If you are using Oracle9i Reports, you can use the JSP to generate an Excel output.

Reports output delayed when exported to Excel using OLE2
Hi All,
Platform - Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 10.1.2.3 on Windows 32 bit.
The report output is getting generated in a minute when exported to PDF i.e destype=cache & desformat=pdf. When we generate the output to excel is considerably delayed. It is taking time and internal server error is occuring.
1) Report developed with simple query
2) Used RPT2XLS procedure which uses OLE2 builtin to export report output into excel.
3) Called RPT2XLS.run procedure in After-Report trigger of the report.
4) We have relased all memory objects in the RPT2XLS package after exporting data and there is no EXCEL.exe running once the file is generated.
System parameters used in the URL.

desformat=pdf
CONTAINSOLE=yes (Required for exporting OLE2 objects into Excel in report)
desname=path & name of the file.
I have gone through the tuning documents for reports server and increased minengine, maxengine and initengine parameters of the reports engine and also changed maxconnect and IdleTimeout parameters in reports server configuration file.
What might be the reason for delaying in the output of the reports when exported to Excel. Can the guys with special knowledge on this area help us in getting out of this issue.

Build Array and Output Values to Text or Excel File
I know this is a simple question but I need some help. I'm reading a DC voltage in LabVIEW a while loop. I want to store all the read values into an array and export that array as an text or Excel file. I had a VI that I build before for this but I cannot seem to find it and I can't remember how I did it before. Any help is appreciated. I think I can do the exporting part but I do help with building the array (storing all the data values).
I run into a problem while using the "Write to Text File Function". Initially I took about 60 measurements and wrote to a text file. That works but I increased the amount of measurements to be taken to 600 and when I did that the output in the text file are all Chinese letters (or that's what it seems like). Is this because I'm writing too much data?
When I use the "Write To Spreadsheet File VI" to write the measurments it works fine for the 600 measurements. The problem with this is I cannot insert any text. Using the "Write to Text File Function" I inserted some text before the measurements and "end of lines", to format the data. Attached is a screenshot of my VI.

Unable to Connect to the Data Source with Report Builder when using a closed Excel file
I am using Report Builder 3.0 and to get started I am using an Excel spreadsheet as my data source. I set this up just fine. I can connect successfully if the file is open Excel. But if I close the file, I get the error "Unable to
Connect to the data source".
This is my connection string:

Based on my understanding, when you keep the Excel file open, you can connect to the data source correctly. But when you close the Excel file, the error “Unable to Connect to the data source” is thrown out.
In your scenario, I would like to know if only this Excel comes across this issue. Have you experienced the same issue when you use other Excel files as a data source? As we tested in our environment, we can connect to the data source whether the Excel file
is open. You can refer to this
article to create a data source again then check if you can connect to the data source when the Excel file is closed.
If issue persists, I would suggest you use the
Process Monitor to capture the processes during the connection to the data source. Then check the result of each process to find the exact reason.

Hi all,
this is the tax report which when will be execute by the uses .
when user A execute the report its giving 27000 records as out put and when he extracts to Excel shell in that excel sheet its giving 27000 records.
whne that same report executed by the user B its giving 27000 records in output.when he try to download to excel sheet.its giving 19000 records and truncating remaining records.
both the users having the same authorization! for the tax
i was working fine till last Jan 2008. now its giving the truncation.
Can any thing related to memory issue that can be resolved in Production.

lower versions of Excel will not support the Financial data.

Crystal report not able to export in EXCEL file in windows 7

Standard Report to upload Master Data from Excel files

I am testing some configuration items and I am in need of master data for various scenarios, which is not available in the system now. Is there any standard report that will read data from an excel sheet and upload the corresponding infotypes? This will be of great help.

As far as I know, there is no standard report in SAP for master data load using excel sheet. You have write a custom z-program with the help of BDC for basic actions or for individual infotypes upload you can use 'Fast Entry' for quickly uploading data for any perticular infoype using Tcode PA30.

Problem while downloading report output
Hi friends,
I want to download the report output to local disk in excel file format. The report is developed using ALV grid display (using type poolSLIS). When I run the report all the values are displaying correctly.
When I download the same in excel file using spreadsheet/unconverted option, some fields are getting cut. For example Vendor code in report showing as 4060070, but in downloaded file it is showing as 406007 (last character missing.).
I tried GUI_DOWNLOAD function module(for practice), and it is downloading correct values in excel format.
The problem occurs for only one column. What will be the problem.
Is this something system problem or we what else.

Did you set the outlen property for your ALV Grid display?
Please check this.
Also, check whether you are exceeding the size for uploading a row in Excel or not.

now after getting the message "SUCCESSFULLY RUN" this file is generating in server's c: drive, is there anyway to save it on the local PC from where the report is being run? or to open the .xls file just after running the report?

Financial Reporting - Scheduling a Batch to Output/Email an Excel File
We're using version 9 and have no good way to systematically schedule a batch report and have the output saved/emailed as an Excel file, only pdf. Is this functionality in version 11? Has anyone developed creative alternatives?

With enhanced security in the newer realeases of Excel automacally sending emails could be a bit tricky, but if you look around on the web you should be able to find something with this ability. I'm not sure that you could use an FR report, but a report utilizing HSGetValue or ad-hoc functionality should function.

How to download a smartform output as excel file WITH EXACT LAYOUT.

I have searched the forum but could not found any satisfactory answer. I have a smartform with a table, some texts and a logo. I have to write a code which will save the smartform output as excel file in the system keeping the layout of the smartform output EXACT.
i.e., the excel file will contain the output with EXACTLY THE SAME layout as would have been for a pdf file (if the smartform output is converted to a pdf file) and the client can then edit the fields of the table in the excel file. Well unfortunately we can only download data into excel which is in a tabular format i.e stored in internal tables we have function modules to do the same even u can do that using OLE2.
If u try to download a smartform to Excel only format supported will be ASCII, if u will continue with that the smartforms text's will get downloaded to excel but whole data would be downloaded in a single Cell.

As u said ,u want to download a smartform to Excel it could be done but only if u r using a internal table and exactly printing line by line values in the smartform, But if u are performing calculation in between, using multiple internal table Work areas, structures, etc i.e if whole smartform is developed with many distributed windows , unfortunately it wont be possible to download a smartform to excel in such cases, because the whole output comes from multiple internal tables, calculations, etc all the data is not printed in a tabular manner so in such a case it would be just impossible to download the smartform to excel.
But we definitely have a workaround which could be done to download the data into excel.
you can develop a ALV report with a header and footer u can define the header and footer of the alv according to the smartform and the middle portion would contain the tabular kind of data which u must be using as Smartform table to print the same.
So if u have a similar kind of smartform with some header data, tabular data, and some footer data, then u can use ALV to do the same thing , advantage with ALV would be that u can easily download the same into excel.
Other alternative is that u can Convert and download the smartform to PDF and copy the same to an Excel wooksheet.
These are all the possibilities with which u can do the same.

Dear Friends,
I have created a report in character mode and I want to store the output of that report into an excel file. So that data of each column with heading will be stored in seperate coulmns(with each row of output in each row in excel file).
Output as follows:-
EMPNO ENAME DEPT
0099 JOHN ART
0011 SMITH ENGG
and so on...
I hope I will get the solution quickly.

I am working on a similar format for a report and if possible can you please give me some guidelines. I have initially created reports using XML Publisher, but for those , the output preview format was PDF. So, if I select the preview format as EXCEL will it give me output in Excel and for this to happen, how do I define the rtf template. I believe the working will be same as for PDF, create a rdf report, get output in XML and apply the template to get the data in Excel or there is something different to this.
