Hello,
I have been a long-time user of Photoshop, purchased CS when I took Photoshop training after attending one of Scott Kelby's seminars in San Francisco. I also purchased a copy of Photoshop Elements and used ito tutor and teach Spanish-speaking people at Sherwood Village Apartments for practice both in teaching and in speaking Spanish (I am now bilingual).
Two problems occurred. One, my apartment was burglarized and all my computer software and hardware were stolen. I reported it to the Salinas Police Department and a nice lady came out and took a report (4 pages), and then she informed me she was going on vacation and "would get right on it when she got back." I told Sergeant Henry Gomez of the Salinas Police Department that in all llikelihood, everything became "fenced" within a day, and I felt that as police detective work went, it left a bit to be desired.
Through Craigslist, I purchased what was purported to be an authentic, licensed disk of Adobe Creative Suite. When I went to register it (my other two products are duly registered), I learned it was an illegal copy. I kept a dialogue of the discussion I had with one of your representatives (I have an print-out of our chat), she told me that it was not a good copy and so I destroyed it.
Now, would you be so kind as to help me reptlace the stolen software? My faith in the police has been shattered. I am hoping that in light of the fact that I am both a historically registered user and that I reported software abuse immediately, that you might help me out.

Thanks for the very quick reply, and I will contact your company, possibly tomorrow (as this is Sunday).
I'm a bit of a oddball in that I have registered every piece of software I've bought from both Microsoft (my brother's kid is a VP there), and Adobe (as I'm an aspiring graphic artist and you are the best).
I'm willing to try software and use trials (and have not been successful with Photoshop....takes so long). What bugs me is trying to communicate with companies (Vonage was one real klinker) who do not show their carig by responding personally (and promptly) such as you have.

Find My iPhone is good for misplaced iPhone but not good for thief and it was never meant to be.
You chance of getting it back is very small.
There are a few things you can try.
Try remote lock/wipe your iPhone through Find My iPhone.

You can report to the police, cell carrier (expensive cell charges for international calls, roaming etc)
Change all the passwords used in iPhone: Apple ID, E-mail, Bank Account ....

Software Update Server, clients report "no new software available"

I have been running Software Update Service on my 10.5.8 (9L30) Xserve for a short time without any problems, updating about twenty 10.5.8 clients on the local network.
Recently the clients started reporting "no new software available" when running software update (GUI or command line), but updates were available on the Xserve:

None of the XML data seen in the Cache.db file after running against Apple's update server is present.
Note, I did multi-home this server fairly recently to add an internal website on a different IP/URL, but I don't think that should have effected the SUS service, which is still available at the original IP/port. I am a Unix/Linux admin by training, so some of the OS X idiosyncrasies are still new to me, and I may not be aware of certain tools/commands that may be helpful in diagnosing this problem.

Apologies for responding to my own post, but I believe I have found the issue and am replying with a solution for the benefit of others.
Upon reviewing my original post, I noticed that the curl request for the index.sucatalog was returning XML contents with URLs defined with only the hostname, not the FQDN, even though the CatalogURL was specified with a FQDN.

This change in URL may have arisen when multi-homing my Xserve for some reason. In my case, specifying the search domain field on the clients seems to have fixed the problem as the simple hostname in the URLs are now able to resolve without the domain.

Difference between Asset Intelligence 09A report and reports in the Software Metering folder

I can not seem to grasp the difference between Asset Intelligence 09x reports and reports in the Software Metering folder. Do they extract conclusions based on the same data and which data are those? I also have come to notice that there are occasional dicrepancies
between them. Why would this be?

1. Software metering allows you to create a rule and meter application usage very granular, when it is started, how many times , how long it has been used e.t.c, Asset intellegence doesn't require you to create any rules it will only inventory start/stop
so you can get reports like "all computers that hasn't started a application in x days".
2.It depends on the license agreement for that application, but yes you can get how many has started a specific application within a timeframe.

Ipod 5 reported as stolen and dont know what to do.

My friend needed an ipod, and she bought it for $120. The seller told her to meet up at a park and she saw it was okay and she had thought it was on factory settings left like new so she bought it and when she got home she saw it had been reported as stolen/lost. It was icloud locked, we could not do anything about it. She tried calling the seller but he wouldn't pick up, She even emailed him but nothing. The owner left a message threatening to call the police so it was pretty much stolen. She called the owner but he/she won't pick up but she lost 120 dollars so what should she do? It is an ipod 5 and it is blue.

I think the $120is gone unless you can get it from the person or the police can get it from the person.
The police should do nothing since you mistakenly purchased stolen merchandise and then turned it in to the police when you found out it was stolen.

Walk into, or telephone your nearest police station and tell them. Also tell your network operator.

I am not sure what you mean by "too late".
Just visit your nearest police station and report it, or report it to the facility where you lost it.
You don't report it to Apple at all.

Will Apple Unlock a phone that has been reported as stolen?

Will Apple Unlock a phone that has been reported as stolen? My network provider has registered the iphone's IMEI as stolen; therefore I'm assuming that it will need to be unlocked by Apple...?

The Phone was not locked to a specific network provider .... as I purchased the phone independently.
I only have a SIM contract with the network provider, but the said that they would barr the SIM and then the phone using the IMEI. They said hat anyone wanting to use the phone would need to request an un-barr using the IMEI. Would request be made to my network provider .... can then then pass these details on?

Go to SE16 give table input as T511
and select OPKEN / Operation indicator field input as A and execute.
This will give you output of wage types wich configured for deduction.

If I report a stolen iPhone 4 to Apple, will anything be done about it?

I had my iPhone 4 stolen out of my gym locker yesterday night and naturally I am mad. I am wondering if I called Apple to report a stolen iPhone 4 (and provide the IMEI code) if anything would be done or if they would restrict helping the next owner of the phone if they came in for Apple assistance, or Apple take possession of the phone as it is stolen.

Unfortunately the United States is somewhat unique in not maintaining a blacklist of stolen phones.
Generally a thief can take an iPhone into a store and have the service reactivated. With the service provider asking no questions.
You can file a report with the police, the odds of them finding it for you are well, astronomical.
