Report! iPhoto 6.0.1 won't work with Aperture! 6.0 works fine!

I had a hard time to import images from iphoto to Aperture today. I reinstall iphoto 6.0 then Aperture can get photos from iphoto library. I then just update again iphoto to 6.0.1, the probelm appears again. If you are an Aperture user, don't update iPhoto 6.0.1!

Don't update iPhoto 6 to 6.0.1!

I downloaded the iPhoto app and it won't work. I keeps saying quit unexpectedly.

OK, then I'd suggest you ask for assistance in the iPhoto forum:

This isn't an iTunes Store issue, so this isn't the forum where you'll be most likey to get help.

  • IPhoto and Apple ID won't work after system update

I've recently updated my MacBook Air to OS X v10.9.4.  iPhoto won't work as i am currently using v9.2.  I've tried downloading a later version but have been advised that my Apple ID will not work on this computer.  NB.  I have an iPhone but have not used the Apple ID on this - to my knowledge, or another Apple ID on my system.  I'm a basic level user so any advice on this would be great.
    Many thanks,

  • IPhoto burned DVD backup won't work

    Hi,
I just installed iLife 09 and decided to do burn a DVD in iPhoto 09 to backup some old photos. I chose a folder full of albums to burn to DVD and selected 'burn' and everything seemed to work fine. But when I load the finished DVD into iphoto 09, it shows up in the list, but it shows up as having no photos on it. When I look through the disc in the finder, the pictures are there, but for some reason iphoto won't display the photos or albums. Has this happened to anyone else?
    Thanks,
    Chief

    Terrance,
I never mentioned the thumbnail images because their is no thumbnail folder nor is their a thumbnail data file. One thing I didn't mention was that the images also appear in a folder titled "data". The ONLY thumbnails that appear in iPhoto when the disk is selected are those of the pictures I chose to burn. ALL OTHER images (thumbnails) in the 12,000+ database of mine are missing but each of those 12,000 has a placeholder and all the data associated with the picture (descriptions, etc).
Let's go over this to see if I can clear it up for you...or you could just try burning a disk of your own in iPhoto '09 to see what I'm talking about.
Select pictures from iPhoto and then select "Burn." The iPhoto disk that now results will appear in iPhoto on the left sidebar beneath "LIBRARY" & "RECENTS" as "SHARES."
Select the disk in the sidebar and what you will see in the main iPhoto window is the EXACT same thing you would see if you selected "Photos" under the "LIBRARY" in the sidebar SANS the images. In place of the images you will see boxes, placeholder boxes. All the titles and keywords (if you have that selected) will appear. The ONLY pictures that will show up in this view will be the ones I had selected to burn. Good luck finding them among the 12,000 plus placeholders. If you do find them, double clicking on the picture will do what you have chosen for double-click. The enlarged image will take a few seconds to clear as the disk has to spin up.
I hope that gives you a better "picture." Just try it yourself. If you have an older version of iPhoto you will get a disk that is very usable as it only has the images and data from the pictures you select AND that data and images are drag and drop. This one is pretty worthless. Just finding the images on the disk is impossible and the data doesn't drag & drop with the pictures.
Hope that is a better explanation.
    Fight On!

  • Iphoto froze and now won't work after restarting... help

I uploaded pictures to my MacBook earlier today, and while editing them, iphoto froze. I restarted my laptop and when I opened iphoto, it comes up, but doesn't show anything and gives me the rainbow circle meaning its trying to load. I have restarted my laptop many times now to try to get it to work, and it does the same thing everytime.
I have a MacBook, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. It normally works fine, till I was editing today. Please help!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Reports erroring out in one environment and working fine in another

    Hello,
We are in the process of merging rpds across our organization to have a Master rpd. I have merged the rpd and checked for consistency and everything is fine. I am testing reports but one particular SA reports are erroring out.
So I took the copy of the rpd on to my machine before merge and checked for the reports. They are erroring out. But the rpd is on TST environment where the reports are running fine. It's the same rpd and webcat from TST. But they error out on my local.
This rpd didnt have logical level for the facts set so I set them up and the reports are running. But we want to figure out what's going on with the original rpd and webcat as they are erroring out on other environments.
    thanks
    deep

Sorry the error I am encountering is incorrectly defined logical table source on the reports. I have checked the logical levels and it wasn't set. So I set them up and it works fine. But we were trying to investigate why the same rpd and webcat is not working on environment 1 and working fine in environment 2.

  • Can't sign in to my bank since upgrading to Firefox 4, no error message, sign in button won't work, fine with IE?

Upgraded to Firefox 4 yesterday. Have since had a problem logging into my bank. I enter all log in details, click the sign in button and nothing happens, the page just remains static, there are no error messages. No problem logging in with Internet Explorer or on a separate computer with Firefox 3 so it must be Firefox 4 that's causing the problem. It's just this one site, all other sites I use requiring log in work fine. It can't be a problem with the site because as I said it works fine with IE and Firefox 3?? Help!

Have now ditched Firefox 4 and reinstalled the previous version-the problem has disappeared, doesn't say much for the new version!

  • HT1430 I tried to upgrade to ios 4 by plugging my Ipad into Itunes on my desktop.  I got an error report and now my Ipad won't work at all.  I can only get a screen with a plug and an arrow pointing to the Itunes logo.

I tried to upgrade to ios4 by plugging my Ipad into Itunes on my desktop.  I got an error message as it was downloading.  Now my Ipad won't turn on at all.  All I get is a pic of the plug and an arrow pointing to the Itunes logo.  I tried to reset, but nothing works.  When I try to plug the Ipad into my desktop and access Itunes, my Ipad doesn't show up on the Itunes screen.

You need to restore your iPad using recovery mode and the process is covered in this article.

  • IPhoto 6: Adjust Button won't work

Just installed iPhoto 6 over iPhoto 5 - suddenly my Adjust button has stopped functioning (the new Effects button brings up the relevant panel just fine) - now I have no access to functions such as Sharpen or Saturation. Anyone know how to fix this? Without it iLife 6 has been a waste of my money.

  • Iphoto 9.1.4 won't work and the update says it is not available at this time?

iphoto 9.1.4 wont open on my Mac OS X. but when I try to update it says "This item is being modified. Please try again later."

This error message can appear, if you are currently installing an iTunes update. And there is an iTunes update right now available. Have you automatic updates enabled? Then make sure any iTunes update has finished and restart the system.  Try again.

  • IPhoto quits unexpectedly before loading, but works fine for other user

iPhoto won't load, it bounces on the dock, the menus load across the top, and then the message "the application iPhoto has unexpectedly quit..." comes up.
When iPhoto is started by another user, it loads well, although there are no photos in that one.
I tried removing all photos from mine and that didn't do anything, it still failed to load.
I also trashed the com.apple.iphoto.plist file, and that did nothing.
This is a new mac, and the last thing I did when iPhoto worked was import a whole bunch of photos from an external hard=drive (which had come from iPhoto on my old emac). I watched while it imported, and it seemed ok.
Then I changed the desktop picture to a photo out of that library. Just to see whether that had anything to do with it, I removed that picture from the desktop, but that didn't stop iPhoto quitting again.
I also tried holding down option while opening iPhoto to manually choose the library. Funnily enough, the iPhoto library file in my Pictures folder wasn't available - I could see it, but it was grayed out and couldn't be selected. Then I tried creating a new one - iPhoto Library 2, but that didn't stop the program from quitting either.
There is 3.38 GB of photos in the original photo folder.
Is there anything else I can do? I can see that all the files are there when I open the originals folder, I just can't get iPhoto to work.
    thanks in advance!
    Lachlan

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Since it works OK in the other account there may be a preference file other than iPhoto's that's interfering with iPhoto. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - Make a duplicate copy of the Preferences A folder on the Desktop as a precautionary backup.
4 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
5 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here.
6 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Slideshow won't export with music when preview is fine?

I have a slideshow that I chose a song from my iTunes library and when I preview it everything is fine. When I export the slideshow I get no sound. I've created a separate slideshow with the same pics and same song but still get the same result. This is maddening. Anyone else have this happen?

What's the source of this song? Bought online? Is it DRM protected?

  • Firmware update won't work after you've tried the Narf/Blanka method?

Many ppl have reported that their Firmware update won't work after they've tried the Narf/Blanka method for Dualbooting Windows. [For some reason, it doesn't).
Formatting the startup, reinstall etc WILL work ... because of what our friend says here : http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2076211#2076211
Fortunately, it isn't necessary To Reformat etc... (at least for the firmware update) Apparently, as long you boot from a different Disk to the one you've 'messed with' - such as , say, an external FW Drive, the Firmware updater works.
Had the same problems, same reasons on a 20". Booting from external FW Drive made it happen for me.
May someone be helped by this e-missive....

Sorry: the above is (partly) wrong ... - it'll get you past the firmware update but won't get you past the Boot Camp Assistant ... - it wants to see a single partition No matter what ...
[Just for that, I'm gonna see if I can mess with the 'can't do this on an external drive' requirement ... by moving an external to internal then back out again grin)
    best of luck...

  • Iphoto 09 worked fine for a week  - NOW NOTHING!!

So I upgraded to Iphoto 09 last week and everything worked fine. This weekend I did the facial recognition process across 40 k photos. It took almost 30 hours but completed the process and yesterday everything seemed to be working just fine.
Today I get this new message "The Photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Iphoto"
Then we get a long wait and the message "examining photo library" followed by an excruciatingly long wait and a new message : YOU cant open your current library with this version - you have made changes using a newer version"
Not true - I am opening the NEWLY loaded version - have checked 5 times or more today
What can I do to fix this please

If the Command-Option technique doesn’t work: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

  • SQL works fine in SQLPLUS but not in Report25 ???

I have the following query written in Reports 2.5.5.2.5, it works fine when I connect to Oracle 7.3.2.3. However, when I connect to a Oracle 9i database, it returns ORA-00904: "ABC":invalid identifier.
    SELECT SV_TYPE|| SV_DESC ABC
    FROM SERVICE
    ORDER BY ABC;
It works fine in O9i only when alias "ABC" not used in the ORDER BY clause.
Is O9i does not allow column alias in Reports2.5 ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Try This.
SELECT SV_TYPE|| SV_DESC ABC FROM SERVICE
    ORDER BY 1;
    With Cheers,
    Pal.
