Sorry for the bad English, I am French.
I would like to output my report (6i) on excel by using headstart.
I noted the excel output was only possible if fields are elasticity horizontal property to fixed or contract.
But the first column of my report must be expand property because I test on its format trigger if it is visible or no. Thus for excel output, I created the same field on it with the elasticity horizontal property fixed; and I test on fields (format trigger) the system parameter DESFORMAT to know the column to be visible according to the output (HTML or EXCEL)
But trying, I noticed when excel output, it is not passed by the fields format trigger.

Hi,
I want the XML Report Excel ouput both numberic and character values to be left aligned in the report ouput. Currently my report excel ouput prints the number value right aligned and character value left aligned.
I have tried to concat a space to the value to make that as a character value, but this gives a extra space in the report output, which shld not happen..
Please could anyone help me with a solution.

You are making number as a string, by adding a character :) , so it will be displayed as string with space and not as number.

I do know that you want it in a network path - I am not sure if that is possible and an available option is broadcasting to a KM folder.....

XL Reporter Excel security

Hi all,
When I try to run XL Reporter, I get a message that says 'Security settings in Microsoft Excel prohibit XL Reporter from running'. I've had a look through all the settings and I can't work out what this security setting is. Any ideas?

XML Publisher Report EXCEL output Huge stored as Web Pages

Hello
I have a XML Publisher Report which generates EXCEL output and the output file size is huge.
What I notice that it is stored as Web Pages *.htm; *.html (Save as Type) in Excel this is the reason it is huge.
If I save as Microsoft Office Excel Workbook *.xls it Reduce the size.
I don't know how to save as ".xls" through XML Publisher using PL/SQL.
Any body knows? please Help..

Hi Vetsrini,
We're on 10.1.3.4.1 and siebel 8.1.1.3 and when trying to open a report from within siebel in the output format EXCEL (selected from the parameter applet), it just opens the document in the browser.
Is there a way to get it to open directly in Excel? I guess the reason is the file extension*.EXCEL, how could we get the extension to be in excel format (xls)?
We don't want our users to have to do this themself.

XML Report Excel Output exponential value issue

Hello All,
While working on XML Report we need to show output in excel format. One of the out put value is “00110E001”. but when displaying in excel is shows "1.00E+0" and default behavior of MS Excel is if the any number data contains “E” then excel will convert those records in exponential format. But our client required those data which are present in database i.e. “00110E001”.
Kindly share your valuable inputs.

Crystal Reports Excel Export Issue - page footer not being displayed

We recently converted all Crystal Reports from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio 2005 sp1, .NET 2.0, Crystal Reports for .NET. I have the latest merge modules from business objects. All reports & footers worked fine in VS2003 ... but now when I export to PortableDocumentFormat (PDF) or WordForWindows (DOC) the page footers appear correctly. But, when I export to Excel (XLS) like the code below, the page footers do not appear. We need to place a disclaimer at the bottom of every page of an exported excel document. I checked the print preview, and I tested printing the document ... the the footer is not being utilized properly by the Crystal Reports export.

fyi - if i hadn't mentioned it, problem occurs in all our environments (developer workstation, development server, testing server, production server, etc.)
on my development workstation i found the file 3 times
c:\program files\common files\business objects\1.0\bin\crxf_xls.dll
has file version 9.1.1.557
c:\program files\common files\business objects\2.7\bin\crxf_xls.dll
has file version 10.2.0.1093
c:\program files\common files\business objects\3.0\bin\crxf_xls.dll

on my development server (and our other environment servers too)
c:\program files\common files\business objects\2.7\bin\crxf_xls.dll
has file version 10.2.0.1210
so just from that i notice that the file versions in the 2.7 bin are different from my developer workstation to my development server ... but the issue still occurs in both places.

XML Report - Excel output automatic cell expand

I created a XML report with Excel output. It works fine but I have 35 columns in that report.
When I open the excel file - columns are not expanded, user needs to expand it manually.
But It should automatically expanded when the user opens the report. How can i do that?

You need to create the rtf template with enough width for each column to render the output fully expanded when viewed from BI Publisher Desktop, which will look the same when run as a concurrent request. If you used the table wizard to create your excel layout, you can widen the columns in Word and paste/enter some spaces before or after each header field in the top row which will force the html rendering that XML Plublisher utilizes to widen the columns when creating Excel output. The fundamental disconnect here is XML Publisher is not rendering .xls or .csv output, but rather html that opens in Excel minus most Excel formatting. You might need to use a 22 inch landscape layout to fit all 35 columns after they are widened.

SSRS Report Excel, PDF, Word download error.

I am facing urgent issue in downloading excel, word and excel format of report. If report size exceed 3+ Mb then I can enable to download the report. Reports
gets downloaded for smaller size.
Reports gets rendered properly in browser but when I tries to download them it gets failed. I tried on crome, firefox, Internet explorer. But it
fails in every browser.
Kindly support me to resolve this issue.

Based on my understanding, you comes across an error when you export the report from SharePoint.
In your scenario, you should check ULS logs with the Correlation ID to see if anything unexpected occurred. If possible, you can provide the log for our analysis. About how to check the ULS logs, please refer to the articles below:

Webi report - Excel Source - breaks if excel is edited

I have a Webi Report that uses Excel has its data source. I have many variables defined in the webi report. Now, I had to add a new column in the source excel. When I do that, all the variables in the webi report break. Is there a way around this? I want to add columns to excel and not break my variables. Using BO 4.0 SP5.

The references in variables are changing.
Suppose I have Field1, Field3 in excel (Field Selection - All fields). I create a variable Field1 + Field3 and show it on report. If I add a new column Field2 in the excel in between Field1 and Field3, and refresh and point/load that excel, the variable changes by itself to Field1+Field2. It seems like I need to rebuild the webi report again. This is just an example. All varaiable references seem to break. Have you not had such problems?

XL Reports - EXCEL msg -You can only open the document as Read Only

READ ONLY notification from MS EXCEL when two people try to run the same XLR report at the same time. Here is what is going on:
u2022 Person A runs an XLR report (SAP client running on a Local Machine)
u2022 Person B runs the same XLR report and now gets a MS message to the fact that u201CYou can only open the document as Read Onlyu201D
Can two people run and save the same report at the same time? If so, what do we need to do to allow this?

The answer is NO. It is because Excel locked the file. Only one active user can do write operation on the file. All other users may open the file read only.

Need for Portal to support BEx Report (Excel based) in BI7.0

Experts,
We are on BW 3.5 version and upgrading to BI7.0. We have all the reports so far is Excel Based (no web reporting). Do we need to have portal implemented for our BW report to run after upgrading to BI 7.0? In other words, is Portal mendatory to have to run any BEx Report in BI 7.0 invironment? Thanks.

No, in BI7.0 BEx Analyzer is still supported. Portal is used only for web reports and if needed these web reports can be exported to excel or pdf. It is not mandaory to have portal to see BEx reports.

FSG Reports + Excel

I realize this is a mixed forum, but I had a question about the new Financial Report Template editor in Oracle GL 11.5.10.2. Ok maybe not that new, but new to us!
2 questions:
1) When I create a footer using Page Setup => Sheet => Custom Footer, it does not stick. Is there any other way to create a footer on every page in Excel?
2) The columns &1...etc are supposed to be in MON-YY format - I even went so far as to modify the cells and put in MMM-YY as the format. When generated in HTML/PDF, they come out correctly. When in Excel output, it comes out as yy-MON. Of course the user can always change this later, but it is ignoring the formatting.
Again this is using the Excel template instead of a normal RTF one. Any help is greatly appreciated

Did you customize the existing templates? Please let me know the template name (seeded) which seems to create problem.

I have a similar problem.
I am running SAPB1 2004B (7.20.150),Excel 2003 (11.8012.6568) SP2, XL Reporter (6.70.49), Windows XP Prof SP2, .NET framework 1.1. The XL reporter add-on installed successfully, but when I try to generate report from XL report, it shows:
"Security Settings in Microsoft Excel prohibit XL Reporter from running. For more information, click Help. ......."
I have tried the suggestions and trust settings in Excel as described earlier in this thread, it is still the same.
Anybody has similar experience, pls help.
