Report Distribution - Email Server Question

Hi guys.
I need to know if anyone is using the "Offline Distribution Wizard" for emailing reports?
We run BPC v5.1, and have an issue with sending these emails.
Basically, we have an email server, to which all of our clients connect.  However, this cannot accept SMTP mail (the type that BPC sends).
Therefore, we have an email forwarding server (in our case a Domino server - Lotus Notes - But could just as easily be Exchange).
Anyway, from the tests that I have run, I set the BPC web server up on the Allow-List of the mail forwarding server, but it still failed to send the mails.
When I tried sending direectly from the server (installed an Excel client on the server and ran the wizard from there), it worked.
What I have now found is that BPC does not send the emails from the server, it simply sends the SMTP settings to the client and the client sends the email.
What this means is that I would have to add (and maintain) well oover 100 users on the Allow-List of the mail forwarding server.
This cannot be right?
Does anyone else have experience of dealing with this kind of environment, and how did you work around this issue (or did you simply give up)?
Thanks
Craig

Gave up trying to resolve this for now

  • Sending Report via Email from app Serv 10g

I am able to generate a report as an email using the following link
    http://server:7778/reports/rwservlet?userid=xx/xx@xx&module=ord_ack.rdf&destype=MAIL&DESNAME=[email protected]&desformat=pdf&subject="Order Placed"&from=[email protected]&A_SEQ_ORDER_NO=4104&a_user=NKW&a_by_user=NKW&A_PRINT_KIT=Y&A_RPT_NAME=P
The issue is that the email is blank... I've tried using &body=" " or &message=" " to no affect.
This is going to be user defined text, so I need to be variable. Anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I believe with destype=mail, the whole report is going to be attached as a file, so there is no body message.
Are you getting the report attached as a .pdf file ?
If you want to customize the body with a message and send the report as a .pdf attachment then look at chapter 15 - Creating Advanced Distributions, basically, you would be doing XML distribution.

  • How to email reports via SMTP server FORMS AND REPORTS 6i and databse 8i

    Dear All,
through reports builder reports are build but i need to email reports via SMTP server is it possible in 6i are not?if yes the how please rep asap

If it will be a scheduled report, you can create a batch file to run report with reqd parameters and generate it's pdf in a oracle directory.
Then schedule the batch file on oracle database pc, (thru task scheduler if OS is windows),
Then a email procedure will be required which will pick up the pdf from oracle directory, attach it and send mail.
Even the email procedure can be scheduled thru oracle job, but the OS batch schedule time and Oracle Job time should be handled as some gap will be needed between the two.
As for the email smtp procedure with attachments, you can find one in this forum or try googling it.

  • How to configure a Office 365 email on SAP BI 4.1SP05 server to send scheduled reports by email ?

    Hi All,
I am trying to figure out how to configure office 365 server on BI platform so that I can send scheduled reports by Email.
    Below are the system details:
    SAP BI 4.1 SP05
    Microsoft Office 365 Email account
I referred to the SCN post for configuring gmail.
I could easily configure my gmail account.
I tried same logic with Office 365. Instead of using port 465 (for gmail) I used port 995 (for office 365).
    That didnt work.
I also tried using port 587 for TLS authentication but that doesnt work either.
SMTP Link for office 365:  smtp.office365.com
For simplicity purposes, I have opened all the ports on the firewall and server.
Please let me know if I have missed anything or if my whole approach is incorrect ?
I am open to suggestions and workarounds.
    Thanks,
    Prathmesh Pai

    Hi there,
When the order is saved, the system will call the mail ID maintained in SU01 of the user.
It will then trigger the mail to the regular outlook mailbox.
Else in some cases a new Z table is defined to maintain the mail IDs. System will trigger the mail through outlook. It has that inbuilt capability.
Just ask your user to check his mail box to see if he has received the mail.

  • Email report distribution

Good morning to all, new to this forum and relatively new to the CR tool.
I want to make an electronic warning system in crystal that notifies the one responsible via email. I have written the letter in CR, and it uses an ODBC source. At any given time it is about 40 recipients that should be notified via email. The recipients email-adress is in the report.
Is it possible to automate this process, so that CR sends an email based on a field in the report?

    Hi Ronny,
Crystal Reports doesn't have a built in feature for scheduling to email destination out of the box(it would possilble though to create a custom application to send the reports to email using SDK). Business Objects Enterprise or Crystal Reports Server have scheduling feature to email destination out of the box.

  • Report Distribution through Email (secure)

    Hi,
I have tried emailing reports using SMTP and would kile to know if it is possible to do a secure email using Oracle Reports9iAS in-built 'report distribution via email' feature.
If yes, how can this be done?
    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Bharat,
I now get what you are exactly looking far ( I wasn't sure earlier)
If you are looking for enxryting the mail content before sending, then you should go for a pluggbale mail destination. Tou could also explore oracleWireless destination wihc could be sued for mail destination. I beleive oracleWireless webservice mail destination supports encryption of mail body
I was undarstanding that, you are probbaly don't want to have the receipients ids not exposed in the reports URL. This can be achived by reports bursting/distribution nand you can repeat on a goup which has a db column having mail ids
    Thanks

  • New email server batch reports no longer email

We have a new email server. I've checked all of the places in prod where I found on the forums that were places the mail server should have been set and have found nothing in prod. I searched files in unix and found only one file, WorkflowEngine.properties. I don't understand why it won't work. I tried to check the oracle tables but found nothing and the core windows server had no search results. I was searching for the old server name so I could replace it with the new server. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Spam Email Server Account Hijacked

    Hello everyone,
I've been having a lot of trouble with one particular email server. I've posted a couple of questions but nobody has answered me so I went and re-installed the whole server by changing it's static IP and adding an Airport Extreme in between so that the server only does DNS, Open Directory, File Sharing and Email.
Everything it's been going well until one user started receiving email notifications about mail returned messages.
    I've tried several things:
    - Removed the non SSL website so I only left the Webmail on 443
    - Changed to more secure passwords
    - Lock the account after 10 bad passwords (the user gets blocked every couple of hours)
    - Deactivate the POP protocol as nobody is using it, we are only using
    - Tried blocking some Russian IPs because I noticed that all the emails are Reply To the domain ngs.ru but from the logs it looks like it's going through locally.
My user has only Macs and iOS products so even though it's a mixed environment I don't think there could be a Malware doing this.
I don't know what else can I do, I really want to avoid the server getting blacklisted and I've been looking for help so I would really appreciate if someone can provide me some guidance.

    I'll really appreciate anyone's help.

I've been getting a lot of bounce backs from the same SMTP server as you to our email domain as well.
The offending server mwinf5d55.orange.fr is sending "backscatter" spam which should be simply dropped by them instead of bouncing back to the "FROM" address.
Because of this problem of bounced emails, I've tweaked our SPF (Sender Policy Framework) DNS TXT entry for our email domain to help receiving mailservers know what our legitimate OUTBOUND smtp mail servers actually are.  This should allow correctly configured email servers to drop any email from mwinf5d55.orange.fr because it is not a valid source of email for our domain.
    (See http://www.openspf.org/SPF_Record_Syntax for some syntax)
Some details that I've dug up:
The SMTP server at orange.fr is accepting mail based on forged FROM: addresses which bounce back to you by the receiving target TO: address mailservers.
Eg. From your email bounce back message:  host mail.ru[94.100.176.20] said: 550 spam message discarded.
I'm not sure if the spammer is using the mwinf5d55.orange.fr smtp server as an open relay or if it's using someone else's smtp username and password to send mail.
If you look at the email headers of the original bounced (spam) email that caused the backscatter it shows for example (from one of our bounces that I've received):
    Received: from Unknown ([92.46.248.56])
    by mwinf5d55 with ME
    id 7XfA1l00l1Dkwus03XfJsw; Mon, 04 Mar 2013 20:39:43 +0100
    X-ME-IP: 92.46.248.56
    X-ME-Entity: ofr
When you look up the IP address source of that email it shows that it is coming from "JSC Kazakhtelecom, West Kazakhstan Affiliate".
    http://en.utrace.de/whois/92.46.248.56
If you lookup the original source email and find that it's from your original user's computer then you have a problem.  If it's from a compromised machine overseas that's sending forged spam on your user's behalf, then there's not too much you can do about it short of publishing a correct SPF record.
    Hope that helps.

  • Distribute Crystal Report from BOE Server

    Hi,

    Installation on BW:

    ========
Created crystal report on top of SAP BW Query, and save/publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server directly via Crystal Report ->File ->Save as (I understand that we can also save the Crystal Report into BW role, then publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server via the BW Publish, but we're not using the BW Publish option here).
Now user can logon to BOE InfoView and execute/display the Crystal Report, no problem.
My question is in BOE Server, is there any functionality that allow us to execute the Crystal Report and send it to the user automatically via email? Just like the BEx Broadcaster functionality in SAP BW 7.
If yes, how can I do it?

I can see where to schedule the Crystal Reprot to run in the background and send out via email option.

  • Report Distribution failed

    Hi experts,
I am in the process to distribute a report in reports and forms 10g and DB is 10g. In the forms menu I have used this code to call the report
    web.show_document('/reports/rwservlet?MYKEY&report=myreport.rep'||'&DESTINATION=distribution.xml'||'&DISTRIBUTE=YES'||'&_BLANK');
after the parameter form I get the following error message
REP-34304: d:\orawin90\reports\dtd\distribution.dtd (The device is not ready)
REP-34304: Distribution failed to complete; review the distribution lists
I wonder from where d:\orawin90.... is coming, because in my distribution.xml file I have not mentioned any path like this.
But if I mention the .xml file hardcoded full pathname then the report runs without this error msg in the server but not from any client machine.
following is my distribution.xml file content which resides in the same folder where my all .fmx and .rep s are there in the server.
    <destinations>

That path is probably used by the application server to parse the distribution.xml file you provided. So there could be some issues there in the application server access rights.

  • Starting guardian process for eMail server

I've installed a new database, with the standard settings given on the install CD, and the Oracle eMail server on a Windows 2000 os.
The problem starts when try to start the email server node's guardian. I have to submit the Service Name, the database name in the TNSNAME.ora. When I try to save the value I get the following error message: "oracle.io.admin.common.PropertyException".

    I have the similar problems.
    Conditions:
I tried to install Oracle EMail Server v5.1 (the package was downloaded
    from these URL:
    basic: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?email51nt-full
    patch set: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?es51patch2nt )
on the machine with the following configuration:
    Hardware:

    destination volume.
    Software:
OS WindowsNT 4.0 Server Service Pack 4
    and following Oracle products installed:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.6.0.0 (installation option - typical)
    Oracle Portal 3.0.6.3.3
    Oracle Internet File System 1.0.8.1.0
Resulting messaging system must consist of one TCP/IP node, that is all
EMail processes (possibly except Sendmail, see questions below) will run
on the same machine. This node also must be the configuration node.
Installation of EMail Server (default option - includes all products)
performs well, installing server into the same OracleHome, as the
    Oracle8i Enterprise is located in.
The configuration options are as follows:
    Create a new node
Create a custom Email Server node
Yes - this is the first Email Server node that I am installing
Timezone selected - (GMT +3:00) Russian Standard Time
    Enabled servers:
    POP3
    POP3 using SSL
Yes - I want to enable SMTP gateway on this machine
Define and configure a new gateway
No - I don't want to enable the LDAP access on this machine
Yes - I have an existing database
Further configuration, including creation of all needed database
objects and Windows NT service (named OracleInternetMessaging<SID>),
    also performs nice.
After these steps (installing and configuring) I tried to run
OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service from Windows NT services window
(Oracle database and TNSListener services were launched earlier).
    Launch failed with error message:
    'The OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service returned service-specific error 1.'
Then I tried to start Email Server manually as described in installation
guide (section postinstallation). ofcguard command reported that
    guardian had started, but command
    'ofcguard status'
    returned following string
    'Status down'
When I inspected log file, located in directory %ORACLE_HOME%\office\log\<SID>,
    I found there following lines:
    01/11 13:12:00 INF: Guardian Version 5.1.0.1.51 started.
01/11 13:12:00 INF: Logged into database.
01/11 13:12:00 ERR: Failed to get database timezone information.
What is the reason of these problems?
Could you answer these questions also:
    1. In postinstall section of installation guide is written that setup
makes changes in file tnsnames.ora. But I didn't found any changes
in it. But setup placed in the directory
    %ORACLE_HOME%\office\admin\samples
another file, that consists of old tnsnames.ora and several new lines,
    something like this:
    crocus.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = CROCUS)
    crocus_guardian.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = GUARDIAN)
Should I place this new file instead my old tnsnames.ora (I did it,
but it had no effect), or what shuld I do else?
NB: Something similar occurs with listener.ora file.
    2. Problem with Sendmail: From Oracle Email Server installation
guide I concluded that Email Server uses in its work Sendmail
through properly configured SMTP gateway. The question is:
Sendmail itself must run on the same machine as Oracle Email
Server or it may run on another computer in the network?
If Sendmail MUST run on the same machine as Email Server,
then where I can get REAL Sendmail for Windows NT platform?
I found several Sendmail's for NT, but all of them can only
send messages from the command line. None of them is able to
run as NT service to handle inbound and outbound mail traff ic.
    3. In the Oracle Email Server administration guide (chapter #19 -
'Error Codes and Messages', item 'Messaging Server Messages',
error DA-10505 - 'Could not start server processes.') the
dbms_alarm package is mentioned. I don't have this package
installed at the moment. I didn't find any references to it
in Oracle documentation also. But my installation of Oracle 8i
Enterprise now includes the dbms_alert package. Maybe dbms_alarm
is a typing error and dbms_alert must be in its place in
Administration guide? If I'm wrong and documentation is OK,
then the question is: should I really have the dbms_alarm
package installed and if so, where can I get this package?

  • Community email server is insisting that I perform a virus scan

My community email server is insisting that I perform a virus scan before they reset my email account.  Any suggestions?I told them I have a Mac but they said they want to make sure I don't have a virus before they turn my email account back on - it was apparently hacked into and is sending spam...

Here's a quote from Thomas' Macinstosh Malware Catalog to save you some time:
    Appeared October 2010 / Description modified October 17, 2012
Koobface - a malicious Java applet commonly found on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter - has been around in the Windows world since 2009. Unfortunately, as of October 2010, it has also made its entry into the Mac world. It appears in the browser as a request to view a video, often with the question "Is this you in this video?" Initial reports from Intego indicated that this malware was too buggy to work, but subsequent reports from other security companies reveal that fully functional versions are being encountered in the wild. Worse, this trojan does not require an admin password to install. Although you do have to click the Allow button in an alert that tells you the applet is trying to access your computer, users who are not tech-savvy may assume that it's okay to do so. I highly recommend that you turn off Java (not JavaScript, which is different) if you are afraid you might agree to something you shouldn't.
Update: Downgrading threat to "none" due to lack of Koobface sightings in quite some time.
I'd be curious to know how long these have been on your computer if you can check the dates on those files before you delete them.

  • Error running reports from Crystal Server XI R2 with datasets

Hi, sorry if my english is not good. I'm from Spain.
I have a problem. I'm programming with Visual Basic .NET 2008.
I'm using Crystal Reports Server and programming under Visual Basic to take reports from crystal Server, changing the tables from the report to datasets and scheduling this report.
Crystal server change connections to CrystalReports.Dataset.
Preview reports from server sends me an error "DataBase connector unknown"
If I run this report (with datasets) into my VBNET application (into a  CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer control), IT WORKS!!!
I need help because I need to schedule these reports (to send them by email, export to PDF formats, ...)

Reporting off of a dataset is reporting off of a disconnected datasource.  The reason your application works is beacuse you most likely populating a dataset in your application and passing it to the report at the same time.  When scheduling, there is no interaction with the report so unless the report is using an xml file on disk as its datasource, how can it retrieve data?
To get around this, you can build a dll (.net data provider) that returns either a dataset or datatable and point your report to this dll.  this way, when the report is executed, it loads the dll which fetches the data for you.
    - so the first step is to compile a dll that returns a dataset or datatable.
    - to design your report off of this dll open the database expert and create a new ADO.NET connection.
    - in the File Path area, click the ellipsis ("...") button to browse to your dll and make sure the selected File Type is ".Net DataSet Provider".
    - once the dll is selected, you can choose the dataset/table returned by the dll.
If your method in the dll is parameterized, it will add a parameter to the report (similar to stored procedure parameters.
note: the location of your dll must be in the same path on the CR Server as it was when you designed your report in order for it to be loaded correctly.  I usually put the dll in a folder that I know will exist on both machines.

Just check this link to get some better clarity,
    http://garethroberts.blogspot.in/2008/03/bi-publisher-ebs-bursting-101.html
    https://sites.google.com/site/shareapps4u/learning-topic/xml-publisher/how-to-use-xml-bursting-to-send-xml-report-via-email
    Then your
<xapi:template type="rtf" location="/tmp/XXCNC_CM_ITEMCOST_CHG.rtf" /> is wrong.. this need to point the xml template location. Just check the query and then u can replace this with your output
    select

    from

  • Scheduled Report execution on Server

    Folks,
just one question: Is it possible to schedule report generation on the server?
Here's what I would like to do: At regular intervals I would like to automatically generate database reports (using the Server Object Model).
I would see various approaches, but right now, I have no idea what is actually feasible:
    - Trigger Server script execution with BPAADM, scheduled by Windows Task Manager
    - Trigger Server script execution by executing a JAR file with JAVA.EXE, scheduled by Windows Task Manager
    - Modifying some configuration script in the Server\config directory
    - Trigger Server script execution by pure magic ;-)
    Any ideas?
    Regards, Jörg

    Hi Jörg,
we use simple server based batch scripts . These scripts use the functionality provided by the BPA Admin tool to perform different tasks. You can either start macros inside the tool or perform other tasks like backing up the DBs etc.
This is a very simple by proven way to automate server based activities. We use this since the old ARIS days
    Cheers
    Dirk
