Report performance is prety slow.

Dear All,
When I am executing the report it took 1hrs to execute and it took 90%of time in OLAP. Please help me.
Thanks
Vasu.

Hi,
As you said there are many filter. Check in Filter if you are excluding any value, try to change this by including rest.
As you said user needs 6 monthss data. Restrict the report with a global filter on calyear/month for six months from give month by user (this can be done using formula variable).
Put as many charateristics in as possible in Freee charecteristics. Try to reduce the granularity for report default display. Suppose you are displaying Material level data in report. Keep material in Free charecteristics and display the data at country level so it will generate only few rows then user may drill down if required.
I hope it will help.
Thanks,
S

    Hi All,
Sales report is prety slow.It took 90% in OLAP time. I tried RSRT all the possible ways & also created OLAP fill query level also but No result. Please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi Vasu,
CAN You please refer below link
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/HowtoImproveQueryPerformance-A+Checklist
it tells explains how you can improve your query performace.
Also as i told since you are FETCHING DATA direct from MASTER data report will be bit slow so try to get data directly from cube and may be u can use filters also.
    Hope this may help you.

  • Report performance is very slow

    Hi all,
I have a table with 25 million rows. I create a report on this table in which i need to use the following expression
    ifnull(abc_accr_int_val,0)+ifnull(xyz_mar_val_lcy,0)
and this experession is group by asset description but the report output time is very high.Further there is no index on these columns in the database.
Please guide me that did my approach is right ??? if no what is the right approach

    Hi,
Thanks for such a beautiful and informative answers I really appriciated it.
I catch the problem and now want to share with U. As u know my prompt is on Date Column but I dont want to show this coloumn in my report.I only want that a user give a date and two columns are shown in report 1) asset_desc 2) total sum (which is sum of 2 columns as i discussed in this thread).
Now before...after creating the prompt on Date field I edit the report view and delete this coloumn (Date) because I only want above 2 colomns and not Date column in my report. But all sorting is performed on date bec it is in prompt (where clause). When I add Date column in my report (to show date col) the speed of the report is like sql and data fetching speed same like sql. Now tell me is there any way that I delete this col from my report but it exist in answer criteria table ??????
I have 19 Asset Desc which return by sql and answers request.

  • Crystal Reports performance is too slow

    Dear SDNers,
I have designed a crystal report which is fetching data from a Z developed function module. From crystal report side, used filters. But while executing report, it is calling the function module multiple times.
due to this performance is very bad. Why report is calling mutiple times of the function module. Do need to modify from crystal report side or from function module side. Please clarify.
    Regards,
    Venkat

A similar issue was seen a year ago It was regarding a function module call being executed multiple times from  CR4Ent tool. It involved the usage of sub reports inside that report and the issue was generic for any function module used for testing.
At that time, the issue was resolved by upgrading to the latest available patch of CR4Ent and also by applying the latest patch at SAP R3 end.
If you are able to post the exact support package and patch level of CR4Ent and also for the SAP R3 system, then someone can tell whether its the latest or not.

    Hi All.
In BI 7, sales delivery report performance is prety slow. Previously it took 5 mins to execute the report, but now a days it is taking morethan 30 mins. Ithe prob is OLAP time.

    Hi,
Please run the query in RSRT>Execute and Debug>Display Statistics Data.
and also search there are lots of useful material available in the forum for query performance

  • Report Performance is slow

    Hi
In our production one report is running very slow, for one moth its taking 10 to 12 min earlier it was took only 2 min for month data, we are confused why itu2019s happening. Query is running on multiprovider. On cube we are using only one aggregate and in the query designer we are using Hierarchy(Active) & virtual key figure.
We have not changed anything recently on the query, why this suddenly report running very slow.
    Please advice
    Thanks,
    Manu.

    Hi,
Check whether the Aggregate is up-to-date and whether it is being used by your query or not?
Also check the number of records as well, if the output is huge then it is obvious that the queries can take more time to run. As you are using Virtual Keyfigure, this generally degrades the query performance.

  • IR Report found 1 million record with blob files performance is too slow!

    we are using
    oracle apex 4.2.x
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    mod_plsql with Apache
    Hardware: HP proliant ML350P
    OS: WINDOWS 2008 R2
customized content management system developed in apex.when open the IR report have 1 ml rows found and each rows have blob(<5MB as pdf/tiff/bmp/jpg) it will be raising rows in future! but the searching performance is very slow!
    how can increasing the performance?
how can showing progressing status to user while searching progress going on IR report itself?
    Thanx,
    Ram

It's impossible to make definitive recommendations on performance improvement based on the limited information provided (in particular the absence of APEX debug traces and SQL execution plans), and lacking knowledge of the application  requirements and access to real data.
As noted above, this is mainly a matter of data model and application design rather than a problem with APEX.
Based on what has been made available on apex.oracle.com, taking action on the following points may improve performance.
I have concerns about the data model. The multiple DMS_TOPMGT_MASTER.NWM_DOC_LVL_0x_COD_NUM columns are indications of incomplete normalization, and the use of the DMS_TOPMGT_DETAILS table hints at an EAV model. Look at normalizing the model so that the WM_DOC_LVL_0x_COD_NUM relationship data can be retrieved using a single join rather than multiple scalar subqueries. Store 1:1 document attributes as column values in DMS_TOPMGT_MASTER rather than rows in DMS_TOPMGT_DETAILS.
There are no statistics on any of the application tables. Make sure statistics are gathered and kept up to date to enable the optimizer to determine correct execution plans.
There are no indexes on any of the FK columns or search columns. Create indexes on FK columns to improve join performance, and on searched columns to improve search performance.
More than 50% of the columns in the report query are hidden and not apparently used anywhere in the report. Why is this? A number of these columns are retrieved using scalar subqueries, which will adversely impact performance in a query processing 1 million+ rows. Remove any unnecessary columns from the report query.
A number of functions are applied to columns in the report query. These will incur processing time for the functions themselves and context switching overhead in the case of the non-kernel dbms_lob.get_length calls. Remove these function calls from the query and replace them with alternative processing that will not impact query performance, particularly the use of APEX column attributes that will only apply transformations to values that are actually displayed, rather than to all rows processed in the query.
Remove to_char calls from date columns and format them using date format masks in column attributes.
Remove decode/case switches. Replace this logic using Display as Text (based on LOV, escape special characters) display types based on appropriate LOVs.
Remove the dbms_lob.get_length calls. Instead add a file length column to the table, compute the file size when files are added/modified using your application or a trigger, and use this as the BLOB column in the query.
Searching using the Search Field text box in the APEX interactive report Search Bar generates query like:
    select
    from
      (select
      from
        (...your report query...)
      ) r
      where ((instr(upper("NWM_DOC_REF_NO"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_DESC"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("SECTION_NAME"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("CODE_TYPE"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("REF_NUMBER_INDEX"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("DATE_INDEX"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("SUBJECT_INDEX"), upper(:apxws_search_string_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_SERIEL"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_DESCRIPTION"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_STATUS"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("MIME_TYPE"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_FILE_BINARY"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0 ))
      ) r
    where
      rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
This will clearly never make use of any available indexes on your table. If you only want users to be able to search using values from 3 columns then remove the Search Field from the Search Bar and only allow users to create explicit filters on those columns. It may then be possible for the optimizer to push the resulting simple predicates down into the inlined report query to make use of indexes on the searched column.
I have created a copy of your search page on page 33 of your app and created an After Regions page process that will create Debug entries containing the complete IR query and bind variables used so they can be extracted for easier performance analysis and tuning outside of APEX. You can copy this to your local app and modify the page and region ID parameters as required.

  • Bug report: Energy Manager causes slow performance...

    Very slow Windows Startup..
Energy Manager's plans and the problem occured using any plan as I remember, and it wasn't an issue with the maximum processor state. I had heavy disk usage, especially access to the Page File, which is what the person in the second link I posted also described. CPU usage was low. The disk usage was seemingly not related to Energy Manager (Chrome was usually the worst), but removing Energy Manager completely resolved the problem. If you would find it helpful. I'm quite confident that even with Maximum Processor state at %100, CPU usage was low when it was slow, and that disk access was the culprit.
previously have use 1.0.0.31 or 32 not sure.
    Windows 8.1
Im using Lenovo Energy Management Driver
    1.0.0.28
    4.6.2014

I actually have the same problem.  Sorry to work on a old thread, but...
I've got my Lenovo B50-70 less than 1 month ago, and had switched it to SSD and had set everything up and is working perfectly.  However there are a bunch of lenovo programs that came pre-installed.  This computer is used mainly for work and I really don't like programs that suddenly pop-up and ask you to do stuff, as it is quite distracting, and with Lenovo Energy Manager being one of them so I removed it.  (I did do some research before I remove...)
Everything was fine, until when I try to switch on my wifi (I usually have it off, as I use LAN most of the time)...  For the B50-70 there is a airplane button on F7, which allow the user to switch wifi and bluetooth on/off.  That button was unresponsive...  After some digging it is actually related to the power energy manager being removed.  So I've downloaded the latest version from Lenovo and it was working again...
However though, whenever I start my computer it is taking so long to start...  And I tried uninstalling the power energy manager and it solved the problem...  And I am stuck with either having no wifi on/off ability or a really slow boot, which loses the whole purpose of the SSD.  After you enter your username and password it originally takes around 5~10 seconds to login, now it takes over 1 minute.
I have found this other link, which says Lenovo Power Manager having the same problem.
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Bug-report-Power-Manager-causes-slow-performa...
There is a solution, which you can change the registry to switch a function off.  I've tried it and it didn't work, which is not surprising as it's a different program..  But I am hoping that Lenovo can provide a similar solution for Lenovo Energy Manager...

  • Slow report performance when filter by 1 date

    Record selection formula : {PartTran.TransDate} in {?FromDate} to {?ToDate}
Report performance was okay when i select #08/10/2007# for {?FromDate} and #10/10/2007# fro ; report displayed within 5 seconds. However, the report slow down wehn i select same date (#10/10/2007#) for both {?FromDate} and {?ToDate}; report displayed after 20 minutes.
What is the reason and what can be done to improve it.
    Thanks for any advice.

    Not sure why selecting a single date would slow down your report.  Are you sure something else wasn't/isn't going on? You could give this a try: {PartTran.TransDate} >= {?FromDate}and {PartTran.TransDate} <= {?ToDate}

  • How to track the flow of Sharepoint SSRS report requests to troubleshoot slowness

How to track the flow of requests of Integrated SSRS report links in Sharepoint.
We are using SSRS with Sharepoint for reporting purpose. The issue is some of the reports get generated fast and some other reports generation is very slow. When the sql query of these reports RDL file is executed, the records are shown fast.
Also even on clicking the "Add Subscription" link of "Manage Subscriptions" of a report is very slow for some reports, while it is fast for other reports.
I tried enabling SQL profiler to track the requests.  I have checked profiler log for the SQL statements with exec sp_executesql. But they are not helpful.
Pls advice on how to track the request of flow of SSRS report request in sharepoint and how to troubleshoot the slowness in  "Add Subscription" link, response of some reports.

    Hi Pradeesh,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to track SharePoint SSRS report requests to troubleshoot the performance.
Developer dashboard is very help full while troubleshooting the issues related to performance in SharePoint 2013.  You can have a try.

  • Item/Drill Report Performance hinderance

I am having a problem with report performance. I have a report that I have to have 5 drop down menus on top of the report. It seems the more drop down menus I add, the slower the response time when the report is actually navigated. One of the drop downs has over 1,000 options, but the other 4 drop down menus have 4-5 options. Is there a way to improve performance?

And this is different from yesterday how?
    Please help, Discoverer Performance.

  • Crystal Report Performance for dbf files.

We have a report which was designed 5 -6 years ago. This report has 4 linked word doc and dbf file as datasource. This report also as 3 subreports. The size of field in dbf is 80 chars and couple of field are memo field. The report performance was excellent before we migrated the crystall report to 2008. After CR2008 the system changed and it is suddenly really slow. We have not change our reports so much it should have an influence on performance. When the user presses the preview button on printing tool window the control is transferred to Crystal. Something has happened inside black box of Crystal ( IMO ).   the dll we have are crdb_p2bxbse.dll 12.00.0000.0549 . The issues seems to be of xbase driver (not possible to use latest version of crdb_p2bxbse.dll and dbase files with memo fields).

    Hi Kamlesh,
Odd that the word doc is opened before the RPT, I would think that the RPT would need to be opened first so it sees that the doc also needs to be opened. Once it's been loaded then the connection can be closed, CR embeds the DOC in the RPT so the original is no longer required.
Also, you should upgrade to Service Pack 3, it appears you are still using the original release. SP1 is required first but then you should be able to skip SP2 and install SP3.
You did not say what earlier version of Cr you were using? After CR 8.5 we went to full UNICODE support at which time they completely re-built the report designer and removed the database engines from the EXE and made them separate dll's now. OLE objecting also changed, you can use a formula and database field to point to linked objects now so they can be refreshed any time. Previously they were only refreshed when the report was opened.
You may want to see if linking them using a database field would speed up the process. Other than that I can't suggest anything else as a work around.
    Thank you
    Don

    Report performance and data quality
Edited by: Arun Varadarajan on Apr 9, 2010 2:07 AM

    Hi,
    1) Does BW Report show how current is my data?
Yes, Last refresh of your data stat in query Properties.Run report and check the details for last refresh.
2.) What are the reason why the performance of my BW Report is slow?
    Reason could be:
    Poor Design
    Business Logic (Transformations)
Nav attributes used in the reports
    Time dependent MD
    Aggregates missing
Data Vol in the Cubes or DSO's
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/SomeusefulT-CodeforBIperformancetuning
3.) What are the reason why my BW Report is have missing data?
Check the source system data and check mapping in transformation with all the business logic.
4.) Why is my BW Report have incorrect data?
Depedns if you are loading from FF or R/3 or your are cleansing the data once it enters in to BW.
5.) Why doesnu2019t my BW Report Data match SAP R/3 Data?
Check the Source system data in RSA3 and pick one Document and run the same document in BI.
    Thanks!

  • Interactive report performance problem over database link - Oracle Gateway

    Hello all;
This is regarding a thread Interactive report performance problem over database link that was posted by Samo.
The issue that I am facing is when I use Oracle function like (apex_item.check_box) the query slow down by 45 seconds.
query like this: (due to sensitivity issue, I can not disclose real table name)
    SELECT apex_item.checkbox(1,b.col3)
    , a.col1
    , a.col2
    FROM table_one a
    , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND a.col4 = 100
    AND b.col5 = a.col5
table_one and table_two are remote tables (non-oracle) which are connected using Oracle Gateway.
Now if I run above queries without apex_item.checkbox function the query return or response is less than a second but if I have apex_item.checkbox then the query run more than 30 seconds. I have resolved the issues by creating a collection but it’s not a good practice.
I would like to get ideas from people how to resolve or speed-up the query?
Any idea how to use sub-factoring for the above scenario? Or others method (creating view or materialized view are not an option).
    Thank you.
    Shaun S.

    Hi Shaun
Okay, I have a million questions (could you tell me if both tables are from the same remote source, it looks like they're possibly not?), but let's just try some things first.
By now you should understand the idea of what I termed 'sub-factoring' in a previous post. This is to do with using the WITH blah AS (SELECT... syntax. Now in most circumstances this 'materialises' the results of the inner select statement. This means that we 'get' the results then do something with them afterwards. It's a handy trick when dealing with remote sites as sometimes you want the remote database to do the work. The reason that I ask you to use the MATERIALIZE hint for testing is just to force this, in 99.99% of cases this can be removed later. Using the WITH statement is also handled differently to inline view like SELECT * FROM (SELECT... but the same result can be mimicked with a NO_MERGE hint.
Looking at your case I would be interested to see what the explain plan and results would be for something like the following two statements (sorry - you're going have to check them, it's late!)
    WITH a AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_one),
    b AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_two),
    sourceqry AS
    (SELECT  b.col3 x
           , a.col1 y
           , a.col2 z
    FROM table_one a
        , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND   a.col4 = 100
    AND   b.col5 = a.col5)
    SELECT apex_item.checkbox(1,x), y , z
    FROM sourceqry
    WITH a AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_one),
    b AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_two)
    SELECT  apex_item.checkbox(1,x), y , z
    FROM table_one a
        , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND   a.col4 = 100
AND   b.col5 = a.col5If the remote tables are at the same site, then you should have the same results. If they aren't you should get the same results but different to the original query.
We aren't being told the real cardinality of the inners select here so the explain plan is distorted (this is normal for queries on remote and especially non-oracle sites). This hinders tuning normally but I don't think this is your problem at all. How many distinct values do you normally get of the column aliased 'x' and how many rows are normally returned in total? Also how are you testing response times, in APEX, SQL Developer, Toad SQLplus etc?
Sorry for all the questions but it helps to answer the question, if I can.
    Cheers
    Ben
