Report font in linux

Hello!
I use Courier font for my report (in Hebrew).
I design the report on windows and then deploy it on linux.
When i run the report i do see the text in my fields, but in titles i see ??? instead of the text.
What can be a problem?

thanks for your reply.
Is there any other way in Java webapplication to load fonts dynamically? Not with AWT/SWING API.
It seems Java is automatically loading the fonts from /jre/lib/fonts directory.
Is there any other Java WebApplication location to load fonts automatically?

  • Font Issue in Reports Developer 10g Linux

    Dear Members,
I am facing a problem while migrating the reports from 6i to 10g Linux. When I migrate any report in 10g Linux, I have to set the format and font name along with its size.
Is there any way to have the same font and size after migrating?
I have to migrate more than 300 reports and it will take so much time to set the formatting once again.
Please send me the steps to configure the font in Linux or send me any meta-link note #
    With kind regards,
    Muhammad Yousuf.

    hello,
You have to check first the fonts you are using in your reports and from there you can either install them on your AS or make your reports compatible with your deployment platform etc...
Please check www.degenio.com as I have documented the problems we had when deploying our reports on UNIX.
    Thanks

  • Replacement of true type fonts on Linux

I have developed a report with Reports 6i on a Windows NT client
using the font "Times New Roman". When I generate the report on
a Linux (Suse 7.2) to a PDF-file then the font is replaced by
the font "itc avant garde gothic" although I can select the
font "Times New Roman" in the "Control Center" of KDE.
Can someone tell me why Reports is replacing the font ?
    Thanks.

Aren't the real questions:  What font are you attempting to send to the Zebra printer?  What true type fonts does your model Zebra printer support?
You should look at Google with "True type Font Zebra"...you would find this reference to Zebra with SmartForms, which is indicative of how you should proceed, probably:
[SmartForms, True Type Fonts and Zebra printers|http://www.zebra.com/id/zebra/na/en/documentlibrary/misc/sap_smart_forms_faqs.File.tmp/SAP_SmartFormsFAQ.pdf]

Any more information? Does this always happen? Sometimes?
Does it depend on the font used in Eclipse?
Does it depend on the Eclipse theme used?
What distro/version of Linux are you using? What window manager?

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font size is not consistent.

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS server is generating and saving the report in the specified location. The problem is sometimes the report font size is very tiny (especially headers & footers), it is happening for few reports. What could be the reason is there anyway to make sure that always the generated reports font size is good.

it is happening for few reportsSo is the problem that the same reports-module sometimes has the right font and sometimes not, or is there one report which has always the wrong font?

  • Report Builder on Linux?

    Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to run a version of Oracle report builder in linux? Currently right now I am running Reports 6i in Windows XP. I've found a way to run all my other apps in linux and have switched over except for a couple of Oracle apps. The main ones being Reports and Workflow Builder.
I remember there was a way to run Forms builder in Solaris not sure if there was a same version like that for Reports builder.
    Thanks.

    hi ,
The oracle report builder will work on linux operating system also.

  • How to start Oracle Report Builder in Linux

    Hi all
Can someone please help by telling how can i start Oracle Report Builder in Linux????
Thank you and best regards to all

    Hello,
there should be a script rwbuilder.sh
    in ORACLE_HOME/bin for 10.1.2.
    in ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/reports/bin for 11g
Of course, you need to have a "X Display Server " up and running and the variable DISPLAY must be set to this "X Display Server "
    Example :
    export DISPLAY=123.456.789.12:0
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwbuilder.sh

  • How to use chinese big5 fonts in Linux with Java 2 1.4.0.01? Please help me

    Hello
I just trying to run a java program in Mandrake Linux 8.2. Everythings work well except the fonts. I did read this page
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/fontprop.html
    but the problem still there.
Because I don't know how to modify the fonts.properties file. Java seem not support a world language version in Linux. (Although it support in Windows.)
Then I tired to use the windows file, fonts.properties.xh_TW, to replace the fonts.properties in j2sdk in Linux. But it doesn't work.
Please help me by either show me how to modify the fonts.properties file or direct me where to download a Big5 fonts in Linux version. Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry I have been out of for a long time.
If you already follow all the step of Locale help online,
may be your font.dir in your /usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.dir is not as
    the alias it was expected.
take a look of that file.
In xtt for chinese, there may be short cut like vl=y as such, because java
render the font directly getting info from the fonts.dir so if the font filename
is not as expected, you will not able to load the fonts. What you need to do is
    ln -s realfont vl=y:realfont
to link the font to the make java think the name of the font is actually vl=y:realfont.
Let me know you get it.

  • Placed PDF (with embedded fonts) reports fonts not available!

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me why Illustrator CS (I know it's old) should report Fonts missing when the PDF I have placed has definately got the fonts embedded.
The PDF was made in InDesign CS4 using the default [High Quality Print] setting. If I look at the properties of the created PDF it lists all the fonts as being embedded subsets.
I know I can get around this by outlining the text but I shouldn't have to.
    Thanks
    Simon Kemp

So, Illustrator will always require the fonts present and will disregard any embedded fonts?
That's pretty much it. Remember: Illustrator is not a PDF viewing program. It wants to let you edit the document. PDF is essentially a document exchange format and not really intended for editable content (beyond the extent Acrobat enables). Font designers want you to buy their products if you're going to be doing anything other than reading the text.
The link-place-flatten trick is good to have in your bag of tricks, but I am not alone in recommending you do not blindly outline all type. Aside from making it nearly impossible for an output service provider to make a possibly necessary last-minute correction, you will not get the proper hinting with very small type. Moreover, if you're dealing with a large amount of text, you'll end up with huge files.

  • REP-1401 in 9.0.2.3 reports builder on Linux

    Hi,
I am trying to make use of the 2d barcode jarfile provided by IDAutomation. when I try to incorporate it into one of my reports I am consistently getting:
    REP-1401: 'cf_2d_barcodeformula': Fatal PL/SQL error occurred.
    ORA-39565: Message 39565 not found: product=RDBMS; facility=ORA
I am able to make it work in the 10g version of Reports developer (on linux also), but my client is unable to move to 10g immediately.
In both cases my REPORTS_CLASSPATH is set in reports.sh, I have a valid DISPLAY setting. In the 9i version I have added the classPath entry to the report conf file with no success, In 10g it worked without this though.
The 9i version has been patched up to 9.0.2.3.
Are ther any workarounds/fixes for this issue, apart from moving to 10g?
    Many Thanks in advance
    Ruchit Khimasia

Has anyone had any issues with upgrading from a different OS (like Windows) to Linux and trying to print reports directly to the printer? I've had nothing but issues with it. I know others are using the feature but, I just haven't figured it out.
When I send it via the command line, I get this message below. I'm working with Oracle Support on this. I've got default printer setup as my network printer. I can print a document via the command line to my printer but when I submit an Oracle Report command, I get errors like below.
    [as10g@inxx37 bin]$ ./rwrun.sh report=/u11/app/as10g/ybs/bin/test.rdf destype=printer

  • How to Change Report Font Size in 11i

    Hi,
Please let me know how to change font size of an existing report in Quick steps.
Basically the printed report font size is too small. We change the font size from the printer but still it dose not change.
We have 11i on Unix Server and a dot matrix printer.
The report is character based and Report Builder shows Courier 10, print style is Portrait. We need it to be 12-14.
    Thanks!

  • Oracle Reports Server on Linux

    To the Oracle Reports Team!
During the last weeks there were a lot of posts about the not working Reports Server on Linux; the common understanding is: there is a defect in the software.

    2) It comes with the software.

  • Installing Reports Server on Linux

I've downloaded the tarball for Reports 6i for Linux, but I can find absolutely nothing documentation-wise on how to install the bugger. Little help?

Awesome, thats what I thought, so in that case, if I want to install Essbase server on Linux, I have to download the essbase files for linux and select only the essbase server while installing, and if I want to install essbase components on windows, I have to download the same set of files but for Windows OS and select to install only the essbase components that I need. Is that right?
    Thanks,
    Ted.
