Report name in field

I just curious if you can set the report name to a text label or field. I can get the name through the SRW package but I can't get it to bind to label or field.

Set up a new parameter in the user parameter section of the data model. Say :P_REPNAME.
In the before report trigger add this line of code:
srw.get_report_name(:P_REPNAME) ;
In the layout add a new boilerplate and put in the text
&P_REPNAME
When you run teh report the boilerplate should have the report name displayed

  • Issue with VS project - Report has remapped fields

    VS 2005, Crystal XI R2
We recently upgraded a VS project using Crystal reports. The database has changed, with table name and field name changes.
We used the "set datasource location" to remap the table names and fields. Reports run fine as stand alone.
But when running from the VB project we have an issue when logon info is applied to the subreports.
In the standard code to apply logon information to the subreports, this line of code
    Crtable.Location = crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName & ".dbo" + "." + crConnectionInfo.UserID + "." + crConnectionInfo.Password + "." + Crtable.Name
fails because Crtable.Name resolves to the old table name (ctct) which has been remapped to new table ca_contact using the set datasource location option from Crystal.
If I comment out this line of code, the reports seem to run fine, sometimes we get prompted for connection info. Once the info is set, the report runs.
But can I get this line of code to work? is there some way to get Crtable.name to point to the actual table name "ca_contact" and not the old name "ctct" that the table and fields were remapped from?

Thanks for the reply, but the subreport has been already remapped. I just went back in and double checked.
I am thinking about writing some code that will be something like
    (pseudo)
if table = ctct then replace table name with ca_contact
but there should be a way around this. Even though the table is remapped, it is picking up the old table name alias instead of what it is mapped to.

  • Database - reports - suppress empty fields

I have a fairly large database which frequently has a number of empty fields in the records. Is there a way I can suppress the empty fields when I print a report? It might reduce a nearly 60 page report to 30. A significant saving.
Thanks for any help or ideas.

    Here is an enhanced version.
    --[SCRIPT report visible records]
Enregistrer en tant que Script: report visible records.scpt
déplacer le fichier créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:AppleWorks 6:
Il vous faudra peut-être créer le dossier AppleWorks 6 et peut-être même le dossier Applications.
    Ouvrir votre base de données,
rendre visible les fiches à imprimer
menu Scripts > AppleWorks 6 > report visible records
Le script crée un document traitement de texte à partir du contenu de ces fiches
À droite des noms de champs, le script insère un caractère 'deux points' suivi d'un TAB ce qui permet d'aligner aisément le début des données affichées.
    --=====
    L'aide du Finder explique:
L'Utilitaire AppleScript permet d'activer le Menu des scripts :
Ouvrez l'Utilitaire AppleScript situé dans le dossier Applications/AppleScript.
Cochez la case "Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre de menus".
    +++++++
Save the script as Script: report visible records.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:AppleWorks 6:
Maybe you would have to create the folder AppleWorks 6 and even the folder Applications by yourself.
    Open your database
Make visibles the records to print.
menu Scripts > AppleWorks 6 > report visible records
The script creates a new WP document with the contents of these records.
After the fields name, it inserts a colon and a TAB so it would be easy to align the beginning of data values
    --=====
    The Finder's Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.

  • OBIEE 11g Agent Includes Action Link Report Name

OBIEE 11g Agent Includes Action Link Report Name
I have a dashboard page with multiple reports. One of the reports has Action Links to drill to another report. When I view the dashboard as a web page, the report with the Action Links look fine. The link fields are colored blue. When I send this dashboard page as an HTML email, it shows the Action Link report name in the cell with the other data.
The dashboard page sent out as an agent should look the same as the web page and the Action Link report name should not be visible.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Eric

So you spoofed the values of the 2nd column to have the report act almost like a menu listing?
if that's the case then check the data type of column 2, it should be set to HTML. Then you will just need to build your HTML tag within the column formula.
Example below bins the year name into a Link HTML Tag:
    '<a href="http://'|| CASE  WHEN "Time"."T05 Per Name Year" = '2011' THEN 'www.google.com' WHEN "Time"."T05 Per Name Year" = '2012' THEN 'www.yahoo.com' ELSE 'www.apple.com' END || '" target="_blank" > ' || CASE  WHEN "Time"."T05 Per Name Year" = '2011' THEN 'www.google.com' WHEN "Time"."T05 Per Name Year" = '2012' THEN 'www.yahoo.com' ELSE 'www.apple.com' END || '</a>'
if that is not what you are attempting to do, please clarify.

    Thank You

Now we have a lot of views which select data from the tables, but I need to get the "Table Column Name" that is linked in the view.
If you are using SQL Server 2012/2014, then you can use
sys.dm_exec_describe_first_result_set (Transact-SQL) to gte the informations.

  • Query Builder List of Report Names & their corresponding Folder Names

    HI there,
I have in excess of 6000 reports deployed in my Crystal system.
I need to pull 2 sets of data:
    1. I need a list of all report names & their corresponding folder names
    2. I need a list of all report names & their corresponding folder names where:
           a) The destination for the schedule is set to Email
           b) The 'to" field contains any email addresses with the value @fcl.internal in them
Grateful for any assistance you can provide.
    Many thanks....Corinne

This is a challenge that will require multiple queries or an application using the the SDK.
To get the folder where a report is located, you'll need to query CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_ID = the PARENT_ID value in the report.  To get the entire path, you'll have to "walk" up the PARENT_ID values until the value is 0, which is the root folder.
I'm not sure whether you can get to the SchedulingInfo properties in the report to filter based on your second requirement - I'm working on an application to pull this information in my "copious" spare time, but I haven't had the opportunity to get into that part of the application yet.
For some samples of code using the .NET SDK to do various thing, see my website at [www.dellstinnett.com/sample_code.html].  Code for walking the folder path is in the BOECommonInfo assembly.

  • Custom Reports and Custom Fields

When creating a custom report, it seems the only way to include custom fields and Extend CRM database fields is to include ALL of them in the Filter Criteria > Custom CRM Form Filter section. The business owner wants me to create a custom report that includes only a few custom fields but I'm not seeing how this is possible without including all of them from a specific web form.
Does anybody have suggestions as to how I can accomplish this?

    Hi Rajeev,
To the best of My knowledge i know 3 process to Generate Report in E-Recruitment Pool.
    1) Create an Infoset in SQ02 and assign the Role/UserGroup assignment as ERC_RECR and create Query in SQ01, Combining your E-Rec table & OM tables with variant and generate, you can see the Report in E-Rec(Login as Recruiter)->Reporting->Reporting Select your Custom Report and Execute.
    2) Create a Custom Report with Transaction Code.
Create a IView in Portal and call the Transaction this is the
         job of portal adminstrator.
    3) Make an RFC (Remote Function Call) enabled Function Module with Importing & export parameters as per client requirements.
Code the logic and Retrive in Internal table in exporting parameter.
    now Portal Job
Portal administrator will create a WebDynpro front end application for report selections screen or it can be any other portal development tool, for good look and feel, he will just call your RFC Function Module, by passing import parameters for fetching the internal table data he will display report on portal.
    Rajeev,
standard process is via SAP Queries you only define the Querry with variant as defaulting the selections screen what ever the values in the backend,
only you select the report name from portal E-Rec and execute report their wont be any selections screen will be shown.
Coming to I-View yes what ever the report selections screen is their in backend it will be appering the same.
webdynpro your will your can desing like any thing.
coming to number colums not very sure.
yes create only OM reports also on E-Rec.
Cheer Up dear, if this resolves.
    Thanks & regards

  • Table name from field

    Dear Sapers,
How to find table name from field name to write functional spec.Pl elaborate it for normal & zdevelopment.Points will be rewarded for useful answer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Uday,
Just for the sake of help this reply......
You can find the name of tables by using F1 button keeping cursor on the respective field that you want to bring in development. From there you have to move to Technical details through technical details button.
If that field or values are getting saved into some structure then you have to search the right database tables. According to your module many database tables are there (that you can search from sdn.sap.com directly). That totally depends on your report/development that you want to bring in......
In any development deciding the right table for start up ( I mean to say tables that will give you input fields in your FS) is critical, latter you have to search linking tables and have to give logic about how to pass values from what to what field and what to what table..... In this case Transaction code SE11 and SE16 are useful......
This all is slightly confusing and tedious too...... Closely work with you ABAPer to get into many things and have successful development....
    Have nice development....
    Cheers!

    Scheduling Background Jobs
    Use
You can define and schedule background jobs in two ways from the Job Overview:
Directly from Transaction SM36. This is best for users already familiar with background job scheduling.
The Job Scheduling Wizard. This is best for users unfamiliar with SAP background job scheduling. To use the Job Wizard, start from Transaction SM36, and either select Goto ® Wizard version or simply use the Job Wizard button.
    Procedure
Call Transaction SM36 or choose CCMS ® Jobs ® Definition .
Assign a job name. Decide on a name for the job you are defining and enter it in the Job Name field.
Set the job’s priority, or "Job Class":
    High priority: Class A
    Medium priority: Class B
    Low priority: Class C
In the Target server field, indicate whether to use system load balancing.
For the system to use system load balancing to automatically select the most efficient application server to use at the moment, leave this field empty.
To use a particular application server to run the job, enter a specific target server.
If spool requests generated by this job are to be sent to someone as email, specify the email address. Choose the Spool list recipient button.
Define when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition and completing the appropriate selections. If the job is to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom of this screen.
Define the job’s steps by choosing Step, then specify the ABAP program, external command, or external program to be used for each step.
Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.
When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
Note: Release the job so that it can run. No job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can run without first being released.
For a simple job scheduling procedure, see the R/3 Getting Started Guide.

Agreed, but IMO, i still feel its best if there is no tie in between consumer class level details and the database it talks to. A service layer is needed in between them.Sounds like you've done a bit of this before. Me, I've either been a modeller/DBA, doling out data, or a nuts and bolts programmer (and actually more toolmaker than apps, but did a bit of that too).
Do you know of a good book about the "middle ground" (ie, these service layers)? I understand it empirically, but haven't had a lot of exposure to it.

PS: Apologies. Edited my previous post, presumably while you were composing your reply, when I finally realized what '.filed' meant. Most of my work is in web development, never been a DBA :) . The biggest 'concern' in my shop is 'separation of concerns'. The UI group reports up to a different IT head, the DB group reports up to a different IT head and so on. The looser the coupling between these systems, the lesser the project costs (Integration, QA etc) are. Martin Fowler's books contain good information about separation of concerns in an enterprise environment. The two books which i recommend are

  • Templates and Passing a Report Name

I need to create a template and have the report name passed on to that template, but I need a bit more detailed of an explanation then the following:
Create a user parameter on the template and then pass the report name to the parameter at run time.

I wish to have the report name sent to the template so that at runtime the report name will show. I have created a parameter for this to be passed to, and put a field in the header of the template to accept the parameter: what I need to know is how do you send the name of the report which exists in the property palette under -Report -General Information - Name node to the field on the template so it shows at runtime.
    Thanks

    hello,
with patch 4 there is a procedure called srw.get_report_name(v_name); that retuns the report-name.

    Dear Friends,
I have a problem.....in form builder I can pickup the current

in zxrsru01, one input i need is the report technical name as the variable logic is only specific to a particular report. the variable however is also used elsewhere, that is why i would like to ensure the logic will only be executed if the executing report is a particular one.
