Report not printing to LOCL printer.

HI Gurus,
I am facing an issue with printing a specific report to a local (LOCL) printer.
Every time i try to print the report nothing happens at the printer. I am able to print other reports to that printer successfully, but
not a specific printer(end of shift report).
What might be the issue. Plesae guide me in resolving the issue.
Is the issue with the  GUI  or  with the local printer settings.
The GUI i am currently using is 710 patch level #7.
Thanks in Advance,
  Vikram Krishna.

Hi,
Check your local printing setups for specific printer.

    Hi Sundaresh,
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes it is a network printer. User is printing to his default printer(LOCL, with host printer __DEFAULT) and we are using  device type SAPWIN and access method F(printing on front end computer).

  • Printing barcode from locl printer

    Hi,
We can print barcode from printers set up in sap but not from the same printer if we select locl. as per sap note 14561, Barcode printing is not supported directly with Frontend printing.
It seems in order to print from locl printer, we need to buy some barcode.dll files. Has anyone able to print barcodes w/o using these dll files. These files are a bit expensive as they contain software to design barcodes also. In our case barcode is already designed in sap and we just want to print it. any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jassi

    Ashok,
we are able to print barcodes on the printers that are set up in sap. Issue is when we print on the locl printer. To be more clear, I have a printer which is set up in sap as 'SAP-1'. The same printer is my local printer. While printing if I select 'SAP-1', it prints barcode, but if I select LOCL as printer(even though physically the printer is same), It does not print the barcode.
We have some printers in field which can not be set up in sap. That's why we want some solution that can print barcodes on a locl printer.

  • Printing bar code to LOCL printer

I have created a smartform to print a bar code using bar code BC_CD39.  I call the smartform function in an ABAP program and then display it in PDF form using function:
    call function 'SSFCOMP_PDF_PREVIEW'
         EXPORTING
              i_otf                    = otfdata
         EXCEPTIONS
              convert_otf_to_pdf_error = 1
              cntl_error               = 2
              others                   = 3.
The bar code does show on the PDF, but it is just showing as repeating bars of the same size. Like this:
And when I print to LOCL printer, it prints out the same.  Why is it not printing/displaying the true bar code?

    Hi
Which printer are you using? To print the Barcodes you need a separate Barcode printer see the following
To Create a Bar code prefix:
    1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
    2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
Create a character format C1.Assign a barcode to the character format.Check the check box for the barcode.
The place where you are using the field value use like this
    <C1> &itab-field& </C1>.
You will get the field value in the form of barcode.
Which barcode printer are you using ? Can you download this file and see.
    http://www.servopack.de/Files/HB/ZPLcommands.pdf.
It will give an idea about barcode commands.

    Detailed information about SAP Barcodes
A barcode solution consists of the following:
    - a barcode printer
    - a barcode reader
    - a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.

  • [smartforms] Problem when printing on distant printer

    Hi,
I'me facing a printing problem with a smartform : it's OK when it's printed on LOCL printer, but KO when printed on other printer.
In this case, I obtain some gaps on colomn and differences in font size.
Would someone have an idea that could help me to solve that problem?
    Thank you by advance.
    AR

Usually we print our forms in SAP configured printers, so always try to design your forms according to printer configured in SAP.
now, coming back to your question, this is the problem why it is picking the wrong font... the font family that is used in your smartform(check smart style) with specified size may not be loaded into SAP system... check the font families that are available in SAP system in SE73 tcode and modify your smartform accordingly...
If you are using LOCL as your printer it picks the fonts from your local machine.. since the font exists in your local machine it may be displaying correctly...
Close the thread once your question is answered.

  • Report  intermittently not printing in HP printer

    Hi All,
We are currently facing an issue printing a report in HP printers.
We have a report developed in oracle report 6i and this report is in pdf format and registered in oracle apps 11.5.4.
There are few occassions where running this report (thru concurrent manager) doesn't print to HP printers but the concurrent program finishes successfully (completed - normal in view concurrent request) and the log says that the program has been executed successfully without error and output is being printed on the printer but in contrary nothing is actually printed.
The output is being produced and can be viewed in the view concurrent request screen and when you reprint it still nothing appears on the printer.
We just notice that the HP printer flashes its lights, as if something is being printed, and finishes with nothing on the printer as well as in the printer server queue.
Please note that this behaviour is intermittently happening in HP printer but not in other printers. Before, we are using Lexmak printer and this problem is not being encountered.
Has anybody faced similar issue with HP printer before? or anybody could give us a hint on why this is hapenning?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello andreatf, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing ink issues.  I would like to help.
I would recommend performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • CR XI landscape report not printing correctly on one particular server

    Post Author: BronxJedi
    CA Forum: General
I have a report that was designed in Crystal XI (11.5.0.313) that is not previewing or printing correctly when the users access it on our production server. The report is designed as a landscape report, for an 8.5x11 size paper; however, when this report is previewed on the production server all of the data is pushed over to the left, as though the computer is trying to cram it all into a portrait-sized layout. Furthermore, when viewing the Document Properties of the report in preview it says that the page size is 11x17!
This report, I should mention, is part of a web application designed in Visual Studio. When users select a report to run the application actually displays the report as a PDF document in an Adobe Reader window. So, when I mention "preview" in this post it is not the Crystal Reports print preview window but rather an Adobe Reader window previewing the report as a PDF document.
None of the other landscape reports in this application are demonstrating this same problem. Also, the report in question previews and prints perfectly fine when it is run on other computers or servers.
Currently, we have eliminated design flaws in the report as a suspect because all of the pertinent properties in the report's design are set properly. We have also eliminated the users' printer settings as the culprit because the problem exists no matter who attempts to print that particular report and no matter what printer is chosen.
Right now we are operating under the assumption that the problem lies within the server (which is a new box that just replaced one which died...the hardware on this new box is different, I am told by our server guy, but everything else was mirrored from the old box); however, we are unsure of what to examine in our attempts to fix it.
The production server is running Win 2003 Server, R2, SP2 and there are no apparent printer drivers installed on the production server. We are using Adobe Reader 8.0 on all machines that can access this report.
If anybody out there has had this same problem or knows of anything else we can check (either on the production server or within the report's design) we'd appreciate it. Why would only this particular report be exhibiting this problem and why on Earth would the Adobe Document Properties think that the page size is 11x17?
    Thank you,
    Sean

Once you find an erroneous report, can the report be re-run over the same data (same parameters, same underlying data records after record selection) and the error duplicated?
Can you dump the data read by Crystal in the Detail section of the report?  (Verify the data is as expected...)
Can you post the stored procedure?  (Please wrap it in  markup to keep it readable.  A sample of both crosstabs wrapped in the markup would be helpful, too.)

  • WebI Report not printing correctly

    Hi,
I've a WebI report for whcih the page layout is set as Letter and orientation set as Portrait. when I export this report and try printing it, the print preview shows that single report page is coming up in 2 pages while printing. however when I set the magrings as 0.25 for all the sides while printing the report appears good. Is there any wasy of superimposing these values in WebI report so that this is not needed to be done manually? Or is there any other methos to get it fixed?
    Please help!
    Thanks!
    Neha.

    Hi,
You can use, format table-> avoid page break(horizontally and vertically). Also at page setup toolbar,
you can set your pages to scale a certain number of pages. Just change "automatic" value to 1 page for horizontal and vertical page layout, and you won't get second pages.

  • Gray color background in PDF exported from Crystal Report not printing correctly in Digital Printer (CMYK)

I am processing a crystal report on RAS server, and exporting it to PDF, using the RAS Dlls.

Is there any way to make the exported PDF CMYK compliant?
    Please help.

From the info, I have no idea what version of .NET and CR you are using...
How is the printing from the CR designer?
How is the printing to another printer, say HP?
Do you have the latest updates for Digital Printer (CMYK) installed?
How does a plain pic with grey background print from a .NET app? (E.g.; is this a CR issue, or a framework issue? See:

  • EPrint Print Report Not Printing

I've set up my HP Photosmart 7510 e All-In-One printer wirelessly and it works fine, but I just got an iPhone and now I'm attempting to set up ePrint. When I go on my printer and click "Print Report," I get a message that the report will take a few moments to print, and then nothing ever prints.
I'm just trying to get the printer code to add my printer so I can can get the printers email address and use it for ePrint.

Hi djneetz, to obtain the printer code do the following:
Press the wrench icon on the printer front panel display
    Press "Web Services"
    Press "Enable Web Services"
This should result in the printers unique code being printed out, which is the email address when you add the suffix @hpeprint.com. You can customise this address once you create an ePrintCenter account.

  • SmartForm Text not printing from SAP printer but prints on LOCL

I have a smartform that looks great on the screen and if i print locally ( default printer). When i print it on an SAP printer the text is not readable. It looks like barcodes or that the text is stretched about 1 inch high. The data that doesnt print is only in the table sections. if i increase the font size to 10.0 it prints but is too large for the form. Any suggestions? I could send a PDF of the document if you wish.

    Hi,
What is the printer model and what devce type is defined in the output device for the SAP printer? Perhaps the device type used doesn't support the font size. Check via SE73 -> Printer Fonts -> < Device type>.

  • Smart form printing issue with LOCL printer and SAP printer

    Hi,
    The issues are as follows:
    1. the top portion of the Invoice and PO does not print when using the SAP printer (works when using LOCL)
    2. the shaded areas of the Order Confirmation and Invoice are black when printing to a SAP printer (works when using LOCL)
In an attempt to correct the printing issue is was suggested that we change the SAP printer device type from HPLJ4 to POST2. This did address the problem where the shaded areas were black but then we received reports that other reports printed "garbage". Its possible that using POST2 device type causes issues when printing to HP compatible printers.
Apparently all the testing was done using the SAP printer LOCL and not the SAP printer name and SAP spool system. LOCL uses the SAP GUI and Windows system to produce the output. Our production users at the plant site and Toledo are using SAP defined printers with the device type of HPLJ4. HPLJ4 is our standard here as OC for our printer definitions and we have HP compatible printers installed in our Toledo location and all of our remote sites. We need to be able to correctly print the Invoices, Purchase Orders, Sales Order Confirmations on our SAP printers.
What can be done to the reports to allow them to print on our HPLJ4?
    Thanks,
    Babu

    Hi Prathap,
Check the background shading of the windows of the Smartform where you get the black boxes. If it is set something like this:
    Color: White
    Saturation: 100%
    this can be the problem.
I know it is strange but some black and white printers cannot handle this setting. They only know one color black so the ignore the color setting and just take the saturation 100% setting.
The reason it works with local and device type SAPWIN is that the print data is created in Windows and sent to the printer as graphic.
Please change the shading for window MAIN -> tab 'Output Options' to:
    Color: Black
    Saturation: 0%
and this should resolve the problem.
Then create a new spool and check if the problem is resolved. See SAP Note #400050.
