Report on wake-on-lan enable/disable

Hi,
I'm needing to find a way to report on whether or not workstations have Wake-on-Lan enabled.
Any ideas?

  • M93p BIOS issue: PowerOff not correct if Enhanced Power Saving Mode Disabled and Wake on Lan Enabled

Hi Levnovo support team, Recently I bought a M93p tiny(10AAA05MTW)(BIOS revision FBKT56A)and installed with Ubuntu 13.10 myself. Then tried to enable wake on lan for my tiny. The followings are my test result. 1. Enhanced Power Saving Mode Enabled, no mateter what is Wake On Lan setting     PowerOff system is OK. 2. Enhanced Power Saving Mode Disable and Wake On Lan Disabled    PowerOff system is OK. 3. Enhanced Power Saving Mode Disabled and Wake On Lan Primary or Automatic   PowerOff system is NG.   When I tried to power off system, it always can poweroff(LEDs on front all off) then POWER ON again in 2 or 3 seconds.   I cannot accept this test result ,system should poweroff not reboot again.   It's really hard to understand why enabling Wake on Lan will affect power off function. I tried the same procedures with my another M92p(3212A16)(BIOS revision 9SKT70AUS), and it works well.

Did you ever get a fix for this?Having the same issue on 3 of 6 machines that just arrived.

    No.
It is difficult to identify where the problem is then

... and to make matters worse, during extensive testing of this Wake on LAN issue, I set:
    Wake Up Event By: [OS]
Resume From S3 by USB Device [Enabled]
and my USB keyboard is also unable to wake from S3/Sleep. When Wake Up Event By: [BIOS] is set, the USB keyboard is able to wake from S3/S4/S5.
Well mine does not wake up by keyboard, which is what I want, I need to see if keyboard with power key will work.

Last week, I submitted a support ticket with MSI, who responded with a basic set of wake on LAN instruction. I explained that, although I have followed the instructions, it still does not work. MSI have now gone silent on me.
I had somewhat similar experience with ASUS, but they just kept repeasting themselves, seems like language barrier or they just pretending.

  • Set Lenovo Wake On LAN BIOS Settings

According to http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/wmi_dtdeploymentguide.pdf, under "Set a single BIOS setting on the local computer", I have to set the property "Wake on LAN” to "Disable" in the Lenovo_SetBiosSetting instance in the root\wmi WMI namepspace to disable Wake On LAN in the BIOS.
However, there is no such property in the Lenovo_SetBiosSetting instance and creating the property WakeOnLAN in the Lenovo_SetBiosSetting instance has no effect on the Wake On LAN BIOS status.
Does anyone know how to use WMI to set the Wake On LAN BIOS status for Lenovo computers? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Wee Li

  • Wake on lan help

Hello, I am trying to setup wake on lan on my archlinux desktop.
I have enabled remote wake in my BIOS and i have forwarded port 9 on my router.
I also installed ethtool to see if my network card had wake on lan enabled, which it did.
But whenever i turn my machine off the light on the network card is not lit and whenever i send the packet from my windows PC via "Magic Packet Sender" my arch box does not respond.
Even though ethtool said WOL was already supported i went ahead and added the following to my /etc/rc.local (this is the only thing it contains)
    . /etc/rc.conf
    . /etc/rc.d/functions
    # Setup WOL for next boot
    stat_busy "Setting WOL to Active"
    /usr/sbin/ethtool -s eth0 wol g
    stat_done
    I also Issued this command
    echo enabled > /sys/class/net/eth0/device/power/wakeup
Does anyone have any experience with this that would be willing to help me out?

That looks right if you are recalling correctly.  It sounds like you have done
everything right on the target pc, enabled bios and wol, made the changes permanent.
You might want to double check your MAC and IP of the target and also have a look at
the ethtool man page.  There are different options besides "g" for "ethtool -s eth0 wol
g".  I would might try a variation of these (u,b,m, or s might also be options).
Edit: I should have asked what NIC you have.  Also, are you dual booting with Windows
    on your machine?

  • Wake On Lan Issue

I am unable to get Wake On Lan (WOL) to turn on 3 x Lenovo H330 computers in our office when they are turned off (S5 mode). However, I can turn on the computers from standby (S3 mode). We have 2 other Lenovo computers in the office, diffferent models, and I can turn them on from S5 using WOL with no problems.
In the BIOS I can either set Wake On Lan to Disabled or Primary. It is currently set to Primary.
I have made sure that network driver has been configure so that WOL is active. I have also updated the network driver  (Intel).
What else can I do to resolve this issue?

    Anyone?

  • How to enable wake on lan on Thinkpad Twist?

I have a Thinkpad Twist purchased because of the presence of the ethernet card.
Unfortunately I can not turn wake on lan.
I did several searches and several attempts without success.
Someone managed to enable wake on lan?
    Thank you.
(sorry for the English by Google Translate)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey there Cello67,
To enable Wake On Lan on a Thinkpad twist:
    1) You will first need to power down your laptop completely.
    2) Then turn it on, as soon as you turn it on start hitting the enter key to interrupt start up. This will take you to a start up menu.
    3) From here you will need to enter your BIOS.
    4) Move right over to the Config, then press enter on the Network Selection
    5) The first option you should have is Wake On Lan. You can change this from disabled to either AC Only or AC and Battery.
After you have done this save your settings, and resume startup. Once the computer has finished booting go to your desktop, and pull out your charm bar by pressing Win Key + C or with a swipe from the right side of your screen in. From here you will:
    1) Enter the Control Panel
    2) Device Manager - > Your Ethernet Card/Adapter
    3) Click the Power Management Tab
    4) Select "Allow this device to wake the computer"
    Hope this helps Cello67!

  • How to Enable Wake On Lan over the Internet??

Hi, I am using RV220W with the latest firmware, I want to make "Wake on LAN" work for my NAS, I found the following description on Internet:
"If you wish to use Wake On Lan over the internet you will need to set up your destination firewall/router to allow "Subnet Directed Broadcasts". Most routers and firewalls disable this option by default.
You will then need to allow traffic through on your firewall/router on a specific port. The choice of ports is up to you."
So how can I enable "Subnet Directed Broadcasts" on RV220W??
    Thanks.
    Raymond

    Hi Jasbryan,
If RV220W doesn't forward UDP to a broadcast address, could you ( i.e. Cisco) provide a tools for sending WOL Magic Packet to the LAN on Router Device Manager page?
I see many routers also provide this tools from their manager page.
    Thanks.
    Raymond

  • Satellite A300: "Wake on Wireless LAN" option disabled in BIOS

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A300-230 notebook, and in the BIOS, the option (under Advanced) to enable/disable the *Wake on Wireless LAN* is disabled and greyed out without any way to change it.
Why is that so? How can I enable it?
    BIOS version is 2.20 (latest).
    Thanks to all.

Hi, i've just installed the Toshiba Hardware Utility and there is no option there for wireless lan wakeup. It has Wake-on-Lan for my wired card (which is enabled), but no wireless Wake-on-Lan.
btw, my BIOS is InsydeH2O. I understand that there are several manufacturers of BIOS's for this notebook, no? what is yours?
also: my wireless card is Atheros

  • Satellite C660 - how to enable and Use WAKE ON LAN?

    Hi All,
I previously posted asking about using Wake on Wireless LAN and was very helpfully advised that this was not possible, so I have started to explore the Wake ON LAN option.
I have a Toshiba C660 PSC0LE-00500JEN and have enabled Wake ON LAN on the BIOS, and have connected a LAN cable between my wireless router and the laptop, both of which recognise each other so the cable seems ok.
However, whether I use a WAKE ON LAN app on my android, or I use an online "wake on lan via browser" site, the laptop still remains asleep.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks
    James

    Hi
The Wake Up on Lan option would work if you would send an Magic Packet to the remote machine (notebook).
I have no experience using the Android app who knows if it function properly
Try other method. For example using an software like Wake on Lan for Windows Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Google for that to download this software.
Furthermore go to device manager -> LAN card -> Properties -> Advanced tab and check here if the WOL is enabled too

  • Hide/show or enable/disable report column

    Hi,
    I m using Oracle Apex4.0
I m having an interactive report which has a cloumn with Link provided to it.
I want to enable/disable the linked cloumn for certain records or else the link column can ba hidden/shown for certain records.
    How can it be done?

    Hi,
Did you look at the Denes example ? It looks as good solution for you.
Is your report in format like this ?
    col_1 col_2 col_link
    col_1 - column1
    col_2 - column2
    col_lnk - column with link
in the link there is some redirection to detail page where you can provide update ?
the link should contains record ID. correct ?
The only possibility in your case is Denes or some other simple solution. (case solution)
It should be good if you reproduce it on apex.oracle.com
We can provide more help to you in there.

  • Visual Studio TestStand API runtime enable/disable XML reporting file creation

I am looking for a Visual Studio C# solution to selectively disable creation of the report generation XML file using the TestStand API.
These XML files are useful for active troubleshooting for technicians, but wind up cluttering important directories with useless information most of the time.
I am aware that the XML file creation can be disabled through the TestStand Sequence Editor menu item Configure | Result Processing | Output Name Report | Enabled unchecked option.
    This is helpful, but:
    1. I have not found a way to check-uncheck this feature at runtime.
    2. I do not believe that this would be an effective solution for my instal-less Base Deployment Paradigm.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for the quick and concise response James_Grey!
This is useful, complete, and implementable but not exactly what I was hoping for.
I was hoping to be able to enable/disable the XML file creation for the currently executing instance of the engine prior to sequence start.
I would rather not disable reporting through a configuration file that would effectively disable it for all uses of TestStand until it was re-enabled again.
    Are my expectations unrealistic?
Does anyone have any idea how creation of the XML file can be enabled/disabled for an active instance of the engine prior to sequence start through the API without altering the file based configuration of TestStand?
I have seen some postings around 2008 that indicate this can be done, but I was unsuccessful implementing those solutions in TestStand 2013.

  • How to enable Wake On Lan on MSi P45 Neo2?

    Hi,
I just bought a P45 Neo2, and I think I have WOL on this machine, as the Realtek chipset 8111C does support the feature. However, I'm not sure how to
    - enable
    - use
the function. Can you help me?
Under Device Manager, I go to the Realtek network adapter --> Properties --> Power Management --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
Now, it is enabled. How should I use it? I would be very thankful :-).

  • How to disable wake on Lan on 865PE LS

Both led on the lan is on all the time, even when computer is turned off, i disabled wake on PME setting in the bios, and i also disabled all the wake on setting in the network card properties in XP, but led's are still on all the time, is there a another way to disable wake on lan ??

I have three other computers connected to the same router, none of them have lan led on when turned off, and i think there is no reason for the leds to be on if you don't use the wake on lan function
in the power management, "allow this device to turn on the computer" is unchecked, i can't think of any other settings, this never happen before with my other lan card, i mean its not a big deal to have the leds on, but its nice to know how to turn them off to save some power.
    any thoughts??
