Report heading in FR studio
Hi ,
I want to pass the user selection of "period" and "year" from the ser POV into report heading in the HFM FR studio.
I am thinking to use the test box and insert function.In the function if I use membername, I get the error message as invalid argument.
Can you please help.

Assuming your POV parameter is accessed in the grid you can reference your grid. So assume we have Dept in A1, Period in A2 and you wish to use period in your report header you reference the period in Column A. We use standard 3 letter characters for our period member names and use the aliases in the header (as below)
<<MemberAlias("Grid1","A","Period")>>

SSRS 2012: Report Header PrintOnFirstPage-problem after report migration from SSRS 2008
Hi ,
I developed my report using VS 2008 IDE and the report header property "PrintOnFirstPage" is set to False.
The content of the header are some textboxes and lines that should show only on page number > 1.
This works fine in VS 2008 IDE in preview mode as well as with reports rendered by SSRS 2008 report server.
Recently I migrate&convert the same report to SSRS 2012 I noticed a different rendering behaviour of my report.
So in VS 2010 preview mode, the page headers content (textboxe etc.) is not visible on first page but the headers space did not colapse as it does in VS 2008 IDE preview mode.
I checked all the report properties but unable to find a solution to my problem.
I was able to reprduce the same behaviour by creating a new report using VS2010 IDE.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated

I have tested on my local enviorment and can't reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by many factors, it can be caused by the properties setting and can also caused by the visual studio, Detais information below for your reference:
As you mentioned that you have check all the report properties, please also check the tablix,Page Header,report body properties to see if the size are the same with that in the SSRS2008.
Please open this rdl report in the report builder to see if the print layout is correct, if it works fine, the issue can be caused by the visual studio.
Please also try to upload the rdl report to report manager to check the layout.
Please also provide the snaphot of the layout in VS2010 to let us better analysis about the issue.

SSRS Text box expression in Report Header
Hi Experts,
I'm trying below expression under Text box (Report Header)
= IIf( IsNothing(Parameters!vCp_ID.Value) OR Parameters!vCp_ID.Value = "", "All", Join(Parameters!vCp_ID.Value,", ") )
It gives me error message as:-
Warning 1 [rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textrun ‘Header_Cp_ID_Value.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: Overload resolution failed because no Public '=' can be called with these arguments: 'Public Shared Operator =(a As String, b As String) As Boolean': Argument matching parameter 'a' cannot convert from 'Object()' to 'String'. C:\Users\abc1\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\Report Project1\Report Project1\ClaimsLevel.rdl 0 0
Any help what I'm doing wrong? Because of this is it printing "#Error" while previewing the Report.
If I remove IIF condition and place only:-
Join(Parameters!vCp_ID.Value,", ")
than everything is working fine.

Since this parameter allows selection of multi values, the values of the parameter is returned as an array which cannot be used in comparing with = operator, as you have in the expression
Parameters!vCp_ID.Value = "".
You may pass the first value of the parameter (element with 0 index) instead like
Parameters!vCp_ID.Value(0) = "". Note the .Value(0). As such, you expression may be written as
= IIf( IsNothing(Parameters!vCp_ID.Value) OR Parameters!vCp_ID.Value(0) = "", "All", Join(Parameters!vCp_ID.Value,", ") )

Report Title in FR Report Header
Hi,
I'm creating a Report in FR which has image on the Left side and Title on Right side in Report Header. I'm creting a report Title for ex. ABC company. I've nearly 20 entities in Column. When i view the report in workspace, it looks fine, but when i export to excel, the Report title is showing at the end of all columns, for ex. in this case it is showing the report title after column 20, which looks odd. Can any one help on this ?

In design via FR Studio for the report have you 'anchored' the title and image? Did fix them horizontally and vertically?
With my images/titles I fix to Middle/Center and Right/Top and they export to excel just fine.

Can't connect to Report Server via Management Studio
Hi,
I have a local installation of SQL Server 2005 (Developer Edition) on XP Professional SP2, with Reporting Services, Integration Services, and Analysis Server installed.
I can connect to Integration Services and Analysis Server via the SQL Server Management Studio, but not to the Report Server. I can access and use the Report Server installation via http://localhost/Reports and http://localhost/ReportServer, and everything checks out on the Reporting Services Configuration tool, so the server appears to be working fine.
I've uninstalled/re-formatted/reinstalled the services (with all default options, and services running as "Local Service"), but always end up with the following error when connecting to Report Server via Management Studio:

Report Header problem when exporting as Editable RTF

I created reports in Visual Studio 2008 with crystal reports basic, i then upgraded to Crystal reports 2008 so i could be able to export them as EditableRTF. My first problem was i could not open my reports in VS 2008 anymore, but i do open them in The CR 2008 IDE. My problem now is when i export my reports my report header appears underneath my page header and my page number stays one. I noticed this happens when i export a report as EditableRTF.How can i Export my report to be editable without having this problems?
using cr 2008 v1 (for cr server) i was not able to reproduce this issue when exporting to RTF.
when exporting to Word, Editable, i can see this issue. mostly because the word export has the cr page header info going into the word page header.
as the word export is essentially an RTF export anyway, i would recommend getting the latest patches / service pack for your cr and the RTF export should be what you're looking for.

Missing report header when exporting to Excel
When exporting to Excel from an ASP.NET application (Visual Studio 2003), some reports do not include the report header section. The reports headers are there when exporting to PDF.
I cannot see any obvious difference between the reports that export the report header and those that do not. I believe that I have the latest service pack.I am using Microsoft Development Environment 2003 Version 7.1.6030. The About Box only says Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET. It does not show a version number.
I have not been able to find any information regarding ExportHeaderAndFooter or even ExportHeader. They do not appear to be options in this version of Crystal.
I have tried reducing the report header to a simple text object that works OK on another report but it will still not export on this one. The report footer does export OK though. -
SSRS - Is there a multi thread safe way of displaying information from a DataSet in a Report Header?
In order to dynamically display data in the Report Header based in the current record of the Dataset, we started using Shared Variables, we initially used ReportItems!SomeTextbox.Value, but we noticed that when SomeTextbox was not rendered in the body
(usually because a comment section grow to occupy most of the page if not more than one page), then the ReportItem printed a blank/null value.
So, a method was defined in the Code section of the report that would set the value to the shared variable:

Which would be called in the detail section of the tablix, then in the header a textbox would hold the following expression:
=Code.Params
This worked beautifully since, it now didn't mattered that the body section didn't had the SetValues call, the variable persited and the Header displayed the correct value. Our problem now is that when the report is being called in different threads with
different data, the variable being shared/static gets modified by all the reports being run at the same time.
So far I've tried several things:
- The variables need to be shared, otherwise the value set in the Body can't be seen by the header.
- Using Hashtables behaves exactly like the ReportItem option.
- Using a C# DLL with non static variables to take care of this, didn't work because apparently when the DLL is being called by the Body generates a different instance of the DLL than when it's called from the header.
So is there a way to deal with this issue in a multi thread safe way?

Per my understanding that you want to dynamic display the group data in the report header, you have set page break based on the group, so when click to the next page, the report hearder will change according to the value in the group, when you are using
the shared variables you got the multiple thread safe problem, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, according to the multiple safe problem the better way is to use the harshtable behaves in the custom code, you have mentioned that you have tryied touse the harshtable but finally got
the same result as using the ReportItem!TextBox.Value, the problem can be cuased by the logic of the code that not works fine.
Please reference to the custom code below which works fine and can get all the expect value display on every page:

Report header is missng while printing or spooling
Hi All,
I have a problem in print a report.its
After getting selection screen of the report ,If i click a print button (it's for execute and print)
the header details are missing in spool ( does not print selection fields of the report are missing in spool).
If i execute the report and got the output ,then i click the print button it's execute properly means in spool i am getting all the output properly ,header details also printed. means selection screen fields means what i entered in selection screen is printing.Its a AVL report.While debugging i am not getting solution.i have investigated in menu painter also.
but i am not getting proper idea to fix the bug.

Display multiple parameters in report header
i am attempting to display a multiple parameter selection in my report header
i user

in the stored proc it is a varchar
in the formula editor i receive this error
a string array is required here
what do i need to do to display the selected parameter values
i have used this function before with varchars and have had no problemsi used the following syntax in my sp which produced the correct results. i just placed the parameter in the header without using the join function and it works like a charm.

hi-- i am new to this and i have created a report where the person picks one or more items (they are different hospital suites) and i need for them to print on the report header all of the selections that they chose. right now it only prints the name of the first one they choose..
any help would be good..
i do know it's a string value....

the actual parameter is a number, but what im trying to populate on the heading is the name of the number..
for example... when you choose the resource unit of 31 when you refresh i want it to show the name of it which is ORA Surgery.... but if they choose 31 & 53 then id like it to show ORA Surgery, ORD Surgery.... right now it just pulls the first name choosen.. does that make sense..
so the parameter is a number, but the name(the one i want populated) is a string

Is there any way to generate an Excel file output from OracleReports9i.Actually I have tried the simple report.
I am able to create a delimited output.But the prob is it contains an additional report header for every row of the report and this is very strange.Its coming like that

I am using Crystal XI to develop a fairly simple financial report. One of the requirements for the report is to have a copy of the totals located in the Report Header section. It does not seem to be as simple as just putting the running total field in the header. When I do that it does not evaluate properly and the result is incorrect. What can I do to work around the limitation with Crystal? Maybe I need to design a sub report that totals the information and then supress everything but the Report Footer section on the sub-report?
Please try creating a sub report in the report header and assign the values to a shared variable and call the variable in the main report and place it in the below section of the sub report. And also note that you should not suppress the sub report instead suppress the sections inside the sub report and resize the sub report to smaller size.
How do I create a shared variable in the sub-report? Can you give me an example? I'm not sure what you mean by placing the variable "in the main report" ... "below the section of the sub report". Are you suggesting that I place both the sub-report, and the variable in the Report Header of the main report? If so, why? I imagine the variable would serve the same purpose as the sub-report. In the case, I could just use one or the other.
