Report Builder on Linux?
Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to run a version of Oracle report builder in linux? Currently right now I am running Reports 6i in Windows XP. I've found a way to run all my other apps in linux and have switched over except for a couple of Oracle apps. The main ones being Reports and Workflow Builder.
I remember there was a way to run Forms builder in Solaris not sure if there was a same version like that for Reports builder.
Thanks.
hi ,
The oracle report builder will work on linux operating system also.

How to start Oracle Report Builder in Linux
Hi all
Can someone please help by telling how can i start Oracle Report Builder in Linux????
Thank you and best regards to allHello,
there should be a script rwbuilder.sh
in ORACLE_HOME/bin for 10.1.2.
in ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/reports/bin for 11g
Of course, you need to have a "X Display Server " up and running and the variable DISPLAY must be set to this "X Display Server "
Example :
export DISPLAY=123.456.789.12:0
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwbuilder.sh

REP-1401 in 9.0.2.3 reports builder on Linux
Hi,
I am trying to make use of the 2d barcode jarfile provided by IDAutomation. when I try to incorporate it into one of my reports I am consistently getting:
REP-1401: 'cf_2d_barcodeformula': Fatal PL/SQL error occurred.
ORA-39565: Message 39565 not found: product=RDBMS; facility=ORA
I am able to make it work in the 10g version of Reports developer (on linux also), but my client is unable to move to 10g immediately.
In both cases my REPORTS_CLASSPATH is set in reports.sh, I have a valid DISPLAY setting. In the 9i version I have added the classPath entry to the report conf file with no success, In 10g it worked without this though.
The 9i version has been patched up to 9.0.2.3.
Are ther any workarounds/fixes for this issue, apart from moving to 10g?
Many Thanks in advance
Ruchit KhimasiaHas anyone had any issues with upgrading from a different OS (like Windows) to Linux and trying to print reports directly to the printer? I've had nothing but issues with it. I know others are using the feature but, I just haven't figured it out.
When I send it via the command line, I get this message below. I'm working with Oracle Support on this. I've got default printer setup as my network printer. I can print a document via the command line to my printer but when I submit an Oracle Report command, I get errors like below.
[as10g@inxx37 bin]$ ./rwrun.sh report=/u11/app/as10g/ybs/bin/test.rdf destype=printer

Report runs in Report Builder but hangs in Report Server
Hi,
I am using Oracle Reports 10g to build a report with many formula columns. Everything was working perfectly till I added some condition in a query in formula columns. After adding it, report is not working in Report Server but runs only in Report Builder. If I removed this condition, report runs OK but I need it. This condition is very simple, just filtering be a decoded column (i.e. stts = 'D')
Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem?Hi,
what is the application server version you are running your reports on?
If it is 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.2 and you are using PDF SUBSETTING (check the [PDF:Subset] section in the uifont.ali file in your server) then you are most probably facing Bug:5029259 . To resolve the issue read further Doc ID 363868.1 in Oracle Support. In short, your options are:
1. apply patchset 10.1.2.3 or maybe patch 5029259 is enough.
2. or make sure no NULL values are returned in the report. Use nvl where possible. If there was no problem before making the changes then maybe checking the new formula columns would be enough. I made this change myself when facing this issue and it appears that this resolved the problem.
3. or change REPORTS_ENHANCED_SUBSET to NO in windows registry if under windows or $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh if under linux. REPORTS_ENHANCED_SUBSET=YES is necessary if you are using TTF subsetting, though. So this might not be an option.

Current Level : Report Builder 6.0.8.27.0
We migrated custom reports build on Report 2.5 to 6.0.8.27.0 on apps/db version
from 11.0.3 / 8.0.5 to 11.5.10.2/9.2.0.6. Platform was moved from HPUX to Redhat
Linux 4.
When we open migrated reports then original reports get converted and compiled
by Report Builder 6 without any problem. But once saved and when modified some
of the reports get corrupted and have 'REP-1057' error.
Anyone had any similar problem and found solution?
ThanksI have a .rdf file. When I try to open the same in Report Builder for 6i, nothing happens! It just does not open!
I tried to convert the report into .REX from unix - I get the following error
REP-1057: 'FAIAPXINROH.rdf' is not a valid Report Builder file.
But, the report is running fine from Oracle apps.
I need to open this .rdf to change somethings.
Any suggestions?

Reports builder on Windows 7 (64bit)
Hello,
I hope someone can help me with this....... I have installed Oracle Forms an Reports (64) on Windows 7 (64bit) successfully, but when i try to start report builder it does not open and no error apeared. I try to run it in cmd and i get the following message : The Reports Builder is only supported on the Linux x86 and Windows x86 operating systems... So is it true that I can't run reports on 64bit Windows or am I doing somethin wrong? What can I do? Can I install Forms/Reports (x86) on my version of Windows and will it work?
If someone has any idea please hepl me,
thank you!!Today I installed FMW 11.1.1.3 and got the same error message when calling rwbuilder.bat. I had to remove the line "goto end" in the batch file to get Reports Builder running. I havn't tested the stability so far but at least I can run the builder. It is (as expected) the 32-bit software. If there are problems I would try to run it in compatibility mode.

Reports Builder won't start (iDS 9.0.4 on RHEL 3.0)
I have just completed a fresh install of Developer Suite 9.0.4 on RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0. The Forms builder (f90desm) runs fine but the Reports builder (rwbuilder) gives the error below. This server also has Oracle 9i DB and the Forms and Reports install from Application Server 9.0.4 on it in seperate Oracle homes.
$./rwbuilder.sh

CF: Checkpoxes in Report builder
Hallo,
Danke schon mal!Sorry to tell you but the Application Wizards for CF are
Windows only. I recall some previous forum posts/responses back
around the release of Flex 3 indicating that the application
wizards were written in Windows code that requires DLLs (or some
such). It didn't sound like these extensions were coming to those
of us on Mac or Linux anytime soon, as it would entail an entire
rewrite of the application.
If you really need to use these wizards you can do it with a
"little" workaround:
1. Install Windows XP (or Vista) on your Mac either via Boot
Camp or one of the virtualization applications (VMWare Fusion or
Parallels for Mac).
2. Download Flex Builder 3 for Windows (when you buy Flex,
Adobe gives you the option to download versions either major
platform)
3. Install CF and Flex Builder 3 on your Windows machine
4. Connect to your datasource
5. Run the wizard
6. Export the code to your Mac drive (zip, copy, FTP,
whatever you like)
7. Import the project into your Mac Flex Builder
I certainly don't recommend this option but it is available
if you feel you need the generated applications.
I don't think there would be a licensing issue with Adobe for
this setup since you're using the application locally on your
machine but don't quote me on that.
HTH!

Can not change the field property - 10gR2 reports crashing on Linux :(
All I want to do, is to change one field's property from NUMBER to DATE in the property palette. It does not allow me to do it (not east like forms). I can not change the field property - 10gR2 reports keep crashing on Linux :(
I don't know if this is a Linux specific iDS issue, or a generic one.
What are the proper steps to change one field (in my query, the field name is ptime, it was defined as a number field originally, and now I need to change it to DATE and apply the proper format mask). The matching database field definition was modified from number to date.
very frustrating...
Any input is appreciated.
Message was edited by:
zaferaktannop, did not change anything in the select statement at all. Just selected the related query under the data model (in the navigator), then selected the related query from within the property panel, connected to the db, then from the related navigor menu selected compile all, when the related query was highlighted (selected). Then I saved it, checked the groups, and bingo - the datatype was changed from number to date. Then I went to the related object under the page layout and applied the format mask (that was another funny story). And it worked. It is not as flexible as the forms for sure - pain in the a.. And I still don't know why Reports Builder keeps crashing on Linux - have no problems with Forms Developer on Linux at all. It is a certified RH platform with all the required libs, rpms, etc installed. I am certain it is not an installation issue. Maybe I should check Metalink and apply if an iDS 10gR2 patch exists for reports.

Open source user friendly SQL Qyery+Report Builder
hi guys
Please help me find any link from where i can download OpenSource user friendly SQL Qyery+Report Builder
thanksOne would hope it was!
it is not possible to give everything that the OP may request. The closest match, now that is workable. -
Hi,
"Report Builder is a report authoring environment for business users who prefer to work in the Microsoft Office environment.
You work with one report at a time. You can modify a published report directly from a report server. You can quickly build a report by adding items from the Report Part Gallery provided by report designers from your organization." - As mentioned
on TechNet.
I wonder how a non-technical business analyst can use Report Builder 3 to create ad-hoc reports/analysis with list of parameters based on other data sets.
Do they need to learn TSQL or how to add and link parameter in Report Builder? then How they can add parameter into a report. Not sure what i am missing from whole idea behind Report builder then?
I have SQL Server 2012 STD and Report Builder 3.0 and want to train non-technical users to create reports as per their need without asking to IT department.
Everything seems simple and working except parameters with list of values e.g. Sales year List, Sales Month List, Gender etc. etc.
So how they can configure parameters based on Other data sets?
Workaround in my mind is to create a report with most of columns and add most frequent parameters based on other data sets and then non-technical user modify that report according to their needs but that way its still restricting users to
a set of defined reports?
I want functionality like "Excel Power view parameters" into report builder which is driven from source data and which is only available Excel 2013 onward which most of people don't have yet.
So how to use Report Builder. Any other thoughts or workaround or guide me the purpose of Report Builder, please let me know.
Many thanks and Kind Regards,
For quick review of new features, try virtual labs: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/aa570323Hi Asam,
If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a
query” to get available values. For more details, please see:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283107.aspx
