Hi All.
I am facing an issue .... I want to generate reports on web for that i have maintained all the settings for web application designer .... .. but still its showing error when i click on "publish on web" button under Bex analyzer....
Any suggestion will be helpful

the problem may be due to your local system settings..
try this..
open internet explorer.-> click on tools menu-> click on internet options-> select connections tab-> press lan settings-> uncheck the proxy address if you have any and press ok....
now try your web report.. hope it will help your concern..

Problems with PDF report generation on WEB application

Hi friends.
I have the following problem.
I heve many reports running on a client/server system. But we decide to move one by one, the menu options of the system to the WEB, using iAS. Most of the reports works just fine, but some of them works wrong.
But I am not talking about the data or something like that, I am talking about the layout format. All of them out a grey rectangle in all the pages of the PDF reports. The report doesn't have any color inside, but when we move the file, to the UNIX server and test it, it is generated not in a white normal report but grey and white colors.
anyone have an idea what is it happend?

Problems creating a web service that uses the report generation toolkit

Hi,
Im trying to develop a web service using labview 2013.
I create a html form that is correctly communicating with my labview method and part of the web service functionality is to create a report from the data obtained in the html form published.
I realized that using the report generation toolkit inside of the web service method the server cannot generate a report. ( If I run the same Vi before publishing the web service it works on the server but it doesnt work after I deploy it)
I thought that maybe Im unable to use the report generation toolkit VIs inside of the web service because Im not incluiding the (dynamic VIs labview uses when they run), I tried to add the excel dynamic library to the proyect but with no success.
I also tried to use VI SERVER to call a VI that generates the report using the report generation toolkit in the method that runs when the web service is call but it doesnt work either.
How can I deploy a web service able to use the report generation toolkit ?, how can I deploy a web service able to use VI server ?
Any help is really appreciated.

The issue you are running into is actually a limitation intended by Microsoft. They don't want windows services to be able to call into the ActiveX interface for Microsoft Office for security reasons. If you are deploying your web service to the NI Application Web Server on Windows you will run into this problem since the web server is a Windows Service.
While I haven't tested this, you may be able to work around this by packaging your Web service with a LabVIEW EXE rather than deploying to the NI Application Web server.

Report Generation Exe Error

Hello,
I am using LV 8.6.1 with the 1.13 report generation toolkit and I am having problems getting my built exe to work. I am trying to open an excel template and populate it with new data. I have broke the vi down to just opening excel - opening the template and then fill in some data. But at this point excel does not open at all. And naturally everything works fine in the development environment.
Error Code: -2147352573
Member not found in NI_ReportgenerationToolkit.lvlib:
Excel_open_workbook.vi
NI_Excel.lvclass: new reportsubvi.vi
I read a few help pages that said to add \vi.lib\utility\NIreport.llb and LVclass directories to the project folder and add them to the always include section of the build. But no luck so far.
Side question: The machine I want to use this on has 8.6.1 Full which does not have the extra excel functions that my developer has. Is there a way to install the DEV report generation toolkit in the full version? Then I would not need to build an exe.
UPDATE: I just tried the exe on a different machine that has a developer suite installed and it worked fine. So I guess I need to find out what else I need to add to the build to make it work.

There should be some info on this in the KB.
But first you should make sure that your version of the report generation toolkit actually supports excel 2000 (which is 10 years old)

Error in report generation-Load report failed

I have installed crystal reports for VS2005 runtime in my live environment.When i try to load the report file from a .Net page i am getting the error'Error in Report generation-Load report failed'.
This works fine in development and testing but when moved to production we are having issues.
I believe i have a workaround i.e i need to open the rpt in a VS 2005 environment and re-write the connection string again.This fix had worked in development and testing when we had the same issue.
But not sure if this is a known issue with crystal reports and if so do we have any hot fixes for the same.

The reason why i posted the item on 'data Connectivity issues' is because i suspect the problem is with the connection string.Though i had provided the correct connection string,re-writing the connection string with the same info might help to fix the issue with loading the report.
Does it mean that there is a problem in the connectivity?
I have a risk here that i cant re-write the connection string..i.e to open the RPT file in VS2005 and bind it.The production web server & database server sits in a third party environment and it is not in the company network.So i cant connect to this server to re-write from any other severs in the network.
Is there any fix which can applied to the server to get this issue resolved?

I just received instructions from the TMG software company to uninstall and install the PDF driver they use. This fixed the problem. Apparently upgrading to v7.01 damages the driver but reinstalling it corrects the problem.

Report Generation Performance

Hi!
I am currently implementing a report generation module because I have to add some features (for example: 'Additional results'). Especially I want it to be fast(!). Apart from my new implementation which is done in LabVIEW I have an implementation in C++ (cosed source) and an implementation in VB.NET (self written). All three implementation produce the same output format (one text line per measurement)
For 500 steps to process (no deep nesting) the report body generation duration takes:
Implementation A (c++ DLL; closed source): 240ms
Implementation B (VB.NET; rekursive result tree traversal): 260ms
Implementation C (LabVIEW; rekursive result tree traversal): 460ms
Using the LV profiler it seems to me that the Teststand API is the bottleneck - the more TS property nodes I execute per step the longer the duration.
My questions (to CTAs :-)
- Can I speed up the report generation by using parallel loops to process the TS Property nodes; or does the TS API not support parallel (read) requests? (like a web server does)
- Can the recursive (reentrant VIs) approach be the reason why the performance is not so good (for performance better to process the result tree in iterative manner)? Remark: no deep nesting!
Versions used: TS2010 & LV2010
Remark: I know that TS2012 has implemented async report generation possibility!

Report generation: server execution failed

the app has been running for months. IS dept just upgraded machines and software. NT4.0 is now Win2000 and Office 97 is now Office2000. Report generation tool kit is not happy. Even running NI examples I get error -2146959355 server execution failed in Font Style.vi

Searching the Microsoft's web site, I found some info on this error:
If you have never had Norton AntiVirus installed on your computer, follow the following instructions:
1. Open up the specific VI causing Error �2146959355
2. Recompile this VI by pressing the Run arrow while holding down the CTRL and SHIFT keys
3. Go to File � Save All
4. Run the VI
If you are using Norton AntiVirus 2000 with Microsoft Word 2000, follow these instructions:

1. Unfortunately, this is how the activeX works. If Microsoft changes the activeX objects from one Office version to another, the executable built with Office97 will not work with Office2000. You will have to recompile your VI into the executable on a machine with Office2000 and toolkit configured for this version.
2. For the error "server execution failed" with Text Report Example, select File � VI Properties. Select "Execution" from the category box and set the "Preferred Execution" to user interface. This should solve the problem.

Dynamic report generation

We are migrating our client reports from crystal reports to business object reports and I need your help on how to achieve the below functionality in Business object reports.
Requirements
1. We need to generate and deliver around 30,000 statements to clients (mostly ftp and email) from 300 Webi report templates.
2. This has to be a complete automated process with no user intervention.
For example: Using Webi / Deski Report1, we need to run the report for each client account and then generate a statement and deliver it to client (only client specific data). Web1 reports are complex and some might take 30 to 60mins for generation.
Questions
1) Can it be done by just using BO tools with out coding ( using any .net sdk)?
2) Can a single BO server handle the load, If not How to load balance reports generation and delivery across multiple servers?
3) How to dynamically pass parameters to Webi report without coding?

In our current architecture,
1) We use crystal report templates and pass dynamic datasets at runtime to generate multiple client statements.
2) For load balancing, we have 6 app servers with crystal runtime installed and we distribute load across the servers using custom code.
My question is if use BO enterprise will there be any performance enhancements?

Difference between diadem and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit

I want to expand LabVIEW's reporting capabilities. Can someone tell me what the difference is between DIAdem and the LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office.

There are several major differences between the two solutions. I'll try and outline them as good as I can ...
The biggest different is that LabVIEW and its toolkits are programming tools and DIAdem is a ready to run application.
The LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit basically provides an extensive library of VIs that allow you to connect LabVIEW to the MS Office library and create and edit reports in Word and Excel.
DIAdem is a stand alone application that was designed to post-process data from various sources. The tools included in DIAdem are:
1. NAVIGATOR: Allows you to import data from files (ASCII, binary, Excel, etc.) as well as DataBases (SQL/ODBC, Citadel, ASAM, etc.). The unique DataPlugin technology available within DIAdem allows you to import vitually and data file by creating a DataPlugin that describes the data format and gets linked to DIAdem. 2. VIEW: Graphical and Numerical data inspection tool. Use cursors to zoom and scroll through your data, edit your data graphically and numerically and compare different tests.

Issue with ADF Application Report Generation

1) We are developing the web-base ERP application we are using technology as follows
a) Operating System Red Hat Enterprise Linux4.
b) Application Server Oracle Application Server 10.1.3
c) Oracle ADF is the frame work
d) Jasper reports (iReport 3.0.0) as report generation tool.
While generating larger reports using iReport3.0.0 Tool i,e., contains more than 20,000 records the query while executed in Sqlplus takes less than a minute, but while the report is run it takes more time leading to time out and the pdf file is not generated. The error shown on the screen is “the web server unable to process the given request”
The session time-out is 5 minutes. Please help us to tackle this issue since most of the reports are summarized reports and contain large transactional data and is critical reports.
You may also suggest other web based report tools which help us generate large reports in PDF and/or text formats.

some things come to mind.
While generating larger reports using iReport3.0.0 Tool i,e., contains more than 20,000 records the query while executed in Sqlplus takes less than a minute, but while the report is run it takes more time leading to time out and the pdf file is not generated.Running a query in sqlplus is totally different from running it in an application. Sqlplus only pumps the results to the screen, whereas the application builds some layers around the data, so that you can navigate through the result. This will cost some time.
You can try to optimize your strategy working with the data, i.e. running the query in forward only mode and/or omit the usaeg of EO where you know you don't need to change data.
But in the end you may find that you have to use a different approach to generate the reports: do it asynchrony, meaning that you start the generation on the server, let it finish there (putting the result in a file) and send the finished report to the user in a different request. Do do this you can use a poll component, or you ask the user to come back later (giving him a report number to ask for). Other solution are possible.

Report Generation: Dynamic VS. Static

I have following questions that I'm not sure how to get clarification. If you have some input, please let me know. You can also email me directly to my email address.
I'm looking into a report generation part of this project. One of the requirements is that, the reports need to be generated periodically (ie. daily, monthly, seasonly ...) and automatically (ie. 1200am daily, 1200am on 30/month ... etc). Then the output(generated reports) will need to be stored in some well structured directories. This is what I ment by static report generation. Now, the question is that, do current Oracle reporting utilities provide "Scheduling" functionality as mentioned earlier. Also, functionality that allow the report auto-generation to output reports in a stmart way, such as save it in a specific directory. And the name of the report file will be according to a specific format (ie mmddyyy.html)
Second questions is that, if I go with the dynamically route, would this method consume a lot of system utilities?? This means that, I can set up my report server into a web/portal like service. Users can always request reports from a www client and a server generate this report on-the-fly.

The oracle reports server can schedule batch reports at specific periodic times. It can generate them to specific directories and file names to.
This will consume less resources then running the report again and agian for each user. You might want to also check the tolerance parameter that you can pass to reports server for reports caching purposes

Report Status using web.show_document

Hi all.
I am using the web.show_document for running my report - using distribution xml file and mail.
I want to insert a record in a table if the report generation succeeds.
From Oracle Documentation I can see that I cannot get the report status in the form when it is run using web.show_document.
And for distribution I cannot use run_report_object.
Any workaround for this?

Actually i have the same issue, but it want to kill a running report in the report server by clicking such a button that have already the jobID.
whithout opening the reportserver page so that no body see any other reports running.
like in this example:

TAB functionality in Report Generation doesn't work.

Inserting TABS either by putting in a string or concatenating with the TAB constant doesn't seem to work. In the HTML file created by "Example HTML Report.vi" there are supposed to be two tabs in the text but they don't seem to be there. I'm trying to perodically insert data into tab delimited columns in a report. I'm using LabView 6i on Win2000.

I don't know much about HTML but I haven't found a tag for TAB by looking at a few WEB sites. And yet..there's a "Set Report Tab Width.vi" in the Report Generation sub-pallette. The "Append Report Text.vi" has a sub-vi called "HTML Report Token Converter.vi". When it gets the tag it sends a
, which I believe is a HTML line break. Not exactly equivalent to a TAB as far as I can see. If you can't send a TAB to HTML why set the TAB Width? So it seems the problem isn't with the example it's with the implementation of the Report Generation sub-pallette. Maybe the Report Generation utilities were developed for an older version of HTML and need to be updated. When I "View Source" on the HTML document that's being created, I get "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0

This is my use case.
I'm thinking of developing web reporting tool which enables design report online and generate reports
For this I hope to use Itext for PDF report generation.
I plan to implement a design area in web page and user can Drag and Drop fields to that area so that they can outline the view of the report
First I want to know is there a controller to cater my requirement
Then I'm going to read the position details(for ex coordinations of a particular filed) and generate the PDF report online.
Please can any body give me a suggestion to implement this use case scenario.

Hi,
ADF is not a pixel-perfect user interface and as such doesn't allow you to lay out components this was (though it allows drag and drop). My assumption is that JavaFX, Flash or Java Applets is what you want to look into
