Report Call

Hi,
I developed a OAF page and launching the PDF report thru the page button, the report generates the pdf and the ouput appears on the same page.
My question is how do I open the report output on a new window instead of on the same page? Any help would be appreciated

You can open a popup window on your button action and then follow the nornal processing to have the report generated on the popup page. Popup page properties can be controller through the calling parameters. For a safe return to base page and to maintain the state, provide a close button on popup in case you have to do some variable setup upon closing the report window.

4.5 to 6i migration or report calling from forms in XE???

Hi Friends,
I really appreciate your helping tendency. Let me explain the whole scenario.
My application basically consists of
Forms [32 Bit] Version 5.0.6.8.0 (Production)
Report Builder 3.0.5.8.0
Oracle Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
Now we migrated our database into Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production. After the migration all the existing forms and report individually were running without any problem. But there was a huge problem. Whenever I tried to call any report from any form the report engine appeared and then stopped responding. So report calling from forms was not possible after the database migration. I was suggested by someone from OTN forum to migrate my forms and reports into 6i. I have started doing the migration using ifcmp60. WIth forms 6i, reports can be called from forms. But I am facing problem in every other steps. There are many things are not working after the migration though the migration log shows no error. For example, COMMIT_FORM, EXECUTE_QUERY (for detail table), LOV, TOOL.GETVAR lots of things are not working.
My application has 200 forms and 250 reports.
Please help and advise on:
How to call reports from form when the database is XE Or
How to overcome the stated migration problem

Dear Mark:
I have two choices. I can either migrate to 6i or I can go with the existing 4.5. If I go with 4.5 ......the reports are not being called from forms. This problem is happening after I changed the database from 9i to XE. Please advise what to do so that I can keep my forms in 4.5, database in XE and can call reports from forms.

Oracle reports calling problem from FORMS

Guys I've a problem in oracle report calling from Oracle FORMS. I am using reports and forms 6i. When the report name length is more than 30 characters the report engine runs first time correctly but on the second call of report the system gives an error :
" RWRBE60.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.You will need to restart the program ".
After this error the report engine closes and i have to call the report again.
Is there a length fixed for reports name in Oracle 6i.
Is any possible solution available.
Remember i dont want to shorten my report names.
Kindly help me with this.

Well one solution is that i can decrease the length of my report name and the problem does not occur than.

11g reports calling from forms issue

I am have installed the Oracle fusionware 11.1.4 version in windows XP ser2.
I have configured the forms,reports server components and developer components.
Forms are working fine. However i am getting the error while calling reports from the Forms.
I am trying to convert the 6i forms and reports.
The report calling code run_product is not worked, so i am changed the code to web.show_document.
While running the form to call the report am getting the following error.
REP-51019: System user authentication is missing.
REP-50171: Authentication failed.
Code is written in the form as shown below....

(this is the link for 10g but it may be the same for 11g. Look for the 11g link if this doesn't work for you).
The report calling code run_product is not workedThat only works for Forms 6i. You should use run_report_object.

Report call from FORMS

Can we apply both below methods to call paper layout or web lay out
1. WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT()
2. RUN_REPORT_OBJECT()
Or else web lay out reports call only from one of them?

For Paper Layout , you can use both Forms Builtins :
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT()
RUN_REPORT_OBJECT()
For Web Layout , only WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT() can be used .

Application Build Failure on Excel.Print Report call

Developing software in LV2009 that uses Report Generation Toolkit to read/write from Excel templates. Program runs fine in development mode. AppBuilder crashes on *.exe build when adding NIReport.lvclassrint Report.vi
Digging down, I find a broken run arrow on the NI_Excel.lvclassrint Report.vi as shown here:
According to the Show Errors dialog, there is an unwired or bad terminal on the PrintOut invoke node; however I have not made any changes to this shipping VI (that I know of). I did try wiring all the unused inputs (empty strings to From, To, and PrToFileName; false booleans to Preview, PrintToFile, and Collate) after I ran into the error, but that had no luck either. Also tried inserting To Variant conversions for all input elements, just in case there was a problem in the implicit data to variant conversion.
I have also tried a ctrl+shift+run compile of the whole application, but that doesn't seem to get it to un-break, either.
Has anyone run into this problem before? It's weird that it would just break like that--I had actually compiled this particular executable before, using pretty much all the same Report Generation Toolkit VIs that I am using now. The only difference since the last build was that I replaced a Report.SaveAs function with a Report.Save function.
Also of note: I have included all the Report classes in my project and build specification in order to compile the dependencies into support libraries to minimize the number of labview files included with the executable distribution. This is probably why an error with the Print Report.vi calls is crashing the AppBuilder even when I don't explicitly call that VI anywhere in my code.

I know this post if kind of old but I hope maybe one of you can help me out. I'm using an invoke node similar to what is above to print out an Excel spreadsheet to the default printer. My issue is that when I try to print from the spreadsheet from the executable, the executable crashes. I know it is that invoke node. The reason why I say that is because until recently I had two development computers, one running on Windows 7 LabVIEW 2010, and one running on Windows XP LabVIEW2010. The original .exe was built with the XP machine, when I tried to make some changes with the Windows 7 machine and open the project it would say that there was a missing connection to the invoke node even though I did not touch that part of the application. I would then remove the invoke node, add it again and it would clear the error for whatever reason. I would then build the .exe with the Windows 7 machine and when it would run, the application would crash at the point where it goes to print the spreadsheet. I got around this by building the .exe with the Windows XP machine, and it worked fine without any issues. However, my Windows XP machine cra**ed out so i'm no longer able to build the .exe on the XP machine . I needed to make some changes to the .exe not anything involving this section of the code and for whatever reason when the application goes to print it crashes. I get some criptic crash report from Windows that is pretty much useless. I think its a Windows thing. This was workign correctly though until I did a build on the Windows 7 machine.

How to display the output of a reports called from forms in the same window

Hi all.
I have installed Forms / Reports 11g Rel2 developer only installation on my windows 7 box.
I can successfully call a reports from forms using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT and WEB_SHOW.document, but the report is opened in a new window.
I'd like to open it in the same widow, in a new tab, similar to ctrl-t and make a call.
How is that possible?.
I'm using Chrome 25.0. Could this be done through browser settings?.

Don't know for Chrome, so Google for it.
One more thing, though. what is the 2nd parameter in web.show_document? Is it '_blank'? If not, try that.

Report Called from FORMS having Printing Problem

Hi all
Guys i have a report problem in reports 6i.
I am calling a report from my FORM 6i directly to printer (a dot matrix printer).
I have set
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DesType',TEXT_PARAMETER,'printer');
The report is actually a confirmation report and i have given its layout height equal to 3.7 . But when i send it to printer it ejects the paper equal to 11 (equal to height of a portarait report).
How can manage this ejection from Form or Report Side.
NOTE : This problem occurs even if print the report from report preview(means not printed directlty from FORM).
Kindly help me with this if any.

I am getting problem
with the Oracle reports. I have a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ-300, which is a
tractor feed printer). While printing a report which is always not more than half a
page, the printer does not stop after printing the report(the half page). It stops at
the end of the page. I mean that half the page is printed and the rest half is blank.
I want that the printer should print only at half a page. On the blank half it should
print another copy of same report.

We have a Form that calls a report using the show_document command. Is there a way to track when the report is called inside the form? Thanks.

Hi,
you can install the Reports queuetableto list all Reports requests and its current status. The only problem you face is that using Web.Show_Document() you don't have a jobid to locate the job. So using Web.Show_Document() its hard to achieve what you are planning to do.
If using Run_Report_Object() instead you can read the Reports status from Forms so that you know what the current status is. In addition you retrieve a jobid that allows you to query the queuetable. A Whitepaper is available at otn.oracle.com/products/forms

UCCX 9.0(2) - CUIC Reports Call Abandoned calls inconsistencies

Hi,
We are finding that the there are inconsistencies in the abandons figures shown for a CSQ report for 'Contact Service Queue Activity Report' and the calls that are shown in the 'Abandoned Call Detail Activity Report'.
For example if I view a CSQ in 'Contact Service Queue Activity Report' I see that there are 18 calls abandon today with 9 dequeued. However I when run 'Abandoned Call Detail Activity Report', I can only see 4 calls showing for that CSQ. Before I got to TAC with this has anyone else seen this?

Q.Why do the number of abandoned calls shown on the Abandoned Call Detail Activity Report and the number of calls shown on the Contact Service Queue Activity Report not match?
A.These values can differ because a Contact Queue Detail record may mark a call as dequeued while a Contact Call Detail record marks the call as abandoned. For example, consider the following workflow:
Start
Accept
Prompt
Select Resource
-Connect
-Queue
--Play Prompt (Prompt2)
--Dequeue
--Play Prompt (Prompt3)
End
If a call is abandoned during Prompt2 or Prompt3, the Contact Queue Detail record will mark the call as dequeued but not abandoned from any queue. The Contact Call Detail record will mark the call abandoned.
In this case, the Contact Service Queue Activity Report will show the call as dequeued from all CSQs for which the call was routed. The Abandoned Call Detail Activity Report will show the call as abandoned from all from all CSQs for which the call was routed.
Another reason is that the call gets aborted after being in the queue.
Such calls get marked as aborted in the Contact Call Detail record, and as dequeued (if it was dequeued before aborting)/abandoned in Contact Queue Detail record. In this case the CSQ reports will display more abandoned calls than the Abandoned Call Detail Activity Report.

How Do You Debug Oracle Report Calls From Forms On The App Server?

I am working on a system which uses oracle forms and reports 10g.
In our system we call, we are calling oracle reports from oracle forms. How do we debug the form code when the form and report both are running on the application server in production.
To my knowledge, this can not be done when the form is running locally since there is only OC4J forms services locally.
I understand one views error messages through the jinitiator console but how does one turn on this facility? How do you determine what line the error occurred?
I am looking for step by step instructions as answer to this issue.

If you have the developer suite installed on your PC, run the report from your form and then follow this tree from the start button on your PC:
Developer Suite Home =>
Reports Developer =>
Oracle Application Server Report Services =>
Reports Queue Manager
Select View => Past Jobs and then find your report in the list, double-click the report entry and you'll see the error message that was generated by the Report Server when you tried to run the report.

Hi,
It is possible to set the Document title for PDF output. Open the Reports Property Inspector, under PDF Document Taxonomy, you can set the Document title. But this does not show up in the browser when you open the document.

I am new in to abap and i want to know that how can we display data on the same screen when we enter the value and press enter , for example when i enter a employee code in input field and when i press enter before executing my report i want to see the name of the employee for which i have enter in the field before execution. i am developing a Report which is calling a smartform for print.

XML Layout to be attached to a SRS Report called from back end.

Hi,
I have got a set of reports which I will have to call from the back end using FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST packaged function.
In that, some are having a XML layout. When being submitted these requests do not get the XML layout called; hence, the display fails with error 'Unable to find published output for this request'.
Kindly help me on how to refer the XML layout during the calling of the backend function.

Answers to your Q's as below:
1. how is your concurrent report defined ? is the concurrent program output format XML ?
YES
2. In the report itself (rdf), under report properties - XML setting section, is the XML Prolog value set ?

3. Have you validated that the report query(ies) is(are) working in SQL*PLS/Toad/SQL Developer ?
This is a report registered and working fine, when run manually. Only submission from back end omits the layout. Hence, being unable to publish the output.
4. If the report query is working and everything is correctly setup, have you look on the server if XML is generated ?
Yes. Output is getting generated. Only issue is the attachment of the layout template.

Get host and port to construct url for report call [SOLVED]

I'm calling reports via web.show_document and want to dynamically construct the URL based upon where the form is running.
I have sys_context('USERENV', 'HOST') for the host part.
How can I get the port?

Storing the reports url in a db-table works for configurations with one ias, but in applications which are spread other more than one ias, all accessing the same db you may come into rouble.
We created a new entry in the [APPLICATION].env like REPORTSSERVER_URL=http://myhost:myport/reports/rwservlet?server=XYZ and then
read this in forms at runtime usinf TOOL_ENV-builtins.
