and then one (or more) pages per release. But the "Page Number" on each is "1" because each is a one-page PO. But my "total pages" is "3", so each page reads "Page 1 of 3". Any idea if there's a way around that?
Thanks again! Hoping you have some more insight! :)
Cheers!

User Getting Errors when lauching Report Builder 3.0
All,
I have a native mode report server 2008 R2 and need to give Report Builder access to some of my power users. I've added a new Report Builder role with the following rights (view reports, view folders, manage models, consume reports) and added it to
site settings and give the role system user assignment. When users I assigned to the role come in the report manager portal, they can see the Report Builder app. icon on the menu. When they launch Report builder they are getting the error below. Thanks

Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Hi All,
The report builder in my system is behaving weirdly. If I open a report, which is having a normal browser output, it allowing me to see the data model, layout model and everything. And if I open a report, which is having a PDF output, it's not allowing me to open the Layout.
Here the output is in context of Oracle Applications front-end. And as I know it shouldn't be a problem with Report Builder.
It errors out with the following message.

And the error report contains the following message.

I have tried reinstalling the software a minimum of 10 times, but no luck. At last I got my system formatted and tried. For the first time it worked for me, then I installed Forms Builder... then again I am getting the same problem even though I have different homes for Reports and Forms.
Is it problem with my system or the Operating System or the version of the Oracle Developer?
Can anyone please help me out?
Thanks in advance,
Lakshman.I have been having a similar problem and do not know if this will apply to your situation but I found the following on Metalink.

Sharepoint 2010 Report viewer Parameters disappear after selected
Hi,
I have Sharepoint 2010 installed and pointing to a different SQL Server 2012 in Sharepoint integrated mode.
In Sharepoint if I create a new report using report builder or if I add one from reporting services server, when I execute it, it shows the parameters on the right side. When I open the list the values are ok, then if I select one of them the page do a postback
and the selected parameter value disappears and I can never run the report because if I hit Apply it gives an error saying that the parameter is not set.
If I change the report and set default value for each parameter it works well. I can change the parameters and they work great, but I don't want to set the default values and let the user choose them.
Sharepoint server is SQL Server 2012 version 11.0.3368.0
Reporting server is SQL Server 2012 11.0.3000.0
Can anybody help me with this issue?
Thanks

Refresh of a Report Builder Dataset does NOT show newly added field
I'm working with Report Builder 2.0 (we don't plan on getting SQL 2008 R2 - so NO 3.0 for us!) and have found that if I have an existing report using an existing stored procedure (it has 4 existing parameters) and I add a new field to the stored procedure
it will not refresh the
data set. I have gone to the DataSet properties and executed the query(SPROC) where it does show the new field (so I know the sproc will
execute), but when I click OK and hit Refresh Fields it stops responding. I also tried the same steps without the Refresh Fields and still stops responding. I also tried to add the field name and it errored out as invalid.
The only work around I've found is to
create a new dataset referencing the updated SPROC with a different name, deleting the old dataset and then re-naming the newer dataset with the old
one's name so all the field references are the same. I do know that in the case of renaming
a field in a sproc that this would end BADLY because there is no way any of the old field's references would work.
But it seems odd I have to go through so much to refresh for new fields, so perhaps I'm missing a step in dealing with this situation. Any recommendations would be appreciated.Hi CinBH,
I understand that the Report Builder 2.0 hangs while flush the dataset by executing the query. In that case, I think it is necessary to capture a user dump when the problem occurred. And then, you can send the dump to Microsoft CSS support. Support Professionals
from Microsoft will assist you to solve the problem.
I am providing the steps below for you to gather the hang dump or crash dump to further work on this issue,
Hang dump,
a. Open Report Builder as usual, and wait for a while.
b. When you found that the Report Builder application hang, and was not responding, please open TaskManager by one of follws,
- Pressing “Ctrl + Alt + Del” button and then click “Start Task Manager” item.
- Or right-clicking your task bar, click “Start Task Manager”menu.
c. Once the Task Manager opened, switch to Process tab, find the “Report Builder” process MSReportBuilder.exe.
d. Right-click the item, click Create dump file.
e. After that, it will prompt a window and let you know the location of the dump file.
You can copy the hang dump or crash dump file to your development machine configured with symbols files, and open it in Visual Studio 2008. Next, you can analyze the error / exception, and call stacks to see why the error happens.
Thanks,

I have a report made it with Report Builder and in the screen preview all the information is complete and fine; however when I print it, some letters disappear on the left side of the fiel. I don't know How to correct this. I tried with the properties that allows to fields
expand them in an horizontal and vertical way. But it doesn't work. How can I get a WYSWYG ("What you see What you get") in a print form?... Could be possible
that it is a Report Builder bug and How I can correct this? or maybe I'm creating the reports in a wrong way... I need help...
Thank you very muchGodis-Tei wrote:
Hi Forum,
Thanks for the various contributions that are helping my experience with oracle.These are my two current problems:
1. Assuming I have built a page of payroll for 40 workers that repeats monthly. Is there a way of copying the previous page for last month into this month? Or, do I have to build a new page on the same table and update it?
2. Please, what procedure should I follow to print a form or a report from the application page?Please ask only ONE question per thread. These issues do not appear to be related in any way, so so the thread is likely to end up an unmanageable, confusing mess.

[SOLVED] LXDE menu disappeared after update
After last update the menu entries in LXDE menu disappeared. There are only two entries, Logout and Run
Is there any way to restore the menu entries?

1. broken panel config
please show (cat) us your panel configuration eg:
cat ~/.config/lxpanel/default/panels/panel
or
cat ~/.config/lxpanel/LXDE/panels/panel
especially part Plugin type=menu
With the same problem, my cat showed:
Plugin {
type = menu
Config {
image=/usr/share/lxde/images/lxde-icon.png
system {
separator {
item {
command=run
separator {
item {
image=gnome-logout
command=logout
2. hidden all entities in menu
backup and remove local menu application
mv ~/.local/share/applications ~/.local/share/applications.bak
I did that, and my applications.bak directory contains lots of files with extension of .desktop
3. missing a part of menu
install again lxmenu-data, menu-cache and libfm-extra
sudo pacman -S libfm-extra libfm-extra libfm-extra
Did you mean to put libfm-extra three times?
Did you mean
sudo pacman -S lxmenu-data menu-cache libfm-extra
I tried that, but didn't have any pacman. I used apt-get to get it, and found myself playing pacman :-)
I tried
sudo apt-get install lxmenu-data menu-cache libfm-extra
and got the result:
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package menu-cache
E: Unable to locate package libfm-extra
4. launch panel from termian
if nothing helps start terminal stop lxpanel and start it again from terminal to see the output
lxpanelctl exit
lxpanel
When I run lxpanel (with the bare command, or as someone else suggested, with
lxpanel -p LXDE
) I get the error message
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":1"
The panel starts OK, but still has only Run and Logout entries in the START menu.
I am running Ubuntu 13.04, accessing the server through tightvnc.
The file
~/.config/lxpanel/LXDE/panels/panel
begins with
# lxpanel <profile> config file. Manually editing is not recommended.
# Use preference dialog in lxpanel to adjust config when you can.
so I don't want to just add entries the function.
The preference dialog didn't seem to have a way for me to import other START menu entries.
Any help appreciated :-)

Report Builder 6i not recognizing analytic functions
Hi all, in an attempt to speed up a very slow query, I applied analytic function to it. I can save the query in report builder with no problems, however, I cannot create data links between this query and others. After I comment out the analytic function, data links can be made. My colleague said Report Builder 6i is too old so it can only recognize ANSI SQL syntax. Since our DB server is using Oracle 10gR2, is there a way for Report Builder to recognize and compile Oracle 10g syntax?
Many thanks.Hello,
Your colleague is right. Even if the SQL query is executed by the DB server , Reports needs to parse the SQL query.
The SQL parser included in Reports 6i is based on 8.0.6
You can see this version in the Reports Builder help :

Run Report Through Menu in 10g
Hi Gurus
I am new to Development. I have managed to create a .jsp file using Report Builder in 10g. This report has user-defined parameter. I also have a Form with Menu. Now I want to add a menu item so that when user click on it the report that I just created should run on web.
I have installed DevSuite 10g wth typical settings on a single machine so I think both forms & reports servers are on the same machine.
Please help me!
Thank you all in advanceand also u need not give the report name . You shud give the name of the report object which u created in the navigator
I used the following code in the menu_item
declare
repid report_object;
v_rep varchar2(100);
rep_status varchar2(20);
begin
repid:=FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('ALL_STUDENTS_BASIC_REPORT.JSP');
v_rep:=RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
END;
should be modified to
I used the following code in the menu_item
declare

v_rep varchar2(100);
rep_status varchar2(20);

--reportn is the object name which u create in the navigator

--repservername is the servername which u need to start
v_rep:=RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix this.
Every so often when I am in reports builder it crashes with a memory exception. Somthing like the following
"The instruction at "0x671915fc" referenced memory at "0x000eee85b". The memory could not be "read".
and builder shuts down. In some cases I dont even get the message, builder just chooses to disappear on me. It doesnt havent all that often when I am in the layout editor. It seems to handle more when I click on a programming unit or on the data model editor.
Does anyone know what this means and how I can stop it. I have to save my report every minute or so to ensure I dont lose anything (once the report got corrupted and I couldnt even open it) and am up to version 30 already.Windows 2000 Professional

I had applied a patch as well to see if it would solve the problem but it did not. Cant remember what the patch number was.
I had been working with builder no problem before. On our current project we needed the minimal server as well to run the report locally. It was after I had installed the server that I stated to run into this problem. I even completely uninstalled reports builder and the server and re-installed it but it did not solve the problem.
