Report Bursting and Distribution in Discoverer

Hello all,
We are currently using Oracle BIS Discoverer 10.1.2 and have a requirement to run a report that includes information segemented by cost center and also includes other numerical data (e.g. PTD YTD totals). We would like to run this report (possibly via scheduling) and have the output for each of the cost centers distributed (either via email or on an Intranet site) by cost center to the appropriate individual or group. Is this even possible in Discoverer? I'm thinking the answer is no, but I wanted to ask the gurus first.

Is this even possible in Discoverer?Yes, it's possible, but you will have to schedule each cost center as a separate report.
You will need to use Discoverer Desktop, a third party scheduler and a some VBScript. You write a report that generates a list of reports that need to run, ie. a report for each cost center. The VBScript runs the report to generate a list of reports and then goes on to automatically run each report within the list and sends to the report to the intranet or emails it.
We do this all the time to automatically generate reports for each team. Team members pick up their reports from a web page.

Automating Report Creation and Distribution in B1

I am creating a Sales Report for all Sales Reps. Management wants to break the report into separate PDFs, one for each Rep and email the reports to those reps. Is there a way to automate the whole process so one click will create the reports and email it.

1. If you report is based on query, you can separate report for each sales rep.
2. There is no automatic option to separate and email crystal report in standard SAP b1.
3. You may try to post such requirement at SDK forum to get some idea.
My suggestions is, create separate query for each sales rep and schedule and email to this report by using standard b1 functionality.
You can also group each report in to one report to present for your management.

Bursting and Distributing a Report Error

Dear All,
Following the example of bursting and distribution in below document
as similar case is required in my production environment.

i have followed the entire sequence as mentioned except i have to place it on Application server path
and run it from Application Server path URL

where distribution.xml and inventoryreport_kashif_dist.rdf are in same directory
but it returns the following errors
REP-34304: /d:/orawin90/reports/dtd/distribution.dtd (No such file or directory)
REP-34304: Distribution failed to complete; review the distribution lists
Any help would be appreciated

First you need to have manager_mailID in XML
In Bursting Tab
--> Enable Bursting
--> make Split By ID
--> make Delivery By manager_mailID
then in Query Builder

Advantage and disadvantage of xml publisher, report builder and discoverer

anyone can explain advantage and disadvantage of xml publisher, report builder and discoverer?

The best way i found was to put a equals and then double quotes... this only works for excel however it will allow you to cut and paste (ie to use the value to search in Oracle) and also to do vlookups.
In a bit more detail:
- I used word to generate my default table
- this created a field INVOICE_NUM
- in the cell in the table i put = " before the INVOICE_NUM field and then put the closing " afterwards.
The theory is that excel will concatenate the values together... because it has quotes around it, it will treat it as a string rather than simply a value.
For any other formats this will not work.
I'm guessing most people have moved on and resolved this some other way, but just thought I'd share the wealth!

Print report parameter and column headers PDF format from Discoverer Viewer

From Discoverer Viewer 4i I'm presently using the printer friendly version to print my workbooks. I would like to know if their is a way to include report parameters and print column headers on every page.
I would appreciate any pointers or workarounds to this issue at the earliest.

Could you be more specific about your requirement. I could understand that you wanted to know what all are the Customer sales reports could be provided in SD.
Generally irrespective of projects few reports are considered as baseline reports for any SAP implementations.
For example: 1. Order intakes daily
                      2. Order intakes monthly
                      3. Order magin (daily,monthly)
                     4. Order analysis.

Hi,
When scheduling a WebI report, you instruct the system to let it run for a certain parameter set at a given time. The result is stored in your system and it called instance.
In a publication you can include more than one reports (several kinds too) and define how and to whom you want to delivered them to. Then you can run/schedule your publication and the content will be delivered as defined at a given point in time.

Cheque and PO Printing / Discoverer Report Publishing

Greetings,
We are contemplating the purchase of OBI Standard Edition One. I have read much of the product information, and would like an opinion from actual users:
1) Can Cheques and Purchase Orders (that have been generated out of E-Business Suite) be printed using OBISE?
2) Can OBISE be used to publish discoverer reports as PDF files to network folders or email addresses, and can this be scheduled to be done say weekly, etc? Or, do we need the EE (enterprise edition) to do this?

Actually, that's a good point.
If Discoverer can print to XML, then an XML engine kind of program (hint: XML Publisher) might be able to process it and export to your format.
Newer - ie: to come - versions of Disco are supposed to be woven tighter with XML Publisher (actually BI Publisher now) so may be better in a later version.
For now though, sure sounds like you might want to look into doing the XML printing and have XML Publisher handle it or ... just have this report use XML Publisher exclusively and not use Discoverer at all (... did I say that? ... on a Disco forum?).

Web Services SDK and Report Bursting

Using Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 with SP2, I want to split a report into multiple reports which I think I can do using report bursting.
I want a report run for each branch in my company. Rather than run a separate report for each branch (there are thousands), I'd like to be able to run a single report for all branches and then split it into individual reports, one for each branch in an attempt to reduce the overhead of scheduling reports and querying the database. From what I've read it looks like I might be able to do this with report bursting. If this is right, can I do it using the Web Services SDK? I can't find any mention of Report Bursting in the SDK developer's guide.

Problem with Report and distribution file

Hi.
I have a report that create the paycheck for my customer's employe.
My first group on the report is the email adresse of the employe, so i can cut the report end send it by mail to the said employe.
95% of the time it's working perfectly. But when i encouter a blank adresse or simply no result (no line return by the query)
then the report execute, and crash giving me this error.

Sorry i did not find the equivalent in english. It say that the email field (REFADRCOU) that i am using for the TO is invalid and make the whole report crash.
I'm not sure how i could deal with this.
I had a idea of executing the query before report, in the afterpform, and if i have no result, add a blank line with select XXX from dual for exemple so it would have at least 1 row and won't crash. but it's not very elegant.
Any idea or suggestion on how i could handle this problem.

First I stored the file into a string variable.
And on that variable I do
some processes. (Analyze the read
bytes and add more text to the original file)
Before I did that processes on
.Text property on the object.

Sending HTML Email Using Report Bursting

Hello all,
I have a requirement whereby I am sending the report as an attachment to some users and as a link to other users. Report bursting would seem to be the answer and is working well with the exception of the HTML formatted email. When attempting to email a link, my html tags are still showing up as text. I have tried using < and >
I have also specified format=html in my distribution.xml file to no avail.
Any ideas ??

Where are you adding your html code for the link ?
Is it in a field in the report or are including it as part of the distribution.xml file?

Oracle reports problem in distribution with xml file

I am having problem while I am trying to distribute the file with specifing the destination details in the xml. If I am giving the destination details in url then it is working.
